Dear Priam:
No.
Here, I am a woman. I guarantee you, it doesn't work like that. The only way to get people to want to protect you or avenge you is if: [1] they care about you (friends, family), or [2] they want something from you.
When I broke down crying in the airport I worked in (due to a miscommunication with my transportation), no one jumped to protect me or looked to avenge me--no one so much as talked to me, or
looked at me. For half an hour upwards to an hour.
When I was walking to a doctor's appointment in the rain, sans umbrella (I'd lost the one I'd previously owned) some guy ran up to me and started...well, hitting on me. Rather creepily. Because obviously, if a woman's walking in the rain, it must be because her man kicked her out--otherwise he'd have the decency to drive her to where she needed to go. So she wouldn't have to get wet, which is the worst thing in the world. This person was, obviously, very concerned about me, and sought to "protect" and "avenge" me by asking personal details about my dating life and wanting to fill in the void in my life.
There's two typical examples that stand out in my mind. The first is typical of my childhood and first half of my adult life. The latter, more for the latter half of my adult life. I'd chalk the differences up to age and geographical/cultural differences.
What you are describing isn't the typical woman's ability/advantage--you're describing manipulation, and it doesn't happen without a manipulative person. It's kinda creepy you equate womankind with manipulation, for that matter.
I've seen men get the "you're not a woman, so suck it up treatment"--but that doesn't necessarily mean women get told "well, you're a woman, so go ahead." If we did, do you think we'd accept something so blatantly sexist? Men get lame reasons why not to do something, women just get other reasons. <p>
