That's it, I quit.

Unread postby EKDS5k » Tue Oct 26, 2004 2:43 am

A few of you may be aware of this already, but I'm planning on leaving. On the 17th of November, I'm going to Vancouver for a week. Now, why is this in the discussion forum, you ask? And also you might ask why would I, who has previously spoken out against making posts for short absences, even bother with such a post? Finally, you might also ask what is that god-awful smell coming from the kitchen?

The third one you'll have to do some investigating on your own. Check the milk, and then check for any long-forgotten tupperware containers behind the milk, for a start.

The answer to the first two is because when I leave Vancouver, I'm not coming east, back to Edmonton, but going west (for 12 freaking hours), to the Land of the Rising Sun. For a year, or possibly more (maybe less, but only if things go horribly). I'm going on a Working Holiday Visa (an option not open to peoples of the US), which I'll apply for tomorrow morning.

I'm dropping basically everything I have going here (ie: not a lot), and heading to a place where I know maybe three entire sentences of the native language. Fuck I hope I know what I'm doing.

I'm due back soon, so it's only right that another goes to take my place.

If it helps, I have absolutely no plans to go to Japan, ever. <p>

Wow, that time already huh? Good luck Robert. <p><div style="text-align:center">

Dude, kickin' rad.

Good luck, man. I can't say that there's anything wrong with giving up scathing meiocrity to go off and commit yourself to something fantastically new and different. Stick with it, bro. You'll be glad you did.

I wish I had a Working Holiday Visa. That's some good shit.

Also, Dr. Doc, you already know my stance on this issue. Do your thing, and don't be in the building when Godzilla falls on it. Or some other wacky Japanese-film reference. *salute* <p><span style="font-size:xx-small;">"It's in the air, in the headlines in the newspapers, in the blurry images on television. I'm reasonably sure there are computers in Japan. And if you can find a computer, there's nothing to stop you from going to RPGWW! Except that the computer may or may not be all in Japanese, and it may or may not have an internet connection.

I think I will have much, much better things to do while I'm in Japan than visit here, given that my current level of participation is quite small anyway.

Also, Japanese computers have English keyboards, and display English on the screen.

Yeah, unlike american computers, which aren't cool enough to display japanese characters on their screens. =( <p>---------------

*slow claps*

Edit: Also, in defense of Rob, he has very little to do in Edmonton, and he comes to Rpgww very infrequently. In Japan, he'll have a helluva lot of things to do. Now, since we can estimate that his invested value in rpgww is quite minimal, considering how it takes up so little of his time when he has loads of time, we can determine that going here will be one of the first things to be chopped when he has tons of cool and interesting things to do.

Hmm...sorry Lloyd, it's not looking like I'll have a lot of free time in Vancouver, as I'll be spending most of it just outside the city, and hopefully going to Seattle at for a couple days.
