Gasoline!

Unread postby Archmage144 » Thu Jan 22, 2004 9:04 pm

So. I was struck with an odd bit of curiosity today, and I decided I wanted to take a survey to get an idea how well (or poor) off I am with regards to a certain issue. I figured, hey, RPGWW is diverse with respect to the geography of its members. Why not ask here?

Right now, in my area, gas prices are plateauing at about $1.69/gallon for standard, regular grade gasoline (87 octane). A gallon is 4.546 liters, so that's 0.37 cents a liter. That's about 0.21 British Pounds Sterling per liter or 0.50 cents Canadian.

I'm rather pissed off at having to pay $1.69/gallon. Whatever happened to the good old days of paying $1.30 or less? *weeps* Anyway, the question is...how bad off am I, really? What're gas prices like in your area? Even if you don't drive, I'm sure you look at a gas/petrol station now and then.

Around here (here being Central New York), last time I checked I THINK it was something close to $1.62/gallon. (Someone else around the same area will have to give the exact price for me.)

Just for comparison purposes, during the week and a half I was in Hawaii recently, the price for gasoline there was about $1.99/gallon.

I'll do conversions sometime later if requested.

Although I'm not sure of the exact values, I believe we have it worse off over here. I'll check tomorrow.

I think we have it better. It's about $1.57, and this is typically as high as it gets. In better times, it is about $1.30.
-----

Anywhere between 64 and 70-some cents a liter.

Good old days of 1.30 a gallon?

I remember a time where you didn't pay over double digits unless you were a fucktard. :(

Shaun has seen the beastly prices around here at $1.71/gallon. And it seems that there may be no end in sight. >:\

Har har, a buck fifty or so over here, more or less depending on which gas station you go to.

And it all comes from the refinery down the road a bit. We get the good stuff. :D

Image

In the UK it's about 80 pence per litre, which is currently about $1.44 a litre, so just be glad that you don't have to pay our prices.

Thanks to the second website Archy linked, I am now informed that 1 gallon = 4.546 liters. Thus, in England, a gallon cost $6.54 or sommat, assuming it does cost $1.44 a liter over here.

Didn't do the conversions, but I know prices here are something more like $1.56. And actually, higher prices in Europe don't strike me as being as difficult for Europeans as Americans, as Europe has the better developed mass transit system. Of course, residents of said continent are free to contradict (or smack/stab/maim) me if the so desire.

Things you learn from working at Burger King-

- "Bum Rush" refers to when the bar next door closes.
- A raw egg will explode if microwaved.
- The local Police Department considers 'Dire need of a Chocolate Shake' an emergency situation.
- Yes, the grease in the frier is hot.
- Always believe a manager when they tell you the grease is hot.
- Do not use your hand to see if the grease in the frier is hot.
- Do not curse in front of customers.

It's like 76 cents Canadian a litre around here.

...Which is, um, expensive.

It was like 36 two years ago.

The gas around here's about...1.60 or so, last I checked. Give or take.

However, if you want the good stuff that doesn't fuck up your car....

Cheapest here is about 1.30$ to 1.60$. We get lucky.

... Two years ago, though, it was almost two dollars at the cheapest. T'least it isn't anymore.

There is BP over by where BW lives that has an interesting offer going on.

On Saturday, they charge cheap-gas price for all grades. My dad always makes it a point to take advantage of that.

Banj needs to stop changing the title of reponses to just a period.

Also, despite the sale Pervy speaks of, gas is STILL $1.70 tonight. That sucks pretty hard.

Image
