Max puts a reassuring hand on Byrd's shoulder, and hopes he isn't about to lose it.

"Hey now, don't let it get you down. Strength isn't the only important thing, but it's still important. You may actually be the strongest, but we need to work together, you know? Once we figure out where to hit 'em to make it really hurt, we need people to do the hittin', right?"

"Max is right!" she chirped. "I mean, look at me, I'm strong enough to lift a tank! ...but that doesn't mean much if Max and Emily and everybody else aren't there to, uh, tell me where to put the tank."

The metaphor made a lot more sense in her head...

Darren crossed his arms sullenly. "You'll all see. I got 'leader' written all over me. You just wait for me to prove it." Of course, he'd pretty much tuned out everybody by this point.

Lauren shrugged. "Well, since everything is settled...how about we all get back to the movies? I was really looking forward to them."

Sam nods, and turns to Byrd; now's the best time to start bringing her into the fold, after all. "Um...you wanna watch some movies with us? They're supposed to be really scary an' stuff, I bet it'll be a lotta fun."

Alexis nodded enthusiastically and let her two chips slip out, turning back into regular ol' Alexis with the same kind of sound that a television-set might make if it's old and you just turned it off.

"Y-yeah, I b-bet you'll l-l-like it too, Byrd." She smiles brightly, "Th-there are p-probably werew-w-w-w-wolves in it too!"

The children, and Byrd, agree to return to the theater and enjoy the rest of the morning. Whether or not anyone actually makes it through the first movie before they're switched to more child friendly fare is questionable, but at least they got to see Kid's first role ever- Zombie Child #2 in Day of the Deceased. Janet even points out a single frame where, if you look carefully, you can see one of her ears not pinned back and covered by her hair.

Byrd seems relatively easy to control, acting more like an intelligent, if not confused, beast than a monster. She ends up falling asleep on the floor of the theater, occasionally twitching and snarling at nothing, then relaxing again.

All in all, a good night for the Wunderkind; having made a new friend and powerful ally, and nobody even got mauled!

Mission End Time: 1:10 AM, July 28, 3756

Mission: 07- Fitting In.
Deck City: D-52 HQ.
July 30, 3756.
13:30

It's been three days since the children's encounter with Byrd, and as of this morning, their assignment for the day is to spend the day in the real world, continuing adjusting to their android bodies.

They have the run of their floor, with strict instructions not to leave it under any circumstances, unless Rivendare directly orders it. Their staff, the caretakers, programmers, and techs, are still around, as are the lunch crew who are just setting up for today's meal. However, the elevator is oddly guarded by four armed Diamond Suit soldiers.

Oddly, Kid's body is still delayed, even though Juliet's is complete. For now, Juliet can be seen on one of the Wunderkind level's balconies over looking the city. Rain continues to pour down, but it's not a horrible problem for her. On Byrd's end, the programmers have found an odd problem with Juliet's coding, but don't seem to know about Byrd...Unless someone told them.

Janet is on the floor's library, reading a pair of books and using the computer at the same time...She's just that good.

Sam wanders down the hall after a nice meeting with Anka. Eager to explore this floor, he wanders around, looking from room to room to see what all might be here on this floor; there's a library, and that's kinda neat, but not really something Sam's that interested in right now. He waves to Janet, and continues on!

Eventually, he comes to the balcony, seeing Juliet standing there in the rain for some reason. Giving her an odd look, he comes a bit closer. "Um...hi. Isn't that cold an' stuff?"

"I don't know if you remember?" Juliet says with more than a little snoot, "But we're robots. I can just tell my system to ignore cold for the time being. What do you want?"

Alexis had spent most of the day with her caretaker, Dr Sarah, and seemed to actually be in a rather good mood when she came strolling, the woman having left for lunch. Unbeknown to the others, Alexis was working hard not only on programming, but together with Dr Sarah she was trying to deal with her stutter, and her fears. She was making improvements, as Dr Sarah said, which was why she was in a particularly good mood when she came strolling, spotting Juliet and Sam and walking over to them.

"H-hi guys, why are y-you two out here in t-t-the rain?"

"Oh, great." Juliet mumbles, "here comes another one."

She spoke up, turning back to the city below. "Did it occur to you that maybe I wasn't saying anything because I don't want to talk to any of you?"

"Well, how come?" Sam's frown deepens; they need to stop Juliet from being such a jerk before a mission comes, after all. Especially with how important she might be. "We're all family now, so we needa get along at least."

Alexis' smile didn't much wane as Juliet uttered her exasperation, but merely got a little strained.

Enzo had been messing with his personal computer. He was trying to rig up a virtual drum set in such a way that it would work in the database or on a physical electronic drum set, and the engine would generate drum beats for a player to drum to based on an analysis of music files fed into it. He wasn't anywhere near done with it, but he was making some encouraging progress. He looked up at Juliet, Sam and Alexis' conversation so far. He didn't say anyhting yet, but he intended to get Lauren's attention if Juliet started being an unreasonable bitch again. Silvie has been awesome for that so far, too, but it seemed like he had been bugging Silvie a lot lately for that sort of thing.

"You're freaks." Juliet says simply. "In a different way than I am. You're all way into this whole...Robots, living data, underpants on the outside thing. I'm just a werewolf they tried to preemptively kill."

"...Yeah, well..." Sam fumbles a bit for what to say, completely befuddled about why she's acting the way she is. "...Well...you're still a Wunderkind now, an' you can't keep apart from us forever. You just needa get used to all this is all. We're not freaks, we're just different is all, but we're still the same as you pretty much, you're still part of our family. So...um...just...when you get used to stuff, maybe you'll feel better. An' you won't feel like a freak anymore too." Maybe that's it, maybe she's just still upset about the change, like Kid was! But Kid felt better about things, and so Juliet will too. (Of course, Kid was never such a jerk...)

Juliet snaps, leaning in close and looming over Sam a little with her advanced, older child height and whispers through clenched, oddly pointy teeth. "Listen here, runt, I am not and never will be in your family, got it? You are not even on the same level as I am, and you would do well to remember that."

She leaned back, teeth and eyes returning to normal, and turns back to the city and the rain.

Starting a bit at her small change, any surprised he felt is soon replaced by annoyance and anger. As she leans back away, he gives her a small 'I'm going away now' shove. "Fine, if you wanna be dumb, be dumb. An' I'm not a runt."

He turns to head off, adding in a mutter just barely loud enough for her and Alexis to hear, "I like Byrd better anyways."

As Sam turns, he hears a low growling, before he's knocked forward off his feet.

His status indicates that he has a Wunderkind on his back, pinning him down. Whoever it is, they're also growling in his ear!

Enzo marked Juliet as a threat and updated all the other Wunderkind's huds, forcing their attention to her on Sam's back. At the same time, he alerted every handler and operator on the floor electronically, as well as sending a message directly to Rivendare's PDA with a brief description of what had just happened. He didn't hide either transmission from Juliet. He tried to look angry, but his limbs were shaking pretty badly as he spoke.

"G-get off uh-of S-sam. Now!"

Alexis' smile finally vanished in a frustrated frown as Juliet proved exactly as unreasonable as before. But when she attacked Sam, she flinched, only for a second, before throwing herself onto Juliet, or Byrd, or whoever it was, trying to wrestle the wunderkind off of Sam. She didn't even say anything, just a angry grunt as she tried to get the girl off her brother.

Shoved to the ground, Sam struggles underneath Juliet, doing his best to get out of this hold. "Hey! Get offa me!" Flailing about, he tries to flip over and pull her with him. "What's the matter with you, get off!"

After checking in with Dom, Max was at the other end of the building, marking up the floor with his new bike. He was swapping messages with Kid, getting riding tips, when Enzo's alert came in. He immediately turned his bike around and fired his boosters, racing across the floor.

Max's original plan was to jump off the bike, fly out there and lift Juliet off Sam, but Alexis being on top of the dogpile throws a wrench into that plan. He cuts off the main boosters mounted on his back, sticks his legs out and uses use his foot boosters as breaks. It's a little inelegant, but he wasn't originally planning to stop.

Pulling up next to the door to the balcony, Max shouts "What the Hell is going on out there?" as he kick-stands it and dismounts his bike.

So, Veronica? Coolest handler role model person ever. Silvie came out of their meeting with a spring in her step and a big goofy smile on her face-

Which vanished as soon as she saw Juliet on top of Sam. (Or was it Byrde? She wasn't entirely sure - could they shapeshift in their android bodies?) She dashed over immediately, and shouted and incoherent garbled battle cry as she tried to tackle her off.

A few of the security guards gathered around the dogpile, although it seemed more like they were watching than set on intervening. There's rapid communication over the walkies, and nobody seems particularly alarmed.

"Alright, knock it off!" Rivendare shouts as he comes up the hall, flanked by another one of the Aces- Anka, the woman the children saw before, and a pair of D-52 Security. Close behind them is an elderly man with a long white beard and a stern look on his face. After a few minutes, with some assistance from his men, Rivendare gets the kids involved sorted and lined up, and Juliet is escorted away with the elderly man.

Rivendare looks at them all, although he doesn't look as mad or as disappointed as some might expect. "I expect this crap from Vulgar's division, but you're all kids. Good kids, at that. But look- I know she's new, and I know she's..." Rivendare makes a face, searching for the right words. "...Well, she's kind of a little bitch, but you can't antagonize her. Just leave her alone if she's getting upset." He stops, leaning back onto his fists to crack his back, while Anka picks up where he left off. "She's got a problem with her anger." She says. "It's not her fault, and she can't control it, so you need to be careful until we can help her, okay?"

Rivendare continues getting his joints in order, giving his shoulder a quick rotation. "Look, your job all day is just sit up here and be good. We've got a really, REALLY big meeting that we need to attend, so we need you guys to be on your best behavior...Hey, wait a minute." Rivendare frowns, doing a quick head count. "...Where the heck is the rest of you?"

"But we weren't antagonizing her!" she shot back. "We were just minding our own business, and pow! She tackled Sam! You know Sam wouldn't do anything to her!"

Well, she might've, or Darren or Max or anybody else. But not Sam. He actually tried to be nice to her.

"An' I was tryin' to be nice and talk to her and stuff, but she kept being mean, and then it's like Silvie said, she jumped on me. An' I was trying to leave and everything!" He seems more irritated at what happened than anything. Plus he didn't say anything all that bad, he doesn't need to say anything about it...and he doesn't know yet if he's supposed to tell them about Byrd or not too.

"T-t-tha-that's not fuh-fair!" she looked really upset, "S-s-she said w-we-we're f-freaks and muh-monsters, and S-sam just t-tried to be n-nice! I-it's n-no-not his fault s-she-she-she..." she got all red in her fade and looked between Sam, Rivendare and Anka, and back. "W-wh-why's he g-getting p-p-punished?"

Emily had taken her time responding. She'd been a fair distance from the altercation to begin with, making some casual laps of the floor on her bike but refraining from any races or stunts with other people around. She wasn't exactly happy with the scuffle, but it seemed to be just that, rather than a full-blown threat as Enzo had tagged it, and everybody piling in on top was only going to make things worse.

She did make her way over, but took it fairly easy, arriving on the scene, as it turned out, after things had been resolved, though not necessarily to everyone's satisfaction.

Lauren was also a late arrival. She had been quite a ways away in the complex, and though her XLR8 system could have brought her there quickly, after she had nearly plowed into one of the technicians earlier, she had realized that "no running in the halls" was a rule that actually made a lot of sense when it was applied to massive robots moving at 80 miles an hour

"They have a point." Rivendare says to Anka. "If anyone should be punished, it's Alexis and Sylvie for jumping in on that dogpile."

Anka frowns, shooting Rivendare a look, causing him to shrug. "What? Well, what do you guys think about that?"

Sam quickly shakes his head; they didn't do anything wrong either, that'd be even more unfair. "Nuh uh, they were just tryin' to help. It's okay, I'll clean the stuff with Juliet." He's not exactly happy about that result still, but it's better than getting Alexis and Silvie punished instead.

Alexis' lips pursed resolutely as Rivendare discussed punishment. She wasn't going to object to that, if he wanted to punish her for trying to help her friend, he obviously was in the wrong... but fighting it anymore would be useless.

"I-I d-don't care. I-it's not like you l-listen to us a-anyway."

Max was glad to have a consensus with Rivendare regarding Juliet's personality, but he definitely didn't like the punishment situation. He especially didn't like the idea of threatening punishment for Alexis and Sylvie to get Sam to comply with his own punishment.

Max puts disapproving hands on his hips like he's channeling his twin sister. "Okay, seriously, this is just stupid. Yeah, I get it; when Juliet wants to be left alone we should probably leave her alone. No means no, and all that. But do you really want to punish Sam for trying to include her? Is that the message you want to send? And Alexis and Sylvie were responding to a threat marked by Enzo. Are you going to punish them for having Sam's back?" He looks at his sisters with a slight hint of confusion. "I mean... I don't know how the dogpile was supposed to help, exactly, but the point is they were trying to help. When one of us is in trouble, we gotta help, right? We all showed up 'cause we wanted to protect Sam."

Looking around, Max notices that someone is still missing. "... Except Darren, I guess."

Anka raises a finger with authority, taking a stern yet somehow motherly tone. "You are not, ARE NOT to turn your backs on one another and label each other as enemies. More, Samuel, we are monitoring Juliet closely, and we know what you said to provoke her."

Rivendare crosses his arms, leaning against the back of a chair. "We're trying to get you to act like a family. We understand that you were trying to protect Sam, but Sam shouldn't have forced the issue with her, let alone said that "We like you better when you're a senseless animal.'"
