(OOC: Thanks...)

Culat thought of an appropriate saying.

"Those who are inquisitive often end up dead in body, but those who are not are dead in mind." he mused, and then said somewhat suspiciously, "And those who cannot give a name, should recieve one rather different from his own."

Culat was quite ready for a fight, if need be. As was Vorit, who had taken an instant dislike to the newcomer, as he often did to dangerous individuals.

"Do you plan to die over your name? You keep avoiding it. I want to know who you are, and how you got there before us." Defron said, it was obvious that he was mad. The scary thing is that he his still restricting the amount of emotion that is in his voice.

"I am a traveler," the stranger replied. "And as I walked down my road, I happened to see a star fall from the sky. It was night, true, but my buisness is urgent, and I could not wait. I investigated, for the star landed not far from my path, and found several dead men. Now I am accosted by two strangers demanding my name. How do I not know you didn't kill those men? If you did not, let me ask you, are you truely willing to kill over a name?"
He let the question hang in the air for a moment, then continued, "But I will not plauge you with the question applied. Since you demand it so strongly, I shall tell you my name is Mobiar. What is it to you?"

"Now it is just a passerby that heeds warnings to those he comes upon. Thank you and sorry for taking up your time, but you should know that having a star fall out of the sky does shake up ones nerves. Good bye, I'm off to investigate the bodies." Defron said, completely changing the tone of his voice to a rather happy one.

With that said he motioned for Culat to walk with him.

"That stranger is a good fighter, he runs for his life, I should be wary of my own."

As Defron turned to continue on his way, the stranger did the same. Culat stood indesicive on the road for a moment. The first streaks of dawn appeared in the sky. The night was over, and in the increasing light, an observant person might have noted the half foot print on the road, apparently left by the stranger. It was not of a booted foot, nor did it appear to be a bare one. It was all together strange...

Suspicions abounded indeed. But footprints were no real reason to risk confrontation; indeed, truth be known, had the stranger drawn a weapon Culat would've readily backed off. He was no stranger to danger and battle, but battle without reason was a defiance of reason and wisdom, virtues he built his life on.

Culat followed Defron, but he quickly muttered something under his breath. A sixth sense of sorts picked up as a result of the spell; allowing him to sense the stranger's location instead of see it.

He mentally blessed the mind flayer he had learned it from. In hot combat nonetheless.

Culat's spell indicated that the stranger was persuing his own course down the road, and would probably arrive at the Fort within the hour.
The two continued down the road and arrived at the landing site about fifteen minutes later, finding the area just as the stranger had indicated. There were about fifteen dead guards from the fort strewn around a large crater in the ground. The crater was still warm from the force of impact.
What was there which the stranger had not mentioned were three black snakes. Fins projected from the base of the skull and ran a fourth of the way down the body. Two of these snakes were dead. The third was definitely not. It was also not happy to see the two humans.

After walking for about five minutes, the small party of four arrived at Sethrik's house. His mother was out working in the garden, and met them as they arrived on the front walk. She was a fairly tall, tabby Nekojin

"I knew he left something out." Defron said.

Defron drew out his katana. He pointed the tip at the void sanke. He ran at the snake, then jumped over the snake. While in the air he swung the sword at the snake. Defron landed a short distance from the snake.

IM: Great. Just what we needed.

Culat drew out the dust spear, twirling it deftly like a baton. He charged at the snake, holding it like a javelin, ready to throw at close range. Getting within several feet of the void snake however, he chanted briefly and he swung the spear in a wide arc, slashing at the creature. The dust spear re-formed itself and became a sharp sword.

~ The spear/sword attack was partially successful, in that it managed to lop a small part of the snake's tail off.

~But the snake was still up and moving, a quickly lashed itself over to Defron and bit him viciously.

(Yaay! I love little Vorit... such a cute little dragon...)

Vorit was up and on the defensive. Flitting around incessantly, thoughts were racing a mile a minute through this little one's head.

Though limited, his abilities were still dangerous. He figured he had best go with the simplest option: firebreath.

From Vorit's mouth spewed a small yet fiercely hot jet of flames.

Vorit's blast of flame caught the snake dead center, charing it's skin. The snake recoiled and emitted a sound that was a mix between a hiss, and tearing metal.

Culat raised his free hand, the other occupied by the dust sword. As he chanted, the sword diffused in a cloud of dust that began to trickle to the ground. Bringing his hands low, the dust picked itself up again, then drove furiously against the void snake along with almost tangibly sharp wind currents.

Sethrik looked up at his mother.
"Hey mom!"
"Hello, Sethrik. Who are your friends."
Sethrik pointed at the moogle first. "This is some guy we found with his head burried in the ground. He's looking for trucks. And this girl is looking for the star person."
Sethrik's mother seemed shocked for a moment. "Oh... well," she looked at End, "I'm certain that we can help you there. My husband has a truck he uses for company buisness. It's parked in the back right now, since he took a chocobo into the mountains to meet an incoming shipment. Most of the trucks here abouts can't handle the rough terrain."
The female Nekojin looked over at Rena. "I'm not sure how much we can help you with your problem. It's true that a person walked into our house last night, making wild claims. But he was delerious. And right now, he is under our hospitality. You may not see him unless he wants to see you."
"But mom," Sethrik began, "he doesn't lo-" the young Nekojin was cut off as his mother clamped a paw over his overactive mouth.
"Hush dear."

Defron took a second swing as he jumped back.

"Vorit you idiot, I had it held down, you had the perfect opening. Shooting a fish in a barrel wasn't easier than that!" Defron yelled, "You could've gotten me killed. Mess up like that again and you won't have a snake to worry about."

At that particular moment, however, Vorit didn't even have a snake to worry about. Defron's final slash finished what his first had started, lopping the snakes head off. The body collapsed to the ground, it's head still dangling, attatched by the tough tissue of the fin still in place on the other side of the kneck. The snake lay there and stared up blankly at the stars from which it had come.

As Vorit flew up, and got a good look around, it became clear that all was quiet. The forest had no sounds of unusual preditors, and the rising sun showed nothing in the sky. All was clear.
Several miles away, the stranger was just coming to the walls of Fort Gungnir as the gates opened for the day.

((OOC: Sorry 'bout that Koneko. Just wanted to end the battle. It really wasn't supposed to last more than two turns. Anyway, if your characters look around anymore, they won't find anything but peaceful forest. The three snakes and the dead squad are all the unusual things.
