Waiting for Lauren's response, Louie looks back over his shoulder at the shameful scene. With a small sigh towards the vanishing Flea, he gives Alexis a nod. Quite a good showing for her first time out; a good showing indeed.

Enzo looked confused for a moment... but just a moment. Then he laughed. He took a moment to calm himself, before he decided that maybe he better explain what just happened. It was entirely possible the others had already gotten it for themselves, but still. Just in case.

"The game hasn't altered her code. She doesn't have any mons, and she can't get any. Not unless she deep dives and gives herself some. She's going to white out any time anyone or anything here challenges her to a battle."

Alexis was pumped, Spooky was pumped, and even though they couldn't technically know what was happening on the outside, you could bet your tight rear-end that all of Alexis' mons were pumped for the fight.

So it was with a long face she saw Flea just... faint and disappear, and Spooky even flew over to where she'd been, stomping at the ground and, for the first time, looking thoroughly annoyed with the result.

But then stuff was happening again, and a bag of money was thrust into her hands.

"U-u-um... uh... wow... t-thanks, I guh-guess?" She stammered out, blushing slightly and hiding her face in the large hood. With victory came the full realization of what she'd done, and she was super embarrassed about having blurted all that stuff out! Luckily, no one had commented on her home-made challenge text-box yet.

Emily couldn't help but laugh at Flea's come-uppance. "Well done, Alexis," she said, "Do you think Flea's going to learn from the experience, or keep on just the same?" she asked the group at large. Thirteen seemed the best-placed to answer the question, since she'd known Flea for a fair while, but Flea didn't strike Emily as the bright sort.

Max had just stopped laughing from Emily's reference when Flea's debut monsbattle spectacle started, which brought the laughter back even harder. This time he actually did drop his monsphere, but managed to catch it with his other hand.

"Ahh... good times, good times."

Laughing alongside Max, Sam calls Louie back over; with a slight "harumph", he heads back from Lauren and waits at Sam's side.

"So...um...are we gonna split up and head after the Juniorkind still?" He looks to Max and Enzo, the ones that have been the most leader-y in the past. "I don't really care that much which one I go after if we're still gonna do it. Who do you think should go where?"

"Splitting would probably be the best idea." Thirteen says. "Or else finding them all will become a problem. You have become characters within the game, so you should be equipped with Monscylopedias and Monsgears to use to identify monsters and communicate. Never forget: You have become part of the game. It will be very helpful."

"So..Wait." Janet says, walking up from behind, "If we became part of the game..What if we go into, like...Penultimate Illusion?"

Thirteen says nothing in response.

"Okay, so..." Lauren scribbled in her notebook. "You only fight with battlemons, if you're out of them you...disappear...you can't put other players in monspheres, and you get money if you defeat another trainer. Guess it's all up to you, Ambassador Leafshade."

"Hmmm..." Ambassador Leafshade paused speculatively. "I do feel some sort of Hidden Power within me."

"So, umm...I guess we pick 'yes'?" Lauren did so.

"Did we ever decide on how we're splitting up? I was only kinda paying attention earlier. It would probably make the most sense to split into three groups by battlemon experience, so we don't end up sending, say, Lauren into the end-of-the-game stuff."

Yeah, and maybe we should try to find out what kind of battlemons they have, if I'm going up against someone who's strictly fighting or normal, they won't have a chance against me. She thumbed her nose and grinned at the others... perhaps slightly creepy, because her expression was copied perfectly by Spooky... and the hoodie as well.

I'm going after the top-tier player, unless we divide evenly between those who know and those who don't... I mean, I could go with a chump, and help out, I guess?

Spooky didn't seem that hot on that idea though.

"Skill level would probably be best." Janet says. "So...I should probably be in the weaker team."

Kid saunters up, leaning against the Monspital wall. "I'll go with the middle. I never had a lot of time to play on set."

"I dunno. I think I'd be more comfortable in the middle team. I mean, I never got real serious into the strategy of these games. There's all kinds of stats that I don't really pay any attention to. I've got some good battlemon, but I mostly just paid attention to type differences and weaknesses and stuff. That's it."

"I'll do end game content with Alexis, if she's doing that. That way there's definitely at least two people on each team."

He stopped to consider to consider briefly, and then made a quick and dirty tally, which he displayed for the others as a semi-transparent overlay to their normal vision, small and draggable to where-ever they wanted it. It was their names, colored, and a key.

I could do the middle stuff, or the early stuff too if they need more people, in case they need help or something. Either one is good, whatever the rest of you think it best!" I think we might need some variation though... Alexis said, scratching the back of her head slightly, I might know what I'm doing, but all my mons... she frowned and glanced back at her backpack.

Well, almost all of my mons are ghost-type... so if the kid has like... other ghosts, or dark mons, I may be in for some trouble...

"Never did get to the endgame myself," Emily said, "But why not? Might as well have a go at it." It was, after all, only a game, and they could always have another go if they did get struck down by anything. The important thing was getting the Juniourkind out, but there wasn't a time limit on that.

Enzo turned a little red as he realized his blunder. He hadn't meant to mark Thirteen up anywhere, he just sort of had anyway. Whoops.

"Uhm, accident. Sorry."

He updated the list. He felt he needed to comment on Sam's statement about team sizes.

"And don't worry too much about keeping things even. forgetting for a minute that this game is meant to be played solo, if one group is too big and another is way too small, we can shuffle things up a little in a minute."

Looking over the group sizes so far, he was thinking about changing to mid-level content himself. His mons would only just squeak by in the end game, which was good if you want to earn a lot of experience points fast... but they had a job to do, something he needed to remind himself of more often. They wanted to go through more or less quickly, not grind for levels. Bah.

"Yeah, um, it's okay. You can go ahead and put me with the early group." Lauren shrugged. "I don't know this game very well, and I have no idea if my mons are any good or nYOW!" Lauren jumped as Ambassador Leafshade scratched her leg. "Um, except for Ambassador Leafshade, I mean."

"That's furret." Ambassador Leafshade said smugly. "...I mean, better."

Enzo quickly switched Lauren to the Early group, and on further consideration, himself to the mid-level group. He had a decent idea what Thirteen was going to do, but he'd wait for her to go ahead and say it anyway.

Sam nods, grinning. "Sure! I was just gonna say I'd do that." He turns to his two team mates. "Don't worry, it'll be a lot of fun! I'll help you with stuff, but I bet you'll get it pretty quick. Have you two played any kinds of games before? I know some people don't play a bunch of video games, but it'll probably be a lot easier to learn how to do stuff with them from inside I bet. Is there anything else you wanna know about the game an' stuff?"

Alexis was almost stomping her feet. Geez, could this be taking any longer? Still, she wasn't angry, just really, really pumped about being in one of her favorite games.

When she heard that Thirteen would be joining them in the endgame, she got super-excited. She liked the strange girl, she seemed so much more confident and in control, like a grown-up, which made Alexis, who was still pretty much a young kid, latch on to her. This, of course, was fairly obvious to anyone who knew about children's behaviour, but not Alexis herself.

No, she simply sidled up to Thirteen, looking a little embarrassed, and gave her hand a quick squeeze.

Have you played this game a lot, Thirteen? she asked digitally.

Oh boy! Then the two of them could trade strategies! Alexis hadn't actually finished the last game, she'd been too busy with wunderkind stuff, but when she'd been training she'd latched on to the series like obsessed... there was just something about capturing small animals, having them battle others and force them to evolve into stronger, and sometimes uglier, versions of themselves.

Alexis liked ghosts though, they were cool customers.

Endgame: The four girls making up the Endgame team are trudging up a snowy path leading up a mountain. Victory Road! Endgame! Where any Monster you can catch is about half as strong as the ones you've raised, and all the trainers are way harder than they should be! Their target is one of the two boys; they're not sure which though.

Although their bodies feel perfectly fine and warm, they can still feel a slight chill in their extremeties, and feel the cold wind on their faces. The snow is falling hard, and there are a lot of snow and ice types in the Tall Grass to prove it.

Thirteen leads the way, her jacket continuing to billow in the wind. "Is it what you expected?" She asks after a moment.

------

Midgame:

Enzo, Kid, and Max are in a desert type area. It''s a little warm, but mostly on the uncovered parts of their skin. There are numerous rock and earth types about, along with some weird dragonfly thing. Their target is the girl; she's apparantly in the middle of a dungeon crawl around here somewhere.

"Why do they always stick deserts right in the middle?" Kid moans. "She couldn't have been in a forest, nooooo."

----

Early Game:

Janet, Lauren, and Sam are walking down one of the grassy paths found earlier in the game! Sentrets, Pidgeys, and Ratata are common, along with the occasional Nidorino. It's a very nice, temperate day!

"So, do you still need a rundown on the game, Lauren?" Janet asks.

Alexis loved the cold air and snow, although she tried to keep her excitement down a notch since they were on a mission. Still, nothing calmed her more than the endless white, calm and cold of the winter landscape, and although the mountain-path to the Superior 4 was one of the toughest part of the game, she loved the fact that the Victory Road didn't just test your monsters, they tested your own determination as a trainer. This didn't usually translate that well through the game-monitor, but in here... she could feel herself coming closer to the ultimate destination of all battlemon trainers, challenging the Superior 4 for the title of BattleMon master.

This is amazing! I wish I could stay in this world forever! The wish was, of course, untempered by reason, just a joyful exclamation from a girl who might've been a little too obsessed with grindan games for her own good.

Sam walks alongside the two, Louie keeping watch ahead. His well-honed combat instincts have already defended them from at least two vicious rattatas. Under his guidance, they're sure to be safe from all manner of threats along this grassy trail.

Enzo sort of wanted to ask Kid to cheer up... but he really wasn't feeling this desert business himself, either. It was too warm and the mons were repetitive and showed up in almost every one of the games, starting with the very first one. Ratata had taken off it's hat and was fanning itself, looking irritated, tongue lolling out and glaring at nothing in particular. Enzo felt he had to say something.

"Well, maybe we'll find her quickly. And if she's doing a dungeon crawl, she has to be in a cave or a building or something, right? That's something."

She fans herself with a hand, looking around. "Where were we going, anyway?"

"I think I have most of it, thanks to Louie and Flea..." Lauren had been enjoying the weather, and Ambassador Leafshade had likewise enjoyed the breeze through her fur. Still, Lauren frowned for a moment. "I guess Flea showed us that we can't really do any fighting on our own here, huh?"

"I'm sure you'll be fine just this once." Ambassador Leafshade answered, with a bit of an edge in her voice.

Lauren winced and whispered, "Sorry." The whole thing with Ambassador Leafshade being her and also not her was kind of...weird sometimes. I mean, the Ambassador seemed pretty okay with being a ferret, which Lauren had to admit was not something she would really expect of herself. So they weren't really the same person, but...they still thought mostly the same, and apparently not being directly involved in sparring or the fight to save Kid had bothered the Ambassador more than she had realized. Well, Lauren would just have to make sure to involve her in battles more from now on.

"Ummm..." she struggled to regain her train of thought, "Oh, right! So are these rattatas kind of the same thing as our mons, or are they just enemies for us to fight?"
