The Curse of the Shadow Walkers (freestyle RP signups)

Unread postby Nick Shogun » Wed Mar 24, 2004 6:14 pm

I wonder why more people don't do freestyle RPs. It would be better for me; I've never understood Philsys. This is a lighthearted RP I've been thinking about doing for a few weeks.

Anyhoo, it all begins with a group of bounty hunters, brigands, and whoevers hired by a wealthy duke in Baron to guard his daughter by a mysterious midnight predator.

But it becomes so much more... (dramatic suspense Image )

Char Stats-

Sex:

Short History:

I'm hoping for four people, but I can work with less or more. I just hope a few people take interest. I hope to start on April Fool's.

Edit: It will also be illustrated.

chat or forum rp?
Geria (can never spell this place right) or other locations or other world types?
if other world, can you provide the overview?

If it is Geria, near Doma, on forum, i think Michael Klaus's around to entertain the crowd...

I shall!! But its not my place too! HA HA

Well I ain't the GM so I can't say board or chat but I can guess - and so I will - cause I'm killing time:

If its illustrated my guess its a board RP - so he can post the pictures for all to see easily. This could be wrong of course and he could link 'em in a chat.

Also from the fact he says a wealthy duke in Baron will be hiring the people in the RP then my guess is it'll be Gerea based RP, unless of course he just so happened to choose an off world name of a place that was exactly the same as Baron in the Gerea world. But I doubt it.

Also: Baron isn't that close to Doma really, otherside of the landmass but there is some traffic between the two countries.

With that I whoosh off!

Whooosh. <p><div style="text-align:center">Image </div>

Choark's right; forum RP, set in Gaera.

Wow, Priam was right. The forum is dead.

Hm. Let me think about a character that would fit in.

Or I could add another char to the horde I already have. ^_^;;

Why not?

Unread postby The Duelist » Mon Mar 29, 2004 6:25 pm

Alright, I guess here comes my gunslinger.

Char Stats-

Name: Terrance "Trigger" McCoy

Race:Human

Sex: Male

Age: 23

Basic Visual Description: He is a man of about five feet, five inches in height. He has dark brown hair, which partially covers a piece of dark green cloth, which he has wrapped around his head (Rambo/Solid Snake/Action hero style) He is wearing a brown cloth poncho-like, which has obviously seen a lot of action, as there are several patches at various points on it that are not quite the same shade of brown as the original poncho-like outfit. It covers a battered leather breastplate underneath. There is a similarly battered set of padded elbow and knee guards. The armor is placed over dark green traveling clothes, that are tough, generic, and durable. He has several straps for bullets on various points under the poncho...as his only Visible *note: "Visible" * weapon is a revolver pistol with a six-shot barrel at his side on his right hip.

Personality: Laidback, relaxed, and doesn't like walking around without a few dozen weapons. He's a born mercenary, and he knows it. He lives to fight, and whether he wants to admit it or not, he couldn't think of any other life. Its not his style to sit around and wait for things to happen, but he knows the value of a good ambush. He gives no quarter, and asks for none, but he still has a modicum of mercy...especially since he has trouble taking female fighters seriously.

Skills: Firearms, Knife Fighting, Hand to hand combat, tactics, quick-draw artistry, knowledge of mechanical devices and their maintenance, combat-reloading, minor acrobatic feats.

Short History: Known as "Trigger" for his trademark shooting tricks, he was born somewhere near Doma...actual location unknown, and spent the first fourteen years of his life in an orphanage. Leaving afterwards, he ended up coming under the wing of a group of mercenaries. At about eighteen years of age, he left them to seek his own fortune. Trigger has a variety of stories as to how he got ahold of his revolver, and the derringers that are hidden on various points of his body, but the honest truth is that he spent a little time in Valth, and picked them up while he was there. He's seen a lot of job's, and only has one reported failure: Apparentelly, he was asked by some shadowy employers to kill a man by the name of Rick Dwyer. Shadowing Rick to the makeshift town he and others inhabited, he publically challenged him to a duel, and though accounts vary, lost spectacularly. He has since given up on that contract, and has travelled around Igala seeking work...

Name: Dovev Jermija
Race: Human
Sex: Male
Age: 52

Basic Visual Description: Broad-shouldered and still quite fit for his age, Dovev gives the impression of being a stern and serious old mon. His shoulder-long silver hair is usually kept in a tight pony-tail and his dark-green eyes hid under the wide-brimmed hat he wears most of the time (think something like the one Alucard wears in Hellsing). He wears a plain gray shirt and khaki-colored pants and a darkbrown coat over it, sometimes coupled with a gray cloak if the weather's harsh.

Finally, a pair of thin, metal-frame glasses rests on the bridge of his slightly crooked nose.

Personality: Although at first impression Dovev would seem to be a stern man, so is not really the case. Although he rarely speaks, Dovev's quite friendly and soft-spoken, almost whispering when he talks. He's got a calm demeanor and rarely if ever flies off-handle. He's got a fairly strong sense of duty, but he generally won't let that blind him if the situation should rise. He's a bit unexperienced with children or just immature people and have a hard time handling them.

Being a bounty hunter, Dovev is quite used to the grimness of death and battle, so he's no saint either and will generally do what it takes to get the job done, unless the act is too heinous.

Skills: Tracking, Underworld customs and general smarts, Whips, Survival, Farmkeeping

Short History: Dovev was born and raised in a small farming village close to the Doman Capital, but quite early left for the bigger city in hope to find a work that would pay off more and not involve shoveling around dirt. He found one, mainly as a handy-man for a local low-ranking criminal. Dovev worked for him for a while, but after a few assignments quit in distaste and took on a more honest line of work.

Around his early 30s, Dovev was approached by his old boss who wanted to put him on a loose contract for bounty hunting. Dovev could pick his bounties himself but once he'd begun them he had to finish. Not seeing any problem with this, he signed up and basically that's what he's been doing since then.

---

Not the most interresting hero, but he makes it up with having a CLOAK! :O Seriously though, I hope this is good enough. Some people who RPed with me before might think this guy is familiar, you aren't wrong.

But enough of that, I await the orders of the master. o.o <p>

Whoops.

Unread postby Nick Shogun » Tue Mar 30, 2004 12:34 pm

This is excellent! Two characters and three "maybes." I'm not doing too bad, am I?

Christian: It is a vague category, isn't it. I guess what I had in mind when I made it up was "what sorts of things does your character do well?" Maybe it's a certain type of fighting, or cooking, or speaking fifteen languages... whatever he does. It doesn't have to be extensive. The Duelist did a decent job on his.

Anyway, if anyone wants information on the adventurer I'm RPing, here's her stats:

***

Name: Meryle (Mer-lee) Goldskin
Race: Elf
Sex: Female
Age: 215

Basic Visual Description: Meryle stands 5’4, and weighs around 115 lbs. She has shoulder length golden-blonde hair and blue eyes. Around her head is a thin, blue silk band fixed with several small, round jewels. She wears a sleeveless, knee-length purple dress with a black belt around the midriff. On her shoulders are two large metal pads that connect to the black cape she wears. On her arms and legs are wrist and shin pads made of metal. She also wears black boots, with the pads on top of them.

Personality: Often lighthearted, Meryle is the one to usually break the awkward silence with a bad joke. In times of trouble, she will try to keep everyone on friendly terms (keep people from biting each other’s throats open). Also, she is a bit lazy, and can forget things if they aren’t repeated to her. However, she is a firm believer that life is based on chance, and one should go with the flow, because, “it’s not as though there’s some conspiracy against you.”

Skills: Sorcery (mostly basic spells, not too flashy), map reading, navigating, interpreting, writing, and speaking foreign languages.

Short History: Meryle was, for a time, a student at the prestigious Gunnir Academy, sent there by her parents to become a great elvish mage. However, due to her short attention span and forgetful nature, she was not altogether a success. Instead of returning home, to her military brother and her strict parents, she set out on her own as a professional adventuress, taking up odd jobs and teaching magic to herself (she is still learning).

***

As soon as Celeste, Sal, and wkz can make up their minds, I'll start a topic in the Main RP Forum.

Celeste of Elvenhame

Re: Whoops.

Unread postby Celeste of Elvenhame » Tue Mar 30, 2004 5:50 pm

Name: Sybil

Race: Human

Sex: Female

Basic Visual Descripion: Sybil is 5' 2", She has long black hair and violet eyes. She is very fair skinned and does not tan easily. She typically wears non descript clothing for the area she is in and little to no armor. She carries many daggers and knives hidden on her body. Sometimes she is seen with a thick staff which hides a bow and a couple of arrows within, very rarely does she openly carry weaponry of any sort.

Personality: Quiet and seemingly shy, yet seemingly friendly. Reserved, yet confident.

Skills: Knife throwing and fighting, archery, poisoning and poison making, assasination, picking pockets and locks, dsguise.

Short History:

Sybil grew up on the streets and was eventually taken into thieves' guild. From their she was sponsored into the assassin's guild, which is how she now makes most of her living aside from the occasional odd job which often acts as a cover. If asked she will tell the others she is a fighter or a rogue and will not casually reveal herself to anyone. Not even her employers know exactly what she looks like, she is known merely as 'The Raven.'

What a fun character. He fits this crowd so well...

I'm sure you already know that as freestyle, all that philsys stuff or whatever isn't necessary, but I'll take this as an oppertunity to remind everyone else.

Great, now we have four RPers! Duelist, Christian, Celeste, and wkz. I've only had the pleasure of RPing with the Duelist before, so this should be fun.

I'll make a thread this evening. Salsalys, if you want to join, make sure you introduce yourself at an appropriate time.

My apologies for neglecting to post to this thread for so long. ^^;; I'll hop in at an appropriate time, though only if you give the go-ahead. My character may not fit in. =/;

Name: Zakara
Race: Elemental (lightning sprite)
Sex: female

Description: A short, rather wiry woman with yellow, slightly luminous skin. Her hair is composed of short, spiky strands of orange, yellow, gold, and flashes of incandescent white, crackling with electricity, while her eyes are empty white, also glowing. Needless to say, she's not the best for nighttime maneuvers. She usually wears loose leggings of dark grey and a pale blue sleeveless shirt, often going barefoot as she has a tendency to zoom about on bolts of lightning instead.

Personality: Somewhat of a short attention span, and a bit fickle. Mostly lighthearted, though she does bear a wicked grudge. Anything she does is for fun, and fun alone, regarding most things as a game in which all the rules of fair play and honor must be respected. Zakara also has a tendency to forget that most people do not have her tolerance for electricity.

Skills: Strong emphasis on lightning magic (duh), though no other magic. She is literate, though not at a sophisticated level, and you do NOT want her to swim. Though fairly nimble with her hands, she is not skilled in lockpicking, embroidering, piano playing, or all those other fine arts.

Brief history: As loose friends with a few other elementals, including a succubus and wind spirit who became involved with humans, she's starting to become more fascinated with them herself, indulging her curiousity about them whenever playing in storms fails to amuse her.

Unless you are after the gunman. Free-for all Brawl!

Edit: Hmmm... that attack actually worked out in our favor much more than expected: You caused brainless-Burke to "Hulk-Smash" furniture, effectively causing him to miss-a-turn.
