"Yes, I have no doubt in the abilites of our army..." Kumenil said thoughtfully after the speech was over. "And neither do I have any lack of faith in our queen... but I've been... no... nothing. As the queen said, merriment is a sweet thing to favor. Let us enjoy this new life of peace and prosperity." Kumenil smiled slightly, but he felt himself that the smile seemed more plastered on his face. He KNEW nothing bad could happen. The initial spell to make the island had gone off smoothly, which meant that the most dangerous part was over. Still he felt like something was amiss, that something wasn't quite right...

"Let us not speak of this matter anymore, for such dark thoughts don't do this day fair." He said finally.

Kaili nodded calmly Jet letting out a mew once more. "Yes I do, it is a small spell. But it creates water none the less. I use it to create myself a drink for me or Jet usually." She pointed to Jet who was sitting on her head grooming himself, then looked back to Mura.

Kaze still hadn't found his parents. It was a long shot, but he let his eyes drift close, and stretched out his astral senses, trying to locate their own magical signituares. He was caught up in a wash of mana flows, most in the peak of good natured agitation, meaning most people were enjoying the festival. But one or two here and there seemed a bit disturbed. He couldn't figure out why, but dismissed it as irrelivant. He sank deeper into the flow of mana, still searching for his parents...

"Then perhaps you could be of help, yes" The Guru of life says to Kaili. "A great help, perhaps. But a help nonetheless. Go to the manor in a few days, perhaps tomorrow, and register there. A quick Registry. Yes, quick. Then I will find you when I need you. When you are needed, I'll seek you out..."

****

Kaze could not find any sign of his parent, as he sank deeper into the flow of mana. There were simply too many mages around.

A sharp pain to his face suddenly snaps Kaze from his mana sensing. He sees that he managed to walk face first into the back of a mage in half plate. As that mage, a blonde-haired man, turns to face him, Kaze can see a silver badge on the man's armor...

Kaze backed up in surprise, and bowed in appology to the Argent guard, which he assumed the man to be.

Ardiss had watched the speech like all the rest, and actually started listening at the mention of the Guru of life.

What he could do with fire that would help with the water project, even to his mind, was hard to see, but he had to go offer assistance regardless. Foolish a thing as it might seem for an 18 year old to do.

He approached the Guru, and noted he was already in discusion with a young woman. Hewould have to wait, as it simply wouldn't do to interupt the Guru.

Kaili smiled as Jet hopped down into her arms, her holding him to her chest. "Thank you sir! I appreciate this!" She bowed politely and made a mental note to register at the palace tomorrow. Jet mewed at the guru in thanks letting out a soft purr afterwards. "Oh, and before I go, I thought you should know this here is Jet." She motioned down to Jet who was purring softly still. "I shall take my leave now sir, enjoy the rest of the festival." She bowed once more and slowly turned around heading into the crowd.

Thinking about many things, she aimlessly walked around the square while eating the last bit of her snack.

Ardiss swallowed hard, and took the oppourtunity to approach The Guru of Life.

IM: Hello sir... is there anyone a fire mage could help with the water project? ... I am so doomed.

"Greetings sir. We all heard the Queen mention your project to develope a water source for Zeal, and I was curious if there was any way a Fire mage might be able to assist?"

He waited for a reply, externally calm, but there was the feeling in the pit of his stomach like a lead weight...

"Oh....right....Aoki. Nice to meet you. I'm going to go look for the guru of reason now." With that, a very awe-struck Talos took off in search of the said guru.
~Wow. Just wow. This is what I've been waiting for all my life! This is it! I've got to find her, to convince her! I've got to help with this!~ Talos ran, hardly noticing man nor beast, intent on finding the Guru.

The Guru of Reason, Taura Orochi, was a rather unmarkable woman at first glance. Neither tall, statuesque, nor especially beautiful, little distinguishes her from the crowd save her elaborately trimmed robes.

But those robes are more than enough for Talos to find her, as she sits upon a rock, enjoying music of a particularly talented Minstrel.

Looking over as the young scholar approaches, Taura arcs an eyebrow. seeming a little annoyed by the disruption, and says, "Yes?"

****

"Fire magic, I don't know," Mura says, more to himself than to Ardiss. "No I don't. I'm just not sure. No no... I don't know if you could help. I just don't.

"Protection, maybe? Yes... Protection. The lands are not tame, no no... Leave your name with the palace, yes. That is for the best."

****

"You okay," asks the Argent Guard, as he looks down on Kaze, "Didn't hurt yourself too bad, I hope?"

Professor got a screw loose...

Postby Besyanteo » Tue Dec 17, 2002 1:28 am

Ardiss nodded gratefully.

"Thank you sir, you won't regret this!"

With that he turned and head for the palace, practically walking on air. He had a job working with the Guru of life!
... Albiet as a guard, true, but everyone starts somewhere!
All he had to do now was leave his name at the palace, and he'd have a chance to show of his skill, and if he could find some free time to speak with the Guru, possibly his intellect! Well, one step at a time. For now he'd have to settle for grunt work, as he thought of it.

Kumenil nodded slightly as the young woman left. He started moving slightly towards the palace, hoping perhaps to meet with one of the gurus. He'd only meet them sparcingly, in the library usually, and he was curious to hear more about what they were planning to do.

"Mistress of Reason, Taura Orochi, I make a humble request."
~Smooth move, nimrod. See if you can salvage it.~

"I wish to pledge my services and life to the future of Zeal, to offer my help to begin this new era. I wish to sacrifice my time and effort to further help the people of Zeal, to make certain that they shall not suffer under the eternal storm or other ever again."

~Okay, I think I did well. At worst, she'll just tell me to go away.~

Talos was quite obviously feeling a little flustered by the time he finished.

Kaze rubbed his nose gently, but showed no other signs of discomfort. His ferret skittered around to his left side and sniffed at Kaze's face, as if assuring himself that his owner hadn't changed from the impact.
Kaze wieghed his options in his mind. This man was a guard, perhaps he knew what step he should take next. "I am fine. But I cannot find my parrents in this crowd."

Postby Yari Koneko » Tue Dec 17, 2002 4:24 pm

Aoki got up; there was nothing to do where he was sitting save eat more bread.

Striding through the crowds, he made mental note of the Gurus as he saw them... but where was the Guru of Time? Surely one of his skills could enjoy considerably more comfort under the employ of the queen, especially directly under a Guru. And he had already proven a few times that whatever he designed was one of the strongest and most economical around; so he was confident he could be needed. He, of course, saw how his abilities could be useful with the water problem, his particular idea would require a permanent passageway to the world below, so he discarded it. Although he didn't really see how he knew, the Guru of Time would be one of the most skilled, and surely the most trusted, as Time is one thing that you only entrust to the most honorable.

As such, he strode onward, looking around.

The Argent Guard looks at Kaze, and runs a hand through his hair. "Your parents, eh? Umm, what do they look like? Maybe I can help you out?"

****

Aoki found the Guru of Time, Elaith Carnist, studying a statue of King Suo I near the edge of the Square. He is the youngest of the Gurus, in his early thirties, and the most handsome of them. "The old boy's happy now, I'll bet," Says the Guru to himself, and he pat's the statue as though it were a friend. He then looks over to see Aoki, and starts.

"Oh! Excuse me!" the Guru says, scratching at the back of his head, "Just prattling on, I suppose. People always told me I acted twice my age when I was a boy. I suppose that has remained with me, eh?

"What can I do for you?"

Rather than answer the guard directly, Kaze closed his eyes and concentrated. A few seconds later, the shadowy forms of two Dopplegangers formed. One was the thin, blond image of his mother, the other was the taller, brown headed person who was his father. There was a striking resemblence between father and son.
"They look like this." Kaze finally spoke. His eyes opened and stared dispasionately at the guard, their dual black and gold gaze a bit unsettling.

Today's Lesson: Don't show off in front of the Queen's Guard

Postby Uncle Pervy » Tue Dec 17, 2002 10:19 pm

The Argent Guard chuckles, then glances around. "I don't see them anywhere nearby."

He then pick up a loose stone from the ground, and closes his eyes for a moment. Then he opens them again, and stares at the shadows while kneading the stone with his hands. After a few seconds, he uncovers the stone to reveal a small, perfect stone miniture of the two shadowy dopplegangers. The two little statues are joined on a single base.

"That should last for about an hour before it melts away," he says, handing the miniture to Kaze. "Just show it around, and I'm sure that someone will have seen them."

Kumenil walked around the square some more, but seeing as nothing else would probably happen, but as soon as he was about to leave, he noticed the presence of the guru of life. Kumenil considered what the queen had said, about the project of making a source of water.

He quickly made his way over to the guru and seeing as the man was alone he stepped up to him and made a graceful bow.

"Forgive me, master guru." He began. "But I couldn't help but hear of your project, and it fascinated me greatly... I would like to know more about it, if you allow it."

Walking around the festival of sorts, Sayra came across a bench with very few people loitering around it. it was nice to get off her feet from walking around most of the day. So she more then happily sat down, crossing her legs .
Stretching out, Sayra looked up to the sky and savored everyminute of the sunlight she could.
..'mmm she thought'

Uncle Pervy

It begins? Maybe

Postby Uncle Pervy » Wed Dec 18, 2002 8:17 pm

"Yes, the water project," Mura says, Kumenil "A great deal of interest that. Everyone is interested, yes. No one wants to go thirsty."

The Guru then looks at Kumenil and asks, "You wish for a reward? The money is what you want, yes? Money, yes, to replace the money you have lost."

He punctuates the last statement with a look at Kunemil's coin pouch, which now bears a large cut along the bottom. presumably, all the money he had in it fell from this cut.

****

Stretching out on the bench, Sayra felt quite warm and comfy in the sunlight. Such a simple pleasure, it seemed, yet so luxurious to one who had grown up in the Eternal Blizzard.

Also, she felt something brush lightly against her hip, inside her pocket.

"The project the Queen was speaking of. I wish to help, in whatever way I can. I'm a professional scholar of magic, a very good one. I know that you probably don't give a rat's ass, but I've been waiting for an oppertunity to do something like this my entire life, to help people in a major way instead of minor."

"Scholar, are you?" Taura asks, "Looking for something to do? Heh heh. See, it isn't that hard to speak like you have an ounce of sense. Now, you want to help out, eh? Well, you'll get your chance soon enough. You see, the Queen's going to be running us ragged designing new things left and right. I'm certain that if you have half the talent you claim too, we can put you to work.

Kumenil clenched his fist and growled, but didn't say anything more on that matter. It disturbed him that even though the recent events, some people would still resort to stealing rather than working for the good of everyone.

"But no, I have no wish for a reward, if there was one." Kumenil sighed. "I was merely curious, that is all. However, should you be in need of a guide or a guardian if you wish to travel our lands, I'd be more than happy to assist."

Jolting up from the slight brush up against her leg, Sayra's eyes darted around scanning the small area.
Maybe it was some kids playing a small trick on her or a lone piece of paper that blew down here from the square.

Kaze had finally found his way back to his parents, much to his satisfaction. After giving them a quick summary (brief even for him) of what had happened, he quietly fell behind his father, who was chatting buisily with another noble, not really paying attention to what was around him. Kaze allowed his eyes to drift absently. His black eye lost focus, part of his mind on his latest string of magical formulas and ideas, the other vigilantly watching what was around him with golden ferocity.

Aoki's performance was well-done for the amount of time he had to prepare it (a.k.a. ZERO), as he bowed low to the Guru, basically "scraping the ground," as it were. Such an honorable figure deserved respect.

"If I may be brief, sir, I am Kazuhiko Aoki, a humble architect seeking employment. As the queen did not mention the projects of either you or the honorable Guru of Reason, I thought to inquire as to the nature of them, and see if I could be of assistance."
