"The bard in question is guilty of killing an Erijunic warpriest." pronounced the captain.
There were angry mutters in the crowd, though it was impossible to tell at whom.

OOC: Enrik's kill was a random die roll! I'm serious! He DID get a critical.

(OOC: Don't worry, that was then. This is a different concern. And, Deeum... Richard was further in than that. He was INSIDE to begin with, and wasn't in front of the door.)

Richard was surprised. Someone else had asked the exact same question. But that wasn't his big concern. His concern was the captain's response.

"And what right does that give you to just break down the doors to taverns looking for him? At least have the decency and respect to KNOCK on a door rather than break it." Richard turned toward the others he could see, then back to the captain. "Oh, and is there anything else he has done wrong?"

Griff likes swords...can you blame him!?

Postby Shinigori V2 » Sat May 18, 2002 11:52 pm

Griff was mesmerized by his new find. It was a long, narrow bladed sword, with a sharp curve at the end. Upon closer inspection, he saw it was two blades, with a narrow gap in the middle. It had small bars connecting them so that they wouldent easily break. On the handle there were spikes for bludgeoning. He checked his pockets, and saw he had absolutly no money with which to purchase the blade.

"Aw, crap...I really liked that one, too..."

Griff then moped away to look at other merchants wares...

Sarah still slightly ticked off from before inched closer to the soldiers. "So what if he killed a priest. It was only in self defense..", She mutter quietly. "even though I've never known a bard to actually kill.. before.."
She sighed and shook her head. "Whatever man, but touch the bard and you'll pull back a nub.."

(OOC: Uh, Shin? I believe I already said something about char control. In fact, I KNOW I did. It was: 'Do not use char control' or some such thing. Draw thine own conclusions.)

The captain turned to Sarah.
"We're only under orders to bring you and your group of mercenaries to Lady Fanshen." he said wearily. "Some kind of negotiation. You can leave the bard here until you're done. I doubt he'll get far."

Richard hated being ignored, as well. One half of him was urging him to take these men out, and it made note of Sarah's statement about self-defense. Which, it told the other side, is perfectly justified. To appease this side, Richard decided silently to try and get rid of them. He came closer to the captain.

" NO. You are NOT bringing ANYONE ANYWHERE. First, you break down the door, then you try to arrest someone who's only defending himself... You don't deserve to be here."

Richard backed off slightly, then brought his hands to about eye-level before moving them slightly up and down.

"And I'm going to be the one that removes you."

(OOC: Casting Darkness on the captain and as many of the guards as I can target.)

Sarah wedges herself between the Bard and the guards. the blonde knight huffed "please move it along, or at LEAST outside?" "God you humans .. I swear" She mumbled attempting to push the offending guards out of the bar.
"Party is over. You dont have to go home, but you can't stay here."
Pushing BIG men like that..was probably not a good idea, but since everyone was just looking to each other and making little threats.. nothing was getting done.

Postby RPGWWer ChronoCatfish » Sun May 26, 2002 8:23 pm

OOC: Fine, I'm back.

Griff immediately saw what he was (Probably, I wouldn't know) looking for. A stall selling blades of all descriptions, none of which appeared as good as the expensive one earlier, but all of which appeared to be of extremely good quality. And what was more, there appeared to be a plentiful supply, as more people were going to the mageware shop directly to the right of it.

----------------------

Most of the guards were affected by the darkness spell.
"I can't see, captain!" shouted one of them.
"Well, don't-" the captain (the only one unaffected) started to say, when Deeum tried to push the guards out. While this would probably have been an easy task had the captain not been in the way, it was, apparently, not to be that simple. A weary expression appeared on the captain's face as he slashed with his longsword at Deeum.

(37 damage to Deeum. You WERE getting tired with the prebattle banter, remember.)

Enrik, having been advancing slowly, gave a battle cry and lunged at the guard captain.

(Captain takes 18 damage)

(Initiative Order: Captain, Obnoxious Guard, Kilra, Enrik, Guard C, Guard D, Blackwing, Kraken, Guard E, Deeum)

The captain concentrated, and the medallion he had been wearing began to glow. His shield appeared to burst into flames.... But the flames were shaped, they were in place of the shield.

The guard who had kicked down the doors, however, had a less complex strategy, and used it, slashing st Enrik.

(Enrik takes 27 damage. Kilra's turn.)

Kilra smirked as she saw the captains attention turn towards the bard, leaving him open for her attack.

"Streea xor ib'ahalii!"

She charged from her cover, slashing at the captains back with both her swords, hoping to catch him off guard.

Ouch!

Postby RPGWWer ChronoCatfish » Mon May 27, 2002 8:06 pm

The captain, obviously not expecting such an attack, was hit, though his chainmail deflected some of the damage However, to his credit, he managed to duck under the second slash just in time.

(Captain takes 17 damage)

Of course, then Kilra realised her mistake. It's all very well just jumping at the leader from behind, but- what's ALSO behind the leader? The other guards.
At that moment Enrik thrust his rapier at the ill-fated captain- but the blow glanced off of his armor.
The first guard slashed at Kilra, yet her quick reflexes allowed her to sidestep- into the slash of the second guard.

(Kilra takes 8 damage. Richard/Blackwing's turn.)

Gotta teach him a lesson.

Postby Divinegon2130 » Mon May 27, 2002 8:15 pm

(OOC: I must have gotten a bad roll for how long blinding was to occur. Either that or combat started after the duration ended. Oh well, 'tis too late to worry about it now.)

Richard was more concerned with the captain than the other guards. The captain was the source of his trouble - the one who had made the claims about the 'bard' in the first place.

The two sides of Richard agreed to worry about him first... but they disagreed on the methods. One half wanted to tear right into him, while the other half wanted to use its magic first. In the end, these two sides agreed to using both.

Richard drew his short sword, a puny-looking thing compared to the weapons the guards had. Oh well, Richard told himself, as he did a small chant before swinging his blade at the guard, the blade glowing an extremely dark purplish color.

(OOC: Shadow Slice, at the captain. If a specific attack type with the sword is necessary, it will be a slash(/swing/whatever you call it). And apologies with the 'two sides' thing that's been going on for so long, if it's annoying.)

Kilra recoiled from the hefty blow, cursing her decision. She'd forgotten that by attacking the captain she'd leave herself open.

(OOC: Can Kilra retreat through a gap in the guards, or is she boxed in?)

End of the round.

Postby RPGWWer ChronoCatfish » Wed May 29, 2002 7:47 pm

OOC:

Deeum punched the guard captain. Part of the captain, anyway. The flaming shield, at least.

(Deeum takes 17 damage. Is now at 11 HP, right hand is burnt.)

The captain, seeing that Deeum was going to come quietly, identified the next threat. The guards were obvsiously dealing with that rogue back-stabber. That left the bard to pacify. He slashed at Enrik.

(Enrik takes 25 damage and is now at 8 HP. He receives a -4 to checks for being heavily injured)

Enrik collapsed to the ground, bleeding. The obnoxious guard, meanwhile, attacked Blackwing with a stab.

(Blackwing takes 7 damage. Kilra's turn.)

Hopefully she can do this all in one round.

Postby Jak Snide » Thu May 30, 2002 4:56 am

Kilra realised that she'd be soon dead if she stayed in the midst of the guards, and she soon spotted a way to back out.

However, she also noticed the sorry state of the bard and the blond haired female. She knew they wouldn't last long at the hands of the captain in their current conditions.

Making a split second decision, she ducked low, then leapt into the air, trying to get over the captain and in between him and the other two, hoping to spin around and assume a more balanced form of defence.

(Jump, Balanced Tactics and a slash on the captain. Jump will hopefully get her in between Deeum, Enrik and the Captain, Balanced Tactics means she only gets one attack that turn, but may use her PA and AC to defend twice, rather than once. The slash is basic enough, but I don't have any dice here. Her AT for a slash with her on hand is 10 though.

If she can't do all of the above, just say so, and I'll change the post. If she can do all that, she's on 17/20 TP.)

Ooh, plot development.

Postby RPGWWer ChronoCatfish » Mon Jun 03, 2002 9:08 pm

OOC: Sorry, the penalty to checks for Kilra seems a bit excessive now. I'm decreasing it to -1. And yes, you can do all that.

The captain, however taken aback he was, used the shield. Kilra felt the heat pass from the shield to her.

(Captain takes 8 damage. Kilra takes 9 damage.)

Enrik, despite lying sprawled on the ground with a gash in him, managed to lift a hand. He spoke some words remarkably similar to those the priestess had used.
Suddenly, a tower of fire erupted from the ground, right in the middle of the guards. Some of them dove for cover. One of them was engulfed in flames, and collapsed to the ground, heavily burned. Only the captain stood his ground, though surprise was evident on his features. The medallion appeared to glow as the spell hit, absorbing the flame.
Enrik also stared at the results in surprise. Then his expression shifted to one of satisfaction as he lost consciousness.

(Guards take 31 damage each, Guard E is unconscious)

(Kilra and Blackwing take 10 heat damage)

The guards stared in fear, looking to the captain for reassurance. The one who had kicked in the door, however, ran. The captain looked back and nodded, once. The guards moved into a defensive formation around the captain.

(Blackwing’s turn.)

OOC: NOW it's a -3 penalty.

Richard, feeling excessive heat wash over him, assessed his options. He could either go after the guard captain, or he could heal the man that had just fallen. He mentally consulted with his other half... which told him to heal the one that had fallen. But he had to do something first.

"Make sure he does not stand when this is over!" Richard ordered the others who were apparently helping him, attempting to point at the captain as he did so. "If you can pull something like what was just done, and you need to, do so!"

Richard then turned his attention to the unconscious man. He directed his hands over him, as he started to chant some more...

(OOC: Cure2, directed at Enrik. Blackwing's status is currently 48/65 HP, 6/55 MP (when you figure this latest spell in), and 16/20 TP, if I recall right.)

"Must...have money....swords...calling for me to save them from this hell...ALL YOUR SWORDS ARE BELONG TO ME!!!!"

Griff suddenly stopped yelling and looked at nothing imparticular with a stupid look on his face. Then, for no apparent reason, he dropped to the ground.

"Lets see...I have the 40 Gold from Ilken...Lets see what I can get..."

Griff started looking at the swords, hoping for a new addition to his arsonal...

Kraken weighed up the situation inside the pub, he was failing his job...miserablely, but he doubted there was anything he could do if he went into close combat. The captain was probably the most powerful and hopefully the other guard would lose moral if he fell. He put a poison dart into his heavy crossbow, took aim at the captains neck where there was a small bare patch of skin.

Fillerama!

Postby Jak Snide » Thu Jun 06, 2002 7:10 pm

Kilra kept silent, her blades raised defensively. She was in no position to speak for those she'd aided without a thought, and so could neither accept or decline his offer. She suspected that the guards would be less than merciful if they yielded to them though.

Divinegon2130

Re: Fillerama!

Postby Divinegon2130 » Thu Jun 06, 2002 9:11 pm

Richard, however, held nothing but scorn for the guards. Especially the captain. He distrusted the captain from the start... having his troupe knock down a door rather than just open it, then claiming that the bard was a murderer when a note was distinctly made that the bard was only defending himself.

"After all this fighting, you expect us to just come with you like that? That's utter crap... can't even talk to save your life. Don't even bother pleading. If you're worried about your life, just run off now and save yourself the trouble."

Richard remained in a position to defend himself should the guard captain decide to stay. He felt drained, and knew that magic would only make it worse. So his "secret" would have to come into play. But not yet.

(OOC: Those guards have just pissed off Richard. And Richard's getting really confident... possibly to the point of arrogance.

Edit - You still there C_C?)
