WARNING: A GAME WITH ASCII GRAPHICS!! THE FAINT OF HEART SHOULD BEWARE!
HERE
It's an awesome Roguelike+Building Sim, in which you can either control a group of dwarves as they carve a fortress into the mountain, complete with feasting halls and irrigation systems, or play a single character that travels the land unearthing mysteries, looting treasures, and getting their head bit off by a lion. IT'S A FUN GAME!
It also spends about 20 minutes generating a world for all of these things to take place in. I had a dwarf outpost going that unfortunately got wiped out by snakemen and abandoned; I then went to visit it as an adventurer, one year later in in-game time. A lot of the items and stuff my dwarves had crafted were there, but so were the snakemen. It was awesome.
Furthermore, the game generates thousands of legends and myths, which populates the world with unique monsters and places. This is really cool, as an adventurer can find these monsters and stuff. But, legends can still be made by your actions. I had a swordsman wander into a cave and get his head bitten off by a crocodile. A legend was entered into the game's database, and the crocodile now has a name and a reputation. I hate you, Satinywhispers! All of my subsequent adventurers have journeyed to that same fateful cave to do battle with Satinywhispers, but none have returned.
So, this is two games in one. It's very awesome, and complex and 'deep'. It was also released last week, and has been updated many times. I imagine this game being more developed than most big-industry games within a year.
ANYWAYS, THIS THREAD IS FOR DISCUSSION AND PRAISE OF THE NEWEST ROGUELIKE ON THE MARKET!
