An inquiry for the England-spawned

Unread postby GC130A » Sat Feb 19, 2005 11:19 pm

Attn: All Brits

Geesi has been entertaining thoughts of studying abroad in summers in England. However, he knows nothing of the universities there!

Please help him to choose one by <strike>repeatedly mashing the A button</strike> making recommendations of which ones are best. Points will be awarded for atmosphere, food quality, student body, etc. and proximity to London, because it's an awfully neat place I'd like to visit. <3

Many thanks,
GC

Edit: Oh, and tuition. I guess that makes a difference, too.

The best London Universities are:

Imperial
King's College
The London School of Economics

Oxford, Cambridge, York, and Warwick are all good ones within a day trip distance. Durham, Nottingham and Exeter are just about day trippable, but it's one of those day trips where you leave at 6 am and don't get back until past midnight. <p>

York is only two hours away by train! We've got more pubs than days of the year! Every take away place (and low class eatery) serves chips, curry, and curried chips by default! The air isn't polluted! We have vikings! And Roman city walls! And ducks.

I always wanted an eyepatch!

And if by "exotic drinks" Zero means "a pint of wifebeater" then his expectations shall be fulfilled!

By 'exotic' I mean anything that could be placed on a scale that has paint thinner on one end and formaldehyde on the other.

I believe there's a drink like that available somewhere in York. You need to sign a waiver before you order, though.

Absinthe is the most hideous and vile concoction ever created by mankind. I mean...wow. <p>

FD got it in one.

Although the drink I talk of isn't absinthe. He just got the fact that it's nasty-ass in one go.

But if you drink Absinthe, Kylie Minogue will put on a green dress and dance for you! I saw it in a movie! <p>

Plus it tastes really nice.

Closest thing I can get to a strong drink these days I tell ya. When will they make even purer stuff? <p><div style="text-align:center"> </div>

I'm trying to mix Green Aftershock with Absinthe to see if it makes some even purer drink with a liquorish (spelling bad?) after taste.

So far all I've got is temporary blindness. Image <p><div style="text-align:center"> </div>

It should be noted that British absinthe is like American beer.

I think the good stuff comes from Central Europe. <p><span style="font-size:xx-small;">"It's in the air, in the headlines in the newspapers, in the blurry images on television. Cho: Wait....you're TRYING to obtain the alcoholic aftertaste? Isn't that a bit like trying to make sure you step on ALL the tacks scattered on the floor? <p><span style="font-size:xx-small;">"It's in the air, in the headlines in the newspapers, in the blurry images on television. I believe this is where Cho calls you a pathetic girly girl and laughs at your obvious lack manliness.

As for me, I'm with you. That aftertaste ain't no good.
