Alexis looks over the brick in her hand and blinks a few times, but once more her training takes precedence and she drops lightly to the ground, hunching up for a second to absorb the impact before she looks around to spot Enzo, the green marking indicating his presence soon visible... With a quick glance over her shoulder towards Max and Kid, she darts over to where Enzo and Janet is hiding, stone held tightly in her hands.

"H-here..." she hands him the ancient brick, "I-I don't k...know what happened, but I felt y-you should look at this..."

"Thank you, Alexis."

He smiles for her briefly, and then turns his eyes to the brick. He wanted to know what the hell was going on here, and had a good idea how to learn what it was. He attempted to interface with the brick, to learn more about it, and the Church's, code. He expected it to be fragmented, but since he was digitally 'holding' a piece of it, piecing it back together in his mind shouldn't be overly hard. Probably.

Enzo, with a piece of the building in hand, need only try to access the data before his much more advanced digital form can piece it quickly back together. The building was, in fact, a previous file on the same database. One that they thought was gone, completely. But clearly, fragments remained.

Enzo:
Spoiler:
The file previously found here concerns Project: Winterstorm- The creation of an undead solider with the ability to manipulate ice and cold. They had a working prototype some years ago, during the Imperial War. "They", however, are unidentified. He does have the specifics, though.

Project: Winterstorm
Subject: Lindsay Bailey
Project Date: February 6th, 3744
Objective; The creation of a soldier that can manipulate ice and cold; immunity granted through the use of necromancy to create an undead soldier.
Cell Letter: T

...And he finds some additional information. Project: Winterstorm was too powerful to be contained, and broke out.

That thing is somewhere in the world, and suddenly Enzo has the image of a deathly white woman with pale blue hair and icicles all over her face, wearing ancient, skull adorned armor and shouldering a sword larger than a Wunderkind...Giving him a dreadful rictus grin.

Emily couldn't bring herself to put the boot in. Taunting might have disabled Kid, but it didn't seem to be doing much good when it came to getting her to patch. Ideally, they'd track down the physical patch and apply that, but Emily didn't have the faintest idea where to begin. Perhaps there was something about the building that had drawn Kid here. That might be useful to know. With that in mind, she set out to explore the building.

Moving out from behind the bush, Sam heads a little closer to the building, watching Max try and get Kid to come with them. Watching silently, he waits to see what happens next, wondering if she'll agree or if they'll have to start the fighting again. Either way, he gets ready for what he might have to do, but for now, he's still unsure which path things will take.

Alexis nods, ears a little red out of embarrassment, but she steps back to Enzo's side, looking as the others converge on Kid. Despite the way she speak over the communication-line, it's obvious she's nervous, as she's tensing up, hands clenching and unclenching, her eyes darting back and forth as she tries to keep a good look on what's going on.

"I-if there's anything else I should... should do?" she asks Enzo and Janet nervously.

Enzo was more than a little shocked by what he'd just seen. He was too busy trying not to let the image of the creature staring... staring AT him? make him yelp while the others were still dealing with Kid to consider the ramifications of the rest of the information. He did what he could to calm down, and tried to focus on his surroundings. Alexis had asked him something. What had she said? He missed it, and now Silvie was talking.

Thirteen hadn't been answering them this whole time, and it was kind of important to him to see the situation with Kid done and over now. He tried to put an overlay of his face talking into Thirteen's vision.

Thirteen, hello? Hello? We need Kid's patch, I think. She's not doing it on her own. Hello?

I'm searching. Thirteen responds. Maybe you could give me a hand?

As she replies, Enzo feels...An odd weight coming through the connection with her, and smacking him clean in the head.

Since Kid didn't take his opening offer, and perhaps subconsciously thanks to Darren's comment, Max decides to clasp his hands behind his back. He's not sure why he was expecting it to be that easy to get Kid to go with them. Her resolve had been weakened, but not broken. It's actually good to know that the real Kid is still in there somewhere. Max was going to have to change his strategy a little.

Max paces around Kid, hands still behind his back. "You see, that's where you're wrong. I'm not trying to remind you of what you are, I'm trying to remind you of what you aren't; what you haven't been yet. You are not a human, and you are not an elf. You are both. You seem know your human side quite well, and yet you seem to have forgotten your elven side. Or did you ever really know it in the first place?" By this point, Max has circled around her about 75°, and he turned his head to look at her with a serious expression, but with a slightly softer edge than before. "That is what I would like to remind you of."

... where the Hell was this stuff coming from? Apparently there's a lot of overlap between "generically foreign action movie bad guy" and "hoity-toity elven douchebag."

Alexis frowned slightly as Enzo seemed to... space out. Was he seeing something she didn't? He certainly had a strange expression, and she turned to look in the same direction as he did before shaking his head slightly.

Well, now Max was over at Kid and... saying... stuff. This sure did seem like a convoluted way of trying to get Kid to patch herself, confusing and kind of... chaotic?

"E-Enzo? Are you a-alright?"

I bet I can get that rope in no time! Lauren sent over the channel.

She was kind of disappointed that she hadn't really needed to jump through a window, but things seemed to be going okay.

But I'm not sure a rope will hold her...we're a lot stronger than we used to be.

The faint nagging sensation that something would happen finally leapt the forefront of her mind, and her eyes widened at the new possibilities.

I don't know if she's going to listen to us, guys...but I think I might be able to help. She got to her feet and raced off back down the path.

Oh, yeah, pretend not to notice the ferret!

In the building, pink sparkles begin falling down from the sky, gathering on the floor in a paradoxically darkening pool of shadow. As the sparkles fall into the shadow, it gains size and mass, lengthening and taking form. In a few moments, a pitch black ferret stands before Kid, as the last of the sparkles vanish into its glittering pink eyes. It takes a few steps towards Kid, and bows its head in what might be reverence.

"Don't give up hope, my lady." Its voice is regal and graceful, like a fairy story princess. "I speak for the spirits of the forest, and we will never abandon you." The ferret raises her head and steps forward, lifting her eyes towards Kid's. "Your enemies hope to bind you and take you before a powerful sorceress, who they hope will force you to obey through her magic. But they have been deceived: though she disguises herself as one of them, she is a true friend of the forest. Her talisman will not enslave you, but will unlock the power within you if you cannot find it yourself. She will allow you to save yourself...and to save us all." She steps back and bows her head once more as she takes a position at Kid's side. "Go with them and do not be afraid. I will be with you. Creatures such as they cannot sense such as me."

Alexis, for her concern, was treated to the sight of Enzo... shrinking, the colors of his clothes, skin and hair becoming washed out. His shape became less defined, and he tucked into himself. He quickly became a small, softly glowing white sphere, floating in the air where he'd been standing a minute before.

I... I think I'm patching. But that's ok. I'm going to help Thirteen find Kid's patch. Leave me here, and I'll catch up with you once we're done."

Enzo set to work immediately, working to find Kid's patch while sparing a bit of attention for the comm-link between himself and the others, as well as monitoring Kid.

Enzo finds that, while patching, he's got a much deeper connection to all his brothers and sisters, enough that he can see their internal files...And bring them forward.

For those who haven't patched, he sees their patch files, ready and waiting to be executed. He need only access them.

Enzo spent a moment just reveling in the unbridled access he had. He knew everything about everyone right now.

Update on that. I have Kid's patch. I also have Patches for Janet, Emma, Max, Sam and Darren. Anyone who doesn't want to be patched, speak now. Unless someone has a very good reason why, I'm going to start patching Kid immediately.

He would wait for thirty seconds. If no one had a good objection, he would begin.

No objections here, Emily sent, Just make sure you get Kid started first. She wasn't entirely sure how she felt about the whole patching process, but if it was inevitable, she might as well go through it now.

Alexis took a step back as Enzo transformed before her eyes, but his words reassured her a little, and she tried to smile. It came off as fairly weak though, as she was still worried about this whole thing with Kid. Just... a whole bunch of stuff was happening right now... but she was glad Enzo could patch her up now.

Well, that's two really weird things happening in a row, conspiring to break Max's concentration. But if Enzo has access to Kid's patch, then the usefulness of the charade is over anyway.

Really? You've got everyone's patch? That's... convenient. Sure, I've got no reason not to get patched. All the cool kids are doing it. You should probably go ahead and get started on Kid, though, since her life is on the line, and all.

I'm ready for it! Sam turns around, looking back towards Enzo. Though eager to start, and curious what exactly it will feel like, he's still concerned for Kid, and speaks up to that respect. But yeah, help Kid first! She needs it most.

No one had spoken against it, so Enzo activated Kid's patch. When he was sure that it had worked and was proceeding normally, he would move on to the other kids in turn and activate their patches. In the back of his mind, a small voice pointed out that something seemed wrong about this... but he ignored it for now. Whatever was wrong about it couldn't overrule Kid's need for assistance.

Lauren darts through the forest, making her way towards the camp. Though as she runs, she notices...It's gotten dark rather quickly. ...Dark, and very unpleasant looking. Suddenly, there's an earth shattering rumble, as a few of the trees suddenly crack, and begin to fall in her direction. Though normally, she could just get out of the way, her feet feel stuck currently.

"Look out!"

Thirteen, however, intercepts her path, knocking Lauren out of the way of the falling foliage. "Stay down!" She shouts, as there's another crack, and the ground quakes. Above, the sky has turned a deep, angry red, and there seems to be the beginning of cloudburst.

----

In the ruins of the church, Kid nods to the ferret a couple of times. "The power..That's within me. The power...That's within me." She repeats...Before standing up, raising her arms to the skies...And exploding into a large green cloud in an explosion of leaves. "...I...I don't...Understand...What's happening..."

As she does...The remains of the church seem to liquefy under the force of a small earthquake. The children can see, in the clearing, that the skies are beginning to rain heavily, having turned a very angry color, and trees throughout the forest are cracking, and falling over. They should be safe in the clearing, though.

Alexis gave a small yelp as things seemed to be falling apart around them. First the church, then the forest! She staggered slightly with the earthquake, and big eyes looked left and right to see if everyone was okay. She couldn't see if Kid was okay inside the ruins, it'd all fallen apart, so she got up on shaking legs and ran towards it, her face pale as she wondered if the patching protected against falling rubble and stones.

"K-Kidritta!" she shouted as she tried to spot where the latest member of their team had stood, turning to look around at the remaining trees and what little still stood of the building, if any.

Wow. This is some freaky shit. Was this that "event" Thirteen had been anxious about? It certainly seemed like something worth being worried about. You know, if worrying accomplished anything. Max looked back at Kid... she seemed to be patching, which he had thought was supposed to be a good thing, but as soon as she started patching, all Hell broke loose. Maybe this had something to do with her toxin, and going crazy, and the patch trying to correct it all? Who even knows. Not a lot of time to think about it right now. The most important thing was making sure all of his friends were okay.

Max zooms up above where the church roof would have been, if there had still been still a church left, and surveyed the situation. Although things were pretty crazy, it looked like everyone should be safe in the clearing.

Except Lauren!

Hey, Lauren, do you read me? You okay over there?

I'm fine Lauren answered shakily. She lay where she had fallen, curled into a tight little ball Don't worry about me.

"Nothing can hurt you here," she whispered to herself as the forest fell apart around her. "It'll be okay"

Back in the clearing, the ferret was racing around in tight little circles, whimpering to itself.

Not good. Very not good. Whatever was going on, it certainly didn't resemble patching. It seemed almost as if some malevolent force were trying to tear apart the landscape. About all Emily could think to do was stay in the open where nothing was likely to fall on her and wait it out.

Standing firm, Sam stares at all the destruction going on in the unformatted landscape around them. He's nervous, even a little scared, but he doesn't show it, putting on a brave face for the sake of the other kids. He looks over to Silvie, and runs over, grabbing Darren's arm and tugging him along towards her. "We're right here, we're okay! But what's going on? What about you, are you okay Silvie? Remain calm. Thirteen sends back, responding to the uplink for the first time. Stay in the clear. We are more powerful than this, but you do not have access to that power yet. Someone is attempting to hack this database from the outside. They will not succeed. It will be over soon.

Well, at least he had gotten Kid started on her patch. He meant to set to work on the others next, but then the world around him began to shudder and shake. His brothers and sisters were in great distress, except for Kid. It didn't seem like a good time to be doing that. So, instead, Enzo listened, and looked out for falling objects, so he could yell out warning should one of them find they were about to get hit.

At the same time, he privately messaged Thirteen:

Are we able to track the hacker's comm-web address? It would be nice to know that we could send that off to Rivendare, and his people could arrest whoever's doing this out in the physical world.
