Kyoko took a deep breath in and slid through the half open door letting out a huff of air afterwards. "Aiyah.... That was a tight squeeze....." She then began to run towards the central room of the ship, wondering how the others were. All things considering she thought she might have gotten the luckiest having not gotten a single bump or bruise.....

Tanake was already waiting, along with Jennivere and Calvin. Then Eduardo entered the area quietly, his face downcast. He gestured towards the office, and spoke softly.

"Jon didn't make it."

After a few moments she decided that she might as well try to make her presence known... but what was she thinking? Surely the gods would display themselves to her when they were ready. Any sign of impatience on her part might cause the goes displeasure, and surely she could just wait to see what happened. But what if the gods hadn't noticed her and needed to know of her pressence or perhaps they might accidently crush her with their assume might without even meaning too.

Without thinking further she sent out a simple, not very dignified telepathic message towards the object.

>Hello?<

Her mind raced, thinking of all the possible consequences to her action.

All the crew could hear the voice in their heads, but she received no answer.

* * *

Jenni jumped when she heard it, and Tanake stiffened.

"The hell?" Calvin muttered, lips tightening.

Kyoko grimaced as she walked in. "Oh.... I see.." Kyoko jumped as she heard the voice. She blinked and tilted her head to one side........

"......... Nani? Ake-chan... Jen-chan.... Clavin-Kun....... You all heard that right?" Kyoko glanced at their expressions and guessed she was right. Well if it came from her head why not humor the voice? She simply placed a hand to her forehead and thought in her head,

Konichiwa disembodied voice! Hmmm I wonder if it can hear me? Probably not... I'm just talking to myself like usual I bet.....

Nothing. No response... she had probably angered the gods! Oh no! This wasn't good, not good, not at all. What if they decided just to toast her on the spot, or perhaps some other horrible torturer that they inflicted upon those that displeased them... or if they were kinder jsut would not teach her to harness her magic and let her live in scorn for the rest of her life.

All of these thoughts caused her not to watch where she was going causing her to trip and fall flat on her face in the dirt near the ship.

Derrik extracted himself from under his console, having remained there for several moments after impact, to make sure the place wasn't going to fall to pieces around him. Once he was satisfied that all was clear, he pulled himself out and did the first thing that entered his head. He spit viciously on the floor, letting all his ire at their current situation out in the small blob of spittle. Then he looked around the engine hold, spotting Phillipe over by the far wall, and Liam, partially visible over to his right. He sighed and walked over to Phillipe, collecting a few loose tools as he did so.

"Hey," he asked, reaching around and carefully bracing his shoulders with one arm, "You OK?"

Liam let go of the girder and slowly drug himself out of his little compartment in the engine. "Aye, I'm alright, but methinks we need a new emergency landin' procedure..."

Slowly, in the most dignified manner one can have, picked herself up from the gronud, and knelt, her feathery orange antennae twitching.

>I apologize for any impatience I may of shown by calling out, your worshipfulnesses, but I beg for forgiveness and that my mortal weaknesses might be excused.<

What if she was jsut annoying them more! hope they don't decide that her people are a nusince and wipe them out... but these are gods that left to protect her people, she was simply overreacting.

Derrik gave Phillipe a once over, and then gently laid him back down. He still didn't seem to be all present. "Best not to move him right now. I'll go see if I can scrounge up some medical personel. Keep an eye on him, Liam. If he wakes up bring him to the mess hall. I think that's where people will meet."

He walked back to his toolkit and picked it up, figuring it would be a good idea to take it with him, and was about to leave when he heard a strange voice in his head which drew him up short. Come to think of it, there might have been something like that earlier, but he was still a bit to dazed to notice it. "Are you hearing something strange, Liam?"

Time to move this along. Myeah.

Sylavi received a telepathic message from the head priest, Yeran as she waited.

>Sylavi? The watchers found something descending.... and it landed near the mountains. Can you check on it, since you are near?<

* * *

Eventually, all of the crew, minus Jon, Sam, and Candice were assembled, Phillipe recovering, and Tanake looked over them with a grim set of her lips.

"Eduardo already explained that Jon is dead—" she said the word flatly, giving it no particular resonance or emotion, but her grip on her gun tightened subconciously. "But we still need to find Candice and Sam. Sam should be in the communications room, if he's still alive, or at least near it. Calvin, Phillipe, and Jenni— I want you three to check on him. Kyoko, Eduardo, and Liam— I want you three to go look for Candice. She should probably be in her quarters.

"Derrik, I want you to come with me to check on something. Edmund, you stay here and relay messages if necessary."

Edmund nodded somberly at Tanake's orders, "Yes captain." he said simply and began to pace. Eventually he stopped and bowed his head and prayed for those unaccounted for and the man that had passed away.

He had finally made it to another planet, but the circumstances were nothing like he had imagined they would be...

"Kyoko, slow down!" called Eduardo, adjusting the speed of his wheelchair to catch up with the Japanese pilot. Even so, Kyoko reached Candice's room first, followed by the grumbling Liam.

The doctor glanced at the door, furrowed his bushy eyebrows, then rapped on it.

"Candice? You in there?"

* * *

Jennivere and Calvin, with Phillipe in tow, soon arrived at the doors of the communication center... which were wide open, but with shards and shambles of the room protruding from the doors.

"....if Sam is still in there...." whispered Jenni softly. Then she gave a violent tremble, almost a shudder, and winced. Calvin looked at her unsympathetically.

* * *

Tanake led Derrik to the entry/exit ports of the ship, and spoke softly.

"Before I called the crew meeting, I happened to be near these... and they're locked. I tried the codes, but they didn't work. Since I doubt that this ship is going to be flying again, we have to find a way to open them if we want to get out. I was thinking.... you have that hand-torch, don't you? Do you think you could melt down enough pieces of the gates for us to have a way to leave?"

JoshuaDurron

Re: Re:I'm Back...

Derrik looked over the doors with a critical eye. "Yeah, I probably could. It would take me some time, though, maybe half an hour. If the door won't open, the mechanism's probably jammed, so we could be up against a rock, or some such thing, or we could even be under water. Your choice, captain, if you want it opened all you gotta do is say the word."

SALSAlys

Wai!

Unread postby SALSAlys » Wed Apr 23, 2003 12:25 pm

Tanake frowned slightly, then rapped the back of her knuckles against the door, as if measuring the sound they gave.

"....hold on. Not yet. I want to get the rest of the crew to have supplies and things ready for moving out. I heard SOMETHING out there, something that was speaking to us without words— and I want to find out what the hell it is. This whole sequence of events seems hard to swallow."

Tanake frowned again.

"All right. I want you to see if you can find out what the surroundings are like. The cockpit should have a better view, or if not, I think that you can figure out something else. Me, I'm going to get Edmund to tell the rest of the crew to pack up their things." With that, she turned and began walking back, evidently trusting Derrik to use his own initiative to come up with results.

* * *

Tanake went back to Edmund, but paused when she saw him praying. Her face softened slightly, waiting for him to finish.

Praying.... been so long since I've done that, she mused to herself before shaking her head slightly.

When the scout finished and looked up, she spoke briskly.

"I want you to hunt down the rest of the crew and tell them to pack their things up. We need everything we can carry, and probably a few things we can't. That includes weaponry, food, tents, maybe even some of the tool kits, the other radios if we can get them to work, over half a million things I'm going to forget to mention.... and see how much the engineers can fix up." Tanake rapped the mouthpiece of her intercom unit in demonstration of the silence. "This is on the fritz, and I expect a lot of our equipment to be in the same condition."

Derrik stood by the closed hatch for a moment, considering what he could do. At least he knew he wasn't the only one who had been hearing strange things back in the cargo hold. Deciding that there was no point in just standing around musing, he turned and hurried up to the cockpit. Scanners had been the first thing to go, so he didn't intend to rely on them, even the small circut scanners he had in his kit, although they would be easy enough to modify for other purposes. Rather, once he managed to squeeze in the door to the cockpit, he took a glance around surveying what was intact. The most obvious thing was the engines. In atmosphere, they drew in a supply of air in order to increase thrust from the output, and compensate for airfriction and gravity. He decided to start there, and tried to coax one of them back to life. It would be easy to determine what was being sucked in just by sound.

When Derrik checked the engines, it gave only a sputtering start, nowhere near good enough to take off again— but it had the sound of air.

* * *

"Just hold on a bit," Eduardo replied to Candice, examining the door. "Phillipe? Can you use some of your tools to get the door open?"

She waited, and waited, beginning to sweat, she felt so stressed that she jsut wanted to scream. What could she do? Get up? What if that insulted the gods, they hadn't appeared before her yet. After a few minutes, and some of her muscles beginning to ache from the position, she stood up, and brushed herself off. She stepped up to the metal object and laid her hand against the cool side of it, its luster reflecting in her eyes with the sun. Perhaps the gods were not saying anything because they could not, perhaps they needed to free themselves from this metal encasement... or have someone else free them....

While Kyoko was making her comments, Liam had already made his way to the side of the door, and was ripping the paneling off, revealing the mechanisms used to open said door. Rather unceremoniously, he began pulling random parts out, in an attempt to make it easier to open the door manually...

The only thing in the cockpit that looked like it could be removed and even slightly useful was the webbing that Kyoko usually sat in.

* * *

Eduardo shrugged at Kyoko, giving her a slight wave before he maneuvered himself to the door. Setting the locks on his wheelchair, he then braced himself slightly, causing the door to come partway open.

"Candice?" he grunted slightly. "Do an old man a favor and see if you can help pry it open from your side."

Krysta, Phillipe, and Calvin received Edmund's message, and dispersed to gather up their equipment.

* * *

Candice's room door opened up, and then after the physician and the scout pried it open al lthe way, it got jammed in that position, so the woman could exit without any problems.

That was when Edmund turned up, briefly telling them to gather up their equipment and all other portable supplies before dashing off to do so himself.

* * *

Sylavi's message echoed in the minds of the crew members, but the Eyallan priestess got no answer.

Kyoko blinked and nodded to herself. "Gather our stuff? Okay!" She ran down the halls to her room looking about and pulling out her bag that she had used to sneak her Gun on board. She walked over to the bed and pulled the gun out from underneath it. "Ahhh my baby! Your alright..." She hugged the gun close to her chest before placing it in the bottom of the bag. She then put the energy cells for the gun in the bag as well. After that she began to pile her undergarments on top of it first, then her extra clothes.

She tried to zip up the bag but grumbled, as it was to full. She picked out a few of her smaller articles and put them in her smaller bag which she kept her very small amount of make-up. She then slung the first bag over her shoulder after zipping it up and picked up the smaller one.

"Okie dokie! Back to the central room!" Thus Ryoko trekked back to where they were earlier hoping that Ake-chan wouldn't want to go through her things....

Derrik, after informing the captain of the ship's status as best he could determine it, grabbed his toolkit, his clothes, and his diary, and returned to the exit hatch. About that time, he heard the next of the serries of increasingly longwinded, somewhat disturbing voices talking in his head. He frowned once to himself, and looked about to see if anyone else was in the area. There didn't seem to be, so he looked back at the hatch. Plenty of time to worry about creeping insanity once he got everyone out of the ship. He began inspecting the hatch to figure out how to best open it.

Phillipe bent down to open the hatch under his bed when the strange voices echoed in his mind. His headache, already horrible, got even worse when he rose to quickly and slammed his head in the leaning roof.

"<span style="color:gray;">Ow Fuck!</span>" He yelled as he held to his head. Soon enough though, the pain disappeared and he again bent down.

"<span style="color:gray;">Must've been those damn bangs, I'm hearing things...</span>" he growled for himself as he dug out several small hand-held guns.

"<span style="color:gray;">Better be prepared for anything...</span>" He mumbled and headed back to the others.

The crew were assembled with their gear, and Tanake was looking over the faces of her crew carefully.

That voice...

* * *

The energy gathered above Sylavi's hand, until it grew to sufficient size that the mage hurled it at the ship, intending to break or melt it open...

* * *

Tanake, meanwhile, was thinking rapidly. She thought she remembered the others reacting to the voice as well... implying that it WAS real, or else just some kind of group delusion...

"Hit the floor!" she shouted, dropping flat on the ground before a flash of heat filled the room, and the walls and ceiling were twisted grotesquely.

* * *

From outside the ship, Sylavi could see that her fireball had melted open a patch in the ship, but no-one was visible inside. The roof of the creation had been melted slightly, slagged and buckling in on itself, and the walls were warped.
