Emily was content to let Ettezan go, giving her a little wave. No doubt some kind of explanation would be forthcoming, but trying to get it out of Ettezan was likely a waste of time.

"H-Hold it r-r-right t-there, Ettezan!" Alexis yelled from a bit further back while she took out a chip from her scarf. It was small, but anyone watching could see the tiny image of a fireball on it, stylized of course, and without pausing Alexis slid the chip into the slot of her arm.

Once more a transformation came over the girl, and like water running down her body, her armor turned into bright-orange and red, her long hair becoming the red of fire and her eyes turning blue light the innermost part of a candleflame. She narrowed her eyes, grinned, and then her hands were on fire. It wasn't anything... large, but since the first time the girl had gotten the chip, she seemed to have gained some control over her terror... but the almost maddening look on her face might've indicated something was just a little bit wrong.

"OUT OF THE WAY! THIS BITCH IS MINE!" She roared with a laughter, storming towards the ice-zombie with death in her eyes.

Normally, at this juncture, Max would stand in Alexis's way all serious-faced and say something stoic like "Not today" or "There will be another time" or something. But something about witnessing sweet, shy little Alexis transform herself into a red-hot, flaming (literally and figuratively) ball of rage has visibly shaken him, noticeable to anyone who would for whatever reason happen to be watching him instead of the calamity that is about to unfold.

With his reaction time slowed and his bravado compromised, the most Max can muster is to hold up his hand and say "Umm... wait... I don't think that's such a good idea."

In the middle of slipping out with Juliet, Sam glances up to Alexis while she calls out to Ettezan. As she transforms, he freezes in place gape-mouthed. He stumbles as Juliet bumps into him, and tries to say something in response, but after a scene like that, he just can't seem to find the words to say anything.

Alexis grinded to a halt as Max spoke up, her eyes falling upon him for a second as she clenched and unclenched her fists, her long hair tousling up even more by the second, looking very much like a living flame.

"No, Max! It wasn't a good idea to run headfirst into Wunderkind's fucking Headquarters!" she stomped her foot, turning her attention back at Ettezan with a snarl. "You come to finish the work, zombie? Ellastic's not here, but as far as I recall she didn't kick your ass last time!"

"STAND DOWN!? Alexis turned her blood-shot eyes on Rivendare, glaring at him. "She's attacking us! She's attacked us before!" She looked back at Ettezan once more, then a wave of uncertaintly flushed across her face, before...

"AAARRRRGH!" She almost roared as she leapt at the ice-zombie, the fires in her hands flaring up as she swiped at her enemy. In a nano-second, her index- and longfingers had turned small blades and she was trying to impale the zombie's left leg with one of her hands, hiding it under a more obvious blow to the guts with the other.

Faster than even a Wunderkind can react, Ettezan spins, striking Alexis right in the face with a fist, flooring her. She's hit hard enough that her system is knocked offline, sprawling the Wunderkind out on the floor. Ettezan turns, shooting the twins a firm look. "You caught me off guard last time. Remember that."

She brushes past the two, onto the balcony, before leaping off into the snowy...Afternoon.

As Alexis falls unconscious, the fire in her hands dissipates and the vibrant warm colors drain from her hair and uniform. Max runs over to her and falls to his knees at her side. He realizes he's not really sure how to check for Wunderkind vital signs. He reaches to cradle her head, but stops himself, not sure if it's a good idea to touch her in this condition. Really, he's just a bundle of conflicting emotions right now.

Bottom line, though... Alexis got hurt because Max let a moment of weakness stop him from stopping her. He leans over her and whispers "I'm sorry."

He stays there for a moment, kneeling, head hung low, generally feeling sorry for himself. It doesn't last too long, though, before he punches the ground.

"Dammit!" Max shoots up to his feet and glares at Rivendare, angrier than anyone gathered has probably ever seen him, save Emily. "What the fuck was that? What the Hell did she mean by 'always a pleasure?' If you knew she was going to come here," Max gestures fiercely towards the balcony, "why on god's green Krynus wouldn't you tell us?"

"I told you to disregard." Rivendare says firmly. "That wasn't an order from me. That was an order from Anka. And more than her, that was an order from Hayward. You were to disregard, and Alexis was to stand down."

Rivendare begins walking away on that note. Kid slowly approaches from a connecting hall, looking around. "Uh...What was that about? Is...Everyone okay?"

Max is really shouting now. "That's not good enough! You can pass the buck all you want, but if you expect us to open our home to the biggest threat we've faced so far, I think at the very least you owe us an explanation for what the Hell she was doing here!"

Seeing Alexis transform into some crazed engine of fiery vengeance had shocked Emily into immobility. Perhaps worst of all had been the abrupt shift in attitude. Between that and the damage Ettezan had inflicted on her, Emily was seriously worried. In Max, that worry had transformed into anger. For her, whatever passed for adrenaline in this body of hers was screaming for flight rather than fight.

"Max." Thankfully, she was able to speak without a quaver in her voice, "Can we make sure Alexis is okay first? We can talk the rest of it out later." Her tone was distinctly sympathetic, but shouting at Rivendare wasn't going to accomplish anything right now.

Alexis stirred slightly, an almost imperceptible whirr as her internal systems rebooted, before a slight ticking... then a hiss and the sounds from inside the wunderkind subsided and she opened her eyes slowly, lying completely still.

"W-wh...what happened?" She blinked a few times, more to test her motor functions than anything, and she winced as she spoke, her voice a little slurry. She touched her jaw slightly, blinking again, paling even more than usual.

"...D...Did w-we s-s-stop E-Ettezan? She p-p-punched me and..."

Rivendare stops, and looks over his shoulder. "You might've got an explanation, if you'd keep your cool for ten minutes and let me situate my equipment and my men. Don't you dare think for a second I like this any more than you do, kid."

Rivendare continues walking, calling out to some techs. "They provoked her. Get some repairs on Alexis' jaw and get them ready to go! They have a shopping trip and I swear I'm going to ream you if they miss it, understood?"

The keen eyed may notice Anka standing near the corner, before she, too, turns and begins to walk away. One might get the idea she's a bit more approachable than Rivendare right now.

Sam glances over, looking between Anka and Alexis. He wants to go over, ask her about what's going on, but he doesn't want to leave her alone. Glancing to Juliet, trusting her more than the techs despite her usual attitude, he asks her about the matter in a slightly shaky voice. "...Is Alexis gonna be okay? She sounds okay...is she all right?"

Max looks to Emily, whose unique sympathetic understanding is quite possibly the most effective tool in existence for tempering his anger. Plus, it's difficult to argue that Alexis should take priority right now. But he's still pissed and confused and disappointed in himself. And there's so many questions left to ask..

Max's expression softens a little. But then Rivendare pulls his attention back, talking about provocation and shopping and... reaming? But it wasn't fair! Max and Emily had no intention of starting a fight, they just wanted to know what was going on. They didn't even grab any weapons. What could they possibly have hoped to accomplish without them? "But, that's not..." Max gestures between himself and his twin sister. "We didn't...!"

Well, the Wunderkind are a team. They're all responsible for one another. Max isn't about to throw Alexis under the bus, especially aver she just got laid out. Plus, he can't really get mad at Rivendare for shifting blame and then turn right around and do the same thing himself. Bottom line, this whole thing was a group fubar.

Max is still pouty, but he's calmed enough to understand that he's not the only person who's pissed off right now. Still, a little validation would be nice.

With an exasperated sigh, Max addresses Anka, who currently seems less likely to punch someone than Rivendare. "Okay, so maybe we overreacted a little, but, you know, as the public relations guru or whatever, isn't it at least understandable? I don't intend to apologize for anything, but can we maybe talk about it later, when Alexis gets fixed up?" Actually, Max is expecting something between a lecture on protocol and a stern talking-to after this little episode. He'd prefer a discussion.

Enzo stood in the hall outside the room, still kind of in shock. He hadn't had time to get in before everything went south, but he'd seen and heard everything through the others.They had made Rivendare mad again, and now in about seven seconds they would be face to face. He wasn't sure what he was going to do. There had to be all sorts of excuses for what had happened here, but none of them were coming to mind. On some level he knew this wasn't their fault, but he couldn't start to explain how. It didn't make sense to be scared, of course: The worst Rivendare would do is make some disparaging comment to Enzo as he passed by, but somehow that still managed to sound pretty terrible. He wanted to run back into the room he'd been in just before, but his legs didn't seem to be working. He stood rooted to the floor, waiting for Rivendare to walk though and fighting down completely irrational panic.

Juliet kneels in, looking over and pressing into Alexis's jaw some. "The hinge is snapped. She'll need repairs- Deep repairs. I can't do that here. If she gets to the medbay I can, or that hairbrained mechanic."

Anka stops, and nods. "If you want to stop by my office tonight...I can explain. I'm sorry."

Rivendare walks past Enzo, but stops, backtracking a bit, and ruffling his hair. He smiles a bit, though it's kind of a sad smile. "Hey, sorry about that, kiddo. I really...Don't mean to yell at you guys, just an intense, delicate situation. Why don't you go help your brothers and sisters get cleaned up and we'll head out, okay?"

Enzo managed a ever so slightly delayed, weak smile. That was not what he was expecting at all. He nodded and, feeling his legs unlock, he rushed off to help the others. Maybe he needed to give Rivendare the benefit of the doubt more often... For that matter, maybe they all did.

"You kind of flipped out," Emily said. Not all that descriptive, but to the point, "You attacked Ettezan and she kicked you... pretty darn hard, really." It seemed pretty clear that Alexis's control over the fire chip wasn't nearly as good as she'd thought. Although to be fair, Emily didn't think any of them had considered the idea that the chips might influence their minds.

Helping Alexis up, Sam nods to Juliet, starting to lead her to the medbay. "It's okay, you're gonna be fine. Like Emily said, you tried to go after Ettezan alone." He laughs a bit; forced, but he needs to help her feel better. "You did really good until she hit you, though!"

He looks back to Juliet with relief and gratitude, glancing to Anka as they pass by. He'd like to talk to her too after this, but this is way more important for now.

Special Mission: 1- Winterviel
Location: Deck City- The Deck- Hanger (Basement 1)
December 10th, 3756
4:20 PM.

The sun is already setting on Deck City, and the snow is falling hard. The children have been transferred to their 'civilian' bodies, and...Nothing really quite feels right in here. Balance is way off, weight distribution is funky, and everything feels so flimsy. But, they have to do it, for now- They've got a shopping trick to Deck City Mall! A van's been set up for the kids- ALL of them- to get there.

They've also been hit with instruction- Wear something nice. Pictures are being taken, after all- Both individual and group pictures.

Juliet is already sitting in the van with the sliding door hanging open, reading from her large, iron bound book- One can only hope she's being told to leave it in the car. She's wearing a classy black shirt and red skirt, with a bow in her hair.

Janet is wandering around outside, wearing a red sweater with white snowflakes, and a black skirt. She looks oddly nervous.

Kid, oddly, is dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt with Ellastic's logo on the front, and jeans. Her ears are elfen, even in this body. She's got her hands shoved in her pockets, and is leaning against the van.

And finally, Casey, in an amazingly clean set of overalls with a red T-shirt, is shouting at her staff, telling them not to dare touch any of her projects while she's gone. One might think she's in the spirit- She's wearing a fuzzy Grandfather Winter hat, after all!

Sam heads up to the van while Casey does her shouting, approaching Janet and Kid with a wide smile. Ever since Alexis was fixed up, he's been feeling much better, even standing Juliet a lot more after she helped Alexis's other body get into the medbay. Showing up in a nice red-and-white Winterviel sweater and pressed black pants, he's ready for the trip and feeling really good about things. He's still not quite used to being back in his "old" body, but he's taking it slow, easing back into it, and it looks like Janet might be doing the same. Waving to both of them, he darts up, careful not to trip.

"Hi Kid, hi Janet! Are you ready? This is gonna be lots of fun! I've already got all kindsa ideas for what I'm gonna get everyone, I really hope both of you'll like your stuff."

Alexis was standing at the back rows, as usual, looking a little ashamed (she'd found out, at least part of, what she'd done with her fire-chip in), her face half-covered with the large, scarlet red scarf she'd found. She was wearing pinkish-white stockings under a black, knee-length skirt, and a big, knitted moss-green sweater she'd gotten from Doctor Sarah Conway, her handler. The sweater had an A on the chest, and Alexis looked like she was almost drowning in it, only the tips of her fingers sticking out from the cuffs.

I've got a list of things I'd like to get... she spoke out in an impossibly quiet voice over the com-net, sliding into the backseat of the van and fastening her seat-belt.

Max shows up wearing a pinstriped charcoal vest over a red long-sleeve button-up shirt, a pair of black jeans, a pair of Skywalk skater shoes, and a sweet gray fedora with a black band that his handler Dominic gave him. It's a lot like the one he had in the Battlemon mission, only without the monsphere motif. He stops behind Casey and playfully bats the pom on her Winterveil cap. "Nice," he remarks, with a smirk.

Emily opted for warmth in her attire, with jeans and a green jersey with an owl pattern knitted into it. Being back in something like her old body was going to take some getting used to, and she was forever in motion, trying out the occasional twirl out of sheer exuberance. Being out in public properly was going to be good, and she had a whole bunch of people to go shopping for. She had a list, but that could easily go out the window in the face of impulse buys. The others seemed pretty enthusiastic as well, except for Alexis, who was still quite subdued. Emily would need to talk to her about the whole fire thing at some point, but she hadn't had the heart to so far.

"Need some company?" she asked Alexis. They'd likely scatter pretty quickly once they hit the mall, after all.

Kid looks at Janet oddly for a second, before turning back to Sam. "You don't gotta get me anything."

Max nods, and smiles wider at Casey's holiday bravado. "That may be so," he says with genuine mirth, "But you're not the only one in the Winterveil spirit." He turns to face more of the group. "There's entirely too many holiday sweaters out here. I mean, seriously, we're in semi-normal bodies for the first time, and y'all bust out the Norman Stonewell Winterveil catalogue? I'm all for holiday cheer and everything, but, Winterveil sweaters are like, the fashion equivalent of fruitcake. You know they're going to be taking pictures of us later, right?"

Max is having way too much fun.

"Seriously, why are Juliet and I on the 'best dressed' list all by ourselves?"

Alexis lowered her head a bit. She had really liked the clothes Doctor Sarah had helped her pick, but now she was suddenly really self-conscious about them. Yeah, she... she looked a bit... dull.

"W...We c-could look f-f-for s-something eh-else wuh-when w-we're in t...town..." she replied carefully, looking at the others and tugging at the scarf nervously.

Silvie also partook of the holiday cheer. She wore a pair of smart black slacks and mary janes, along with a red sweater of a little scottie terrier with a little Grandfather Winter hat on its little puppy head, and a matching red tartan bow in her curly hair.

"Hey," she protested. "This sweater's awesome, okay?"
