Carlae, who for one WASN'T almost finished, stretched her limbs before replying.

'To put it simply, I'm not. I need some funds to help serve the people to my best capacity. This is a good way to get such money.'

Elena nodded in thanks and started the process of eating. Rather fast, too. She was not quite the most used to such food, and this was surely a welcome change... Exile food is always Exile food...

Jason turned his head and looked at the one with the food.

"I should eat right now shouldn't I."

Jason stood up, walked over, ad for the first time politly asked for some food.

"Help people? I guess that's reason enough. I need to worry about myself first, though...I'm nearly out of money, which is what brought me to Fort Emergence in the first place. Don't you think there are...safer ways of raising money for people, though?"

Continuing to eat, Keldorn noticed Elena and wondered how someone could eat so fast...

As Elena had noted, what she was eating was, indeed, Exile food. Add to that the fact that it was being eaten rather fast, and you had a recipie for an upset stomach...

((Elena failed a constitution roll, and in half an hour she will become moderately ill, resulting in mild slowing effects and combat penalties. She will remain in this state for the next four hours, or until she recieves curing, either in the form of medicinal herbs, the proper potion, or magical curing. Finally, it disturbs me that the OOC portion of this post is longer than the IC portion. I'll try not to let it happen again... ^_^;;))

Keldorn looked up from where he was sitting, reached into his pack, and pulled out some more food for Jason.

"Sorry...haven't got anymore plates, though..."

IIIO

Unread postby Nick Shogun » Mon Jan 27, 2003 8:17 pm

Genji, who had become bored of poking the ground and the trees around him with his spear, now turned his attention to Elena. Without bothering to ask, Genji strode over to where she was sitting, grabbed the book she had just set down, and opened it up, flipping through the pages beside Elena's position. Of course, Genji couldn't read.

"Aye. What odd symbols dese are. Is dis supposed to be a drawing of some-teng?"

Jason cupped his hands and held them infront of Keldorn.

Angel sat with his robes off, revieling his cloth armor underneath. With his robe off, the rest could see the garnet sword, hanging in it's sheth, from his girdle.
Angel pulled out a small book, easily able to palm it and carry around. He pulled out an inkwell and a feather from a pouch, full of other feathers. After carefully dipping the end of the feather in the ink well, he began to write something in the book, on an empty page. his chicken scratch was almost unreadable, and his writing skills wern't to good.

Odd symbols? Why, the stupid Nephilim wouldn't be able to recognize such symbols of power. Why, in those "odd symbols" were the power to control the universe, and bend it to your will. Those "odd symbols" were what she had always lived for... More than once.

"Hm? You really have no idea how to read or write?"

Elena was surprised. She wasn't quite used to interacting with the less educated people, and this was quite foreign.

"Uh... Okay, sorry then" she said, still confused from that fact.

Pulling a wrapped package of ration from his pack, Keldorn handed the food to Jason, and turned back to Carlae.

"So what do you need the money so quickly for, then?"

Angel continued to scribble in the small book he had. out of the blue, as if having a conversation with someone, he announced, "Yeah, someday i'm gonna put this all together and write a story about my life," he said with a smile as he continued to write in his book.

OMG! UNICORNS??!!! (And Genji makes an impressive init roll)

Unread postby JoshuaDurron » Tue Jan 28, 2003 8:54 pm

Bookwriting, questions, and adaptation to the uneducated was suddenly to become a moot point, as the pleasent break by the side of the campfire was interupted by the sound of snorting, and a hoof beating on the ground.

Six heads whipped around to see two tall, grey four-legged beasts. Horses in Exile were something of a legend, but it was still possible for them to recognize their general form. Except, nowhere in the surface lore kept in Exile were horses mentioned to have a horn growing from between their eyes...

There was a moment of brief silence, as the five Exiles stared in awe at the beasts. Then the moment was shattered as a spear flew across the clearing and burst through the neck of one of the unicorns. Immidiately, the other turned to flee.

Stunned, the five humans from underground turned to stare at Genji. The Nephilim hunter had immidiately recognized the nasty, carnivorus beasts, and taken measures to ensure that their party remained safe. But now, it appeared, he would have some explaining to do...

((OOC: Nick, don't for get to RP a retriveal for that spear...))

(ooc: Is it normal for the GM to dictate who does what in a fight like that? Or did you talk to Nick about it over AIM or something?)

Keldorn blinked, then turned to face the Nephilim.

"What...what the hell is that thing? And why'd you kill it like that?"

Jason just looked at Genji.

"Genji, I have one question. Why?"

JoshuaDurron

It was based on his background, and hunting skills...

Unread postby JoshuaDurron » Tue Jan 28, 2003 9:59 pm

((Really, Genji's actions would be more reflexive than the result of concious though. And also, such things happening in the Exile games is not entirely uncommon, no. But I'll try not to do it to much...))

The other unicorn, finding itself ignored, turned tail and disappeared into the forrest. The only thing it could be doing was going for the rest of the herd. Genji would need to convince the party to leave. And fast.

Angel turned towards Genji with an odd look on his face.

"Um..." Angel said as he stared down Genji. This was the first time he ever actually got a good look at Genji and his well-build, Masculine body.

By the way he threw that spear, Angel knew he had some kind of hunting backround.

"didn't the general explain these unicorns to us? weren't they dangerous?" Angel said looking towards the rest of the party.

(He's recollecting what the general said, trying to get on Genji's good side)

Elena looked at the unicorn, and prepared to fling one of yonder balls of fire should he still be in sight.

Genji: Looooozerz.

Unread postby Nick Shogun » Wed Jan 29, 2003 2:42 pm

Genji grimaced and stared down at the petite character known as Angel. A frown suddenly turned upside down, and Genji was smiling, his jagged teeth a constant struggle to interlock with one another.

"Had you ever seen dat sort ah creature before? Deli-tus in my home. We eat dem, and dey all went away."

Several travellers stared at him with horrified expressions.

"What? You all said id yerselves-- Genji was getting hungry. Now hurry, or we not catch de oder."

Genji ran off in the direction of the horse, first stooping down to retrieve his spear.

And Nick does something I am unprepared for...

((Serves me right, I guess.))

As Genji hurried through the bush, he became completely engrosed in the experience of hunting his prey. Sights, sounds, smells, they all streamed into his senses, drawing him closer and closer to his prey. Finally, he he could see the unicorn once again. It was standing by the side of a stream, panting hard. It had been joined by four more of it's kind. Genji, expert hunter or no, knew that five unicorns together could be extremely dangerous. It was up to him to wait for the others, or try and take them down now...

Angel, picked up his bow and left his robe behind to reduce noise. He smilied with anticapation as he ran with were genji ran. Angel always enjoyed hunting, but never had the time to do it. He knelt down next to genji and readied his bow, waiting for an order to shoot.

Keldorn shrugged.

"Eh...I'm no hunter, and from what you've told me, you're not either. And, seeing how easy it was for Genji to take this one down, they should have no problem bringing one more down. Besides, we should stay here and watch our stuff. They'll be fine, I'm sure."

MMM... Food!

Unread postby Nick Shogun » Thu Jan 30, 2003 12:27 am

[OOC: Josh, I had NO IDEA what you were trying to accomplish with the unicorn thing. I just assumed Genji's reaction to them would be food.]

Genji crouched beside a tree across from the unicorns, giving them a tangent distance of at leat twenty feet. He could easily throw a spear from that length, but whether the momentum and aim worked together, that was a different story. To add to that fact, Genji only had two spears, and despite his overwhelming size, he could easily be seriously hurt through any close-range battle.

The Nephillim flinched as Angel bent down beside him, bow ready. If they worked together, they might be able to cut the unicorns' numbers in half. To add to the drama, Genji could hear another member of his group crashing through the underbrush behind them.

Genji spoke to Angel without even turning to look at him, ordering him as he was used to in the surge of the hunt. "Boy... take da shot whenever you got it..."

Elena whispered to the others as she neared them:

She continued

"even if you shoot, you probably would only be able to get one of them. Let me try, maybe I can get them all or most of them with one of my spells..."

By the river, the unicorn from the camp had been giving off a string of whinnies and snorts, as if talking to it's companions. But now it stopped, and began looking about the bush, seeming to sense that someone was on it's tail. If the hunters were going to make a move, now was the time...

"Well, no time to decide NOW!" she practically yelled as she prepared one of the spells which yonder mages are so known for...

(OOC: And... If I can cast it...)

She chanted, as a red ball of magic materialized in her gloved hand. Flinging the ball towards their middle, she yelled out

"Take THAT!" and waited, hoping that everything would go for the better.

(OOC: Fireball in their middle, aye.)

JoshuaDurron

o.o;; Low damage roll...

Unread postby JoshuaDurron » Thu Jan 30, 2003 3:23 pm

The unicorns, already a bit alert, were made completely away by Elena's yell. Rearing up, they pulled back and scattered, causing her fireball to land in their midst... in the center of the river. Most of the flames hissed out instantly, but the explosive force kicked up gallons of steaming hot water, which lashed over several of the unicorns, clearly causing them great pain.

One of the unicorns, which had been standing in the river was knocked over, and was slow to rise. Three more got badly scalded. The fifth, and also the one who had first noticed their presence, managed to escape completely. With an angry whinny, it lowered it's horn and charged.

---------

Not far off, Jason could here the sound of the explosion, and make a guess as to where the battle was taking place. It was also audible at the campsite, although what Keldorn and Carlae would decide to do was up to them.

[OOC: Battle order of Init. is:

Genji
Unicorn 1
Angel
Unicorn 2
Unicorn 3
Unicorn 4
Elena
Unicorn 5

Jason will arrive at the beginning of the next turn. Keldorn and Carlae are currently inactive.]

DARKNESS!!

Unread postby Nick Shogun » Thu Jan 30, 2003 10:26 pm

Genji knew the obvious tactic. Take out the closest enemy, and by doing so, gain enough breathing room to fight off the rest. He grunted in resentment of such a seemingly useless battle, but his stomach growled like a wolf, and so he was obliged to agree.

Standing up and stepping out from his hidden position, Genji let fly the dogs of war. His spear flew toward the charging unicorn. Fate would dictate its course.

JoshuaDurron

A hit!

Unread postby JoshuaDurron » Thu Jan 30, 2003 10:58 pm

Genji's spear flew with unerring accuracy and stabbed the charging unicorn through the heart. With a thud, it fell to the ground, clearly quite dead. So far, the hunters had been lucky, taking down their prey before it became a threat, but now three of the beasts had formed a line, and were advancing forward with a ferral look in their eyes.

[Angel's turn]
