Shek sat up in the cabin, apparently, everyone had gone. He had, however, heard a sound that he didn't like...

If you didn't know better, you'd say that was an ARM going off.
~I don't know better, and I do say that was an ARM going off.~

Shek hefted up his polearm, the glint of something showing in the metal of the blade. He sighed and turned to the cabinent, really knowing he had to go out there...

He couldn't though, the temptation was to strong. He wasn't planning to steal anything.. stealing, he was always taught, was for the weak and mindless who couldn't find work. He was just going to.. explore.

He held out his polearm and gently nudged the door open, making sure he was far out of range of anything bad.

When Shek opened the cabinet, Rydar could hear it from where he was. "OH SHIT" he yelled and ran for the cabin. "Everone, stay back!" With he ran into the building to see Shek stuck to the wall, covered in a sticky web, the giant spider, living in the cabinet, was already starting to feed on him.

Rydar looked at Shek then turned towards the spider and stabbed it in its back, it came off of Shek and shook slightly with the blade in its head, and died. "DAmmit fool, you were lucky we were on our way back, you could be dead."

"Its a trap door spider, they usually live in the desert, but my father was trained in using them as traps, it would have sucked all the blood from your body as you stuck there."

Shek definitely did not look good, when Rydar came in it was already starting to feed, so it had taken a decent amount of his blood. "dammit." Rydar gritted through his teeth, he spoke only loud enough for Shek to understand, even though he was almost out. "If you live though this, I will personally kick your ass for that, those are extremely hard to capture."

With that Rydar pulled the blade out of the spider and cut Shek down. He covered him in blankets, he had already passed out from the venom. He injected the antivenom into him and turned to the others. "Well, we will not be able to travel until noon, that should give him enough time to get the poison out of his bloodstream, and gather enough strength to travel."

He turned to the cabinet, now bare except for the glistening beautiful web of the spider, and closed it.

Gean gasped as she saw Shek laying on the floor. She quickly pulled out the heal berry.

"Hear, this can help." She said and shoved it into Shek's mouth. For a moment Shek seemed to glow a slight orange as the berry began to heal him.

"It dosen't take away poison though," she said looking at them. "It wasn't poisonous was it?" She asked. Rydar shook his head.

Gean sighed and flopped down on a near by chair.

"I don't get it, he said not to look. He even told you there was a trap." She pointed to the cabinet. "The only thing I see in there is web and a few ARM parts." She said. "It's all his stuff, why mess with it?"

She said sternly. She could see that Shek was already starting to recuperate slowly. She shook her head.

"That berry won't do the trick (ooc: only heals by 10 hp) He'll need a doctor. Lucky for us Crestwod is so close."

She jumped to her feat and then stared at Ryo.

"Uh Ryo this is Shek, Shek, Ryo."Image

Ryo shook his head at Rydar in disgust.

"You father was a sick man then. For someone who says they want to find out who they are going to shoot before they shoot them.."

Ryo shook his head and didn't walk in the cabin.

"I'm going to start towards Crestwood. You can join me now Gean, or you can wait. Either way I'll still treat you to a room at a inn, and a meal."

Ryo turned around and started the trek towards Crestwood.

"Wait," Gean said. She sighed and knew that Ryo wasn't going to wait. She turned to Rydar and sighed.

"I don't think he's that much of a hard nose," she said with a smile. "Even if the trap was extreme, I'm sure you had your reasons. I'm going on ahead to, but not because I don't want to wait. I'm going to see if I can get a doctor. When you three get to Crestwood, look for us at the Little Symbol Lodge."

She said and ran off with a final wave.

A few moments latter she was walking behind Ryo.

"I'm sure he had his reasons for keeping that thing," she said as they walked. Ryo seemed to be locked in silence. "I don't think he thought any of us would actually open the cabinet."

She put her hands behind her head as they walked.

"Well, I told them to meet up with us at the Inn. And that I have a doctor ready."

Gean didn't know why she was attempting to patch things up between Ryo and Rydar. Nor why she was even traveling with Ryo. She had a funny feeling, a faint one, that they all needed each other. She laughed at herself and shook Her head.

She had never really needed anyone before, and thought that she was losing it thanks to The knot on Her head.

Above them The sun was rising, beginning a new day. And with it The heat.

(eek a spider? wow Now that was a cool surprise. Well great posts guys. I like The inner group conflict between Ryo and Rydar, it has potential to make them close friends I think. This is fun.)

Ryo smiled as the sun rose.

"With every new dawn comes a new danger."

He looked back to Gean with a serious look on his face. "Don't expect me to pay for any of them though. I only agreed to pay for your needs."

Ryo chuckled and Swinged his Rifle back over his shoulder. "Whether he had a good reason or not, keeping a lethal spider like that in a cabinet is unsound. It could have come out of there and killed him any night even if it IS a trapdoor spider. It does need to eat, so he would have made a good meal I'm sure."

He paused for a moment in his sentence to look at the ground. "The first thing I am buying you when we get to town is some ammo for your ARM Gean. After that we can go to the Inn."

Crestwood town. Shoping anyone

Unread postby bunnygirle78 » Mon Feb 17, 2003 3:04 pm

"Oh, I was kidding you don't have to buy me anything." Gean said blushing. She hand really meant for him to buy anything for her.

She stopped and looked up at the sky it was beginning to turn red, soon it would be blue and the heat of the day would be on them.

It was not long till they came to the small city of Crestwood. It was evident that the people who lived there had been threw the storm as well.

Many of them were either sweeping the sand from their homes, or shops, and a few were talking loudly about the storm.

"I suppose they got it to," she said as an old man raved about how his shop had nearly been filed with sand.

"I can't believe this," he said shortly as he swept. The man stopped and then looked up at Ryo and Gean. He smiled at Ryo and pushed past Gean nearly knocking her over.

"Ahh sir. Welcome to Crestwood. Are you looking for anything? Anything at all? I know the perfect thing for you!" The man dropped his broom and then pulled out a pipe witch he shoved into Ryo's mouth.

"Ahh a good smoke. Thats it isn't it? Thats what you were wanting."

Gean glared at the man. Ryo didn't seem happy about having a pipe (the smoking kind) shoved into his mouth.

The little man ran past Gean and into his shop. He came running back with a long piece of cloth witch he threw over Ryo's shoulders.

"A fine cloth sir, a good feel. Why not order a new suite."

Gean Jumped back as the man passed her again and ran back into his shop. This time he brought out a large hat and was about to put it on Ryo's head.

Rydar watched the small man slowly recover, 'dammit we don't have time for this I'll have to give him my parents stash of heal berries' With that he went into the back and pulled out fifteen berries, the last of his stock. He fed them all to Shek, who regained color. "Sorry Shek, that spider is naturally trained to attack anyone who isn't me, my father, or mother who opens that Cabinet."

"Well I guess since its open now I can show you what was in it" With that Rydar pulled out the biggest ARM Rydar himself had ever seen along with a few smaller ones. "These. were my fathers collection of ARMS, he was a Dream Chaser in younger years and a Warrior when he grew older. The big one he recently found near Twindel Blade." At this Rydar realized that the man was probably talking about THIS, 'so this is that thing that man was looking for, well I better take it with me.'

Rydar wrapped it tightly so that no one could see it, and put it into his backpack, it still stuck out several inches, but no one would be able to tell what it was exactly, it didn't look like most ARMS. The other, smaller ones, he also put into his bag, but they fit easily. Rydar looked at Shek, "Well if you are ready to go we are meeting them at Little Symbol Lodge. Hopefully they will be there."

(OOC; Rydar won't be using any of the other ARMS, just his, for your information. He might sell some of them, haven't decided.)

Ryo blinked as he was covered in the various things.

"Um, sir...." Ryo removed the pipe from his hand and handed it to the old man as he walked up to thim with the hat.

"I don't intend to buy any new clothing today." He didn't mean to sound rude so he added on. "Although I would like to purchase some ammo for my young lady friend here."

He smiled At Gean, even though she said he didn't mean for him to really buy her anything he intended to at least get her properly armed.

"Well sir, do you have any ammo for her type of ARM? I would be willing to pay upfront."

The man took a look at Gean and smiled.

"Oh I am sure I do, now young lady. . ." The man suddenly stopped and looked at Geans face.

Gean glared at him.

"You have a problem with something?" She demanded. The man smiled suddenly and shook his head.

"No," he said quickly. "Its just. . .I've never seen anyone with Yellow eyes before."

Geans glare deepened as she drew her arm and took out a spare bullet.

"I need ten of these. Their North -6 I5's."

She crossed her arms as the man examined her ARM.

"I've never seen anything like your ARM before." The man said and then looked at Ryo. "To be honest an ARM dealer would be abel to help you better than me."

He took out a small piece of paper and wrote something down.

"Just down the street there's a Dealer who's very fair. If you give him this, He'll give you a deal."

Gean turned and walked off in a huff.

She kicked a small can, causing it to bounce off of the wall and nearly hit a dog that was laying on the ground.

She turned to Ryo, attempting to hide Her anger.

"I promised Rydar I'd find a doctor for Shek," she said quickly. "Lets get The amo and then The doc, if that ok with you?" She asked forcing a smile.

Kalin had followed in silence, worried about his current position. Ryo hadn't said a word to him yet, neither had the rest of the companions. He looked at the ARM holstered at his side.

"Need some training, yeah, sure. Once I find some ammo, I'll show him whos proficient with ARMs."

He followed Gean to the ARM dealer, hoping to find some appropriate ammo, and some healing items, etc. And maybe some info about Sea - Dwellers.

Gean turned suddenly and smiled at Kalin.

"You sure are Quiet." She said. "So .. .where did you say you were from?" She asked trying to strike up a conversation, and attempting to forget the rude shop owner.

"Uh thanks for helping me by the way. I think I forgot to say that befor."

(Sorry, didn't mean to ignore him. Honest. Sorry about that.)

Kalin grinned wryly at Gean.

"When you haven't talked to anyone for the only two months of your life that you can remember, you tend to not say much. I'm just looking to buy some ammo for this thing," he said, indicating his ARM.

The heavy looking ARM was thick and square, with a folding stock. The chamber could clearly only hold one large shell.

"As I have mentioned, I have no memory of my past. I know how to fight and handle ARMs, but I cannot recall when I learned these skills. I also have some memory of the ocean, of living on the ocean or something." He looked down at his out-of-place appearance.

"Guess thats obvious. These clothes aren't exactly good for desert travel. And my feet have been burned raw."

Gean froze in her place, and looked down at the ground sadly.

"Its tuff not know who you are, or where you come from" she said and then looked up at him. Her yellow eyes serious and distant. "I kinda know what your talking about." She said looking at her feet. Her demonor changed so quickly, that for a moment she seemed to be difrent.

"But hay we arent hear to talk about anything but amo right?" She said grabbing his arm and pulling him into the ARMS DEALER.

She jumped into the shop and smiled broadly.

"I'm sure you'll see the ocean someday," Gean said letting go of his arm. "Uh, what is an ocean?" She asked casually.

The ARMS dealer behind the counter laughed and shook his head as he approached them.

"Good day to you three," he said happily. "Welcome to my humble shop. How can I help you?"

He approached the counter, and placed his ARM in front of the man there.

"I'd like to know what this is, what it does, and if I can buy ammunition for it."

He carefully examined Kalin's ARM and then set it down. "Well frind," he said rubbing his head. "To be honest I don't know. I've never seen an ARM like this before."

He handed it back to Kalin.

Gean handed her ARM over, and was quickly handed a few bullets. "Normal amo," he said smiling. "Now you be careful with that little ARM." Gean frowned at the man as she stared at the bullets.

"Uh I need A-9 70's. She said sternly."

"Sorry, I can't give you those, Maybe when you get a little older." He said and then turned to Ryo.

Gean, turned and walked past Kalin grumbling something.

Outside she sat down infront of the store and set her elbow on her knees.

She yawned and stared down The dusty street.

Shek hated being forcefed fruit, even heal fruit, when he had been physically ill in a handful of ways.

He looked at the mans collection of arms, not feeling really up to saying much about it. He just wanted to get out of bed.

Rydar looked down at Shek, who was finally getting out of the bed, "Sorry for force feeding you those berries, but we need to hurry, and you were unconscious, you could have died had I'd not done that."

After saying this, Rydar went to his room, and opened his shelf, quickly he grabbed the shells for his weapon, about 15 bullets were left.

Not wanting his new companion being angry at him, he offered him some of his fathers ammunition for his six shooter, which was pretty close, or at least he thought, to the one that Shek had used on the beast in the desert.

" Here, some ammunition for your six shooter." With that Rydar went to his kitchen and grabbed some travelling food for the trip. Just in case, he also grabbed the rest of the antivenom. " Ready to go? Or do you still need some time to rest?"

"Sir, I am currently keeping a eye on the young lady. She has my permission to purchase those if she so wishes. I will pay for them as well."

Ryo rummaged around in his trenchcoat and pulled out a handful of coins.

"So how much for what the young lady asked?" Ryo smiled to himself. He was only partially lying, so it wasnt bad.

"Well," The dealer said handing Gean the bullets. "They, arent used that often. Actually, no one wants them. So how about a gella a piece." He said with a laugh.

"I use them all the time." Gean said as she loaded her ARM.

"Well your a youngster with a difrent opnion than the others around hear. Most of them want the 80 types. Faster, and explode after impact."

Gean grimaced.

"Thanks Ryo, but you didn't need to buy them. I was just kinda joking."

The arms dealer bid them good bye as they left.

"I need to find a doctor for Shek," she said. "And lucky for us the inn has the only doctor in town." She said smiling. "I've been in this town a cupel of times. Mostly when that fat oaf sent me hear for supplies. It's not a bad place, and the in is the only place your going to get a good nights sleep at. The owner doesn't like people who fight in his saloon."

She jumped off the steps that led into the ARM dealer and stared to walk down the road.

"Well," the dealer said scratching his head. "You may be abel to find someone in Crater city. But thats on the edge of the great Island. Near the ocean." He put his hands on his hips. "To be honest, I think it looks more like a water ARM than anything else. I'm sure you'll be abel to find the answers you need. But the amo I gave you will work to."

He pointed to a small trigger on the ARM.

"That is how you fire it, " he said. "But until you get the right type of amo you won't be abel to scyronize with your ARM properly."

(Scyronizeing with an ARM means that you are The only one who can use it. That is why no one else can use your ARM. This in fo is for those who haven't played the game.)

Shek was getting out of bed and redressing.

You must be losing your touch, a spider got you.
~Shush you, you got it just as bad as i did.~
Only because you were stupid enough to open the cabinent when told not too.
~Screw you.~

Shek shook his head and declined the ammunition from the man, he had plenty enough of his own. Besides, his ARM took single bullets, not cartridges, bullets, of which, he was currently replunking into his weapon.

Shek didn't really care for using ARMs in battle anyway, to him it was just like running away and fighting at the same time, a truely confusing experience.

This being so Shek stood up, and gathered the rest of his equipment, feeling a bit woozy. "Er... I think we should go now." Was all that he said.

The small town of Crestwood, nesseled between the Middle mountain, a small town, filled with the hopes of many a Dream chaser.

Crest wood, often called the middle city, was host to many travelers. Amoung these were adventures known as Dream chasers.

Each holding out their hand, and hoping that destiny would give them a chance.

He had decided to rest hear before heading back out.

It had been bad enough that he let the Dream chasers escape, and escape with the very thing he was looking for. Or so he thought.

The man in black had made other plans. The Dream Chasers he had encountered were most likely just looking for random treasure.

He had to wait, for his comrad. As eh stepped into the small town of Crestwood, he could see that the town had been cleaned quickly of the sand. Something that made him laugh to himself.

He walked on, passing the many shops, and people. People rushing to buy, rushing to learn, rushing to forget.

He stopped and entered a small inn, and sat down in the corner, hidden from sight. Just waiting for his comrade.

And she did come.

He knew she was there, the moment she walked threw the door the place reacted. Her hair was long, flaxen, and shinny. Her eyes deep violet. The dress she wore, hung to her knees, revealing a pair of short brown boots.

The men in the saloon began to howl as she walked by. But upon her face, she wore a fixed gaze of harshness.

He did not look up at her when she addressed him.

"And?" She asked siting down across from him. His glass disappeared under his hat as he took a drink. This only caused her to glare harder at him.

"And what?" He said gruffly.

"Did you get it?"

"No, it wasn't there." He said flatly. She leaned back in her chair, her violet eyes narrowed.

"Well we didn't really think it would be there." She said as a man ran up to her holding out a drink. She took it and waved him off.

"No, but still, our machine are seldom wrong."

"But they arent exact either." She said after downing a shot of whisky. "It gives us a ruff estimate after all. For all we know it could be hear."

He shook his head.

"Preahaps its time to look into the old files again, see if we can dig anything new up."

She nodded.

"Yes, but keep it quiet," she said softly. "These backwards locals don't know anything more than just surviving. They couldn't possibly understand what we are doing."

She raised her glass to him, and a cruel cold smile formed on her lips.

"To the future."

He raised his and nodded. There wasn't anything for him to toast, they had yet to find the very thing they needed.

(just kinda a blurb. Please no one notice them yet.)

Ryo smiled as they passed the bar. "I think I will head there once we find your friend a doctor." He then recalled how they said they were going to meet at a inn.

"Gah.... Thats right..." Ryo sighed and shook his head. "Once more I will state even if you don't want me too I am paying for your room Gean."

Ryo smiled, "And don't argue, I have gathered a large sum of gella over my time alone on the desert." He smiled to himself and nodded. "So you know the doctor eh?"

"Yep," she said. "He owns the inn/ saloon. And he's the main reason this town stays so calm. He's a friendly guy, and he knows a lot to. So if your ever looking for some work, hes the one to go to. Plus hes the best cook to."

She stepped into the Inn.

"Hay Tom." Gean said waving at a very large man who was playing the piano. He looked up suddenly, in shock and then stood.

"Gean?" He asked slowly. "But, how? I mean. . I mean I saw. ..the star fall."

He said. Gean bit her lip and then cleared her throat.

"Uh, I don't know the answer to that Tom." She said slowly.

"Twindelwood's been destroyed. I know, the members of the Ark were hear and explained the whole thing. They sent a survey team out there. But you know the desert, towns covered." He looked past Gean and put his hands on his hips.

"So who's your friends."

"This is Ryo, and this is Kailn. Don't worry about them, they wont start anything."

"All the same, ya know the rule Gean. Show um where to put their arms and I'll whip you up my speciality."

Gean smiled and turned to Ryo and Kailn.

"He dost allow arms in hear, you can put them over there by the piano."

((Just some information, the voice that Shek is always talks to is basically himself. It's not anything special, just him trying to reason and deduce things. So. o.o It's not like he's a nut.))

Shek headed outside of Rydar's cabin, "So.. how long do you think it'll take us to reach Crestwood?" He yawned, "I still feel a bit ill, and I'm not sure that heal berries are going to help me out." He winced. Heal berries, while a healing fruit, were still fruit, and Shek knew that his previous condition before the spider was a bit... shakey at the moment.

Hey Shek?
~Yeah?~
Do be so kind, as to explain to me... Why you're going to crestwood?
~Seems to be the best thing to do at the moment.~
So what you're doing, is going to meet up some strangers, in a town you've never been too, right after the sky smashed another town and your other friends?
~I wouldn't call them so much as friends, more like, employers.~
Well.. your employers got squished, don't you feel any sorrow about that?.
~Not particularly, no.~
Why not? The voice sounded frantic, almost angry. Shek replied casually, accidently aloud. "Because they were rude."

Shh! Don't talk to yourself!
~Ooops. Now shut up, you're breaking my concentration.~

Shek put his little voice on mute and started walking off toward Crestwood, hoping the others would catch up with him. "Rydar? Coming?" He called behind him.

Ryo eyed tom, some what distrustful. "Don't let anything happen to my ARM."

Ryo swinged his Arm off his shoulder and set it by the piano, it easily just as tall as the piano. Ryo then walked over towards a table in the middle of the inn. He didn't mind sitting with people, heck some of them might even know him.

"Gean! C'mon over and sit with me!" Ryo smiled as he waved her over pulling out a chair.

"Yeah, right behind you Shek." With that they headed into the direction of Crestwood. They would get there just about two hours the way they were travelling. Rydar, was slightly distracted by the weight in the bag, and shifted constantly, His sword hanging loosely at his side, and his Rifle attached to his backpack in an easy to reach position.

Shek wondered how someone could come to one, not only collect so many ARMs, two, go through life without getting mugged for them. The voice in his head told him it would be rude to ask however.

Shek's ARM was carefully tucked inside his jacket, out of sight and mind of everyone that didn't have X-ray vision.

Shek didn't like two hour walks. He didn't like them at all.

Gean looked over at Kalin and smiled. "Come on Kalin," she said waving. "Don't sit over there by yourself."

She sat down next to Ryo.

The saloon was clean, something strange in its self. The patrons seemed good tempered, and Tom seemed well liked.

"This is probably the only place your going see that's this nice." She said looking over her shoulder at Tom who was hurriedly making something behind the bar.

In the corner of the bar, the man in black looked up quickly.

He laughed and took another drink.

His comrade, however was losing patients.

"So what is so funny?" She asked.

"Those Dream Chasers over there," he said calmly as she turned to look. "They were in that town. At first I thought they took it. But it couldn't have been them. Too slow waited."

"Well, as long as your sure." She said standing.

"Where are you going?" He asked as she turned and ran her hands threw her flaxen hair.

"To have a little fun. Besides, maybe I can find out something you couldn't."

The man raised his glass and took another drink.

"Remember, the boss will be hear soon."

She waved him off and walked towards Ryo and Gean.

"Howdy," She said looking at Ryo. "You got room for one more?"

Around them some of the men Grumbled, and a few shouted for her to join them.

She pulled out a chair and invited herself to sit. She smiled at Ryo.

"Haven't seen you around hear before?" She asked. "Must be a dream chaser huh?"

Gean frowned and rolled her eyes.

"You know most people wait to be invited before they join in."

The woman laughed shrilly and shot a cold look at Gean.

"Oh this little girl must be your sister, cuz you don't look old enough to be her father."

The woman suddenly laughed as she stared at Gean. "My goodness, your eyes. They're just so difrent. I have never seen anything so odd."

Gean suddenly stood, turned on Her heal and walked over to sit with Kalin.

(Sorry if it got long. The woman is just being forceful, and seldom gives anyone a chance to speak. She is very pretty.)

Rydar finally reached the outskirts of Crestwood about an hour and a half after they left the cabin. They managed to make good time once the backpack stopped bothering him. He definitely didn't like the oppressing silence that occurred during the entire. Occasionally Rydar tried to strike up a conversation but Shek definitely did not want to talk.

Upon reaching the town he headed for the place they were going to meet. He entered the inn and stood, searching the place for his friends.

Shek followed Rydar to the inn. He looked exhuasted, as he was still feeling weak from the spiderbites.

Shek always had a funny feeling about inns, he didn't know who was there for honest to goodness sleep, who was there for crime, and who was there for such-and-such a thing.

He looked around for Gaen, spotting her, a man, and another woman at a table, he trotted over, not bothering to ask permission to sit, he was too tired.

Rydar saw Shek heading over to a table and then saw Gean and Ryo and Kalin, but there was another there, an older woman. Rydar was slightly interested as to where she came from she was very pretty, but she seemed to carry herself like one who knew her surroundings.

Rydar walked up to the table " Well, its good to see you all. Shek is doing better as you can see, though not much." Rydar purposely ignored Ryo, he definitely did not like the man, he seemed stuck up with himself. Also, Ryo seemed to have gained the attention of the woman, something Rydar wished he had.

Gean looked from where she was siting and smiled. "I'll be back Kailn," she said standing. She walked over to Rydar and Sheck smiling.

"I'm glad to see you two made it. The doctor's's hear to." She ran over to the bar to get Tony.

"Tony, that guy over there needs some help." She said pointing to Shek.

Tony nodded and stepped out from the bar, he walked over to Shek and looked down at him (he's very very very big). He smiled and smacked Shek on the back.

"Well son, what's your problem? Not feeling well huh? Gean hear said you were sick."

(Kalin and Gean are at a difrent tabel.)

((Table swapping..... confusing))

Kalin stood in bewilderment at the strange woman who had sat at the other table. He got up and went over to greet Shek and Rydar, and to speak with Ryo and the other woman.

He sat at the central table, and looked at the stranger.

"Who are you?"

Plain and simple he thought. Solve a lot of problems at once.

((This was done hastily. Not up tp my usual standards fo RPingness.))
