"I'm serious." said the captain calmly. "If you want there to be deaths on both sides, you can keep fighting. If you don't..."
The captain then looked the group over, not noticing the hidden Kraken.

Richard stood firm on his previous point. "I don't see why you're still trying. I'm giving you one last chance... leave now and you'll live. Stay and you'll die. You won't be able to get the others."

Anyone observing closely could see Richard chuckling slightly. He had let his darker side take control of his mind, seeing how it would probably be let out anyway if something were to happen. However, he had NOT let this same side take control of his body. It was still too soon for that.

Sarah still felt the sting of her wounds, but didn't hurt has badly as before. but to be sure she better keep her guard up against these people. Shameful that someone of her race needs to do such things, but there is no other choice.
She slide closer towards the back to give her wounds more time to recover.

The captain appeared about to say something else, then he paused.
"Who the hell are you?" he asked Richard. "Why are you fighting us?"

"You don't need to know who I am," Richard started. "But there are several reasons I'm against you. First, you and the rest of your troupe break down the door to a frequented establishment, therefore tainting your own image. Second, you're trying to arrest someone for something that, from what I seem to have heard, was likely justified. Self-defense -" at this point, Richard made an attempt to look toward Sarah, who had been the one to mention self-defense in the first place, for a moment before turning his attention back to the captain- "is not a crime. And third, you still haven't answered my question. Is there anything else that the bard has done wrong?"

Richard was calming down, but he still kept his guard up. He suspected something was up with these guards... were they evil, repressive, or under the command of someone that was either evil or repressive? 'Cause they didn't seem to Richard to be anything else.

Griff eyed the swords on the ground eagerly. He pulled out all his gold and looked around for the salesman. He found the sword he wanted.

(OoC: C_C, im going to let you describe it, because I have no idea what it would look like at all...go ahead and do it however you want to, Griff isnt too picky about swords ^_^)

Even the brave lose their nerve.

Kilra continued to back up towards the wall. She was badly hurt, and bleeding, having neither potions or bandages to save herself.

IM: "I...I have to get out of here! I'll die if she don't!"

Her gaze darted desperately around the tavern. The windows were to small, and she didn't notice any other exit in her panic. She only had one thing left, a small trick admittedly, but one that might work.

She closed her eyes, trying to find the strength she needed. With a brief burst of willpower, she directed a faery fire spell at the guard in the middle of the group, immediately readying herself to make an escape at the first sign of confusion.

(OOC: Sorry for the temporary loss of faith C_C. Wasn't feeling all that great over the past few days.)

Failed escape

Unread postby RPGWWer ChronoCatfish » Mon Jun 10, 2002 8:24 pm

The guards, dazed by the spell, were unable to react in time when Kilra sprinted past.
The captain, however, appeared to either have exceptionally good reflexes or fortune. Whichever it was, his punch sent Kilra into unconsciousness.
(Kilra takes 12 damage)

"Apart from slicing open a priest who merely tried to take him to his trial?" the captain then said, in response to Richard. "We COULD just kill the bard now, you know."

-------------------------

Griff picked up the longsword, and found it heavier than he was accustomed to.
"Good, isn't it?" the shopkeeper asked. "Hits your enemies a treat, though it's not as easy to parry."

Guards... getting dumber and dumber. Geez.

Unread postby Divinegon2130 » Mon Jun 10, 2002 8:47 pm

Richard took great offense at this statement from the captain; more offense, in fact, than any previous thing the captain had done. NOW they were pushing the limits of his tolerance. Richard didn't see any options left but to do something he was generally loath to do. "You guys are horribly repressive and sadistically evil. You will NOT get away with it. Don't even lay a finger on him."

Before the guards could even react, Richard's breathing started to become shallow and quick, as he kneeled down and put both of his hands on the ground, feeling intense pain as the other half of him started to control his body. He hoped that he wouldn't COMPLETELY lose it, since he was letting his body turn into what he had been holding back for some time now...

Come on... don't fail me...

(OOC: Yep. Richard's going into hybrid form. I assume that a Control check needs to be made.)

Sarah got back up and sighed with slight annoyance "Why do i always seems to find the place with everyone that has some deep down ability?"
Shrugging it off she stood back, holding her hand which still hurt like hell and just watch the people in the room.

Griff nodded at what the shopkeeper had told him...

"Feels great, although a little heavier then the ones I use now...Hopefully it will come in handy..."

Griff held out all the money he had in his pocket...

"Will this be enough?"

(OOC: It's kind of funny. The only PC in the tavern who's doing something is currently being controlled by me... Okay, maybe it's not that funny.)

(Richard gains 1 AC, 2 STA, and no AGI)

The captain, seeing the person in front of him change into a large raven, followed the standard procedure used by all guards in this situation. He chopped down with his longsword, dealing a crushing blow to Richard.

(Richard takes 33 damage.)

Enrik appeared to have been waiting for this. He charged forward and attacked the captain.

(Enrik does 14 damage to guard captain)

Richard, seeing that the captain was momentarily our of the defensive formation, attacked with his bite attack, but his effort was blocked by the captain's no-longer-flaming shield

(Don't have time for initiative order, will roll tomorrow.)

As Kilra lay on the ground, unconcious and oblivious to the events taking place, her subconcious made an effort to evaluate the situation she was in.

After a while, it came to a conclusion.

OOC:
Initiative order:
Captain
Enrik
Kraken
Guard C
Deeum and Guard D
Richard

The captain held aloft the medallion once more, casting forth a ray of fire. However, it fizzled when it hit Richard. The captain swore.
Enrik ran forward and attacked the third guard. However, his injuries were probably what caused the slash to miss.

(Next up, Kraken.)

Kraken again edged his crossbow bold of the edge of the window keeping in the shadows. He controled his breathing and sent a bolt straght towards the guard which Erik had attacked.

Richard, finding his effort blocked by a shield, pondered the condition of his beak - he wasn't sure if he had broken it or not. He moved it a little with his left wing, trying to feel for any pain, and assessed his situation. He had been hurt, though not horribly. He also realized his current good fortune, remembering that a bolt of fire had fizzled out on contact with him.

(OOC: Not really an action, just filler, as said. Also a bump.)

Richard cursed his earlier decision. He did not have the skill to use any magic, nor did he have his normal weapons. And it was surprising that the guards could deal out this kind of pain without using silver.

Then, seeing one of the guards get his balance thrown off, Richard saw his opening. He moved his focus away from the captain and toward this other guard.

(OOC: Trying to bite Guard D.)

Guard D, however, staggered to the side right before Richard managed to bite.

(OOC: D'you think you might have made your hybrid for a little weak? I mean, I suppose you can fly and all, but with your low AT, only having a chopping attack seems to make your raven form pretty useless in battle. Perhaps maybe a thrusting attack with his beak? And I DID make the die rolls for that, just so you know.)

Guard D then counter-slashed Richard. However, Richard had none of the luck of his opponent.

(Richard takes 19 damage)

The captain muttered an incantation, and his shield was surrounded with flame once again. Enrik slashed at Guard C once again.

(Guard C takes 15 damage)

(OOC: Dammit, I'm going to have to give out a TON of EXP for this...)

--------------------------

(And if I DID forget to do this, I'm a stupid-face.)

The shopkeeper quickly grabbed Griff's money.
"That should be enough right there." he said, handing Griff the sword.
"We should prob'ly be checkin' on how the others're doing." he said. "'s almost dark."
