Enzo looked her over, at her code, before answering back to everyone not Byrd.

It's still Juliet, in a manner of speaking. Juliet is saved inside, and this is sort of an altered copy of her code. She's a different class, but this could be an altered clone with it's own personality, as data goes. I... I don't have any bright ideas just yet. Do you?

He paused, not liking what he was about to say.

I don't know if we can be hurt. Maybe?

Byrd raises a brow at the two Wunderkind taking defensive positions before her. "Really?" She asks. "Are you seriously trying to stop me? I've got the mark of Garou. I'm way stronger than the rest of you, even put together."

She stands calmly, waiting for some response.

For now, Sam stays back behind Silvie and Kid; if she's really that strong, then for now he wouldn't be much help in front.

...Oh. Um...then any weapons we've got that won't kill her I think maybe you should unlock, Enzo.

"Tch!"

Silvie looked unimpressed - okay, that was a lie. If she was as strong as she said, they were all screwed. But she tried to look unimpressed. That was the important part.

"You can't scare us by talking tough like that - you just sound like some sort of dumb video game character! C'mon, show us what you've got!"

Run, she said to the others. Run now - we'll hold her back, just think of something to stop her!

This is getting intense. They really ought to avoid a conflict if possible, but he's at least glad that Kid and Sylvie are prepared for one.

Max holds up an index finger. "Wait, actually, before you show us what you've got, Byrd, I've got a couple questions if you don't mind. First... You're like, a real-world were--" Max looks over her feral features again, but really doesn't have much to go on other than the word 'garou,' whatever that means. "...wolf, I guess? I thought you guys went out a long time ago. What's up with that? I wasn't actually convinced you ever existed. And second: If you've been a part of Juliet this whole time, why wait 'til now to come out?"

Byrd sighs, and begins ticking off points on her talons. "We didn't die out, the bloodline became too diluted for any full blown lycanthropes to show up, and if they did, they were HORRIBLY weak." She ticks off another. "Second, this stuff comes up about this age, and they figured out that it was strong enough in us that it- me- Would be a problem. Is there anything ELSE you want to know before I start rampaging in your general direction?"

Enzo gave Byrd a hard look. It was... not exactly a long shot, but still an unknown value. There was no guarantee that it would buy them more than a few seconds, either. It was worth the trying, though.

"Just one thing. What's thirteen divided by zero?"

Byrd raises a finger, as if thinking for just a fraction of a second.

"Wait." She says. "You can't do that."

(Anyone that has the "Divide by zero" flaw (Your CPU will actually attempt to divide by zero) is now rebooting for the next thirty seconds, and appears to be faded partially out of existance.)

"Question," Emily said, "Do you have to go on a rampage? I mean, even assuming you finish everyone off, you're just left in a big empty world on your own. That really doesn't sound like much fun to me."

"Well, uhm, then doesn't it make sense to not kill us? We could try to be friends... and if you really have to, there's ways for you to tear stuff up here. Like... Universe of Battle. You could kill people and things in there forever. You still shouldn't kill us, mind. They'd cut the Database off from the internet and you'd be stuck here again, while the adults tried to figure out how to delete you. That would suck."

Like the last one, it was not a perfect plan, but he was somewhat stressed as he became unsure how long they had before Byrd got tired of thinking and started charging.

Alexis has plugged in the two chips she'd gotten earlier as soon as they'd started running, and her own transformation, which was quite less impressive than Byrd's, finished around the time they came up to her.

The ice-wunderkind listened to the others with amazement; she'd been ready for a fight, but they seemed almost able to convince her it wouldn't be a good idea!

"Yeah, and another thing. It's not like Juliet made the best first impression," she said calmly, putting her hands on her hips, "going on a rampage now... isn't going to warm our hearts at all. So why don't we all just chill for a bit and talk?"

(OOC: Hey, guys. I wanted to apologize for the bout of RP suck I just finished up. Every time I think I'm gonna be about to post - after the two weeks in which I was home, I mean, in which doing so was actually a terribly stupid idea - something comes up. I'm back now, and I'm gonna make a concerted effort to REMAIN back.)

Darren didn't actually think Deathwish: Return was more fun than being a Wunderkind, or more interesting than what was going on with the others - he'd heard about them being able to do magic at some point after the day everyone else had seen Thirteen, the day he had decided to devote as much of the unexpected vacation as possible to Deathwish, and was pretty psyched about learning to do it himself - but the important part of it was that Deathwish had scores and a leaderboard, and being a Wunderkind didn't. It was that easy, in Darren's mind: He was, by this point, pretty sure that no one was going to make him the formal leader of the Wunderkind - and, more importantly, no one else was looking likely to get that title before him - so competition had to be found elsewhere. Enter the summer's new blockbuster game release, and its range of multiplayer modes. Darren had been told under no uncertain terms that he wasn't to draw attention to himself (he had a penchant for reacting at computer program speeds now that he was a computer program) by playing on any public servers, so now that he had proven every stacked-deck, we-just-put-this-mode-in-to-provide-a-hypothetical-upper-limit single player mode transparent to his Database-heightened gaming skills, he was ready to completely dominate the other Wunderkind. That's why he left his room for the first time in days to go find the others.

Then someone mentioned unlocking weapons over the link. That got him running.

I'm on my way! What's goin' on?

(OOC: I have no idea if the Divide By Zero thing applies to me, either. I don't think I ever even GOT a sheet for Darren as a Wunderkind.)

Silvie would have loved to have joined in on this conversation ...if her brain (or whatever passed for a brain) didn't try to solve the Enzo's equation. Before she knew it, she had frozen, and she was out like a light.

ABout a minute later, she was back up on her feet, and heard the tale end of the conversation. She blinked and, still groggy, asked, "Friendship? Whassis about friendship?"

Lauren nodded in agreement with Alexis, wincing slightly as Ambassador Leafshade tightened her grip on her hair to avoid falling. For whatever reason, the whole werewolf thing wasn't all that surprising. I mean, it wasn't like that earthquake, right? Besides, she was pretty sure something a lot like this had happened in Deck City Bow Wow. Which made the solution pretty obvious.

Lauren sent a message to everyone except Byrd: Let's try and talk this out, but stay ready for anything, okay? Juliet wouldn't want us... she trailed off. Huh. So there was something comic books hadn't prepared her for. ...okay so I don't actually know what Juliet would want us to do but I sure don't want us to get rampaged...

"Um...don't take this the wrong way, but you're actually kind of making a better first impression than Juliet did. I mean, maybe you were gonna eat us or whatever, but Juliet was a jerk." Lauren held out her hand and the Ambassador scampered down her shoulder and arm to rest in it. The Ambassador looked back towards Lauren for a second, then nodded slightly. Lauren continued, "And you said 'us'...if there are two Juliets, then..."

"...maybe we actually do have something in common," Ambassador Leafshade finished.

Lauren squeaked and drew her hand back quickly, "No, you can't--"

But just as quickly, Ambassador Leafshade leaped off her hand to stay in roughly the same place, (albeit considerably lower to the ground) and sat proudly as Lauren looked at her in worry. "I am Ambassador Leafshade of the forest people. I am a ferret, the noblest of the animal races."

Lauren winced at that. Was that really a good thing to say to a...kind of animal-y, non-ferrety person?

The Ambassador continued calmly, with a look back towards Lauren "...and I'm also her. Mostly. And you can't eat me because..." the Ambassador faltered for a moment. "Um...because...it's not n--"

But Lauren had a sudden flash of inspiration and cut in, "Because she's an ambassador! You can't eat ambassadors 'cause they have diplomatic immunity!"

"Oh, yeah!" Ambassador Leafshade agreed. "That."

It was hard enough not to laugh at the truth that Byrd was actually somehow less of a straight-up bitch than Juliet, but now with Byrd trying to eat Ambassador Leafshade and the ensuing "diplomatic immunity"... Max can't help himself. He busts out laughing. Certainly helped relieve some of that tension.

"Ahh... geez... It's been like, 2 minutes, and even though you wanted to rip us to shreds, already two of us like you more than Juliet."

"Good times."

Enzo stopped and considered.

"... You know, if you joined up with us, I could make you things to hunt and eat, too. Heck, I could even make it challenging for you if you want. All you have to do is be friendly with us and stuff. And not eat the Ambassador, his people won't stand for that and we'll all be in trouble."

What the hell, might as well run with it. It could turn into a fun running gag later maybe.

Sam still seems wary about the whole thing, but he keeps his mouth shut. She does...sort of seem more reasonable than Juliet? But she also said she wanted to eat them, and Juliet probably didn't want to do that. But she's not trying to eat them right now.

Really, Sam figures, the best thing he could do right now is just stay quiet. Otherwise he might screw up Max and Enzo's work. But he can at least fill Darren in on what's happening.

You remember Juliet, Darren? She's a werewolf or something! And she said she wanted to eat us, but now she's being kinda...calm. So I dunno if things are okay or not, but don't run here attacking or screaming or anything in case things really are okay, okay?

Byrd sank back at the mention of diplomatic immunity. "Oh. I wanted to eat it."

She listens to the boys speak, oddly patiently for...Whatever..sort of creature she might be. "We were always told we were better than everyone because of who our parents are, and because of her religion. I dunno about joining up, that seems...Kind of like a thing for a Garou to NOT do."

It's about that time that Darren shows up from behind her. She seems to notice, twitching slightly, but not turning.

Byrd mentioning religion made Max glance over at Juliet's holy book, lying in remarkably good condition on the ground, considering that it's been through a couple walls.

"Hey, speaking of religion... why'd you rip off Juliet's giant goth metal bible or whatever and chuck it through a wall? Doesn't seem like something that someone who gave a damn what religion has to say would do."

"Hmm... well, Juliet's not here right now, so why don't you cool your jets and chill with us for a bit?" she smiled a bit with a twinkle of mischief in her eyes, "I think you're pretty awesome, and we're watching horror movies so this is a pretty funny coincidence."

The slight steam coming from the ice-wunderkind faded for a little bit as she thought, "We could try to talk things over with Janet once she's back... I guess."

Still looking at the book, Max shakes his head and sighs. Sounds about like something Juliet would do.

He ponders for a moment, and then speaks up again.

"Yeah... it's pretty clear that you don't care much for what Juliet and that book have to say about you. I don't know much about the 'code of Garou' or whatever..." Max turns to look at Byrd with serious conviction. "But I know you should join us. You're not just a Garou anymore; you're a Wunderkind now. We're a part of your pack now. You should fight with us, against evil!" Max accentuates this point with an excitedly clenched fist. "Become a force for good in the world and shove it in that stuck up little bitch's face! Show her you're not just some lesser beast driven purely by instinct!"

Max sighs. He doesn't like Juliet, but he also doesn't like having such a strong dislike for someone in the 'family.' Alexis was right; they should at least talk to her. It might not go anywhere right away, but if they chip away at her, little by little...

"... maybe if we can prove her wrong on this, we can help her become a better person. At least a little bit."

Byrd nods, thoughtful but understanding. "We're...The same. I'm..Wunderkind. You're part of my pack now. ...Which one is the alpha?" She asks, looking strangely innocent and bright eyed, for something that wanted to kill them just a few minutes ago.

Sam carefully shakes his head. "We don't really have anyone in charge or anything. I guess...maybe it might even be Mr. Rivendare? Um...normally when we needa do something, he tells us what our mission is and we go do it. And when we don't have a mission we can do pretty much anything we wanna do in here, but when we have a mission we hafta do it. So...kinda him too."

"Yeah, we haven't really settled that question," Emily said, rolling her eyes at the posturing, "We're sort of muddling by without an alpha. We'll probably wind up picking one when everything settles down a bit. We're still pretty new at this."

"It's not something we're going to settle according to who's the best fighter," Emily said seriously, "Otherwise, Kid would be in charge, no question." She intended to stomp firmly on that idea right now, "Mostly it's about leadership. Who'd be best at making decisions for the group. Who we all trust to do that if there's no time to talk things out. It's kind of difficult to say who that person would be, or even if it'd just be the one person all the time. As for challenging... I don't know. I think it'd be more of a democratic process if someody wanted to take over. There's not much point acting like the alpha if nobody else agrees it's you." Darren got a stern look at this point.

As Byrd started talking seriously about fighting whoever was in charge, Enzo quailed a bit, and moved just a bit behind Emmy. He nodded at everything she said, wondering in the back of his mind why he was able to handle Byrd a minute ago and she was now causing him to start to stress out. It might be that Darren was giving her a chance to start things again in earnest... Hopefully Emily was defusing that right now.

"Oh, well," Alexis chips in, her hands starting to glow ever so slightly as the air around her grows a bit chilly.

Emily had been thinking, essentially trying to bridge the gap between them and Byrd. She wasn't exactly human, but she was talking things out at least, and while she might not slot neatly into the group the way another kid would (or some would anyway), Emily thought she would get there in the end.

"With wolves, yes," she said, "But it's different with humans. The strongest isn't always the best-suited to lead, so we look for other traits. There also has to be some consensus, since if people really don't like an alpha, they'll band together to bring them down rather than challenging one-on-one."

Sam feels much in the same place as Enzo right now; Emily seems to have everything well in hand, much better than he could do at this point. He stays back and lets her talk; she's making a lot of sense to him. Hopefully Byrd thinks the same way about it.

Max was almost tempted to let Darren's big mouth get him into a fight with Byrd, but it would probably be counter-productive. He's got Emmy's back.

"Well, we're not quite human, but that's still pretty accurate. For wolves, I imagine the survival of the pack depends on things like hunting for food and protecting the den. I don't know how it is for werewolves, but but for us, our survival depends on more than just strength. I mean, we need strong people, obviously, but when you're basically made of data, intelligence is pretty important, and that's where Enzo and Janet come in." Max pauses for a moment to try to find the best way to make this concept relateable to Byrd.

"They might not throw the strongest punches, but they let us know things like where our enemies are and where to land our punches to do the most damage. Without them, we'd probably be screwed."

"Oh." Byrd says, looking a bit down. "I guess that's not me, then...Oh well. I don't have to be the alpha right now, I guess..."

Well, Byrd seems to be well enough in hand; and without incident! That's definitely a plus.
