The mage glanced at them. "Well..."

He was interrupted. A youngish looking man walked up to him. This man looked slightly funny, as he had short black hair, and his clothes looked out of place. His voice was somewhat harsh.

"Will you sell it to Doma?" The man demanded.

"Well, probably." The mage said.

"You! You love dragons! You fool!" He started yelling. "How can anyone wish to help the damn dragons!"

"Cuz dragons ain't half a stupid as ye, ye damned halfwit fuck!" Pervy shouts back, as he picks Up Ushyu and lets her sit on his shoulder. His relief at seeing his adopted daughter unharmed, and quite amused, melted away before annoyance.

"Dragons have saved yer halfwit arse from demons more times than ye ain't thought 'bout th' bilge flyin' from yer damned fool mouth! Why dunn ye hie yer skinny arse back t' Riva, where ye half-blind idjits belong! An' be sure t' pull yer thumb out o' yer arse so ye dun walk funny!"

Zukath seemed annoyed by the fact that the man who had approached was dissing dragons. How could anyone feel so angrily about them?

However, Zukath waited to see what would happen. He wanted to see if he needed to react quickly. And if he did, he could always grab on to the man and prevent him from going anywhere.

"And what would a well-adjusted member of society such as yourself suggest that he do with it?" Kelne asked, voice dripping sarcasm.

Not that he'd been having much luck with sarcasm lately. Some people just weren't equipped to understand it.

Nagan was shocked. That shock turned to disgust. That disgust turned to apprehension. That apprehension quickly turned to anger.
"...YOU!"
He screamed at the boy, clenching his teeth in between words. His hands shook with rage.
"HOW....DARE...YOU?! TAKE THAT BACK! NOW!"

And once again I see how easily these humans turn to anger, perhaps its not a curse of my body afterall but just a curse of life to be angry at everything else.

The action before Nameless was just another display on the thing he feared about people. As soon as someone disagreed with whatever view they have on life they would anger and attack. He knew that if such people saw him he would be attacked once again, Nameless being a disagreeable form of life.

Nameless wondered how many of these devices were actually made. He doubted this person would just make one and show it to all these people as soon as he thought it worked. Nameless wondered how many tests had to happen and who or what they were tested on.

He waited, watching. Getting involved in this would be pointless.

The man snorted. "I see. I shouldn't have come this close to Doma." He reached into his jacket, withdrawing a sharp rock. "However, I can still do what I wanted to do!" With that, he threw the rock at the closest platform, and it smacked into it with a dull thud. He smiled, then darted off.

The mage laughed. "Idiot. Rock throwing, come on..."

Zukath was angry now. He was tempted to follow the crazy man who had been cursing and dissing dragons, but he knew he couldn't catch up to him.

His anger at the situation very clear, Zukath looked back at the platforms, and folded his arms over his chest, now thinking. He was wondering now why the coward had thrown a rock at it. As far as he knew, if someone wanted to ruin the thing they'd have to try harder - it WAS made of metal, after all.

"Pathetic... Cowardly..." Zukath was apparently now rambling off words to describe the man who was cursing at the mage moments ago.

That was one of the most pointless and senseless things Nameless had ever experienced, however his thoughts returned to the device. Everyone had seemed to shrug off the rock throwing, but even the slighest loose bolt could cause a device to fail.

The inventor did not seem to mind though and this reassured Nameless. Surely the creator, of all people, would know what would effect his machine.

The mage glanced over at Nameless and Alash. They both could notice that there weren't too many people around anymore, as they had all gone on their separate ways now the fun was over with. "What are you two doing there?"

Nameless did a silent nod towards the device. He wanted to see it work again personally but he couldn't say this of course. He then just stood there and watched.

Nameless thought for a second, then walked forward, careful not to allow anything of his skin to show. The best way to test if this worked for him would be by using it himself.

The mage nodded. "Just step up on there." He bent over, and picked up the rock. It had a name carved in it, which he said out loud. "Relti. This seems to be that bastard's name. Oh well."

"Damned half-wit bilgewater bastards..." Pervy grumbles as he walks toward the mage. "Too damned cowardly t' admit their halfwits an' try t' fix it."

Getting closer, Ushyu still on his shoulder, he looks at the mage, then says, "Ye oughta give that thing a good once-o'er a'fore ye use it again. That damned turnshae didnae come all this way jus' t' lob a damned rock wit'out meaning it t' do somethin'"

Nameless carefully stood upon the device, avoiding staring at the man with the small creature that was giving off the aura of holy magic. He did not want to loose control here. He waited silently.

Zukath turned his attention to Pervy now. Realizing he wasn't alone in his thinking, he said, "I'm thinking that he was trying to ruin the device. But by lobbing a rock at it? Geez, where do these people get THEIR brains?? This device ain't THAT delicate..."

Alash eyed the rock-thrower with this disdain. Great. Just what my day needs. Racist bastards. What hole did THESE people crawl out of anyways? It was definitely best to not draw attention at this point. Lest the person in his hate-filled fury turn his way.

Nope, not a pleasant thought at all

"Aye matey," Pervy says. "Ye see, if he's just thinkin' a rock could do it, that means three things.

"First off, it could mean 'e's just an idjit.

"Second off, could mean 'e knows somethin' bout this 'ere device we don't.

"Third off, means that might not be yer normal rock hereabouts."

"Aye," the Captain says, "Damn Rivan Dragon-haters ain't got no shortage o' stupid. But I ain't quite 'bout write this off. A sunsight's made o' metal, but all ye need do is drop it wrong t' mess it up."

At the same time, the cloaked man was giving him an odd feeling...

And if you didn't think "Chrono Trigger" before...

Postby Squintz Altec » Sun Mar 16, 2003 6:09 pm

The mage laughed. "Don't worry, it's fine."

His musings were interrupted by Nameless on the platform. It happened to be the one that Relti had thrown the rock at. Perhaps it would have been different if he had gotten on the other one. Perhaps it would have been the same result no matter which platform was used. However, it became obvious. Either Relti knew the exact spot to hit, or he wasn't using a rock. This line of thought was interrupted by the explosion that enveloped all six of the "group," as well as the mage who created the device.

Nagan was the first to awake. He saw that the others were lying in random prone positions on the ground, all unconcious. He could see that the area they were in was a village, one that didn't look too much unlike the one that had blown up, suposedly. The others started to grumble and come to, but all of them weren't too aware of the nekojin male that had walked up to them.

"Who are you?" He demanded.

"Th' hell?" Pervy grumbles, as he stirs.

Looking around, he sees that Ushyu has gone into crystal form, having been knocked unconscious. She should be fine, he reasons, or at least not bad off enough to worry immediately. She's been knocked out before, and pulled through alright.

He flicks an ear in annoyance, as he looks at the nekojin, and asks, "Th' hell happpened?"

Nameless's first reaction at being taken by surprise was to start up and get into a defensive postion. He glared around until he saw the nekojin male and was taken by surprise at its form.

He slowly stood up and looked around, paying little attention to the man at first. What had just happened? Where did he teleport to? Why was everyone else on the ground?

So many questions ran through his mind as he tried to remember the last thing he saw before this moment.

Zukath's consciousness returned rather slowly. But it did eventually come, as Zukath found himself laying on his right side, mouth hanging partway open and tongue relaxed.

He sat up a bit, holding himself up with his right arm, and closed his eyes for a few moments. Opening them again, he realized he wasn't dreaming. Something had happened. The question was... what WAS it that happened??

Hell, how can a rock make a metal device do that.... That was Zukath's first thought. The second one was the one that came out of his mouth, not intentionally directed at anyone.

"....wh.... where... where am... I...?"

Nagan sighed.

"By the Dragons! That bloody moron messed it up! Why couldn't the inventor just have bungled it! That's HONEST mistakes. That's what's supposed to happen! Now, where in the bloody 'ell are we. Looks similar, but...yeah."
He got up, dusting himself off a little.
"See, this is why you use Wind Magic, ladies and gentlemen."

*BITES LUCCA AND TABAN*

Postby Nakibe » Sun Mar 16, 2003 7:48 pm

"WHAT THE FUCK?" Alash exclaimed.... or WOULD have exclaimed if it wasn't for the disappearance of his leaning spot, making the statement more like "WHAT THE... OOF" as skull met dirt. Thus Alash was left staring at the sky and groaning, both in pain, and at this new development.

Nagan smirked. Time for a good show-off, in that case.
He grabbed a comb from his robes, quickly setting his hair back into place, before spinning, adopting a traditional Neo Vanic Wind Mage pose, having set himself perfectly for the wind to accentuate his features.
"I..am Nagan. Ex-Third Class Wind Mage of Neo Vane. Great to meet you. Now, could you tell us where we are, because we simply must be getting back to more important things."

It took a while for Zukath to be able to think straight. But just as he did, the nekojin's words sank in.

That's when Zukath sat up. Noticing the nekojin back away, Zukath said, "...you're... not scared of us, are you?"

I hope not.... Not everyday most people see a lizardman....

With the word "mage," all hell broke loose. All of the tiny baby nekojin were herded up by their respective parents, and they literally RAN to their homes, shutting, and subsequentially locking, the doors.

"Mage?!" The male nekojin jumped back. "HOW? WHY?" He looked panicked. "BACK, YOU BEAST!"

"What th' hell?" Pervy asks, having listened to all this and was very thoroughly confused. Pocketing the crystalline form of Ushyu, he stands, and says, "Name's Captain Aliester Purvis, matey. Now, what's all this 'bout mages?"

He decided not to mention his own leanings.

Nagan nodded.
"Right, right, Nation Two. Okay, folks, we're not in Gaera. We've established this. Now what we need to do is find out how to get back. Which we probably can't do here. So, everyone ready themselves, I think we'll be going now. Forward...MARCH!

Okay, as long as nobody is stupid enough to question my leadership, at LEAST until we get out of the town, we shouldn't have a problem...Surely they'll understand that if mages are feared, they're probably the leaders of armies or something. Thus, I should appear to be the leader.

I guess they are... maybe I need to set something right here...

Zukath slowly stood up, brushing himself off a bit. No way he was going to let this happen.

But Nagan had beaten him to what he was going to say. So, he walked over to Alash, kneeling down next to him.

"Think you're going to be okay?" Zukath asked him. "'Cause we need to get moving... and quick."

Slowly staggering to his feet, Alash saw the cat-person talking to the robed person. Hopefully that person will know how to get home... I really really hope. The walk didn't help Alash's headache at all, but at least that'd be gone... sometime today. Alash put on a (slightly) less confused face and said to the nekojin person... "Excuse me... but could you tell me WHERE IN HELL I am?"
