GSA Slogans?

Unread postby SALSAlys » Fri Jan 16, 2004 12:13 pm

Thus, I come to you, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed (or sort of, as I lack a tail) to ask for deep, insightful slogans fooooor...

My highschool's Gay/Straight Alliance club! ^o^

I'm on poster design, and already have some images/slogan/comic thingies that we're thinking about running in the school newspaper or on banners around the school.

And now, I ask if any of you can contribute to this great and worthy project. =D

And because I know that some of you may be curious, I'll put some of what we already have, with my/the group's/ own comments on them in italics.

"Got Gay?"

Shea: ....that'd make a really weird milk carton.

"Got GSA?"

Shea: Eh, better.

"When did you decide you're hetero?"

Shea: Quite deep.
Me: But what if you're not hetero?

"I'm not gay, I'm bi— get it straight!"

Shea: *dies of laughter, then revives to add* Amusing. But not too helpful.

"Fags are cigarettes."

Me: I can make a cute little image for that very easily...
Megan: I love that. Short and memorable!

"Whether straight or gay, join the GSA today!"

Me: Too cutesy and rhymey.
Shea: I dunno, we could make a song out of it...

"*image of a rainbow yin-yang*"

Shea: ...it looks like a 69.

"Everyone should be able to marry whoever they love. *image of two guys in tuxedos*"

Shea: Really nice and sweet and all, but not super memorable.

And thus, I leave you all to come up with more.

The first thought that came into my mind was something along the lines of "Straight as a banana", which is amusing if slightly oblique. <p><span style="font-size:xx-small;">"It's in the air, in the headlines in the newspapers, in the blurry images on television. Huzzah!

Incidentally, that "Homosexuals are Gay" slogan was also suggested, but I forgot to write it up. Still: SHIZZAY!

I like Priam's. <p><center>Image

Yes, Priam's would be my suggestion. Or something like that. <p>

Hmn...my vote goes towards Homophobia is Gay. Although, Gus' and Priams suggestions are pretty good. <p>

I really like the "When did you decide that you're straight?" line. It throws the common belief that gay people choose to be gay right back int he faces of the hecklers.

Alternately, you could go with "Don't fear the queers!" but that sounds ... gay.

Lloyd is correct. <p><span style="font-size:xx-small;">"It's in the air, in the headlines in the newspapers, in the blurry images on television. It is a secret you have yet to grasp, although the first syllable has been spoken in a dream you cannot quite recall." --Unknown Armies</span></p>

Why is there a Gay/Straight Alliance in the first place? Are gay people not allowed in the rest of the clubs?

Also, "When did you decide you're hetero?" and "Straight as a banana" are my top two. <p>

Nono, it's the straight people couldn't get into the gay clubs, thus the problem. :{{{

I think the idea of these organizations is to promote awareness and tolerance and that sort of thing. Because a lot of humans are pretty dumb about the whole sexuality issue (which makes one wonder how much success these groups can have, because dumb people rarely listen, and think even less). <p><span style="font-size:xx-small;">"It's in the air, in the headlines in the newspapers, in the blurry images on television. By the same token, those same dumb people won't get "Straight as a bananna" which is my favorite.

Really, if the *dumb* people don't catch on to a GLBT slogan, so much the better for the shirt wearer, I think. <p><span style="font-size:xx-small;">"It's in the air, in the headlines in the newspapers, in the blurry images on television.
