It was probably a good thing for all involved that the assorted adventurers were meeting this new (if suspicious) group of travelers on the Staircase, if only because it meant that there was something to do aside from walking. Or thinking, as the case may be for Trivale. His last foray out showed him that he could understand anyone who was talking around him if he tried. What more, then, could he do if he worked hard at it?

It was certainly something to think about while the others talked to their unusual company.

Infinite Staircase

After a brief discussion, goodbyes are exchanged, with the Sigilian travelers already planning a stop at the Guild in the future. And so the Planewalkers press on, a strange revelation of their youngest member now shown to all. If she's not Shawn after all, just who is she?

It's two more days' travel before they reach the landing leading to their destination. A short staircase of greyish-white stone leads up to a landing of similar make barely ten feet to a side. Right across from the stairs stands the doorway, an arch of burnished bronze wrapping around a stone door covered in a variety of intricate, baroque carvings. Nothing about the door gives any sign of what lies beyond, though thankfully, they do not seem to be in one of the Staircase's Dark Zones, those areas of oppressive environment that most often indicate danger beyond.

The first to push the door open spies a stone building on the far side: a large loft and studio, it appears, with walls coated in plaster that seem to show much recent damage. Damage not from within, but rather to the building itself. Though empty of life, the room's walls are covered with numerous tapestries and sculptures showcasing various scenes of triumph. Yellow-skinned, vaguely reptile-like humanoids wielding gleaming silver blades, locked in combat with all manner of foes. It doesn't take an expert to identify the race - githyanki, natives of the Astral Plane. A single door leads out from the room, hanging open and revealing a glimpse of a street beyond, still and quiet.

While Salix had, rightfully, no idea who Shawn was, the tiger-cub had somehow slipped his notice up until now, and apparently the notice of his Spider (Eloise) as well, and for the remainder of the trip the young elf-like man was seen taking notes on the behaviour of the cub, occasionally tapping the ground with his foot to prevent the large spider from getting to close to Rocket.

Once they reached this... building, Salix skipped over to it with almost cheerful anticipation, his belt of things clanging and clinging, medallions dangling and dingling and generally making a ruckus.

"The Githyanki, yes... hm... surprised to see them depicted like this... warrior culture, not often dedicated to art... or so I've read somewhere, ha." he took a deep breath through his nose as he tried to focus his mind, looking over the ruins with a bright smile on his face, "What happened here? The plague? Strange results, ruins even more disconcerting... remains, perhaps, of an old culture. No? Probably... strange that depictions remain, presumably more Githyanki came, or, perhaps more likely, new arrivals cared not for such trivialities. Defacing usually signs of primitives, more advanced would level building... or paint over, yes."

Lorraine hadn't actually seen Rocket before, and so wasn't thrown off too much by that girl not being Shawn. She was somewhat surprised that there were two girls that size in the guild, but then these were the Planes. More than likely she'd eventually meet a third and maybe even a fourth.

When they went through the door, after a quick look around the Studio Lorraine wasted no time taking to the street. Hopefully the surrounding environs wouldn't have a similar look to them.

Silver War

The travelers pass from Stair to studio, Lorraine heading straight for the exit to the street. Stepping over the threshold, it only takes her a moment to spy the grisly sight. Three githyanki corpses litter the path near the building, their heads seemingly burst from within. The bodies are extremely fresh, though, with no sign of rot whatsoever, nor any sort of stench. The weapons of all three still stay sheathed, and one looks to have been stopped out the door of his house in mid-donning of his armor. Whatever struck them did so quickly, and with little warning. As she looks around further, she can see more bodies in either direction, and some even freely floating in the air. The buildings themselves look fairly ravaged by whatever occurred here, spindly cracks visible on a number of the constructions around here. The way the ground curves away ahead of her but stays relatively flat to her left and right (though to her right, it does seem fairly hilly) suggests she's on a chunk of rock that's roughly cylinder-shaped, at least a quarter mile in diameter and stretching about as far to either side. And overhead spans the vast Silver Void, the sky a mass of glowing silver with a half-dozen long, endless threads reaching across the sky and fading into infinity to either side. Indeed, they are within the Astral Plane.

While Lorraine investigates the street, as the rest of the party flows in and starts to mill forward after her, the floor underfoot begins to creak. Soon, though, the sound begins to echo from the entire building. They all notice cracks begin to spread across the floor beneath them, inching their way up the walls, and from outside Lorraine can see the same on the outer walls; with all the extra weight, this building doesn't look to be lasting much longer. The entrance to the Stair is still wide open, yet they would be certain to be cut off from Lorraine if they took that route of escape...and as for Lorraine itself, that would be horribly risky. But would they even have time to get out onto the street instead?

Lorraine:
Spoiler:
As you think on the matter, you realize; since the Astral is a timeless realm, the state of the corpses doesn't say much at all, really. They'd appear in the same condition whether they died an hour or a century ago, especially with no native scavenger insects or the like. The collapse of the building distracts you of thinking much more on what you know of the plane, except you don't know anything especially relevant in this situation; something about flying with the mind, but that's only people, things still keep the gravity they're left with. I'll give you more detail after this scene when time's less of an issue.

Kongunvir had been slightly alarmed when he'd realised that their diminutive companion wasn't Shaun but, like Lorraine, he'd simply attributed the surprise to the nature of the planes and moved on, taking some time to ask the girl her name and who she was. He was in good spirits until they stepped through the portal and the building started to collapse. He took stock of one vital detail before acting; what was this side of the portal framed with?

(If the portal looks like it's capable of surviving the house collapsing then Kongunvir's running backwards. If it looks like it'll break and seal Lorraine off he'll make a rush for the streets.)

He had his answer; he ran forward, not willing to abandon a fellow guild member to an unfamiliar place. The fact that there was a collapsing building would have worried him if he hadn't immediately come across the massacre as he made it outside. He didn't know these creatures, but something foul had been perpetrated here.

The portal looks to be made of the same stone as the rest of the building, like it's just a door in the wall. Most likely it would break when the building collapses. Although from what Kongunvir learned of the Stair from Madaliina, the break wouldn't be permanent, at least, and the entire party wouldn't be stuck here; it would just take time to regenerate before it links somewhere close by to that building. Anywhere from a few days to a couple weeks.

Also, just a note: Lorraine's the only one yet that saw the bodies, they were just outside the building and out of sight from the doorway. Though anyone that heads outside would see them almost immediately; we'll just say that's what Kongunvir's reaction was after he got outside instead?

Salix was barely able to tear his mind from the analysis he was making, looking in surprise at Kongunvir and only then noticing the cracks and creaking.

"Wh...What is going on?" He looked around, confused, not moving back or forth, instead shifting his glance back towards the depictions and the others, looking as if he'd rather abandon what was going on and return to the calm and pleasant observation of the stone and architecture.

What were they doing? Standing there? Shit. Shit shit shit shit-

"GET OUT! MOVE!"

She didn't have time to do anything that would help, and didn't know any spells that would be more effective or efficient than the others simply picking a direction and running. She sat in her saddle, willing the others to do something before they were crushed by the collapsing building.

Going back through the portal wouldn't do much to advance the quest, so moving forward was Rosalyn's obvious choice. But as she started forward, she noticed Salix floundering. The call from outside only emphasized the urgency of the situation, but she had to make sure he got out.

"This place is going to collapse!" she shouted to the elf. "Come on, we have to move!"

With that, she started running for the door again. She hoped he would follow, but she couldn't delay any more.

The new girl crossed her arms under her cloak, putting her hood back up. "Bah, a little building collapse from time to time's good for ya! Builds character!"

She paused, and thought a second. "...Wait...I'll be okay...But what about my totally awesome sweet mysterious cloak!?"

She scooped up Rocket with a "C'mere, you!" and began running out, her feet, clad in large black greaves, making horrible "CLANG CLANG CLANG" noises against the floor as she ran. The kid was definitely a few stones heavier than she looked.

Salix had registered Lorraine's urging shout... but he'd REALLY wanted to study the inscriptions and drawings more! For a few more seconds he was looking back and forth, then Rosalyn was yelling at him and he nodded with a frightened look on his face, hurrying outside with a displeased looking spider coming after.

Well, it was probably displeased, it had been skittering around the boy's feet for quite a bit, nipping at the cloth of his cape.

Astral Plane - Githyanki City

The party rushes for the doorway as the floor crumbles underfoot and the ceiling caves in above them. Debris rains down above them as they flow from the door and out onto the street. Last out, Salix can feel the ground fall away beneath him as he reaches the exit. His foot catches on the edge just seconds before he plummets into the warehouse's basement, and he spills out onto the ground, scrambling the last few inches to safety.

Behind them, the building collapses into rubble, the walls barely standing the pressure. As the collapse comes to a halt, barely anything is left of the building behind them but a pile of loose rock, and a cloud of dust is sent into the air in its wake thick enough to set off a small wave of coughing. Here and there, remnants of the building's tapestries jut from the remains, the only sign of what once stood here.

Once the damage settles, the area falls quiet, not a hint of noise coming from anyone but the party. Rocket and Eloise stay close to their masters (and far from one another), while Aaron keeps perched on Lorraine's shoulder, finding the entire setting unsettling even before the warehouse began to fall. And Paul just didn't care. The rest of the Planewalkers now have an opportunity to take in the carnage Lorraine had seen just earlier; some sort of battle definitely hit here hard. Nearly all (but not entirely all) the buildings in sight seem to have damage of varying degrees, but the way the ground curves away strangely, there's much of the town out of site from this location.

As a note: now that everyone's not harried, you have a chance to notice that some of you might look slightly different than normal. Everyone here looks as idealized as their personal self-image of themselves holds.

Lorraine:
Spoiler:
Now that you've got a moment to collect your thoughts; the Astral is a realm of pure thought. Even your bodies here, they aren't real, they're simply mental translations of your personal self images. The naturally strong stay strong, but even those that aren't may be here. (Mechanically, for anything normally requiring one of the physical stats, you can choose to substitute Int for Str, Wis for Dex, and Cha for Con.) Gravity only exists when you want it to, you just have to decide for it to not and push yourself with a thought. Time holds at a stand-still - there is no biological need to eat, drink, or sleep here, though you can still enjoy all of them, and there is no aging on the Astral Plane. You do have to be a bit careful, though, for when you leave, it all catches up to you. You won't instantly starve if you go without food, or dehydrate if you go without water, but you will become ravenously hungry or thirsty.

Salix:
Spoiler:
You don't know much about the astral, except that it's between the Outer Planes and the Prime, and there's no time here, whatever that means.

Trivale:
Spoiler:
You might not know much about your mental powers just yet, but you know enough from your training to recognize the after-effects. Whoever attacked here, they were definitely psionic.

Shini's amazing character of pure awesome:
Spoiler:
Your cloak made it out entirely unscathed, because you're just that awesome. Go you!

Kongunvir, Salix, Rosalyn:
Spoiler:
Free of the collapsing wreckage, and with the endless silver void spanning over your head, you can feel something itching at the back of your mind. Somehow, you can tell that here, you're only as real as you think you are. You don't know exactly what that means, but if nothing else, you feel that rules like gravity only apply as much as you think they do.

Kongunvir coughed and waved away the dust that swamped him in the wake of the collapsing building. Normally he'd be glad to experience any reminder of his old life but now was not the time to reminisce. There'd been a slaughter here and now strange thoughts were popping into his mind. What did that even mean? He shook his head, took a few steps away from the building and tried to take stock of their situation.

"I can't say that this was what I was expecting." he said to no-one in particular.

(Perception check, surveying the carnage and trying to gain insight into what exactly happened here. Will Stonecunning help determine how these buildings have been damaged?)

Salix reclaimed his footing slowly, wobbling a bit and looking not a little pale. He brushed his clothes slightly and shifted back his hair, not noticing that his skin had taken on a bleached white and black spotted hue, a certain bark-like quality to it. His hair was reflecting green in the light, looking almost like leaves.

The young elf looked around, coughed a little dust and spotted the bodies.

"What happened here? Who killed these gith?" He shuddered slightly, looking to the others. "This cannot be the result of the plague, someone attacked them..."

Astral Plane - Githyanki City

Kongunvir surveys the damage, taking in the details of the city about him. From what he can gather, the damage wasn't inflicted by anything physical. On some, it seems to have cracked from within, damaged by some great internal pressure within the stone itself. On scant few, though, it shows signs of having been ruptured by a great sonic force - spellwork, most likely, and of either enough strength or enough quantity to rampage over these buildings. Further, it doesn't appear to be purely incidental damage. Whoever struck here wished to strike against not merely the githyanki, but their holdings as well.

"You're right." Kongunvir said with a nod in Salix's direction. "This looks like a deliberate attack. Spellcraft was used, buildings targeted deliberately. Whoever did this wasn't interested in plunder. They were out for blood."

"Not spellcraft exactly, friend." replies Trivale, frowning at this display of wanton destruction. "I've been around spellcraft, and it doesn't usually feel this... familiar." Was this truly the sort of thing that would cause the plague in the Staircase? Trivale thought not. Not alone, anyway. Perhaps something or someone far more powerful? No answer came to him just yet, but then, he hardly expected one to. "Though it seems like we might have some trouble finding a way back later."

"We were going to spend time investigating this place regardless. We can worry about finding out way back later." Kongunvir took another look around, surveying the destruction once again as he mulled over the words that had sprung into his mind moments before.

"I think we've found the site of a culling." He said at last. "The plague was here and someone decided that they didn't want it spreading. If belief matters as much as I think it does in this plane I can see why they took such extreme measures." He tried not to think too hard about the ramifications of becoming infected in a place such as this.

Lorraine hadn't noticed anything yet, but her hair is longer now, nearly to her ankles in a far-too-perfect ponytail, not a hair out of place. Her body was unchanged, though her grey eyes now seemed to shine a bit, looking more intense than was strictly natural.

Now that everyone was safe, and Lorraine could look around analytically again, she felt numb. They were surrounded by bodies. The nature of the plane spared them the experience of being around masses of rotting flesh and the need to vomit that would provoke. However that didn't keep the quantity of death around them from impacting her. She rubbed her arms as she continued to look around.

"We should look for survivors."

Salix nodded eagerly, looking around. He wasn't sure about survivors though, and as he knelt down to inspect one of the bodies, heedless of any thoughts about the plague, he shook his head in a few moments.

"Survivors are very unlikely. If this was a culling, then the killers were thorough... but rushed. Yes, job half-done. Corpses remaining, not burned, not buried or otherwise disposed of. Not necessary done to retain the disease, also possibly done in self-defense. Gith not always friendly... too many unknown factors, would like to investigate further..." he took another deep breath and dug around in his satchels, taking out a small knife. "I will study this sample. Want to confirm theories, we should look for survivors. Changed my mind, support idea that stragglers might exist."

Astral Plane - Githyanki City

The party starts out, exploring the city and beginning their search. Everything continues to be eerily still, bodies resting on the ground where they fell or, in a few places, floating in mid-air, small globules of bright violet blood undulating around them until touched by the party, falling immediately to the ground after.

More damage becomes visible as they take the streets across the oblong chunk of stone. The city was obviously built to be as well-defensible as an open settlement can be, with tall defense towers extending every thousand feet or so in each direction. They obviously weren't enough, though, as with each tower they come across, the uppermost sections have been entirely obliterated by whatever forces struck here. The largest buildings in the city look to have been utterly devastated, resting in massive piles of rubble dotted with githyanki bodies. And still, everything here looks as fresh as the day it happened, with no signs how much time has passed since the massacre.

Then, something finally breaks the silence. A clang of metal against stone resounds from nearby; a harpoon striking the road to their side. A quick glance upwards reveals the source, something especially incongruous here. Six sahuagin, fish-men. One, apparently the leader, wears armor of shell-shards, but the others have little more than a few woven kelp-like arm- and leg-sleeves draped over their scaled, finned forms. They all bear shoulder harnesses filled with more barbed harpoons, and keep tridents lashed across their back. And each has a kelp satchel over their other shoulder, quite obviously bristling with goods snatched from the village's ruins.

The leader points his trident at the party from overhead, hissing at them before shouting out in stilted, heavily-Aquan-accented Common. "Our takings! Away! We found the blblood, we get the takings! Flflee now or else!"

They don't appear to be any sort of true threat to the group; either they aren't aware of that, or they're hoping you aren't. Further, there's obviously no blood on their weapons, and none you'd run across so far had wounds anything like the weapons these creatures hold. To all appearances, they're nothing but looters, but how shall they be dealt with?

Lorraine:
Spoiler:
You've read of sahuagin; they're violent, horrid water dwellers that would sooner wipe out the air-breathers than deal with them. They deal very poorly with bright light and dry conditions, and they're especially vicious when angered or harmed; even so, though, not likely anything this party would have to worry about.

Kongunvir jumped as the harpoon clattered off the stonework, bringing up his shield as his hand went for his axe. He brought his weapon up as the fishmen spoke, a threat of violence in response to their own.

"Take all you want, scavengers. We're not here to pick the dead clean. Keep your distance and we'll do the same."

This was finally it! The time had come! The grand debut! This is exactly what she had been waiting for!

The girl grinned a big, pointy toothed grin. "Not so fast!"

A fade back. A sweep of the arm, rotation of the shoulder, and a flourish of the opposite. The brown cloak flew back, revealing very strange armor, identical to the girl Thirteen's, other than color. Bulky gauntlets and boots, along with an odd midsection of a light grey color, and a skin tight suit of black. The girl's elven ears twitched, and her yellow eyes seemed to glow a bit brighter, as her hands made "Wooshing" noises as she moved them, followed by soft cracking noises when she stopped.

"You face Flea the Invincible now! Surrender now or die in obscurity!"

She shifted again, holding out her hand and beckoning the leader forward. "Come at me, bro!"

Salix took a few steps backwards as the fishmen appeared. Strange, he'd not thought they'd encounter them here. Obviously not an invasion-force, too small, and they seemed agitated... looters, yes, the dwarf was right, but what about this girl. Flea? He gave her an incredulous look; why was she trying to antagonize them? He opened his mouth to say something, found that he didn't have the courage and instead too another few steps backwards, looking for Eloise... Was she picking a fight with one of the other pets? He stomped his feet a few times to try to catch her attention as he looked nervously to the others.

"C...can't we just tell them we mean them no harm?" he whispered to Lorraine, the closest.

Astral Plane - Githyanki City

Kongunvir's comment seems to stop them short, however briefly. When their companion - Flea, they now know - speaks up, though, a snarl issues up from the leader.

"We do not surrurrender to air brbreathers!" Shouting out in Aquan, the entire group draw harpoons, rearing back to toss. This won't end peacefully after all.

Combat! Remember, you don't have to wait for your point in the initiative order to post. Also, people with animal companions/pets/familiars, go ahead and act for them if you'd like even if I usually RP them. If they're not doing anything combat-relevant in this fight, say so and I'll go ahead and drop them from the initiative order.

Bes, let me know if Lorraine's mounted or walking Paul; for now I assumed the former in the map. And Aaron's starting on the same square as you.

Kongunvir was struck dumb for a moment, such was the audacity of their diminutive companion's challenge. However, as the fish-men readied their weapons, a grin spread across his face and a laugh rumbled up from his belly. If they all survived this he'd have to congratulate the little one.

(Charging S2 if engaged and unopposed, using his free 5-foot step if necessary. If he's locked down then he'll use a Full Attack against whatever's nearest though he'll try not to attack the leader. That one belongs to Flea in his eyes.)

So much for there being a peaceful resolution to this. Thinks Trivale as he unlimbers his bow and takes aim at the nearest of the attackers.

(Just going to make an attack against S3 for now, and we'll see what's what later.)

Probably not the best outcome. At least, it would be a waste of arrows. But perhaps the Sahuagin would have made a problem of themselves anyway, if not for Rosalyn's companions, then for someone else. In any case, the course was set at this point.

She didn't particularly see getting them all into a dangerous situation as reason for one of the enemies to belong to someone, but she decided to turn her first attacks on the lesser enemies anyway, hoping to limit the damage they might do and preferring to deal with them all right here and now than to have to chase any of them down.

(Full ranged attack with Rapid Shot and Manyshot on S3.)

Well damn. That was probably unavoidable, so Lorraine didn't necessarily fault Flea for provoking the fish men, but at the same time she was somewhat... put off. Picking fights on purpose didn't sit well with her, but not enough to openly act against Flea. Hell, she probably wouldn't even mention it after the fight, all things considered. She did feel like doing something a little passive aggressive, though.

She spoke a few well practice words of arcane power, gesturing oddly while rubbing some kind of powder in her fingers. It glowed brilliant blue and headed for Flea. Lorraine waited just long enough to watch it connect, before urging Paul to ascend and moving herself out of the cluster the party now stood in.

Flea makes an effort to look as if she's doing THE BIGGEST JUMP EVER, and flies towards the lead fishman!

As she does, she begins to...grow.

...Still not incredibly large, but about six feet tall, so large for the kid she is. "Ha!" She screams, approaching for THE BIGGEST UPPERCUT EVER. "You guys totally looked bigger down there!"

Astral Plane - Githyanki City - Round 1

Trivale is first to react, drawing his shortbow with lightning speed and shooting a shaft into the shoulder of the nearest sahuagin. Aaron shoots like a streak off Lorraine's shoulder nearly as fast, screeching as he tears into one of the rear guard - though he does little actual damage to his target, Lorraine's mind is filled with his feelings of glee over helping fight off these attackers.

One of the sahuagin tries to harpoon Rosalyn's companion, though his weapon merely deflects off the magic armor she's gifted to her. As metal clashes against metal, Lorraine chants, and she can feel the forces of the Astral flow through her. In a mental realm such as this, Transmutation seems even simpler than usual. Flea grows to twice her height in nearly an instant, and it's all Rocket can do to skitter out of the way in time.

Lifting up on her horse, it feels more to Lorraine that she's the one pulling Paul along, the flight metered not by physical ability but rather by mental. Still, she can't focus on it for long as the rear sahuagin pulls his trident and strikes back at the hawk that's just near-blinded him, hitting a wing but doing no real damage. Still, the pain echoes down her mental link, and she can't help but feel the phantom pain in her own arm.

Drawing her own bow, Rosalyn's arm moves almost too quick to track, as three arrows seem to almost appear out of nowhere in her target's body. His chest collapses, and she can tell he was dead even from the first strike. And meanwhile, Flea shows her own skills, launching off the ground in an attack that's as much Astral flight as her own physical capabilities, impacting the leader's chin with a resounding CRACK that echoes over the dead city. His eyes seem to fade red as he strikes back against Flea, and though his trident does leave its marks across her torso, it seems to do little else.

Kongunvir propels himself at his own foe, cleaving nearly through his chest in a single blow; this attack seems to be the last straw for two of the raiding party, as they quickly begin flying dead away from the city, seeing how far they've misjudged the strength of these Planewalkers.

Round 1
Trivale fires at Sahuagin 3 with his short bow; he hits for 4 damage
Aaron flies at Sahuagin 5 and attacks with his talons; he hits for 1 damage
Sahuagin 2 throws a harpoon at Goblin, and misses.
Lorraine casts Enlarge Person on Flea and ascends 50 feet
Sahuagin 5 attacks Aaron with his trident and hits for 6 damage
Rosalyn attacks Sahuagin 3 with Rapid Shot and Manyshot, and hits twice, the double-shot critically. She deals 55 damage.
Flea charges Sahuagin Leader, and hits for 10 damage.
The Sahuagin Leader enters Rage, and attacks Flea with his trident, activating Powerful Blow. He hits, dealing 9 damage.
Kongunvir charges Sahuagin 2, and hits for 11 damage.
Sahuagin 1 withdraws
Sahuagin 4 withdraws

"No, wait, what!? Stop, no blood!" he looks around alarmingly, waving his hands to the others. "Please stop, this isn't right, it's just a misunderstanding!"

There's a hint of desperation in his voice, some shock at the sudden turn to a bloodbath, and he's got a small sickle in his hands, clutching it tight to his chest as he looks around wide-eyed.

He seems lost at what to do, not noticing how Eloise raises the front legs of her body threateningly and with a hiss she scuttles towards the leader of the fishmen, intent on biting and gnawing!

Astral Plane - Githyanki City - Round 1

Frozen with indecision, Salix watches the scene around him as the violence unfolds. Nearby, Rocket keeps near to the group, confused and unsure amongst all the distractions, while Rosalyn's goblin protégé - after reeling from her mentor's impressive display - lets one of her own arrows fly. Striking Kongunvir's target in the shoulder, she knocks the fishman unconscious, now floating in the air before Kongunvir with wheezing breath. Across the path from Kongunvir, Salix's spider crawls across the ground and up the wall of a damaged building, drawing close to the leader of the looters.

Round 1
Salix holds action
Rocket does nothing
Goblin fires at Sahuagin 2 with her longbow, and hits for 5 damage. Sahuagin 2 is knocked out.
Eloise moves to F12 along the wall of the building.

Kongunvir kicked the creature away from him before looking around for another foe. One of the high-flying snipers caught his attention and he propelled himself towards them, still grinning. Flea's taunting had been amusing, but the sense of freedom he felt while flying was intoxicating. He willed himself onwards and upwards, ignoring the nagging voice in the back of his head that told him that he belonged on the ground.

(I believe he's out of charge range, so Kongunvir will "run" at S1 and move to melee range, using his free 5-foot step to do so if he needs to. Otherwise he'll save that for any attempts his opponent makes to disengage.)

Lorraine's eyes followed Aaron's flight, and she grimaced as she saw he'd chosen to attack one of the fish men who was alone, and otherwise unharassed by her group. Somehow she didn't think Aaron could take this one on his own, and she certainly wasn't taking any chances with the matter. She streatched for a hand and uttered something harsh sounding.
