Seeing Alexis' reluctance, Enzo goes ahead and takes the lead. Getting to the locker quicker meant getting into the unformatted area quicker, after all. While they walked, he considered Max's statement.

"Eden seems a little... I dunno. It's... Hoighty? Hokey? I mean, not to be a jerk, sorry. It just seems like it's a little too much. Plus if we name it that we'll think about naked people whenever we go in. No. But maybe something like that... What About "The Garden" or something?"

He wondered if anyone would see what he was doing there. Then again, it was reaching a lot. So, they probably wouldn't. Oh well.

"I don't know..." Silvie said as she trailed behind them. "Eden...the Garden...it's all the same thing, isn't it? And I mean, they're both nice names and all, but...I don't know, I think this place deserves something a bit more wild - hey, how about the Wilderness? That's a great name!"

Lauren frowned at Darren's rant. He did kind of have a point...I'm sure Baron Rivendare wouldn't send us into danger...but the adults don't really know what's in here.

"You know, Darren, maybe you really should ask for your guns. I mean, I don't think there's anything that's going to bother us, but..." Lauren trailed off as an idea struck her. "You know, if we want to be really safe, we could set up camp near the door. And mark the door like when Robert was glowing all those colors so we can see it in the dark if we need to."

Mission: 02- Subhuman.
Deck City: The Database: Classroom.
June 15, 3756.
12:00

The kids, walking together, eventually home in on...A door. They all know it instantly as "The supply closet.". They become aware of the fact that it's not really a true closet full of supplies, more a cutesy name for a system set up for them to requisition the Database itself for things they'll need- They need only think about what they want when they open the door, and it'll be inside, ready to go.

Kid grabs her head, frowning at the sensation of suddenly gained information going directly into her mind. "Does that happen..Often?" She asks. Janet rests a hand on Kid's back, then looks over the others. "If we want a name, we should probably agree on something so half of us don't end up thinking it's completely ludicrous. Honestly, "The garden" is the same as "Eden", and everything else just sounds...Generic. It doesn't really click as being...Ours...You know? I mean...It's what Thirteen said, right? This is our world. What we call things should...Reflect that."

Alexis looked at Kid's reaction with a little smile on her face, that was probably going to take some getting used to... "...It happens from t-time to time... I think..." she said quietly... she could probably calculate an almost precise average time of occurence, but from time to time seemed about as good as any. "i-it's still kind of creepy..." she added, hoping that it would cheer Kid up that some of the others still weren't used to it.

At the sight of the door... the supply closet, she blinked a few times, looking at the others... "G-good thing we made a list?" She tried to keep out of the discussion about what to name the wild they were out in occasionally. She didn't much mind any of the names that had been offered up, but she didn't have much to come with either so she decided it was just best to stay out of the discussion.

Max was barely paying attention to the supply issue at all. They already had a list of the stuff they needed, and the whole name conundrum was much more interesting.

"So, it should be... like... homey, and nature-y, and it should reflect our new lives as Wunderkind, and it shouldn't be all... hoity-toity."

"I dunno, maybe Avalon? I seem to be really bad at coming up with names that aren't full of themselves."

"I like Silvie's idea! The Wilderness sounds cool. I guess it's not really very Wunderkindy though...um..." Sam sways back and forth from one foot to another as he thinks on the problem. He never realized how hard it could be to give something a name before! "I guess maybe...something about robots? Or computers? 's there anything about gardens 'n' forests 'n' stuff for those? I don't know any, but I don't know a lot of computer or robot words."

Silvie turned to Kid and said, "Don't worry, you'll get used to it. I mean, it's kinda weird at first, but after a while you don't even notice it."

Was that really true? Silvie hadn't really thought about it much until Kid brought it up; after all her training, it was simply something she took for granted. Would the same thing happen to Kid?

"Anyways," she continued, shoving those thoughts out of her head, "Why don't we wait until after the trip to pick a name? Maybe we'll see something cool, like...uh, Death Mountain or the Cyber Lake or something."

"I'm sure we'll come up with something eventually," Emily said, "No sense worrying about it." It was a little disappointing seeing her own name for the place fall by the wayside, but it had always just been a placeholder. In any case, time to get down to business. Emily set about extracting her own gear from the closet, making sure to add a pack to put it all in.

"Yeah, that makes sense. I'm sure after we've been out there for a couple days we'll have a better idea what to call it."

That issue put on the back burner for now, Max turns his attention to the supply closet. He requisitions a backpack, some rope, marshmallows, chocolate, lighter fluid, a compass, a waterproof flashlight, medium-sized cooking pot, a stainless steel thermos, a wand-style lighter, a couple kebab skewers (for kids who aren't keen on spearing their campfire snacks with sticks) and a dark blue sleeping bag.

"Man, this is so cool. It's like it's my birthday in here. Free stuff! I wonder what other stuff I can get out of here?" Max hogs the supply closet a little longer, and pulls out a soccer ball, a kit to build two soccer goals, and then, after thinking for a moment, he closes the door one last time, and opens it to pull out... nothing?

"Aww, man... no dirt-bike. Lame!"

"Yeah." Janet agrees, doing similar. "If you want to take all that stuff, you're going to have to carry it all."

Kid, meanwhile, chuckles nervously and begins to gravitate towards the back of the small crowd.

Alexis, again feeling that she doesn't really have much to contribute with, finds herself suddenly standing next to Kid, who seems to have taken to the back of the crowd as well. She gives the actress a little smile, balancing once more on the balls of her feet with her hands behind her back.

"They get really excited when we're doing missions..." she whispers to Kid, giggling a bit, "it's really cool how everyone's super-focused... I think Mr. Rivendare calls them missions because of that, even though we're not really doing anything..."

Alexis smile faded a little. She had to think about what Kid was asking her, but after a few seconds she nodded a bit, "Well... I like these missions too..." she mumbled, looking a bit embarrassed, "but I'm not very good at telling people what to do, or knowing what's going on, and stuff like that... so I just try to help out if I can."

After camping equipment, soccer gear, and failed dreams of dirtbikes were requisitioned from the supply closet, Darren strode up to it. "I'm Heavy Ranged. I should be able to pull out, like, a bazooka, right? Or a RPG? So if I ask it for a shotgun, that's easy. That's below what my job actually is, like gettin' a plastic kid's shovel when you could get a diggin' machine."

He squared himself to the door and lay a hand on the handle, thinking hard. "Gimme...a shotgun!" he exclaimed, throwing open the door.

Oh yikes Darren. A shotgun? Really? Well, it was worth saying, as Enzo looked over at what he was sure was going to be an empty closet.

"Rivendare specifically said no guns, and I'm pretty sure Shotguns count Darren... Maybe you could try for, like, a Snarf brand foam ball gun? You could shoot things with that. They just won't die afterward."

Enzo sincerely hoped that the third mission wouldn't involve their new found playground and guns; He wasn't sure that the data animals would breed, and if Darren spent all his time shooting them then there might not be any left after a while. That would be sad.

Darren pulls open the closet, and....There is a large, military issue shotgun waiting for him on the other side of the door.

However, just as he catches it in view, every one of the children suddenly has a mild headache, as they receive an error code in their digital minds-

"Error 505- 'Program Ammo.Shotgun.24.enabled' not found. The program may be corrupted, or simply not exist. Please contact system admin for details."

And with that, the ammo-less shotgun turns to black vapor, disappearing into the 'air'.

Kid, after grabbing her head again, returns her attention to Alexis. "But...You don't need to give orders."

"Ahh..." Headache. Fun. Max leans against the soccer goal kit, which is leaning against the wall. He shakes his head as the dull ache subsides shortly after it began.

"Man, Darren, you got issues."

Emily decided not to mention that the closet would probably disgorge hangliders or microlights if they asked nicely. You needed training to use them, and that wasn't really what Darren was griping about anyway. She doubted there could be a satisfactory answer to his question, so she addressed the first issue, "How many kids our age get to handle guns at all?" she asked, "They're not toys. I doubt any of us will ever be issued them unless we're on the firing range or out hunting bad guys." And a good thing too. Emily disapproved of gun nuts on general principle, and wasn't all that happy about having one on the team.

"You," Janet began, "Get to wait patiently like the rest of us. It's not like we've got any of our real abilities yet, either. And besides, this isn't a game! We're going to be...I don't know, but they're not giving you guns to play with! It's not like any one else has weapons right now, either. And it's nobody's fault that you were picked for a class that's main job is to blow things up."

She then approached the closet herself, pulling out a pack and a few other things, slinging it over her shoulders. "So, if we're about ready, we should probably go. There's probably a lot of stuff for us to find out there...And maybe we'll find Thirteen again."

Alexis flinched at the headache, but seemed to recover from it quickly, blinking a few times as she rubbed her temples. She hadn't been paying attention to the storage room, so she hadn't known what Darren had tried to do, so the whole thing made her a bit off-put and confused, what had just happened?

Seeing the argument getting on again, she just sighed and looked at Kid, smiling apologetically, "I-I didn't mean ordering people around... just... I'm not very g-good at giving advice, or knowing what to d-do..." she scratced the side of her arm a bit, somewhat nervous, but then headed up and took out her own backpack, putting it on carefully. "A-and I'm supposed to be the person who goes ahead and... uh... scout, and stuff, and..."

Kid nodded, listening. "I'm...Light combat, they said. I think I get what it means, now..." She pointed to her head. "Just...Another...You know. I just suddenly knew." She shook her head again, and grabbed her own pack after Alexis. "Is there someone who does your hair? I like the shade. It's, like..Halfway between mine."

Tagging along behind Enzo, Sam stays quiet as he watches the others use the closet, his mind reeling with possibilities. When Darren runs up, Sam frowns at his request, but before he can say anything the error hits them all. He grabs his head when Darren tries it out himself and they all suffer for it, glaring at him, but holds his tongue. He got a headache too, after all, so maybe he learned his lesson from it.

Now he looks over to Janet, nodding in agreement before his eyes go wide with worry; they're not supposed to talk about her in here! He thinks as fast as he can, and shakes his head quickly at her before speaking up. "...We'll find thirteen what again?"

Alexis smiled at the question, glad that Kid seemed to be... settling down a bit, and a slight blush crept up on her face at the compliment of her hair. "T-thanks..." she mumbled, slightly startled, "N-not really, I used... used to be blonde, but... I was in an accident, and now my hair's kind of... stuck like this... and my eyes." her eyes, indeed, were as red as usual. "I-I guess it's a bit weird..." she smiled, "But I think your hair is r-really neat."

Sam's good hearing made her blink suddenly and then gape a little before she caught herself, throwing Janet a worried look. She hoped the adults weren't listening in on everything they said.

"Well then, everybody got everything?" Emily asked, looking about to be sure. Not seeing any dissent, she nodded, "Let's go then," she said, making for the exit to the outside. She wasn't quite sure where to head once they got there, but one direction would probably be as good as another.

Mission: 02- Subhuman.
Deck City: The Database: Command Routes.
June 15, 3756.
1:00

The group heads for the Unformatted section of the Database, stepping through the large bulkhead door as they have any number of times at this point. As they step into the wilderness, they note that today seems particularly perfect; the sunshine reflects off the crystal lake, the flowers are particularly vivid in the field, even the forest seems pleasant today. There's a few clouds in the sky, providing some nice shade, and the path that lead them to Thirteen, that some have discovered leads to a beech, among other things, stretches out before them.

Kid looks around, astonished. "...This..We're not actually..in a computer, are we? This has got to be some sort of prank. Where's the camera?"

Janet steps forward, shielding her eyes from the sun with a hand, and takes a look around, as some may note the free-floating door on this end has disappeared. "Well...Three days, he said? We might as well find a good place to set up camp and start looking around, I guess."

Enzo looked back at where the door had been, and started a bit. It was gone. He went over to feel for it, to see if it just wasn't visible. Gone? Gone. Crap.

"Uhm. The door's gone."

Enzo was busily preparing to get all worried and bothered by this decision on Rivendare's part, when something strange happened. Everyone but kid turned Green. Well, no that wasn't quite right; They had green icons. Enzo belatedly recognized from his training that these were their status indicators. Kid didn't have one because her status was currently unknown. His abilities had just been activated. Well, that... That was great! Why now, though?

He put that question aside for later. For now, he was going to run a little test.

Can anyone hear me?

Though barely noticing the fact that the door's disappeared, as enraptured as he is by the amazing scenery that never gets tiresome, his eyes still go wide at the sound of another voice in his head. He whirls around to Enzo, staring. "Was that you? Wow, that was cool! So it really works now? Neat! What else can you do with it?"

Alexis didn't know much about stylists, or dying your hair, or just... not really much about anything when it came to beauty-care, but she nodded and smiled, hoping that Kid wouldn't take her lack of knowledge the wrong way. She really did like the black and white hair, thinking it made her look... kind of... dangerous, or 'fast', or something. She went with the others as they headed off to the wilderness, and she giggled at Kid's reaction to it. "I-it's all real... well, I mean, it's how it looks t-to us, it's unformatted data, and all the aduls just see... numbers... I guess?"

When Enzo declared that the door was gone, she blinked in surprise, but didn't find it entirely disturbing... the adults had said three days, so she guessed this was their way of showing that they were given completel privacy, or something. But when everyone lit up as green, she gave a little "Oh!" and looked around, flinching at Enzo's voice in her head. "I-I heard that!"

Everyone had apparently stopped, and Max took the opportunity to set the soccer goal kit down. He was stronger than he had been before, but with all the crap in his pack, and the sleeping bag attached to it, and this unwieldy box... well, it wasn't tiring, exactly, but a moment's rest was welcome. He stands the box up tall and rests his arm on top, as if the top of the box were the shoulders of a slightly taller friend.

He turns to Kid to address her concern. "Yeah, we were pretty shocked when we first got out here, too. Like, when we heard 'unformatted zone,' we weren't sure what to expect. I think most of us were expecting, like, a white void or something, but apparently the correct answer is 'wilderness.' I'm sure we can all agree - except maybe Darren - that it's better this way."

Just then, he hears Enzo's voice in his mind. "Enzo? Oh, hey, is your Intel business working? That's awesome! That means we can split up and we won't have to worry about keeping tabs on everyone."
