Waiting for the Night (Now recruiting again!)

Unread postby FlamingDeth » Thu Oct 21, 2004 12:29 am

There are many planets in the universe. Some of them even have life on them. There's the standard fare, planets like Earth and Nebulos, that house organic life. Then there's the other common type, like Cybertron and Quintessa, that house mechanical life.

One planet, known as Leires, housed a quite humanoid species. This planet was only slightly higher in technology level than Earth, and really, there seemed to be very little reason to take interest in it. One bright, sunny day, however, the planet came under attack by Decepticons. Much to the Decepticons' disappointment, some of the natives managed to find out about and subsequently send out a distress call to the Autobots.

In response, Optimus Prime, leader of the Autobots, sent a ship to investigate. However, as the vessel neared the planet, it was shot down, crashing in the middle of a rather large lake. All on board were killed, except a lucky few who were deactivated in stasis pods.

Four hundred years later, an earthquake shook the lake. It wasn't particularly large, but it was enough to activate the surviving Autobots. Apparently, the Decepticons couldn't find the wreckage. However, upon waking, the Autobots found a horrific situation. Advanced Decepticons were swarming the planet, and the native life forms were nowhere to be found. Entire cities were completely empty, as if they had just been abandoned in the middle of a normal day, without even signs of a struggle.

So, our intrepid heroes are in quite a situation. These poor anachronisms, outnumbered and outclassed, have to survive by wits alone, while they attempt to find out what the Decepticons are here for, and what happened to the planets population...

OK! System is, unless I change my mind, is freestyle. Answers to questions that others have asked are here. Get to posting characters, you crazy RPers! Also, any additional questions should totally be asked here, whether they be about setting or acceptable characters or whatever.

Name: Tar-Mach

Subtype: Junkion Triplechanger :O

Function: Scavanger/Repairman/Back-up Comms Officer

Forms:
-Standard Junkion Motorcycle
-Jet

STR 0000000--- INT 000000----
SPD 0000------ END 0000000000
RNK 000------- CRG 00000-----
FPR 00000----- SKL 000000----

Motto: <The Price is Right theme goes here>

Background: Tar-Mach is the result of the Junkions meeting and working with the autobots, as well as learning about the Decepticons. They realized that one of their biggest shortcomings was a lack of air power, and thus was Tar-Mach produced.

Tar-Mach is a Junkion who was altered with parts salvaged from Decepticon seeker jets, and using techniques learned from the autobots, made into a triple changer. In addition to the standard motorcycle form (with the addition of groovy-looking fins), he can take the shape of jet. While based on Seeker Jet design, Tar- Mach is not quite as fast, or as manueverable.

Appearance-wise, Tar-Mach appears much like the normal Junkion. His face is a bit thinner than more, and marked by Manchu-style mustaches typical to Junkions, but lacking an accompanying beard. Most marked about him are the Seeker Jet wings on his back, and fuselage on his chest. In Motorscycle form, the wings form into fins while the Fuselage is hidden. In jet form, he resembles a particularly bulky Seeker Jet with a Junkion paint scheme.

In combat, Tar-Mach is a decent fighter, but hardly expectional. While equipped with Seeker jet lasers in all three of his forms, he prefers the traditional Junkion style of grabbing a dangerous-looking object and flailing away at whatever's attacking him with it.

Tar-Mach has an interest in what he considers to be the cycle of nature; that is, how junk comes to Junkion. The process of raw materials becoming finished goods, then becoming junk fascinates him. The system of exchanges between goods, materials, and money intrigue him as well. as do the origins of particularly interesting pieces of junk. In short, he is an something of an economist, a garbage technician, and an antiquarian.

But, one part of the process intrigues Tar-Mach and appeals to his Junkion sensibilities more than any other. The point where the system of exchanges break down, where goods and money mean nothing; where skill, intellect, luck, and lost pride rule the day. The part of the process that capitivates Tar-Mach the most is the economic phenomena known as Game Show. Much of his demeanor is drawn from what he sees in game shows. Much of his TV phraseology comes from gameshows, and things relating to them. He keeps a large archive of recorded gameshows on his personal database, and is more than happy to share the interesting moments.

Aside from this personal interest, Tar-Mach is a fairly affable transformer. He suffers from a fairly lousy work ethic, generally not doing it unless ordered or deems it necessary. However, he's always ready for a party, with plenty of gameshow blooper reels from accross the known stars to share. He quickly becomes annoyed with more duty-oriented sorts, and will try to avoid them if possible. The Decepticons vaguely confuse him; why bother fighting when there are skys to fly, roads to travel, parties to attend, energon goodies to scarf, and a new season of The Price is Right on the horizon?

Name: Mutewave
Function: Stealth Assassin
Forms: Humanoid / Corvette Stingray / Submarine

Motto: "Mummy always said; 'If you need to get up close and personal, your doing something wrong.'"

<span style="font-family:courier;">STR 0000------ INT 0000000---
SPD 0000000--- END 00000-----
RNK 00-------- CRG 000-------
FPR 000000000- SKL 000000000-</span>

Beautiful, dark and dangerous, the teenaged, triple-changing Mutewave values style and appearance more than most autobots. Despite her exceptional talent and skill, she has little rank or experience. Many of her superiors see her as selfish, vain, and unprincipled. She'd like to prove herself, but secretly believes she will never have the courage to face any signifigant threat directly. She tries to make up for this through personality, but usualy comes off as overconfident and naive. She prefers to spend most of her time socializing or gambling with her comrades, and loves to drive and swim purely for it's own sake. She's always trying to find ways to impress her superiors without endangering herself. She makes up for her low strength and defence with an arsenal of highly potent weapons.

Mutewave's sleek, black Corvette mode posesses notable speed and stealth and has a number of tricks to shake pursuers, but it's mainly used for transportation. Her submersible form is the true powerhouse, able to fire devestating salvos of guided micro-neutron torpedos over a range of 2000 miles. She can also manufacture and deploy null-charge minefields to disable surface vessels. She can survive almost any pressure level, even on high-gravity planets with heavy liquid oceans, and her advanced sonar array allows her to track dozens of objects with pinpoint accuracy. This form is fully functional in the vaccume of space, and is almost completely undetectable under the right conditions. In robot form, she relies on a slow-firing Proton sniper rifle to deal pinpoint-accurate damage over tremendous distances. She can use her disabling null-charge mines as motion-sensing or timed bombs. She also carries a pair of custom designed neutrino auto-pistols for close combat, but has never once used them, or even practiced with them. She has a low tolerance to physical damage in all her forms, but is remarkably resistant to energy or sonic attacks that stun or disable.

Mutewave signed up for this mission as a tactical support unit, hoping to use her stealth and sniping talents to earn some glory without endangering herself overmuch. Now that things have taken a turn for the worst, she has no choice but to shoulder some of the heavy risks right alongside her compatriots. She's willing to take those risks, but she's going to relentlessly avoid as much of the really dangerous stuff as she possibly can. Despite her skill and weaponry, she's still quite young, inexperienced, and afraid. And, more than she'd like to admit, it shows. <p>---

Name: Speedstar
Function: Relay Bot
Forms: Humanoid / Vespa Scooter

Motto: "I'm gonna rock you like a hurricane."

STR 00000----- INT 00000-----
SPD 0000000000 END 0000000---
RNK 0---------- CRG 000000----
FPR 000000----- SKL 000000---

"Speedstar Sypan Joe" was created to be the most superior relay bot available, able to relay messages, needed information, or send for help on the dot, without fail.

In his humanoid form, he is shorter than most autobots, and has decaled himself with stickers of his favorite rock bands to the point of ridiculousness. He has a spiky mohawk, and has some state-of-the-art rollerblades instead of feet. He's never seen without his vintage 80`s cone headphones and his built-in library of 70's-80's-90's rock classics.

It's true that if he tried, he would be an outstanding Transformer. However. . .he has a bit of an attitude. He likes doing things on his own time, when he feels like it, and hates being told what to do. Because of this, he has been shunned and kicked out of a lot of factions, and has never really had a true job because of it. He likes listening to music and performing ridiculously dangerous tricks, but other than that, is a true loner.

His vespa form is that of a customized neon green Vespa scooter, with extra pipes and an increased engine. This baby can really haul. It is loaded with deployable remote laser mines, and a small flamethrower on the dash. He also has two detachable blades which come out of the sides of the bike, for any "sticky" situations. His speed, while unrivaled, is barely used because he lacks the "drive" to do so. However, he loves performing daring tricks and daredevil jumps in his spare time.

While he's not really focused on combat, he does have a few tricks up his sleeve, which he can use in a tight situations. He's mainly made for getting to the action, and getting out as fast as possible once succeeding with his mission. That is, when he actually accepts any. . .

(Er, I am not too sure about the whole weaponry aspects of the game. . .so I might add to this later on after doing some research.) <p>---------------

Name: Ojitron
Function: Tactical Analysis / Stratigic Fighter / Crochety Old Geezer
Forms: Humanoid / Two Door Outie (For those of you who don't know what an Outie is, it's an oldschool 5 cylinder sedan)

STR 000------- INT 00000000--
SPD 00-------- END 000-------
RNK 000000---- CRG 000-------
FPR 0000000--- SKL 00000000--

Car Form: An old, beat up, sky blue sedan with two doors and... well, it's a pretty generic early '80s car.

Humanoid Form: With his hood forming one shoulder and his trunk the other, Ojitron's humanoid form is actually quite broad across the shoulders. The center part folds down to sprout legs, and his head projects up off of the same stem. His right arm, which emerges from under the hood, holds the once dreaded five barrel Outie Gattling Gun. The fuel line runs back into his body to feet the gun with bullets. It can be slung from his shoulder if not needed. His left shoulder also contains a small double missile launcher, and his considerablely large exhaust pipe into a one shot bazooka.

By all rights and reasons, Ojitron should have been obsolete by the time the mission was first launched. One can only imagine how far behind he's fallen in the years between the Autobot's landing and awakening. Originally the Outron's heavy duty five barrelled gattling gun was enough to get them through any confrontation they should run into. However, as time went on, new energy based weapons came out, and the gattling gun became obsolete. Sparks were moved into new chasis, and life went on.

All except Ojitron. Rather than fighting stronger, he began fighting smarter. In fact, some might say he began fighting somewhat insanely (but that is a matter of opinion.) What is sure is that Ojitron was repeatedly promotted for effective strategy, and holds a high rank among "enlisted" Autobots. He fights using his high quality (in fact, state of the art) sensors, and extensive knowledge of chasis and weak points. Also, although his gattling gun is somewhat out of date, his missle packages are the best available.

He is also an opportunistic fighter. The Outron chasis lacks the strength to fight in close combat for long periods of time, so if Ojitron's first attack does not work, he will fall back and wait for another time to strike. He has also grown quite fond of staying alive, and will usually plan his strategies to lean more towards survival than towards victory, if he is forced to choose.

Finally, however, Ojitron is an excellent soldier (it's his career after all.) Regardless of personal feelings, if he is given an order (even if it involves proposing or following strategies he doesn't like) he will follow them. Just be prepared for the constant grumbling, and gloating if he's proved right... <p>

Name: Blitzeye
Function: Surveillance/Early Warning/Anti-ordinace
Forms: Humanoid / Mobile Radar Truck
Motto (or rather, favorate phase): I see with my little eye~~~

STR 0000000--- INT 000000----
SPD 000------- END 0000------
RNK 0--------- CRG 00000-----
FPR 000------- SKL 0000000---

During the war, when the Decepticons had control of the skies, the Autobots needed a new kind of scout to stay at the frontlines and scan the skies for impending danger. The result was Blitzeye.

His Truck form is similar to a 6-wheeler open-top cargo truck, the "cargo" a nest full of signal wires, missile tubes and a radar dish. That "C" shaped radar dish is the only curve you'll find on him other than the wheels, and his primary purpose in life.

His Humaniod mode is very much similar to his Truck mode, a large blocky targetboard-dwarf with stubby limbs. (Think of a humaniod constructed from a bare minimum of lego bricks, and you come quite close to the mark) One notable difference with the other Transformers is that his "Square in a Box"-like head is noticabily shifted right from the center-line, with the small radar dish as a second "head" on the opposite side. All the other signal wires and such are packed up nicely at his back, and the wheels line up on his feet.

As for personality, he is quite the loner. Infamous for avoiding meetings, uncanny in his ability to slip away from a crowd, you could aways find him at the edge of any gathering either picking up and listening to local airwaves, or scanning the surrounding with that radar of his.

Maybe that's why he's so good with that radar of his in the first place. He is able to pick out the pitiful "stealth" planes on Earth anytime, most of the time even picking up the stealth of fellow transformers. And his radar's range is likely to be much further than anything out there, including sensor equipment on the ships used by Autobots and Decepticons. Not only that, his "missile-tubes" can launch detector drones to cover blind spots.

And, as mentioned, he like to listen to the radio. Not for the music thou... because if there's anything close to a hobby for him other than radar-ing everything in sight (and beyond), its trying to crack cyphers and solve puzzles. He has no talent for it, but still if he picks up something that seems like anything between an encrypted transmission to a crossword puzzle, he'll most likely save it and spend the next few days in a futile attempt to decode the signal/puzzle...

As for other weaponary, he has a flashligh..*ahem* standard issue laser rifle. He also has an anti-missle laser pack in his Truck mode, the missiles tubes can fire missiles of different configurations, and there's the point defence shields that are one-use energy disks 5 metres wide and can be shifted once to anywhere within 20 metres away from Blitzeye. There's also the last refuge of plucking one of his relatively long signal antennas and whiping the opponent with that.

Oh, and anybody who has any kind of stealth/sneak capabilities tend to irritate him. A LOT. Especially if they manage to get pass him undetected while he is in full-scanning Truck-mode. (which does not always work against stealths, and certain terrains full of cover)...

Edit: Spellcheck and a bit of stats tweaking <p>

Danno: Pervy and Mechanisto decided on Triple Changers early on via IM, and I'd really rather not have everyone being one (especially with all the other random "special" types of Transformers mucking about). Though it's nice that you're actually willing to pick a smaller form, and stuff. On a minor note, I think the Autobots have a tad bit more sophisticated audio than CDs, and then there's the fact that there wouldn't really be any "reject buddies" for him to hang out, nor would he really have any access to "new music". Not that it would stop him from having tons of music that was new from before the ship was shot down. Also, IM me and we can work out weapon stuffs.

Lorr: Curse you! Put up a character!

wkz: Yes, that's really worth updating us on, as it tells us nothing about the character. Also, "RayEye" may possibly be worse than "Dumpstikon". <p>

Four to six characters, and we start...some time. At this rate, probably some time next week. But first! I know that Doug is making a character, so I'm waiting for him to post it, and ol' NebbieQ is pondering the possibility, so I'm waiting for some positive/negative reaction from her. <p>

I suck with robot names. "RayEye" was the result of trying to convert "Radar" into something else. Any suggestions?

Might I suggest...

www.seventhsanctum.com/gens/heroicname.html

As for all those T.L.A.s,

RNK is Rank. CRG is Courage. FRP is Firepower. SKL is Skill.

And keep in mind, a 9 or 10 is extremely impressive. Blurr's speed was only rated a 9, and speed was his thing, man. <p>---

Name: Havoc

Function: Intelligence, Saboteur

Forms: Hover-car

STR 000------- INT 000000000-
SPD 0000000--- END 0000------
RNK 000000---- CRG 00000-----
FPR 0000------ SKL 00000000--

Motto: Do it right first time - You might not get a second chance.

Background: One of the veterans of the long war, Havoc has spent most of his life on Cybertron, battling with ever dwindling resources for control of the planet. With the leaders on both sides removed from the equation, it was a war that, for one reason or another, tended to favour the decepticons. Still, things were by no means one-sided. Whenever the remaining autobots found the opportunity to strike, they struck hard.

While not the most physically imposing of the autobots, Havoc excels at guerilla warfare, and has earnt a reputation as someone who gets things done. He relies on careful planning and the precise application of force, rather than raw firepower, and it is a philosophy that has served him well.

With Cybertron now firmly in autobot hands, Havoc is taking the opportunity to see more of the galaxy, and has made a hobby of studying the history of other races. He's still getting used to standing on worlds that aren't covered in metal.

Personality-wise, he's surprisingly optimistic for someone who's been through centuries of war. Possibly because it all seems to have turned out well in the end. Havoc can be a bit reserved around new people, but once he's gotten to know them, he's more than willing to swap stories, discuss the topic of the day, or lend a hand on someone's pet project.

Havoc's design isn't one that owes anything to earthly influences, his auto form being that of a small, streamlined vehicle which glides a couple of feet off the ground. It is a form that was common on Cybertron prior to the autobots' contact with Earth, but is becoming less so. He also possesses stealth capability.

Typically, he will carry a standard blaster and a supply of explosives, along with equipment that will allow him to hack into almost any system, given time. <p>KnightsofSquare: DarkLordKelne is a tomboy bunnygirl, jealous of the business successes of her 37 older brothers, she is pursuing her own business degree in hopes of someday initiating a hostile takeover against her brothers' corporations.</p>

Pervy, Mechanisto, Kelne, Durron! You have been selected! Yay! Celebration! Exclamation points!

System is still freestyle, though I'll be totally utilizing the descriptions and tech specs for the decision-making process. Har har har, and you thought you were just putting them there for show! RP will <s>begin sometime before Monday, most likely. Well, most definitely. Link will be posted here later!</s> now.

I'm not sure if this was specified, but are we inside the wreck, or outside on the water floor? I assumed we were still inside. <p>---

Inside and outside are pretty much interchangable. There are as many holes in the walls as there are (were) guards in the castle. <p>

I hate to bring this up, but.... No wait, I don't hate to at all.

Ojitron and Havok are both Rank 6... twice the rank of TarMach, and three times that of Mutewave. I suppose in a crash-and-burn situation like this, A junkion might be more resourceful... but still. Those stats ain't for nuttin, bub. <p>---

The way I understood it is that Ojitron was saying "take the head front of the line, you know where we're going", not "You're our king and lord! Do with us as you please."

Also, rank stats only come into play if the characters bring them up. Autobots are lax like that. <p>

Mr. Durron needs to post before I punch him directly in the eye.

EDIT FOR BUMPING PURPOSES: You all know that there's nothing for me to GM until your characters decide to do something, right? So they need to, like, interact, decide on what they're going to do, and then do it. Or just skip to the last step. <p>

Posting three times in a row is fun!

Actually, it isn't. We just need Mechanisto to post. Also, if Mr. Durron doesn't post soon, his character is going to get axed. :(

EDIT:

Also, since three people is a little low for an RP still, I'm rerecruiting! If you'd like in, make a character, and if you're one of the folks that didn't make the cut the first time and still want in, make whatever revisions to your characters, and re-apply. I'll fit neato characters in. <p>

Still trying with the same character: Blitzeye.

* Wonders if the puzzle-loving loner would get in this time... <p>

Hmmm... A deviantart account, and nothing inside :(

...if I didn't take it BEFORE, what makes you think it'll fly a second time? <p>

*ninja unvanish*

I have never been dragged out of a house on my way to a two week vacation bereft of intarweb with so little warning before.

I should be back to postign regularly in short order. Will you still have me? I have baloons. And a cute little stuffed killer whale. <p>---
