Islands of Ecestrim OOC Chat/Recruitment

[Edit] Random stroke of creativity. I encourage any and all members (who can type better than... err... well, at least) to make short appearances as side-characters! Like, if you want to pop in and play a character that'll be in like... one scene... and that's it... then go for it! Just don't... you know, involve yourself in the story too much. *thumbs up*

Note: Watch as this idea makes this RP crumble beneath me. =( [/Edit]

I already have the RPG started over in Other RPGs, but I figured it'd be a good idea to have a seperate OOC thread. Yeah... just read my character's intro into the RPG and if you have any questions, ask them here. If you want to be in the RPG, feel free to just dive in, though I encourage you to first post your general direction in the RPG here first, just so I know where the RPG will be heading upon your entrance into it. I'll include a couple Appendixes that have information about the RPG in here, too.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
[Appendix A - The Islands]

Dragonia (Drah-Go-Knee-Ah) - My kind (see Azerbarth's profile), as well as various snakes, lizards, and stuff. Although the Dome (which is the 'capital') and other cities (which are really irrelevant) are quite sophisticated, un-civilized areas range from very dry and hot, to humid and marshy.

Mageleron (Mah-Jell-Er-On) - Humans and elves. An island almost 'designed' for magic-users. Lots of ancient magicians to train you, so and so. Non-human/living things on this island tend to be strangely colored, as an effect of the magic overflowing from the magicians using it.

Pearlton (Purl-Tonne) - In the ocean surrounding these islands, mermaids and mermen live. On the islands themselves, it's a strange blend of elf and mermaid/merman. Lots of natural vegetation and herbs.

Damnitaria (Dam-Nit-Ar-Ee-Ah) - Demons, mostly, but there are a small number of 'demon-hunters' dwelling in a make-shift town that they've created. Bats, and other evil looking animals. It's always dark here.

Agreshille (Ag-Resh-Ill) - Think ancient Greece, with a bit of modern flair added to it. Humans here, and the trait of strength has seeped into the gene pool in this area, so most babies born here end up very strong people.

Foreline (For-El-Ine) - Elves and woodland creatures. Archery is the main past-time here. It's a very foresty area.

Crooklin (Cruck-Lin) - Most cities look quite shabby, and the islands are completely inhabited by thieves, either human or some sort of English-speaking creatures of stealth.

The Apocalary (Ah-Pock-Uhl-Air-Ee) - The description in the RPG explained it well enough. Gods of good and evil. Not a place you want to be on, unless you want to be ravaged by light and darkness at the same time.

Terra Fester (Tear-Ah Fess-Tur) - Any species. Every inhabitant of this island is either a guard (mostly the less-evil demons), or prisoner (anything that's broken a strict law).

Gem-Ini (Gem/In-Eye) - Naturally inhabited by humans, though there's now a nice blend because of the islands' purpose.

Keep in mind that there are also other semi-human species (such as my character) that are your decision to bring in. I would have gotten much more in-depth with my descriptions, but I want to leave some of that up to you guys.

Hooray for posts. About your adrenaline-writing skills, though, we'll see. I can definitely see that your character has the potential to get into some... interesting situations, though. Should be fun.

I've got another post up, by the way.

And to everyone else: We can't do this with just two people! =D

Edit: Ugh, I really need to be getting to bed. I'll write some more in the RPG tomorrow, kay?
Go to http://www.gamingbliss.net! Pants for all![/b]
Edited by: [url=http://p068.ezboard.com/brpgww60462.showUserPublicProfile?gid=kiduf>kiduf</A] at: 3/13/05 4:01

This is why most people put up an OOC thread before they start the RP. It generally takes, at the very least, a number of days to get the people you want - I'm running an RP right now where it took me three weeks to get six people, and I've been here for years.

By the way, I don't think I'm going to participate in this one...I'm in three or four as it is, plus I'm working on devious plans for the future*, and that's a full plate as far as I'm concerned.

Oh, come now, Spleen. Of course I knew this wasn't the RP post. =P

But kiduf, up in the beginning of the first post of this thread, you put "If you want to be in the RPG, feel free to just dive in, though I encourage you to first post your general direction in the RPG here first", so I was just following directions..

Yeah, that would be great.

What I kind of meant was a paraphrase of what your introduction into the story would be like. Like:

My character is named this. He has a tendency to do that. His temper is not that great. His involvement in the story revolves around the basic goal of this (revenge, greater self-sense, physical/mental betterment, etc.).

Edit: I think I'll let FD make the next post, since I kind of qued him in at the end of my last one. Unless, of course, you want to expand your story any more, Molokidan.
Go to http://www.gamingbliss.net! Spleen: Haha, yeah, I realized my mistake a little after it became apparent. Well, I mean, I can't really do anything about it now, since I already screwed up. I'll just have to see how it all works out.

Molokidan: ... so... do I post in the RPG under the assumption that your post was a part of it? Anyone else have ideas as to how I should go about getting this sorted out? =/

Quick question. Are you going to be doing the thing where you, as the GM, control all actions/dialogue/whatever from the NPCs (which, to be honest, is the standard thing here), or do you want me to play out the interaction with the group of thugs? It's kind of hard to tell from the posts so far.

So, what's the deal with other people more or less borrowing your character for the purposes of character interaction or general plottiness? I was considering getting involved, but I didn't quite see where you were going with that (which may easily be a function of my inexperience).
-------------------------

Yay, Kai! We need more players.

I'll offer you what I think to be an accurate explanation, until kiduf comes back.

Also, you could check the thread for instances of this. In this game, there is a GM, but players are also granted "Semi-GM-like" powers, and are encouraged to advance the plotline in their own posts. This commonly requires the usage of others' characters (of course, everything is done ICly.)

RPs of this fashion, when done with respectable, trustworthy, skillful RPers, can actually turn out quite enjoyable! And they're fast-paced, to boot!
---------------

Well, fast paced, unless I'm involved. I am the great bottleneck!

Anyways. You'll note that we stop 'using' the other person's character or whatever when issues of revealing important information come up, and stuff.

Character sheet.

hiYAH!

She'll probably start out at Terra Fester. That way she can meet people and possibly assist in whatever prison break will inevitably take place. I'll do the intro as soon as possible for the sake of justice everywhere (or some equivalent ideal).
-------------------------

Oh my. That doesn't seem like the most enjoyable of ways to spend a birthday. ^^;

Well, my party was going to be a complete blowout, so I had to plan waaaaay ahead. 2 Laser Quest games for 12 people, karaoke rentals for my house, massive orders of pizza and chicken wings, a huge stash of carbonated beverages and an impressive collection of juices, DVD rentals, invitations (done by word of mouth, huzzah!), game rentals, paper/plastic plates and cups (respectively), 8 bags of chips, 4 jars of salsa. The whole she-bang went from about 2PM to 1AM.

The party took up two of the biggest rooms in my house, which are, coincidentally, adjacent to eachother. Some people couldn't make it to Laser Quest, so at the 'after-party' there were like 17 people in my basement. I'll give you a brief scene so you can see the atmosphere:

Everyone had just gotten comfy in Steve's house, and people in the second room were just starting up some SSBM action, and everyone had just gotten drinks. Unbeknownst to most of the individuals in the house, someone was preparing to play a DVD in the main room, with it's uber leet sound system. The lights turned off in the room, and the speakers were cranked high... and what do we hear? "What is Love", for a good 3 or 4 minutes, with perfect lighting in the room, and everyone bobbing their head for novelty's sake. Everyone is happy and energetic, and even the people in the second room (the game room, I suppose) are laughing along.

I'm not sure if that little excerpt can really convey the feeling of completeness in this house at that moment, but I really hope it can. I mean... it was just perfect then. An awesome way to celebrate your birthday.

Note: Err, I'm pretty sure someone is going to bring up my age pretty soon, so might as well clarify now. 3/4 of the attendees at that party were either seniors in high school or University students, so factor that into the scenario described above and maybe then it won't be like, "wtf?"

Note 2: WHY I just went off on an unexplained tangent describing my birthday, I may never know. Sorry.
Go to http://www.gamingbliss.net! Pants for all![/b]
