Meanwhile, Klaus was facinated with the aura he had read from the water earlier. "Facinating... it seems all kinds of aura reading seems to be twisted somehow in this place... lemme note it down..."

As Klaus got pen on paper and scribbled without looking, he astrally looked at every possble item he could find from his vantage point: Fountains, Water, Lake, Houses, Doorways, Win, Molo, Sky, etc, etc, well, you get the idea....

As Klaus regards the various different places, he gets a deluge of twisting, swirling information that can't possibly be correct. None of it makes much sense, and some of it reads as stuff that can't be read astrally in the first place. After a couple minutes of Astral reading, the swirl of psychadelic information becomes unbearable- Klaus might end up giving himself a seizure if he keeps up the pace.

"Fuuuuuuu...." Molokidan began to lose patience with Michael, and picked up the waterskin that he had failed to catch, looking it over in his hands.

"Well, it isn't warm, at least." he said, and began guzzling down as much water as he could get into his mouth. (And of course spilling some down his chin.)

(Edit: Thanks wkz.)

(OOC: waitamin.... isn't that waterskin full in the first place?)

Even with the possible dangers the Astral images are presenting, Klaus still did not stop reading them. Nothing's going to stop the magic nut from seeing something magically-unique which he had never seen before...

Of course, 'wanting to' and 'being able to' are two very different things, and Klaus's knees soon gave way, dunking him right into Molo's fountain...

The monument that they make their way towards is more or less the side of a very large, very cube-shaped man. It has a lot of symbols on it as well as a few hollows that appear to connect to some bits of metal at the ends. These hollows look like they're supposed to accomodate something, though what it is has to be small and pyrimidal to make up for the tapering of the hollow towards the interior.

There are four of these hollows, one facing the forest, one facing the south, one facing whatever is to the east, and a last one (oddly enough) facing the sky, being on the top of the monolith.

The last side is perfectly smooth with no evidence of those symbols.

Taking a closer look at the symbols themselves, though, they do not appear to be carved or burned into the material of the monolith. They're there, as though they were painted on, but the texture of the rock doesn't change between the symbols and the blank spaces. The symbols don't glow, either. They're just a different color of gray than the monolith, and thus they can be made out.

Damian frowned slightly, slowly walking about the monument.

"Wonder what'd happen if we fit things inside," he said musingly. "Like a giant puzzle."

Still half-submerged in the waters of the fountain, and shaking all the water from his hair, Klaus heard Win's request. Climbing out, dripping all over the place, he replied "<font size=3>Of Course!</font> er... opps... <font size=3>Just be there in a moment!</font>"

Judging from the winding path Klaus took despite the lack of obstacles, Klaus had not exactly recovered from the attack of the auras just now...

The Temple to the Pushable Cube

In the grass in the surrounding area, there doesn't appear to be anything... literally, there doesn't appear to be anything at all. No errant rocks, no broken pieces of masonry, nothing. The ground is also perfectly flat in its various curves and arches, eliminating the possibility of easily finding something that has been buried. The thing seems perfectly content to be by itself in the middle of the otherwise unexciting grass.

"Okay!!" Molokidan, who had been following Michael, shouted, dashing back to the fountain.

"Hmmmm. . ." he looked the fountain. "I can't let the water mix with the water already in the skin....so I guess I have to drink it all!" he shouted, guzzling down the rest of the water supply without a second thought. "Alrighty then! Let's get this started!"

And with that, the sushijin lowered the waterskin into the fountain, watching the bubbles float up to the surface.

Fast Forward Through Time!

Unread postby The Great Nevareh » Thu Dec 30, 2004 11:00 pm

(FAST FORWARD THROUGH TIME!)
As Winfred is lifted up through the threshold, there is a floor for him to grab a hold of (albeit not very effectively due to its smoothness) and lift himself up the rest of the way.

The second floor of the building is very much like the first in that it has absolutely no furnishings or alterations in color. There's another skylight which leads outside, and looks straight up in the sky to see the high noon sun shining down. There's also a small metal plate on a raised dias directly under the skylight and facing straight up into the sky. The dias is otherwise undecorated. Maybe there's more stuff to be found on the roof?

----------------------------------------------------------

The "temple" that they saw from a distance still seems to be just that as they approach it. There are rows of columns forming a rectangle that hold up a large triangular-prismatoid roof, all of which are made of the same matte-gray material.

The floor of the temple is made of large tiles, also made of that matte-gray material, all laid out to form the floor. The interior is rather shadowy due to the position of the sun in the sky, but otherwise it's fairly easy to see due to the open-air nature of the structure.

There isn't anything like an altar anywhere inside of the temple, but there IS a rather odd-looking stream which flows out from... somewhere under the tiles along an etched groove and out to a large, clear pool that is on the other side of the temple.

This pool is very transparent, and it looks to be little more than a decorative receptacle for the water that appears at the source in the groove.

The entire scene is very flat- there is perhaps one foot of height between the water level of the pool and the floor level of the temple, and the water seems to fall almost that whole foot out of that groove and into the pool, making a serene splashing sound. The pool, which is outside of the temple, reflects the high sunlight across its perfectly still bottom. It's maybe a foor and a half deep.

As Michael shouted up to Winfred, Molokidan came bounding back, the waterskin in tow. "It's all filled up with the fountain water!" he shouted. "But I'm full so I don't need to drink anymore."

He tossed the waterskin at Michael's head. "Drink water so you don't get tired!!"

Klaus knew... or at least now he knows when the waterskin Molo threw smacked him full in the face, throwing him off his feet...

When Klaus lands on the floor, it's like landing on something that feels like paper maché and is as hard as concrete. It's somewhat unnerving.

Being busy as he was, Win didn't see what had happened down below. He could pop his head down through the hole in the ceiling, see if there was any problem with Michael, and shoot Molo a look that was both stern and grudgingly amused at the same time.

Damian made a small 'hmph' sound.

"Whatever or whoever built this place was a damn good engineer," he commented, before striding outside the temple once more. He intended to investigate the tower in the distance.

The tower is far enough away to warrant a bit of a hike. As he approaches it, its color slowly blends into an ebony out of the haze that it was.

It's not very tall considering that it's a tower, and yet the word "tower" best describes it. Despite being squat and fat, it's still taller than it is wide, and the building's purpose looks like it was closer to reaching higher rather than spreading further. It appears to have a staircase or a ramp or something that winds around the exterior of it towards the top, with no entrance visible from this distance or this side.

By contrast to the temple, it seems both vastly out of place and at the same time like it should be there, not unlike a port that was built into a city long after the city's construction had finished: Different designer, different material, but feels right at home all the same.

Where the temple was on a bit of a hill, the tower seems to be in a bit of a valley.

Damian slowly circled about the tower, trying to look for an entrance or any spots low enough so that, say, two people, one standing on the other's shoulders, could try to crawl on.

He didn't need to look hard- the ramp extends all the way to the ground on the further side from where he was. It's definitely a ramp and not stairs, and it gently slopes upwards around and around the tower.

Despite the fact that the ramp looks smooth and shiny, it isn't slippery in the slightest, and is in fact quite easy to walk on. Very good traction.

However, there doesn't seem to be an "entrance" with which to enter the tower. Nothing, not even windows, allows light to enter. Though it's not hard to get the feeling that the structure is solid.

After knocking on the tower with her fist, Chantelle said, "Maybe it's used to focus magic or something." And with that, she looked at it astrally.

The psychadelic rainbow that ensues to her attempt to view it in the immaterial yields the same result it had before in the forest- with wild psychadelic rainbows. These rainbows are no more or less intense than they were in the forest. So, if anything can be told from this, it's that the tower has no magical purpose.

That is, if anything can be told from the psychadelic seizure of color that bursts into any astral analysis of pretty much everything thus far.

Meanwhile, in another place, Klaus was surprised by the unique... texture? feel? hardness? of the floor. Of course, it took him quite some time to recover from the dazed "surprise", and a bit more to rub the sore spot on his head and the daze from his vision (while giving Molo the evil eye), but the moment he recovered, he began investigating the uniqueness of the floor with great interest.

"Hey Win!" he shouted into the air as he reached a wall and began to look at it, "What do you think these houses are made of? I can't seem to identify the stuff the floor is made of..."

Molokidan immediately jumped to the floor, attempting to pry some kind of piece from it. "This is too hard!!" he shouted. "What do you mean, take a sample from it!! How do you do that?!"

The Great Nevareh

Re: Molokidan

Unread postby The Great Nevareh » Thu Feb 03, 2005 11:24 pm

The biggest problem Molokidan would encounter in attempting to pry something from the floor has nothing to do with how hard the material is and everything to do with the fact that everything's solid. If they're going to take a sample, he'd have to knock a hunk out. None of it will come away on its own.

In the meantime, Winfred (on the second storey of the building) still has a few mysteries to explore. All he's done is stand over the hole he just crawled up through and shout down at his companions after a cursory look around. If he's not going to do any exploring up there, why did he make Klaus lift him up in the first place?

Molokidan vs. The Floor and Up the Ramp!

Unread postby The Great Nevareh » Fri Feb 04, 2005 7:03 pm

Molokidan's swipe is true, and he encounters practically no resistance as his arms swing around holding their burden (which is strangely light). Even though he didn't encounter any resistance from the floor, it is still strangely solid and not showing signs of any damage.

This is probably due to the fact that his chopsticks didn't do anything but be a suitable substitute for a knife and fork at the dinner table as he waved them. They're still nice and utensil-esque.

------------------------------

The ramp continues to wind around the structure, and it isn't very long before Damian and Chantelle make their way to the top.

The top of the tower is flat except for a single ramp that's straight and goes up and up into the air. It stops at an arbitrary point, apparently going nowhere. Due to the high placement of the sun in the sky, there are no cast shadows from anything.
Otherwise, the top of this structure is featureless, though very smooth and very spacious.
The way the ramp winds around, you can't hurt yourself very badly by falling off of the side, and everything (in retrospect) seems scaled for beings about Damian's and Chantelle's size.
