Rather sick.

To everyone it may concern:
I have missed things this week and most likely will go on missing them for a bit because I have a stomach flu. Unless you come up with a way to abate the vomiting, the diarrhea, and the fever, I probably will be out of it for a bit.
I think this is the place this is supposed to go, but I'm not too sure since my diet for the past two days has consisted of water and Tylenol.
[---------------------------]

I'm far too lazy to find the bunker image that Jak used the last time I Zerg rushed him.

That bunker is helpless against the zergling/defiler dual onslaught. Dark Swarm provides cover from ranged attacks, reducing all of the bunker's potential damage to zero and allowing the zerglings to tear apart its tough metal exterior to get at the squishy marines and firebats inside.

I would have used more, Bes, but you were implying that I was alone. Thus my only option was the solitary bunker.
__-__-__-__-__-__

Wetas can't cross the ocean, so meh.

Dan's demons are about as scary as my brother Chaos Space Marines figurines.

FD's frozen gonads. ... Do I honestly need to reply to this? He wasn't even the one volunteering them.

Finally: Remember Chris is part of the hivemind. So if somehting too badass to be killed normally comes along, we'll just dodge it.

Firebats.

Actually, Idran is correct. Firebats are ranged--it's just that their range is very, very short (one or two "squares"). The Terrans have no true melee units--in fact, the game only has four melee only units (zealots, dark templar, zerglings, and ultralisks). All other units have some range, even if it is very short, or some special ability that precedes normal melee attacking (scourge, infested Terrans).

And a bit of game mechanics trivia--firebats actually hit twice, each time for 8 points of damage, not once for 16, which means that the effectiveness of armor against their attacks is doubled (aside from their damage type being concussive, which means that any medium or large unit gets a reduction of 50 or 75% damage already), making firebats extra terrible against any unit with heavy armor!

However, they still muller zerglings.

Re: Rather sick.

Unread postPosted: Thu Mar 03, 2005 12:25 pm
by Archmage144
That's because zerglings are small and lightly armored (so they take nearly full damage), as well as tending to group up, making them vulnerable to the firebats' splash damage attacks. If Spleen stuck a few 'bats in that bunker, it might survive, because splash attacks ignore dark swarm, but then, it depends on how many zerglings and how many upgrades they've got. If the zerglings have adrenal glands and a few weapon/armor upgrades, it's goodbye bunkers.

Also, note that I didn't take into account the worker units for each race, as they are all melee units, and I forgot about broodlings, mostly because you can't actually build them and they're basically chibi-zerglings.

Don't make me use screencaps on your ass. Cuz I'll fuckn do it.

Also: What, you going to airlift your marines to safety from four dozen zerglings? In theory, I guess they migh escape, but for four units, it's hardly worth your effort.

Whatever you say. Marines sure don't care if you abandon them. And, of course, there's no way one of them will be infested, and then one day become the leader of the Swarm. And even if they did, they sure wouldn't pretend to be your ally later only backstab you out of revenge just when you had reclaimed your homeworld from the UED forces.
