Very little I have read has ever distressed (or frightened) me nearly so much. This is the kind of world you find depicted in Distopian literature--something I never would have imagined could actually be allowed to exist in our world as we know it. <p><div style="text-align:center"></div>
Any parents who subject their children to that kind of physical and emotional punishment just to turn them into silent, polite robots should die. Slowly.
And I thought children had rights too...I mean, they can't just be handcuffed, taken to Hell on Earth without a trial and get beaten if the guards feel like it. Or am I wrong?
Apparently, the US doesn't have as many human right laws for children as Europe does. If a European parent was to send off their kid to that place, they'd need governmental consent.
And the fact that a place like that is allowed to exist makes me sick.
Jak: I was under the impression these sorts of things were illegal under US laws. Then again, there must be a reason the compound exists off US soil. <p><div style="text-align:center"></div>
Edit : Sorry I am just to pissed at the moment to think clearly. To imagine that something like that could go on....and well there be so many advocates for it. From the sounds of it, the parents should be sent there and not the kids. <p><div style="text-align:center"> <br />"Now apparently just apathetic."</div></p>Edited by: [url=http://pub30.ezboard.com/brpgww60462.showUserPublicProfile?gid=kraken@rpgww60462>KraKeN</A] at: 7/4/03 8:11 pm
They mention why it's located in Jamaica for that reason. However, I was referring to how parents have the supreme authority over their children. As if they were no more than material possessions.
This has managed to sicken me to no end. I think I would have to kill anyone who would send their child to such a freakin evil place. I vote bomb them all to hell with cuddly pink fuzzy things. <p>
...you'll note that the parents are practically conditioned to think it's a perfectly nice place, where no harm whatsoever comes to their offspring. Don't blame them.
Also, the laws of the US would prevent parents from knowingly doing this to their kids., Really, the only ones truly at fault, in my eyes at least, are the people who are weak enough in morals to make their living there. <p>I AM A CHEF. MY MISSION IS TO COOK FOOD.
The regimen there looks like the kind of brainwashing that the military of both the US and its enemies have done in the Cold War. I thought that it was forbidden by the Geneva Convention, though.
On the bright side, now I know how it is done! <p>-----

equally odd. read the nice summary of the place. <p><div style="text-align:center"> Have you ever spent days and days and days making up flavors of icecream that no one's ever eaten before? Like chicken & telephone icecream.

Even though the Bay is mostly targeted towards teenagers, I can't help but be reminded of this Exploitation Now strip.... <p> <span style="font-size:xx-small;">
"Hear all Hear All! I dub this man The Angst Mysterious Bloke of the party! May he now and forever more been known as this! Ask not his past, for it is probably overly tragic and boring. Ask not his name for it is more mysterious not to know it! And ask not of his powers for it is hiding behind a hood cause he's too scared of what women will think of his ugly mug!"-Jenna Tymisonn, Where the Heart Is</span></p>
Jesus fucking christ. Im sorry, I really dont know what to say, im outraged. I'll post later when I dont want to bash things. <p>------------------

The great thing about that questionnaire is that anyone with a normal teen is going to answer yes to at least 15 of the questions. <p>Canada....TO THE RESCUE!</p>
2. Has your teen ever been suspended, expelled, truant, or had a drop in school grades?
6. Do you have difficulty getting your teen to do simple household chores or homework?
10 .Does your teen seem depressed/withdrawn?
11. Has your teen's appearance and/or personal hygiene changed?
21. Does your teen seem to lack self-esteem and self-worth?
24. Does your teen engage in activities you don't approve of?
26. Are you concerned about your child's well being and their future?
That's what we call growing up here in Canada. Were these people born old? And question 26 is the parents decision! If I was getting my PhD in Nueral Surgery with straight A's and a hundred thousand dollar government grant my mother would worry about my well being and future. It's what parents do.
My score on that questionaire is 19. I'm only slightly above high risk. Damn. <p><div style="text-align:center">Yeah with enough cheese we could blow up just about anything.-Tyler Durden (misquoted)</div></p>
Most of those are completely normal. I don't claim to be a teen yet, but I already got a 9. Drop in school grades? That's actually a reason to worry? These people really need to get a brain. The "questionarre" is just plain rediculous. <p>_________
I promise I don't bite... too hard
This is the saddest thing I've read in ages. <p><span style="font-size:xx-small;">-=- "Zoooooom...Zoooooom...CRASH! Enthusiasm counts. Never be afraid to try."
