Rick nodded. "We don't get too many fivers 'round here. But watch yourself. You look a little like a dragon, and that ain't good. Just don't get yourself killed." He took the money. "And have a great day!"

Pervy smiled and nodded. "Can't have them bloody dragons," he agreed. "Dun worry, Zukath's a good sort. What about maps, though? Ye know where we can get a decent one?"

"Map?" Rick laughed. "That's a good one. Didn't you know that it was illegal to carry maps? Well, it is a new decree, but still, I burned up all of mine. Can't have the army going after me." He smiled wistfully.

Nagan sighed.
This was NOT going well.
No maps, no magic...bloody hell. In fact, he doubted that nothing could possibly go RIGHT on this trip. Nah. No, nothing could go right. Not at all. Not without being able to use magic. Nothing was _ever_ right in a land without magic using.
And he wanted to find out who was responsible for these ridiculous laws and fling him off a cliff. And then he realized something.

How could you detect magic unless you were a magic user?

"Alright matey," Pervy says, "Thanks fer yer help, Sir."

With that, Pervy steps aside for Kelne and Zukath. In the meantime, Ushyu looks around the store.

The store was unimpressive. There were a few random items here and there, but other than that, not much. There was also the potions, but they were marked upwards of a thousand gil, and it said that only humans could purchase them.

There was a brief commotion outside, and an inujin ran into the store. "RICK!"

The nekojin walked over. "What is it?"

The inujin gasped. "THEM."

Rick's eyes opened wider. "It's been too damn long. Bring them in here." With that, the inujin disappeared out the door.

Nagan nodded, and rubbed his chin.
"Well, guys, I think we are going to be in a bit of trouble here. Y'know, since I'm sure international relations can't be too good around here..."

Ha! See? I can keep a guise up!

Rick looked puzzled. "International? There's only one nation, and five subsidiaries. What planet were YOU from?" He rolled his eyes, then focused on Nagan. "No, seriously. What planet ARE you from? Because no human would EVER travel with nonhumans here." His eyes narrowed.

Nagan chuckled.
"My good man, I was making a pun...as for the second question, well, that's an extremely long story. It would take all day to explain it, really...suffice to say that there is very, very good reasoning."

"I want to hear it now." Rick was deadly serious. "Because you're the biggest group of oddballs here. And trust me, oddballs don't live long here." He reached underneath the counter. "So, tell me."

Nameless laid still adn waited until whatever or whoever it was got close enough in striking distance, or at least sounded like it and prepaired himself to "pounce".

( OOC: The plan is to do a choke grab straight away when its close enough ... not with the hand with the caws out of course ^^; )

Nagan erked.
"Well, we're travellers from another world entirely who came here because some guy threw a rock onto a teleportation platform. As far as we know, the platform was not magic in any way, but the rock was. The rock caused us to get stuck here, we don't have the damndest clue where we are, and we're trying to get the hell away. Meanwhile, things keep blowing up or people keep telling us things are illegal. It's really quite a bother, and can you not summon the guards because there's a damn well book sale back home I want to get to and jail would impeded that greatly."

Whatever it was, it remained far away. "You. Drop you weapon." Nameless could see a man standing nearby him. He was holding a gun, but it was unlike any gun Nameless had ever seen. It was long and black, and featured a smiling human behind it. "Now, why are you here?"

"Aye," Pervy says, leaping to Nagan's support. "Ye see, we are travellers. And we had a bit o' technology go wrong on us. Now we're stuck here."

Another.... world. Dear Ishtar, what's happened to us. Alash thought at the man's first exclamation. Apparently things were far worse than he'd even imagined they could be. But... another world? Alash brushed that thought aside with a shake of his head No no, 's gotta be wrong, it's just gotta be.

In any case, it'd be a moot point if this man did something rash. Which, to Alash's reckoning, he was about to do. With a slight frown, he slipped his right hand into his pocket. If anything happened, it'd at least be an inch or two closer to his halberd, just in case. Well, lets see which way the wind's blowin today...

"Hn." Rick took this all in, then reached for another object. It was cream colored, and had circular knobs on either end of it. He brought it up to the side of his head, which seemed odd. He then spoke into it, which was even odder. "Sir, we've got a couple of otherworlders." He stood for a second. "Yessir. I'll make sure they stay here." He slammed the object down. "You might want to stay here. I don't mean any harm to you."

Nameless slowly and carefully got up making sure not to lower his eyes to the man at all as he was doing so. As he stood in front of his he quickly looked left and right as much as his hood allowed to see if this man was with anyone else.

The man was alone, as far as Nameless could see. There was nothing for them to hide behind, so it was probably just him anyways.

"Come on, speak. Who are you?" The man demanded.

Nameless would love to trust the man but experience has taught him that peoples first reaction to his face are not always favourable. Espically when one has a weapon.

Lifting his claw up he pointed and let the magic flow through his body and aim a dark magic bolt at the mans weapon.

(OOC: Dark missile aimed at the gun, and if allowed to move in close and knock it away from him as well. )

Damnation, what possessed the idiot to try the truth? Nagan obviously didn't have the faintest idea about subterfuge. Then again, given the circumstances, the road to disaster was pretty clearly marked.

"How nice for you," Kelne said, directing a glare at the storekeeper. "You will forgive me if I doubt that very much. Or do you truly believe that authorities who outlaw maps of all things will be kindly disposed towards otherworlders?"

"Regular basis? You're the first otherworlders to appear here. EVER." Rick eyed them. "Though I have to ask you something. Are you the mages that has the King so worried that he'll missle his own people? Because if you are, we have a proposal for you."

Nagan blinked.
"Then you're telling me this place has specific rules and customs for absolutely everything that could ever happen EVER?"

He looked pensive...then smiled.

"Guys, this place is just like Neo Vane. Think about it. Now, let's hear your proposal, and we'll tell you whether we're mages or not."

Pervy was quiet, mulling over what they had learned.

King, eh? Muses the pirate. Paranoid sort, obviously.

"If'n ye dun mind me askin'," Pervy says, "Could ye tell us why th' king's outlawed magic-users? I mean, ye know we ain't from 'round here, so ye might as well fill us in; not like it'll hurt nothin'."

Zukath, meanwhile, had become angry. Especially at Nagan. What the hell was he doing?

His eyes narrowed as he angrily spoke to Nagan. "....thank you, sir, for RUINING EVERYTHING."

He snarled ferociously at Nagan, as well.

Rick sighed. "You see, it's complicated. You don't know the history of this world, so how could you understand it? I believe that our base has a working encyclopedia-they've been banned, you see." Rick outlined his proposal. "As the only magic users on the entire planet, you're the most powerful beings here. If you help my group out, and help us overthrow the King, we'll send you back."

He edged back slowly.

Zukath was normally hard to calm down. However, hearing about overthrowing the king seemed to draw his attention. Now he had someone to focus his anger on.

"If he's the way I think he is... the king NEEDS to be overthrown. And assuming this is the only way we can get back..."

He reached his hand out toward Rick. "....world-saving or not, I'm up for something like this."

Pervy knew this trick. Hell, he had used it before. He wasn't about to confess.

Rick nodded. "My allies shall arrive soon. They had to hide their identities, so they wouldn't be stopped."

With that, several humans walked inside the store, followed by a nekojin, and an inujin. They looked at the group, and a woman spoke. "Are these the ones?"

Rick nodded. "Yes, ma'am."

She nodded. "Welcome. I am known as Phoenix, and I am the commander of this group. Who are you, and what world do you hail from?"

Zukath felt cornered... as if he had no choice. But rather than cast off every 'disguise' he had been giving, he decided to only cast off one doubt and see what happened.

Turning to the female that had apparently addressed the group, he said, "Hello, ma'am. The name's Zukath... Zukath Bladejaw." He extended his left hand to Phoenix.

"No, regarding both. I'm a lizardman, not a dragon. Though he suggested I looked a bit like a dragon...." Zukath directed his head toward Rick for a moment.

"We ain't mages," Pervy insists. He had to deal wit secret police before, and he knew that if they feared mages enough to destroy a whole town of them, they wouldn't hesitate to pull a fast one on them.

"But if ye wanna get me trust, go fish me out a map."

If they're outlawed, these folks'll likely keep one. And if they'll not, chances are they won't
