Who the hell's this guy think he is? Darren wondered over the link. Man's wearing purple silk in a damn warzone. He barked a laugh out loud. Anyways, next time we fight that thing, let's fill Silvie full of hot coals.

Enzo started as Yuri landed nearby, and started talking to the other kids. He waited, listening to the man talk back and forth with his siblings. So, He was offering them a flare drive, or it's contents, in exchange for the ice rose and/or the strange floating bullet. D-52 would definitely want to examine that bullet. The sculpture was questionable. For all they knew it was just a very pretty arrangement of ice. Unique for how it was made, but otherwise not special that they could tell. The Flare drive represented an unknown quantity, so it was hard to argue for or against. One quick way to fix that, then.

"What, if anything, is on that Flare Drive?"

Yuri begins flipping the flare drive between his fingers. "Oh, you know. this and that...Schematics, mostly."

Max is impressed with Yuri's entrance, and his... bravado, but the guy doesn't really come off as trustworthy.

"Pretty much everything that's ever been built had a schematic. Not to mention concepts that were never built for whatever reason. You mind being a bit more specific?"

I don't know what this guy's deal is, and regardless of what's on that flare drive, I'm not at all comfortable giving that time-and-space-defying bullet to some random pimp. The rose... I don't know, I'm not as concerned about it, but if this guy wants it, there must be some value to it.

Alexia glanced over at Darren, horrified by what he was suggesting.

I don't think putting hot coals in anyone is a good idea, Darren. she spoke through the com-link, a look of doubt on her face...

We shouldn't hand these things over... they're part of our investigation... maybe. she brushed out some frost from her hair and wrung her hands a bit, ...but maybe he has something on that flashdrive that's... that's useful to us.

Yuri continued to flip the drive between his fingers, bringing his other hand up to hold his hat against a partcicularly strong gust of wind. "I'm not interested in your time and space bullet. Such things don't interest me in the least. The rose is my prize."

He raised his hand, and flicked the drive towards Enzo. "Schematics for a couple of weapons, some model upgrades for most of your rudimentary bodies, a weapon I've affectionately named Götterdämmerung, and one extra little treat for you...That is, if you accept my trade."

Lauren pulled one of her pigtails in front of her with her right hand, and twisted it around her fingers.

Lauren sent to the others. Can anyone, like, sense anything about the drive or something?

"This isn't really fair, though," she said aloud, unwinding her hair from her hand. "I mean, we can all see the rose is there, but you could just be giving us an empty flare drive." She tossed her pigtail back over her shoulder. "And I've already got plenty of space to store my music."

Is it me, or did he just respond to something I said over the comlink? About the bullet?

Despite herself, Emily was intrigued. Although not, perhaps, for the reasons Yuri might expect. Here they were, something new under the sun, and he was offering them upgrades to their 'rudimentary' bodies? Seriously, who was this guy? Well, possibly a fraud, but somehow she didn't buy that idea. Much like she didn't buy the idea that he was just after the rose as something to add to his collection. Yuri was an enigma and, much like Thirteen, she suspected he'd respond to questions with riddles, if at all. The contents of that drive might tell them something more about him.

"You know, I think maybe we should take the deal," she said thoughtfully, "But" - she raised a finger - "I want to know what's so special about the rose first. It's only fair that we know what we're giving away."

Enzo caught the drive, failing to do so being fairly unlikely with the reflexes this body had. IT was practically an invitation to check the contents for himself... Which he was wary of doing. It could be a treasure trove of neat toys for their new bodies. It could be the digital equivalent of a hand grenade, waiting for him to pull the pin. In exchange for... a rose ice sculpture. He sent to everyone, Janet included.

Crunch time, guys. If he was going to tell us anything about the ice rose, I think he would have done it by now. Either option has it's own risks; missed oppourtunity, or potential trap. Unless command wants to get in on this, I say we put it to a quick vote. What do you say?

He's really weird. Not just the rose stuff, how come he has all this stuff for us too? Where'd he get it? And how's he know about us anyway, 'cause we're still secret, right? This is all really weird, I don't think we should do it.

If he's not willing to tell us about the rose, then it's not a fair deal, and we shouldn't take it, Emily sent decisively, suspecting that
Yuri could hear her. After all, he was offering information, which technically cost him nothing. And who was to say they couldn't figure out all this technical stuff on their own if they really wanted to?

Alexis shook her head with a frown.

I'm not sure we're going to need that rose... and I'm curious what's on the drive... she seemed reluctant to say, but then nodded, It's just a rose of ice though, I vote we trade it.

Enzo raised an eyebrow.

"You in a hurry to leave? Uhm, ok..."

Well, those who had spoken up were, by majority, against it. Hopefully they wouldn't regret this, but he wasn't going to ask for a vote and then just disregard it afterward. He tossed Yuri back the flaredrive.

"Thanks, but no thanks. Candy from strangers, you know how it is."

Yuri catches his drive out of the air, before smiling, tipping his hat. "Good kids. They've taught you well. Very well then, no deal."

He turns halfway, as a helecopter swoops down, turning on a floodlight and focusing it first on him, then one by one on the kids. His jacket billowing in the wind, he glances towards Enzo one last time, and flicks the flare drive again back at him. "We'll call it payment for a future job, then."

Yuri hops off of the APC, and seems to be gone entirely.

Choppers are on route now. ..That one that's on your location is not ours. I repeat, that is not a D-52 chopper. Radar pings it as the channel six news chopper. I repeat, news chopper on your location! Janet says hurriedly.

It was probably already too late to stop the media from getting anything, but Emily nevertheless ducked back into the APC, making for the drivers' seat. At the moment, it was just a matter of staying put and waiting for D-52's choppers to arrive. Hopefully before anybody started knocking on the door asking for interviews.

Well, looks like they got the drive anyway. Maybe Yuri wasn't such a bad fashion reject after all. Max is sure HQ will be very interested in finding out how exactly some big purple schiester came into possession of schematics relating to 'rudimentary' cutting-edge Deck technology, and how he even knew about the wunderkind project.

And then the media showed up. Figures. Max grabs the ice rose, since no one else seems to have thought to do so, and heads to the APC.

Hey, I've got kind of a stupid idea. You guys want me to get rid of the news chopper? I could probably go up there and hijack it. Like, wirelessly, not by punching the pilot. Might even be able to take out their eyes. And by that I mean the cameras not... you know what I mean.

Too obvious, Darren pointed out. Channel Six get a frickin' helicopter remote-hijacked, someone investigates. Let's just wedge ourselves all into the one car and maybe we won't get seen.

Alexis frowned, she'd voted for trading the rose... even though she'd argued against it. Why'd she done that?

Well, no time to dwell on it, she skipped after the others and got back into the APC as quickly as she could. The VIP would hopefully help him/herself to the destination, but right now they weren't that interested in getting caught on tape.

Well.

The others weren't. She felt a bit sorry for leaving, getting interviewed by TV-reporters would've been kind of cool.

Having caught the Flare Drive for a second time, Enzo had just long enough to look off put before the News chopper arrived. Well shit! He followed everyone's lead and jumped into the remaining good APC. Well, things certainly could have been worse.

Thanks for the heads up, Janet. ETA on our chopper's arrival?

True to her word, 45 seconds later, the children can hear another set of chopper blades, and a voice- Rivendare- Blasting on the megaphone. "This is D-52 business. Back down, and surrender your recordings to the Heart department immediately!"

The new chopper's blades are..Much higher than the News Choppers, which is now fading into the distance. The kids get the all clear from Janet, and have the opportunity to step out.

The chopper itself has landed on the highway, right near the ruined APC. A number of diamond soldiers have jumped out, and are working to secure the area. Rivendare himself steps out, and looks towards the kids and their APC, before gesturing towards the chopper. "This is yours, I'm pretty sure. Landing pad is behind the office. Don't scratch the paint, it's new."

The chopper itself is..Fairly large. Easily enough to fit the entire squad, with two specific pilot seats. It's black, but easy enough to see in the street lights. It doesn't appear to have any armaments, but it does sport the Project Bluesky logo on the side.

"Your pilots will be able to work together to keep it aloft pretty easily. It's pretty much state of the art, and has it's own database, kind of like the APCs did...We're not gonna use those anymore though. She punched through 'em too easily. Whatever. Oh, and when you get to the pad, the VIP Is waiting."

Rivendare then walks towards the ruined APC and begins barking orders, leaving the kids to their own devices.

Sam emerges from the APC once Janet says everything's safe, and his eyes fall on the chopper parked on the street. They widen, and he grins to Rivendare. "Wow! We get to keep it? We get our own helicopter? That's so awesome!" He runs to be the first to jump in, looking around the inside eagerly.

Silvie grinned wildly at the chopper, before she scrambled inside.

"The calvary arrives!" she exclaims, before she giggles a bit. It wasn't really all that funny, but ...well, after coming so close to dying and being wizarded and having the whole world finding out about them, everything was funny now.

"Are we ready?!"

Inside the chopper, it's quite comfortable looking! THere are two rows of seating, with each one having a jack for the connections in their necks to upload into the chopper's database. There's also a small TV in the front, with a gaming system of some sort...Darren could likely identify it.

Oh yeah. D52 basically runs the city. Why were they even worried about unwanted news exposure? Of course the bossman was going to step in and regulate. And give them a new helicopter? Seems like a strange reward for busting an APC. But Rivendare really didn't seem too broken up about it. Just what kind of budget does this project have, anyway?

Wait, wait wait. Why is Max being contemplative when he could be piloting a helicopter!?

Max hastily hands the ice rose sculpture to Alexis who just happens to be nearby, and beats feet for the chopper. It's been forever since he's been in one of these! And it's even got two seats, for two pilots!

"Emmy, you gotta get in here! This thing is SWEET!"

Enzo crawled out of the APC when the all clear sounded, and smiled as Rivendare went talked. His presence was definitely a comfort right now, if the mission had been essentially a success. IT had been kind of scary during the whole thing, and then Yuri was... weird. Not intimidating exactly, and yet he felt wrong too. Friendly or not. And then there was the mention of the helicopter. Enzo didn't need to be told twice, and scrambled on in with his brothers and sisters. This was going to be fun!

Emily didn't have much faith that the tapes would all be turned over. It was the media's job, after all, to uncover stuff, and even assuming the tapes were dealt with, well, now there'd be a few reporters mad to get at the Truth. Oh well, not her problem. Not when there was a neat chopper to check out.

Emily might not have danced into their new vehicle, but it would be difficult for anybody to miss her enthusiasm. She slotted herself into the spare seat, quickly familiarising herself with the layout. Sure, she could just control everything directly, and probably would, but it would never do to rely unreservedly on that ability. This was certainly a big step up from an APC, with more potential to go wrong, and she wasn't about to betray the trust she'd been shown by going and breaking it. That said...

"This is gonna be great!" she said enthusiastically.

And awesome it was. The trip back only takes about a minute, but the chopper turns out to be comfortable enough, even for a longer trip. Even in the wind, it's controls are intuitive and easy to manage, and the trip is enjoyable and safe.

From the sky, the city is even more impressive; they can see the night traffic of the people they're going to be protecting bustling about even with the late hour, and the pyramid HQ dwarfing the rest of the city.

They set the chopper down easily enough, and a single person approaches. As they file out of the chopper, she waves to them, standing a few feet away. She's wearing a black hoodie, and her brown hair hangs over her face a bit, under the hood. Interestingly, the hoodie bears the "O" insignia of the comic book character, Owl Man. Her pants- black, comfortable looking sweatpants- Bear the word "Stretch" down the side. She can't be much older than the Wunderkind themselves...If she's older at all.

"I hear you were my escort." She says, smiling. "Good job. I was hoping I'd get to meet you guys."

She turns, waving over her head. "I'm gonna request a tip for you guys, or somethin'. Awesome job with that zombie, too!"

With that, she begins walking away, entering in the back door of the pyramid.

Enzo started heading in, using whatever entrance was meant for them, to get back to their personal floor of the building.

Silvie hopped out of the helicopter and began to skip forward, but she stopped in her tracks as soon as she saw their VIP. Her eyes widened and she clasped her hands tight, as she let out the most high pitched, excitable squeal known to man.

"It-it's Ellastic!" She stifled a second girlish squeal, and stammered, "OmygoditsEllastic do you know how awesome she is she's only the best superhero ever because she's actually real and - wait if she's Ellastic then why does she even need us I mean she's Ellastic and ...hey!"

She was about to step forward, before she looked towards the other Wunderkin. "Uh...do we go after her, or...?"

Max is still in one of the two pilots' seats, shutting things down and letting the passengers get off first, when Sylvie's screen threatens to compromise his auditory systems. "Gah!" It's a good thing Max doesn't have eardrums. If he did, they'd surely have exploded.

"So... our VIP is a comic book character? What's up with that? I'm not sure that even makes sense. How common is it for comics to be written about actual people?"
