Yeah....no, no, it doesn't.

Are you getting these out of a game of some type? There should be a way to make higher-quality captures...oh well. <p>---------------

Yea, these are all basically PSX screenshots. That's what they actually look like, so I'm not entirely sure how it would be possible to get a better quality shot than that. <p><div style="text-align:center">Image</div></p>

I would, like, take that image and filter it to get a better resolution out of that set of characters, but, you know. Shitty programs, and lazy. <p><span style="font-size:xx-small;">"It's in the air, in the headlines in the newspapers, in the blurry images on television. No matter what filters you try to apply to a big, ugly pile of grey squares with little contrast between them, it's always going to end up being an ugly pile of grey squares.

Anyway, it seems like that last one helps explain the relationship between Morden's forces and the Mars People, but we're kind of missing a point about their contact reguarding that destroyed spaceship or something. Too bad :(

Anyway, next up, a little something to soothe the soul!

*GRENADE!*

This hand-held weapon that the Seikigun Tokusho Guntai (Special Army Corps.) brought to the public hands has become a battlefield standard. It moves with the power of the bomb and the speed of a bullet, completely surpassing the power of an everyday soldier. <p>---------------

Okay, I'll admit it, I didn't really expect to find any useful information in that last one. That was totally for the aesthetics.

Also, for this round, I'ma try something a little different. OPTIONS!! I really don't think I've accomplished much in Paint Shop, so we're gonna do this thrice today.

First off, the rhetoric I've sort of been applying for the last couple:

Image

And now, the original, pulled straight from the game, at 1:1 pixel ratio:

Image

And finally, the same thing as last time, only doubled in size for what was supposed to be easier reading but may, actually, be more eye-exploding.

Interesting!

I'd say the first and second have the best quality, we should never need the third one. I'd say keep posting them in the form of the first, but use a 'second' if we need back-up.

Okay, so apparently the mars people actually crash-landed on Earth, and that was the origin of their contact with Morden's forces, but I'm still having some trouble following the logic on that one. It sounds like Morden found out about the crash and sent his troops out there to help the mars people make repairs, but then the segue into General Morden wanting to destroy a planet doesn't make sense.

Also: Allen is a family man! I was unaware! Now I have yet another reason to dig that crazy bastard.

Anyway, moving on. This next one was actually fairly clearly written, so I was thinking that just the straight screenshot would be passable. If it's not, I can always give it the jazz later.

**THE TEAR OF AJIRABIA**

This enourmous stone comes from the underground catacombs of Ajirabia. The exact date of the stone's creation seems to date back past 7,000 years. Even to this date, however, there is still no information about where the stone comes from. <p>---------------

BW needs a Japanese font or something.

ANYWAY!

Today, we've got a two for one special! Mostly because these are also surprsingly legible, and they're also the only two items with extensive text that's anywhere near legible and aren't in the "items" or "people" categories.

If you were going to study Japanese, then yeah, you might want a Japanese font. But right now, does it really help you know that that says "dakedo, ima wa muzukashii yo"?

Hai, muzukashii @_@

Also, you probably already have a japanese typeface.

IE: Right click text, Encoding -> (some entry with 'JIS' in it)
Firefox: View -> Character Encoding -> "Japanese (Shift_JIS)" <p><span style="font-size:xx-small;">"It's in the air, in the headlines in the newspapers, in the blurry images on television. (Sorry...RE4 has devoured my soul as of late. Here's the first one.)

**HIGH-BACK TANK SARUBIA!**

This tank was developed to be like a barricade against all attackers. It moves slowly on the ground, but is equipped with powerful bullets and artillery shells.

**ATTACK JEEP HEAVY-B**

On top of this jeep's ceiling lies a rocket launcher, as this vehicle was designed specifically for launching rockets. It is also the most mobile of heavy weaponry units. <p>---------------

**NEXT MEAT** (The katakana was "Nekusuto"....'Next' is pretty much the only thing that it translates as! I even checked my dictionary. So...that's weird. Unless it's a special word from Metal Slug for something.)

By mixing standard meat with processed diet meat, the NEXT MEAT corporation developed a new type of meat that is three times as healthy! If one eats it, the extent of the power that one gains from the mysterious ingredients has been kept as the company's secret.

(PS. Priam, because it's cool to say "MIIIITO!") <p>---------------

Nick speaks the truth!

Also, given that they did, in fact, use "Miito" instead of the proper Japanese word for meat, it is probable that Molo is right on the money on that "Nekutsuto" jazz. Also probable considering that this "new" meat is apparently vastly improved over the previous meat standard set by whoever was the leader of the MEAT industry before these guys came along.

God I love Metal Slug XP

Next up, it's one of those ones that's probably hard to read, and might be full of eccentric terminology like the Neminato Cock! Hurrah!

These goods are used to feed both normal soldiers and Morden's troops. They are prepared using high-quality ingredients and a vast amount of natural nutrients, and as a result, if are not eaten immediately, will quickly expire. <p>--------

**STRANGE HAPPENINGS AT THE LODGING HOUSE!**

The lodging house in question was positioned in a faraway, cutoff area inhabited by Morden's troops, which also doubled as a graveyard. Deep in the night, soldiers who had been stationed in this lodging house would mysteriously disappear. These kind of mysterious incidents happened until none were left. Without a doubt, it was truly an issue of life and death, and strangely enough, the real truth has never surfaced... <p>--------

That would be the kidnapping of General Morden, which explains the final bossfight in Metal Slug 2/X!

Also, to expidite the processes contained within this thread, I have discovered a useful link! They've got the entire gallery in there, so there's no need to wait for me to upload a screencap! But it also means that, if I don't, I won't be including images directly in this thread and thusly won't be able to resize them for alleged easier readability :( However, this also gives Molo the ability to choose his next passage to translate, if he is so motivated!

Time will tell if this turns out to be a useful alternative.

At any rate, there be treasure. <p><div style="text-align:center">Image</div></p>
