Hellsing OVA

Unread postby Kai » Sun Oct 09, 2005 4:59 pm

A link that sucks but is better than nothing.

Word around the campfire is that it's supposedly going to be closer to the manga than the original series. I, alas, have not had much access to the manga, but I am passing news on to people in accordance with my nerdly duties.
-------------------------

Giant zeps raining vampiric Nazi stormtroopers onto London? A short fat blondie being Hitler's heir? Mysteriously ever-growing boobs? Good God!

Clips from the trailer in handy JPG form.

Also, I'm told that Kohta Hirano refused to allow for a second series of Hellsing until the manga was finished; so, it stands to reason that it'll be slightly more faithful to the manga.

Though I'm also to understand that the original series came out when only the first two volumes were written, so considering that, the series we have might not be all that deviant. Dunno, I only have the first volume.

Anime was pretty close to the manga at first, then big differences appeared. No uber-nazis in the anime, for example. And the anime was less batshit insane than the manga is.

I, for one, prefer the manga: The story in the Anime ends up being "Okay, well, there's more to it, but we're going to stop the series here."

And yes, I believe Dia is correct: The first five episodes of the anime go along with the first few stories from the manga. After that, it's anyone's guess where the story came from.

Jak: The uber-nazis show up within the first two manga volumes?

It's hinted in the second volume, then they show up in the third.

Nobody says a word of the nazis in the first two volumes, just that "someone's up to something." Hence why they never made a show.
