Young Thirteen takes a breath, and begins to glow again. A huge number of glowing blue squares opens around her, as she begins to shrink, something appearing to be smoke coming off of her and flowing into Enzo's PDA. A moment later, she, and the glowing windows, are gone.

"H..Hello?" Her voice quietly mumbles from his PDA. He can see her in there, in her full Wunderkind form- Though still blonde instead of white hair, and without the eyepatch and red eye.

Those watching could see the point at which Emily gave up on the conversation. She let out her breath in a long sigh, rolled her eyes and then just stood there, foot tapping, waiting. Others could talk to Viral if they liked. Heck, Viral herself could rabbit on all she liked. Emily was done beating her head against that particular brick wall.

If Viral wanted to vent while Enzo got Thirteen out, all to the good. Perhaps Emily should be engaging with her, distracting her, but she was just too obnoxiously full of herself to tolerate for long. Seriously, how had she ever gotten a hold of loyal followers? Okay, come to think of it, that was a good question. Maybe she wasn't done with the conversation.

Not dignifying Viral's question with a response, Emily fired off one of her own, "So, how come you were chosen for this uber-body, anyway? I mean, seriously, you're like the least inspirational leader type ever. What with the I'm-so-much-better-than-you and the everybody's-gonna-hate-you and the nyeah-nyeah-nyeah-nyeah-nyeah." Her eyes narrowed in a calculating fashion, "Say, you're not just a distraction while the real threat gets into position, are you?" Okay, so this wasn't so much engaging with Viral as deliberately winding her up, but Emily just couldn't help herself.

Viral thrust a hand forward, snapping her fingers. Even in the rain, somehow there's a loud, echoing finger snap, easily heard over the distance of the mall.

I've got Thirteen. Alexis, can you see what Viral is blabbering about? Is someone sneaking up on the group? I'm headed toward you guys. I'd go to the cars, but if we're about to be ambushed I'd feel safer with you guys and with Thirteen with us. I think it's been long enough that civilians should have all fled, so don't hesitate to just let loose if the situation calls for it. See you in a minute.

"I need to put the PDA back away for now, but I can connect it to me so you can still see and hear everything I'm doing and we can still talk. Are you ok with that?"

I've got Viral in my sights... and I'm taking the shot... in 30 seconds unless you have a problem with it.

Was the communication Alexis sent back across the channel, her voice surprisingly devoid of emotion, even more than the usual com-transfers.

She's a dangerous target, even if the civilians are gone, she's damaging property worth millions...

Why wait? Do it now, Emily sent back, Everybody be ready to scatter and engage other targets. If Viral had reinforcements (or even if she was preparing some kind of blasting spell), they didn't want to be clumped together. The moment Alexis took the shot, she would be in motion, swinging that oversized sword at Viral.

Viral leaped back, casually kicking at the sword as it's swung, causing it to whiff entirely. "Before you continue to make stupid decisions, I might inform you that I'm aware of the malicious coding that lingers within your medic and have already accessed it. Should something happen to me, she'll go completely berserk with her first taste of freedom within an actual Wunderkind body!"

There is no response from Alexis, but a mere moments after Viral dodges the blade, a shot is sent from her gun, accompanied by a tiny, but razor-sharp shard of compact ice sent in a direction she predicts Viral will dodge if she notices the bullet heading her way.

Without acting, Sam sends a message off to Juliet, though keeping ready to strike at a moment's notice.

Juliet? We found the wunderkind doing all this, but she's threatening to do stuff to you if we do anything to stop her! She said she hacked into you, and said something about making you go berserk...I dunno what to do yet, but...but I wanted to warn you!

"Guys..." Kid whispers, as Viral dodges the bullet, before the ice shard tinks hard off of her shoulder. "..I don't like how this is going. There's something else going on here."

He starts off back for the vehicle, breaking into a run as he sends off a message to the rest of his team - Juliet's in trouble, I need to check on her! He doesn't even bother looking to Viral as he withdraws, ignoring whatever looks or comments she might give.

Right, their actual marksman was going after Juliet, perfect.

Alexis dropped any pretense of taking it easy. She fired off several more shots before she holstered her gun, pressing her fingers together and producing two blades from the palms of her hands, gripping the extended handle as they clicked loose from the mechanism inside her.

I'm going to attack her...

Enzo plugged his PDA into himself and tucked it safely into the compartment he'd pulled it from, bringing up a display of his vision for Thirteen, along with all the physical and digital things he heard. It just didn't occur to him to filter out what the other kids were saying. They didn't hide these things from one another, after all. With that he headed for where the action was happening now.

I've got her with me. She's safe. Janet, has HQ said anything about the threat with Juliet? I'd say it was a bluff but she's starting to act weird.

Then I suspect the threat is real. They've hacked Juliet somehow and are trying to force her to let Byrd out. They can't see her right now to know she's having a problem. Unless the boss has a problem with it I'm going to go connect to her and run counter-measures before she loses control. So much for avoiding the cars til the fighting is over...

He changed direction, heading for the cars. He accessed the XLR8 system, but held off on using it long enough to give HQ a chance to respond. He was going to give them five seconds at least.

Enzo hit the XLR8 hard and, for all of 5 seconds shot towards the car that much faster. He was already engaging a remote connection to Juliet as he moved, putting all of his attention into it. His various functions to support the group abruptly either ceased or were limited to the basics that were already at least partially handled by the others already. He'd form a physical connection when he arrived to keep things secure.

Sam, once we're there you will be our only defense while I work on Juliet. I'm counting on you buddy. I don't know if it would help or hinder but I can lend you my magic chip while we're doing this.

Juliet, I need you to grant me access while you still can. Please acknowledge.

Um...yeah, okay maybe...I don't wanna fight her though, I just wanna make sure she's okay! Do you think I'll hafta fight her, Enzo? Sam presses on speed as best he can himself; though closer, he doesn't have the benefit of XLR8, so he's not sure if he'll get there first or not.

Juliet, it's gonna be okay, I promise! Don't be scared, we're gonna help you!

Actually Sam, I was thinking about Viral's much talked about, mysteriously absent back up. If we're in time Byrd might never come out. We'll see what happens there.

He retrieved his magic chip, wondering idly if it would be electricity for Sam as it was for Enzo, or if it would be something else. They never really tested it before.

Enzo and Sam:

The two boys arrive at roughly the same time, with Juliet slumped into a corner of the command vehicle. Her eyes are vacant, and she seems to be hyperventilating. "God wasn't there." She mumbles to herself. "He wasn't there."

Occasionally, they can see her twitch, as her eyes become lupine for just a moment, before returning to normal. Machines aren't supposed to do that!

He really hoped he wasn't going to have to try to break into her. It felt wrong and he didn't know how it would affect her, since she had at least one other wunderkind invading her code already.

He held her elbows and locked his limbs as he dove into her system, effectively going into sleep mode to deep dive into her body. They could debate theology when he'd kept her from destroying a city block. He thought he was prepared for pretty much anything. He was more than a bit surprised to find himself suddenly inside a huge, elaborately decorated church.

He looked about and found himself looking right at young Thirteen, gripping his hand and looking very awkward in her brand new metal wunderoos. He was visibly shocked. Oh god. That had NOT been part of the plan. She had no training, and he didn't think she knew about any of her amazing powers yet. She might be a lamb before lions in here. Oh damn.

Thirteen smiles awkwardly up at Enzo. "Where are we now...?"

And then, a ragged, howling laughter echoes through the church, as Byrd's enhanced version of Juliet's body drops from the rafters, landing heavily infront of Enzo, causing Thirteen to jump. "She's right, ya know! God's dead, he will remain dead, and we've killed him!"

Max isn't entirely sold on the idea of combat at this juncture. He kicks on his boosters and lazily dodges out of the way of the various forms of violence going on.

I'm not sure we should be fighting Viral at this point. We don't know what she's capable of, and besides that, don't we have what we came for? Shouldn't we focus on helping Juliet and getting the heck out of here?

"What's with this cryptic bullshit all of a sudden? I hate it when people do this. We were having a discussion about public opinion and suddenly it's all 'some kinda thing is going to happen because we've upset some kinda natural order' or whatever. It's completely pointless filler! You haven't actually said anything meaningful! Comics do this all the time. It's so irritating!"

Max idly looks up to see if he can see this 'something' Viral is talking about.

Max looks up and sees a giant storm cloud rolling in...Except it's no normal cloud. That cloud is a sickly green color that nearly hurts to look at. On the rooftops, above, having gone completely unnoticed...A strange Wunderkind. Her uniform is black on white, her skin is sickly pale, her hair a dirty grey. Her eyes are fields of black with white pinpoints, and twin streams of blood run down her cheeks and from her fingers, pooling at her feet.

"Repent, heathens!" She shouts. "The New Gods are upon you, and the herald approaches!"

Viral looks up at the newcomer, and back to Max. "You think I'm being cryptic, what about THAT?"

While Enzo deep dives, Sam keeps up watch at Juliet's side, hoping that this works. He holds the chip carefully in one hand, not slotting it yet - a bit nervous about it, really. But he still holds it ready to slot at a moment's notice, should anyone appear down here in the garage. Whatever happens, he isn't going to let Viral or anyone hurt them.

Juliet's eyes go lupine as she shoves Enzo out of the way, making him clank stiffly on the floor. She lunges at Sam, grabbing his shoulders and looking intensely at him. "Run. Run away! She's coming and we can't stop her! NOTHING can STOP HER!"
