Okay..... how many other college students here have been frustrated by how little money they get through 'book buyback' programs and the like?

The reason they pay you so little is because they sell them on for far less than they cost brand new.

I think you get a quarter of the value of the book. And then you have to buy the used books for large amounts of money.

I'm having some degree of trouble. A couple of books aren't being used for next semester's classes, so I can't sell them back. I think I'll just sell them online.
I've gotten half-back on most of my books, however. <p>-------------------------

Our art history class decided to switch books right before I started taking it--AND it was a textbook that was actually used, every day--so I had to shell out $90 for a brand new book. The teacher helped the students out by getting a list of students who wanted to sell their books to next semester students, so they could cut out the middle man, so to speak.

I've tried to sell back textbooks and been told I'd get $2 for them. In those cases, I tended to donate them to libraries or somesuch, if I didn't want to keep them myself. <p>

I have every <s>text</s>book I've ever bought still. Being a packrat has excellent advantages in that you don't have to worry about not getting enough money for them. <p>

There's a used bookstore here next to campus that typically shells out more dough for our text books than the store. You might try that route. <p><div style="text-align:center">

My campus really pays me back well for my books. I guess Theatre type books are really popular up at SUNY Potsdam.

There's a Bonus Stage episode that talks about the contest of college bookstores to jack up the prices of books as much as possible. I really don't understand why the books cost so much.
