Yeppers

Unread postby Yari Koneko » Tue Dec 03, 2002 4:00 pm

(OOC: Yep, AoF is cleared and good to go.)

William's l33+ sword skillls quickly shredded through two of his assailant ghosts, leaving only three remaining, all close together. If he was lucky, he could eliminate all of his attackers with a single broad swipe.

Tim swung his blade at a couple of his summoned ghosts gone insane. Instead of simply vanishing, the spirits were sucked into the sword on contact, vanishing into its midnight blue surface. Tim's face showed considerable surprise at this.

IM: Well well well... I had no idea it could do this...

Raishiliah didn't have to fly long to arrive at the agricultural areas south of the city. There, she saw a number of loaded wagons being pulled toward the roads. From her bird's eye view (so to speak), she saw in a nearby dense forest, a clearing with a number of armed men fighting what seemed to be white-clad civilians, who did nothing to fight back. However, one of the men was already down, and those fighting seemed to be flagging slightly. All was not as it seemed.

William raised the edge of his sword to the left of him. With a wide sweep he aimed for the neck of each of the ghosts.

Raishiliah figured that something was amiss, so she decided to check it out. As she flew toward the group, she recognised the 'townspeople in white' to be ghosts. She took hold of her staff (OOC: Staff's description is in my edited post #1) in midair and dived into one of the ghosts and proceeded to whack the rest. She wasn't taking chances with these ghosts.

"I hope that my staff can take all of this wear-and tear. It isn't meant for melee combat," she thought.

She took no notice of the anyone around her, instead resming her whacking. She'd probably taken down two ghosts already. That left a whole lot to deal with. She raised her staff, chanted in a strange language that no one had ever heard of, and then what looked like little squiggly flaming worms shot out of her outstreched hands.

One ghost floated upward, dodging Raishiliah's staff strike as its companion was destroyed below it. It howled loudly and shrilly, piercing the eardrums of all who heard. Their ears rung, obscuring all other sounds. Rai and Thalakos could've sworn they had heard something from Tim about "ambled cereals," but as that didn't make any sense, they probably just weren't hearing correctly.

William's sword cut through one spectre, but before he could dispatch the other two, Rai's blast of fire ripped straight through them... and on to William, scorching him severely.

Rai decided to try using her staff for what it was supposed to be used for; random magic.
She held her staff at arm's length and wheeled around to face one of the ghosts. A stream of light burst from the jewel on her staff. The area was enfulged in whiteness.

"Great. A blindness spell. I end up temporarly blinding myself half the time. I bet that it will make things worse anyway. My staff is COMPLETELY usless by itself," Rai muttered under her breath.

"Hey! Are you trying to behead me or something?" she demanded and quickly summoned a giant floating (what looked like)water balloon over William's head to counteract the fire. She promptly jabbed it with her staff and it popped.
"That should help," she commented, not wanting to lose her head.

"What?! Why would I wan't to kill you? I don't even know you! Sheesh! I was aiming for the ghosts, but no... you have to try to chop off my head! It's not my fault if most of my spells backfire!"

Rai never liked to shut up, even in the midst of fighting monsters, which was definetly apparent.

"If you know they back fire stop doing them then. Or practice so they don't. And I had the ghost under control till you tried to burn my arm off."

William sheathed his sword, and relaxed his stance; subtly implying that she was of no danger to him.

"Look. How was I supposed to know that you had it "under control"? I'm not some high and mighty warrior; I'm just a mage, and a mage that doesn't use her spells is a dead mage. Besides, it's not that they backfire most of the time, it's just that they have the potential to do so, and (how many times...how many, I ask you!!!!) I WASN'T trying to aim for you."

She paused for a moment, looking around. There were still some ghosts left, but not as many as before.

She continued. " Glowworm Flame gets out of control more than I'd like to. Maybe I can give that one a rest.
Speaking of rest, there's still some ghosts surrounding people... are those people? I'll get rid of the remaining ghosts."
*pauses*
" Okay, I know what you're thinking. I'm going to blind you, flame you, or something else dreadful. I'm not going to use my magic, but my staff is about as useful as hitting a rock with a feather. Can I borrow a dagger or something?"Image

Re: Yeppers

The final five ghosts were a strange lot. As soon as Tounami's assailants (as well has herself) had disappeared, Thalakos' attackers changed dramatically, going from a pearly transparent white to a dark, dark black, with eyes as red as rubies, hovering menacingly.

As William's sword cut straight through one of these apparitions, it shattered as they had before. However, instead of returning to the ground, its energies split into four sections and dived into the other, remaining ghosts, all of which became somewhat larger.

Thalakos was considerably fazed from the lifedrain, and probably wasn't going to be able to pull off anything resembling a decent attack.

Which meant that Raishilliah now had a choice before her: would she attempt to only eliminate the three ghosts that she could hit without burning Thalakos, or destroy all four at once, obviously avoiding the UBERGHOSTOFDOOM, but quite possibly also killing Thalakos?

Rai was also changing somewhat. Most people just seem to have fire in their eyes when they're mad, but she actually had flames coming off of them, and they were turning glowing red.
The tips of her wings were becoming black. The ghosts were about to find out what happened when she got really mad.

" Wait a minute! It was one thing when you were just normal ghosts. I was frustrated when my spells didn't work, but that was all. You can't turn suddenly cool looking! That's my job! Now, you're surrounding someone that's obviously weak already! THAT is when I draw the line. You are going to pay for this... DI... err... DIE AGAIN!" she yelled at the ghosts.

Raishiliah ducked, jumped, and flew into the air. She dived at Thalakos and the ghosts, snatching him out of the circle. She started to beat her wings, lifting her into the air again. Rai flew like lightning over to William, depositing him.

"I hope this works..." she thought to herself.

Rai had a plan. If it worked, good, but if it didn't, she could probably grab Thalakos before anything really REALLY bad happened.

"Grab him!" she ordered of William. "Grab him and get out of here!"

Without waiting for any reply from William, she flew to the ground to put her plan into action.

"Alright, you ninnies, now I mean business." she hissed at the ghosts.
The ghosts drew closer to Thalakos. Time was of the essence...
She began whispering to heself, and drew a ten pointed star-like shape around her. A massive ball of flames sprang up in the palm of her hand.

It was time to see if this would really work...
Rai snatched her staff and thrust it into the massive fireball. The entire land went flame-like for a milisecond, and when it cleared, Rai stood amongst the clearing smoke, holding a flaming spear that had been her staff. She was amplifying it by wrapping her wings around it. Her eyes were completely red now, glowing like rubies, and even more of her wings had turned black.

She started spinning in circles, beating her wings. She thrust her staff into one, not even pulling it out and ramming through the ghost to hit the rest.

Rai flew back up before they could retaliate, grabbing Thalakos as she went. She was thoroughly exhausted.

Now the only thing to do was wait to see what would happen.

William quickly sheathed his sword and sprinted to Tim. With one arm William picked up Tim and threw him over his shoulder. He continued to sprint away from the Fire Lady.

"What ever she's gonna do it's gonna be big," William thought as he ran.

A 'lil godmody, but I'll let it fly.

Unread postby Yari Koneko » Sat Dec 21, 2002 4:38 pm

(Interpreting posts to come up with a general idea of what just happened...)
As Rai dived at the ghosts, one of them raised itself to intercept her. Being incorporeal, it couldn't actually block her, per se, but as she passed straight through it, she felt a sudden shock as though she had been quickly dunked in a pool of ice water. A bitter, metallic taste filled her mouth as the smell of decay reeked in her nostrils. Nabbing Thalakos, she flew upward, faster than the ghosts which were seeking to pursue her and the unconscious poison mage. Landing quickly near William, she barked out her request. William sheathed his sword and quickly nabbed Tim. He sagged under the weight (after all, Tim's wearing full plate), and Tim gave a quick kickoff from William's chest, sending Tim through the air, landing on his feet in a catlike fashion.

He said coldly, "I can run my own @$$ out of here, thanks..."

In the meantime, Raishilliah had landed and put Thalakos down. As Tim and William instinctively shielded themselves from the buildup of magical energy, she chanted and casted, her wings and staff bringing focus and power to an otherwise moderately effective fireball. As the power siphoned from her wings and hands, it ran up channels in her staff with licks of flame, coming to the head of her staff and concentrating there, forming a ball of fire that burned brighter than the sun which was now sunk low on the horizon.

With a final word from Raishilliah, it released, spread, and blossomed in a wave over the four ghosts. The others saw the spectral figures waver, bend, release. And then they incinerated, blown away in a firestorm as though they were but fallen leaves. The companions smelt the scent of burning wood and heard the sound of a thousand blast furnaces roaring at once. Tim opened his mouth to shout and closed it quickly as the taste of charcoal made him gag.

And then it was over. Thalakos was barely conscious behind Rai, Tim and William were basically unharmed, and Angel was knocked out, but had not been caught in the blast. The ghosts were gone, not even cinders remaining.

Raishilliah herself felt an upheaval of her stomach. She coughed and blood came out. She threw up, and the blood was mixed with vomit. She had very definitely overexerted herself.

"Very definetly a bed," Rai rasped as she began to cough up more blood.
"I should be fine in a day or so, or less if anyone here can heal."

Her eyes were back to normal, as were her wings. Rai's staff was burnt slightly, but not as much as it should have been from going through that kind of fire. She herself was going to be physically fine, but she was in some sort of berzerker rage that would probably last until Thalakos regained consciousness.

Bah. "GM lucky1 story2 MOVEPLOT"

Unread postby Yari Koneko » Thu Jan 02, 2003 9:58 am

Thus was said conflict resolved. Tim departed then, seeing to other provisions for the long trip. Raishilliah and William took the unconscious Angel and barely conscious Thalakos to an inn to recuperate, rest which Rai badly needed for herself. As night fell on Baron Kingdom, most were asleep. Tim was still awake, and movement could still be heard in the dead of night.

When the first streaks of dawn approached, a stupendous sight had appeared just outside the city. Not only were the wagons there, filled with food, but they were also tethered expertly to what horses were still left in the kingdom. As the families started to trickle in, far slower than Tim would like, they brought their own clothes and personal effects, which were organized by a small group of trusted men.

As our heroes (i.e. you guys) awoke in their inn rooms, the town seemed to bustle with an activity it had not seen in many months.

(OOC:ACk! i'm so sorry i left guys, it seems one day I forgot about everything since my friend died, thank you so much for keeping my character alive and i'll take that as a sign that you wouldn't mind me rejoining?)

Angel awoke early that morning to see several wagons pulling into the city, now bustling with activity, even so early in the morning.

"What teh hell happened..." Angel said to himself as he gripped his head in pain. His weapons were still intact and no body parts were missing so he roughed it out.

He rose and observed teh room he was in, several faces he had not seen before were sleeping in teh room, one seemed to be injured pretty badly. Reaching in his bag he pulled out a cotainer of liquid and set it next to the bed, anyone with teh simplist arcane knowaldge could see it was a healing vial.

Agthering what thoughts he could go on, Angel walked out teh door and out onto the streets, which were crowded by merchents in teh streets, yelling over teh others, trying to get customer attention.

He passed by a merchent who had placed a pipe of tobacco on the wagon. Angel quickly snatched it up and walked away, finding a nice corner to sit in that had a nice veiw of the rising sun.

Taking a few puffs on the pipe he sat back and pondered what had happened, and were he was.

William woke up with a start. He looked around the room and noticed Angel gone. He looked out the window and saw a thief holding his sword.

"Stupid theif..." William said in a wisper.

William held his hand out and grabbed for the haddle. When his hand closed his sword was there. The theif out side was very confused that the sword was now suddenly gone. William stepped out side of the room and into the bar.

A few seconds later William had some beer resting in front of him.

Boron and Kendil were just finishing working on the last wagon in the street. The owner trying to stiff them came up, and gave them half of the agreed payment. Boron looked at him " what is this?"

The owner stared at Boron " the payment minus the food your little friend ate there."

At that Boron glared at Kendil " Well I'm sorry Boron i was hungry, and no one told us it would cost us money to eat and I was hungry and if I didn't get food I was going to explode and I figured since we were fixing the wagon, free food so...."

"Shut. Up." Boron turned to the man. "sorry for my friend here, but did he really eat fifty gold pieces worth of food? Doubtful, I think you owe us another 30." With that Boron picked up the end of the wagon "Unless, you don't want the axle fixed?"

"No no, here you go, but I ain't happy."

"Hmph, like I care." Boron took his money, and then glared at Kendil. "Go to Inn Kendil, get us a room. NO FOOD, and NO WOMEN."

"OK Boron, ok don't worry I won't let you down, I'll get everything you asked for everything, don't you worry..."

"Oh jeez would you shut up and go? Damn its like having an annoying little girl around. I'm gonna try to find this Tim character, we need to get outta here, before we get caught by the locals. Since, he is looking for help and we ARE mercenaries, I will try and get us a job with protecting the wagons."

"Yes, sir." kendil replied with a resigned voice. Kendil stomped off with just enough money to buy the room, and nothing more.

Boron, stepped off into the town, asking along the way for anyone who had seen Tim, with his huge sliver axe glistening in the sunlight off of his back.

A waitress came over and offered the day's special, but Angel passed and asked for some rum. The waitress left but within a few seconds she was back with a large overflowing mug of rum. Angel payed with what very little money he had and took the mug from her hands.

"Thanks," Angel said as the waitress walked away with his money.

he took a sip of his drink and then set it down on the table, the foam poured over the side and lightly touched the table before it stopped it's decent downwards.

(Yep, gold is the currency. And I'm glad you're CIing)

As for Tim, he was already by the wagons outside the city. His mind was full of a myriad of things to do. The first of which should be coming in... now.

Far to the south, a solitary black speck appeared. As it got larger, it was plain to see that it was a very large and very dark crow or raven, coming in at an unnaturally fast speed. As it came within speaking distance, Tim's suboordinates who were already in the area saw it perch on his extended hand. For some time afterward, he seemed to be conversing with it. News from abroad was slow in coming, but it travelled to none more quickly than Tim.

As for Thomas, he was just getting up. With a moan of "I'm getting too old for this," he stumbled downstairs into the main inn and promptly waylaid a waitress, getting some incredibly strong drink to wake him up.

Kendil came into the bar, and instantly those who recognized him put their hands on their pouches. He walked up the waitress "Hey I want a room, NOW. Me and my friend are needed a room for the night." At this the Goblin slammed his money onto bar and said " Come on hurry up I ain't got all day, I don't like waiting."

-----------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, Boron was walking up and down the town asking about Tim. Seeing a man wearing armor standing outside of the city with a large raven on his arm, he walked out towards him. hopefully this is him. Boron was wary though, he knew the towns guards were searching for him and his companion. He decided to stay close enough to listen, and see if anyone addressed him as Tim. Hopefully no guards from the city would notice him.
