The stranger from before could be felt wandering about in one of the marketplace of the fort. But he was beginning to fade from Culat's senses. It would take the three about thirty minutes to make it back to the city at their top speeds.

((OOC: Baron and Valth are about as far removed as you can get, Geoc. And this was planned, so just RP along, and all will become clear...))

"Well I assume your casting a spell. Please inform me on what it does?" Defron said as he deeply bowed to Culat.

RAHR, LAZY POSTINGNESS BITES ME.

Unread postby Endesu » Fri Oct 18, 2002 1:56 am

(Sorry!)

"Quest?! You gotta be @!#$ing kidding me, lady.. I only saw a truck on some alternate planet.. home of Will, I think.. and then a truck came! And bam! Boom! Past me! And I was, ahhh!! .. and then I heard trucks were here, so I came here.. and.. uh.. well.. I still don't know what the @!#$ a truck is supposed to be."

"In essence, it's a tracking spell; the stranger we met earlier is in the marketplaces of the city. As there is no more here, shall we pursue him?"

Culat turned to his right, expecting to see Vorit, who wasn't there. The baby dragon was hovering around the corpses of the dead men.

"Yes... it would be a good idea to inspect them... to see what happened..."

Culat began to do so.

Valth

Sethrik's mother looked amused. "Well, a truck is a vehicle. It has wheels, which are turned by an engine like the propeller on an airship, and it rolls over the ground. Really, that's all the more I know about it myself. Except for the fact that they are used for carrying around most of the goods my husband is in charge of."

Baron

An inspection of the dead bodies revealed nothing. While the mysterious snakes had clearly been crushed to death (except for the one that Defron had decapitated) the men appeared to be unhurt. They were simply dead, as if they had suddenly lost the will to live, and collapsed right there on the ground.

"Well if we run we might be able to get to that man before dinner." Defron said.

Defron readied himself for the run.

Familiars are very helpful...

"Indeed." Culat sighed. Scholar, adventurer, blue mage he was, but he was no runner. Should it come to the quickest flight possible, Vorit would outdistance them all, and being of middle age, he couldn't hope to keep up with the younger Defron. "If need be... but where is the need?"

Once more, he spoke with Vorit. The minidragon sped ahead toward the city.

"I hope he doesn't get into trouble..." Culat said softly.

"What is Vorit doing? And I thought we could run to get there faster than if we walked." Defron said looking at Culat.

"Vorit's going to find this stranger for us and follow him around. In flight, he's much faster than either of us. And I suppose I could run... I'm not as young as I used to be," Culat chucked to himself, "but I suppose that's true of anybody..."

Now Sethrik's mother was truely confused. How did one explain? "Well, a vehicle is like a riding animal, such as a chocobo. Only it's a machine. You use it to get around."

Srisha, Sethrik's mother, laughed. "No, you can't eat a truck. It's made of solid metal. And it won't get sick. It runs off of some sort of bad smelling liquid that my husband keeps in stock. If it's well supplied, then it should be able to work for a fair amount of time. I'm afraid I have no idea what to do with it if it stops working otherwise. I've never had to use it myself."

Culat smiled. "To be honest," he said, "I haven't a clue. He can't be more than two to five years old, by his size. And yet, he seems wise and knowledgable beyond even me." Culat sighed. "But for a being of his type, that's not surprising."

"Well if he's that young that would explain why he'd be a little reluctant in a fight. I'll aplogize when he gets back." Defron said as he looked in the direction Vorit had flew off in.

Vorit followed the stranger, Mobiar was the name he had given, to the local inn. There was a short discussion between the two, as Mobiar asked for total privacy in his room. Money exchanged hands, and Mobiar disappeared into his room.

Srisha looked to End. "Anyway, as I said, the truck is in the back if you want to look at it." She turned back to Rena. "Now... Also charmed. My name is Srisha. You are interested in the stranger at our house? As I said, I can take him a message, but if he doesn't want to see you... well, there's nothing I can do. Do you want me to take him a message?"

((OOC: Koneko, you can head to Gungnir now, try and catch up with your stranger. He's at an inn, which you can call whatever you want. Vorit, seeing what was to be seen, flew quickly back to Culat. After arriving, the two held a brief private conference.

Culat turned to Defron. "Shall we go then? Our stranger is at an inn, so there is little need for hurry." So saying, he strode back toward the city.

Defron followed glad that there was no hurry.

"Ah. Good day, gentlemen. May I help you?"

Rena shruged, and looked to Srisha. "Well I guess I don't really have a message to ask him or anything. I was just curious about him and wanted to find out what he was like, why he was here and such....." She looked at the boys and the mother again. "So I guess I don't really have a message."

The man at the desk frowned. "Well, we've had two people in this morning. Unusual, people usually check in at night. One is in his room. He's asked not to be disturbed. The other is over there in the bar." The innkeeper pointed over at a short, round man who was enjoying a beer. As they watched, a boy in a leather apron ran up.
"You donkey is in the stables, sir!" The boy announced.
"Ah, good." The man replied, "I'll go check on him."

Srisha pointed along the side of the house, towards the back. "Right along there. It's big, grey, and got wheels on it. You can't miss it."
She couldn't help wondering why the moogle had come so far to see something he knew nothing about.
"Ooh," Sethrik butted in, "He wants to see the growling machine? I can show him where it is!"
Srisha looked from her son to the Dragoon moogle, then back to her son. "If that's alright with him, dear, then go ahead."

The inn keeper took the money quickly. The stranger had only payed a fifth of that on his arrival, and the man's greed overrode any ethics he might have had. "I don't want any fightin going on in here, though, understand? Mess up my place, and I'll bring the law down on your heads."
