"Oh, neat. I wonder who that was." Not that Sam doesn't have some idea, but out in public amongst the grown ups with Casey...

Silvie's eyes widened, and she asked, "What'd she look like? Besides the underpants."

Casey thinks. "Uh...She wore kinda a cape thing, like a white pancho...Uh, white tights, blue..y'know, stuff. Gloves and legs an'...whatever you call the unnerpants 'r whatever. Long whitish hair in a braid...Oh! Sh' wore an eyepatch." Casey grins, covering one eye. "Like some sorta techno-pirate!"

"Um...I dunno." Sam opens his com-link to the lot of them (including Casey). Are we supposed to talk about Thirteen out here? They might hear us or something, an' she's still a secret I think?

But yeah, Casey, we met her too I think. She's nice, but kinda weird.

"I think we're alright, so long as we're not talking about it right in front of people," Emily said, "I don't think they're spying on us. Keeping an eye on us sure, but not actively spying." Nevertheless, she refrained from saying more for a few moments, just in case someone chimed in with a dissenting opinion.

I agree with Emily, she said, this time sticking to the comm link. Besides...we need to trust Rivendaee more. I mean, I don't think we should tell him about Thirteen, he'd probably freak, or have to tell someone who would freak - ....but I mean, I don't think he's snooping on us, right guys?

Conversation was getting interesting up in here.

Well, honestly, there's not much to report. We don't know much about Thirteen other than that she's mysterious and has power over space and possibly time. She seems to be acting in the best interests of Wunder-kind, and it's good to know that she's looking out for naturals like Casey. But what would we even tell the brass? "Yeah, so, there's this mysterious caped Wunderkind girl in an eyepatch that's always teleporting into the database and telling us mystic stuff about the future of Wunderkind evolution and stuff. Should we trust her?" I don't see that going over well.

Max tugs in thought on a nonexistant goatee.

Then again, knowing D52, even with Thirteen's mystery mojo, it's possible they already know about her, and might even know some stuff we don't. I doubt it, but it might be good to "compare notes."

Honestly, I'd like to know who she is, so I can thank her. Casey responds over the link. I mean, look at me! I went from a homeless kid nobody cares about to sitting as your lead mechanic, decked out in my tights and wunderpants. It's GREAT. So I mean, why not ask if they know anything?

Well...Thirteen said we weren't supposed to. She didn't say why, but I dunno. I mean...Silvie and Max are kinda right that we should trust Mr. Rivendare, but we should trust Thirteen too, right?

But she's in the Database all the time if you just wanna thank her, we could bring you to meet her sometime. It's really neat in there anyway, and I bet you'd have a lot to talk with to Enzo, he does all kinda buildin' and stuff in there.

Thirteen's really nice, although she's a bit difficult to understand at times. Alexis agrees with the others.

Hey, do you guys think those juniorkind I found before were like Casey? I've been wondering about what they were doing there!

Max slumps a little.

Yeah, I guess she did ask us not to talk about her with the adults. I suppose, if we're her friends, we should probably honor that. Maybe we should ask her to explain a little why she doesn't want us to... although it probably wouldn't be any more useful than any time she's tried to explain anything else.

Addressing Casey: "Anyway, speaking of the database and Enzo and building stuff, I've actually been working on a mechanical project of my own in there. It's... moving pretty slow, 'cause I have to make all the raw materials from scratch and, well... I mean, I spent a lot of time in the family shop and all, so I know some stuff, but I'm not really as experienced as you when it comes to actually doing anything. So, you know... I'd be cool to, like, work together on it some time."

Casey grins. "Yeah, that's just th' sorta thing they brought me on for. Oh, while we're thinkin' bout it..."

Casey stands and walks over to her workbench nearby. Picking up a tablet, she pokes at it's touch screen for a second, before handing it to Max. "This is all th' stuff I can do with ya weapons, so far. Feel free t' ask if y' need somethin'."

Max scans the list, which only takes a couple seconds, and he creates a copy of it which he saves in his personal storage. "Sometimes it still weirds me out that I can do stuff like that."

He hands the list off to whoever happens to be closest, and probes Casey for some clarification. "There's some sweet stuff on there, and I'm definitely going to have to get in on some of that, but what exactly are 'smartgun features'? Is that like, some kind of aim-assist, or is it more like a safety mechanism?"

"Oh, that's th' cool stuff." Casey says. "It makes it so th' gun links t' yer head, into yer CPU, right? Wireless, duh. Anyway, gives you an infrared sight on it, a status updater so ya can fix it easier, if it's scoped you'll see it automatically in yer vision, kinda up in the corner like." Casey stands on her toes to indicate 'up in the corner'. "Oh, and it attaches itself to yer unique electronic signal, so only you can use it."

She shifts her weight, thinking. "I'm gonna put links in there later to explain what all that stuff is."

Whoa whoa whoa, that's not what I meant, she said. I know she told us not to tell the others, and I'm not gonna snitch on her - I just meant, we can talk about her without worrying about people snoopin' on us.

Oh yeah, probably, Silvie. But I mean, even if they aren't snooping on us, and you're probably right that they aren't, someone might overhear us, so we should be kinda careful maybe.

While Sam talks over the commlink, he looks over the list and passes it along to the next. "Neat! Can you make guns and stuff from scratch too?"

Alex looked over the long list of upgrades with wide eyes, then handed them to the next person and looked back at Casey.

"W...wow, y-you can do all this?" She wondered briefly if she could fit a scope on her finger... but then she had to keep herself from laughing, that would just look stupid.

"I-I've been t-thinking a-a-bout t-trying to... tuh-to... t-to..." she sighed and frowned a bit.

I've been trying to find some way to improve my climbing... like hooks in my fingers, maybe... do you think you might help me with that?

Alexis nodded with a slight frown. Well, she still had her ice magic... and... her fire magic... She shuddered a bit, thinking back to the three occasions since she'd gotten the chip that she'd tried to... well, just tried out the chip as it was intended to be used.

She was pretty sure she was making progress there, she hadn't started screaming or anything the last time... 'though she really couldn't bring herself to even think about fires coiling around her arm, or engulfing her hand, or...

Me and Enzo got some cool magical powers too she added after a few seconds, Enzo's another of our siblings, he's not here right now since he's playing ping-pong, but he's kind of our tech-specialist. I can control ice, and fire! she nodded in agreement with herself. 'though I can at most just make slushy mushy snow right now.

"Hey, you're getting better, Alexis. It wasn't that slushy last time!" Sam turns back and nods to Casey. "Um...I dunno what I want yet, but I'll be sure and tell you when I do, okay? It was really neat meeting you, Casey, but I'm gonna head back off now, I was gonna play Enzo later too. You can come back to the gym when you're done too, I bet some of us'll probably be there still."

"Well, hey, it was awesome meeting you, Casey. You should totally hang out when you're not working down here."

With a cheerful wave, Max heads back to see how ping-pong is going.

Mission: 9- Missing, no?
Location: Deck City- The Deck, Meeting Room.
August 2nd, 3756
10:15 AM.

It's another rainy morning in Deck City, as the Wunderkind are called for a mission. They're to meet in their meeting room at 10:30 AM to begin briefing. From the sound of it, though, this is going to be a fun mission.

Kid and Janet already sit at their seats at the long, highly polished wooden table. Kid's feet are up on the table as she lounges back in her big chair, as Janet bounces her knees nervously, playing with a strand of hair. Occasionally, loud cracks of thunder can be heard outside the building, and the particularly big ones rattle the windows...But hey, nothing to worry about in here, right?

Sam's the next one in, taking a seat next to Janet and waiting almost as anxiously as her - maybe even more. Though he glances to the window, he hardly even notices the storm. They're something you usually get used to quick in the Deck. "Hi Kid, Hi Janet! Did either of you hear what this was about? I hope we get to go somewhere for this! I mean, there's a bunch of fun stuff here, and I know we're supposed to stay secret and all, but it'd be nice if we weren't cooped up all the time."

Emily wasted little time in arriving for the briefing, plonking herself down in a seat, "Well, it'd have to be something pretty unusual or important to take us out very far," she said, sounding a bit regretful, "But who knows? There's always a chance."

Alexis was really pretty excited about going on a new mission so soon. She'd been hard at work trying to create something with any sort of consistency with her magic, and right now she was doing her best to try to make a ball of snow. It wasn't going quite as well as she hoped.

"So, do you guys think we'll be fighting someone... or doing another escort mission? My guardian didn't want to tell me what we were going to do, said it was a secret." she casually flung the snowball at the wall as she started to make another one, brushing her second hand through her pale-blue hair.

Max was at the windows, on the lookout for lightning. He hadn't really thought about it before, but this morning he was curious to see if his reaction time was fast enough to capture an image of it. Actually, Max isn't really sure if that's how lightning photography works... I mean, it's not like human photographers have superhuman reaction times. They probably mess with camera settings or something. Does he have "camera settings?"

That's a weird question.

"Well, I don't think they're going to give us anything too hardcore until we've seen more action, and they have a better idea what we're capable of."

Enzo wandered in next, looking a bit distracted. Largely because was genuinely distracted, looking out the windows, watching the storm. He loved them. The sounds they made, the flashes, the feel of the rain when he was out in it. It wasn't the same, being inside and seeing it, but all the same he watched, fascinated. After a moment, he realised that he had arrived at his destination. He turned to look at his siblings, somewhat disoriented.

"Oh, uhm. Hi guys."

He took a seat, and his eyes almost immediately went back to the window.

"I wonder if we're doing a publicity thing." Alexis tossed the second ball between her hands casually and then sent it flying to the wall, hitting almost exactly the same spot as before. "I mean, they're going to have to reveal us sooner or later, so who knows? 'sides, it might help detr... d... deter people from doing bad stuff." she cupped her hands and breathed into them, smiling as the fog turned into small crystals, dropping into her palm before melting.

Even though she didn't look cold, she was emitting a slight chill, and her breath came out in small puffs of steam.

"Nah, it's not PR." Kid says. "They probably wouldn't pull us all out for that. Probably, like...Silvie, Enzo, and Sam, I'd bet. Yeah, I think I know where we're going, BUT I'm not saying a word till everyone's here. I don't want to ruin the surprise."
