This is a war fought as much with hearts and minds as with guns and blades. It is a war that must be fought without mercy, without end. It must be fought in the dark, forgotten places of the galaxy, where the light of the Emperor is but a dim flicker and the shadows of the forces that oppose him gather and grow strong. If the fight is lost, heresy and possession will run out of control and the Emperor, mankind’s saviour and protector, will be doomed. - The Inquisitor rulebook
This RP is one set in the 41st millennium, when mankind has spread out across the galaxy and is ruled over by an tyrannical and xenophobic regime which demands obedience and worship of the one true god, the Emperor, with failure to do so resulting in charges of heresy and death, or worse. It's one where humanity is beset on all sides by alien threats, along with the ever present threat of the daemonic powers of Chaos.
Those already familiar with the setting should know what I'm on about. For those that don't, I've uploaded a pdf copy of the Inquisitor rulebook here. While I don't plan on using the actual rules the book does give a nice primer on the setting, albeit one that's 50 megs big. I can provide additional info if you catch me online or, failing that, pop me an e-mail.
The structure of the game will be similar to that detailed in the book: the PCs will be an Inquisitor and his/her followers, and they'll have to deal with a few of the many threats to the Imperium. I've already got two players; Pervy as an acolyte priest of the Emperor, and Kelne playing an eldar on the path of the outcast who's become indebted to the inquisitor. Since I'm planning on taking 5 players that leaves two more henchman spaces and the role of the inquisitor him/herself (although I know there's at least one person who's already looking to fill that roll).
I'll be using a modified version of windows, character sheet found here. Due to the nature of the characters already created PCs should be at least tolerant of alien races. Although there's no class system the pdf gives several different options, although space marines, daemonhosts and anything incapable of thinking for itself (arco-flagellants, for example) are off limits. I'd also prefer if people steer away from alien races, since there's already one in the form of Kelne's character. Lastly, characters shouldn't be excessively powerful. Bolt, plasma, melta and other rare weapons are off limit for anyone but the inquisitor, and even then they should be considered rare. As for stats, a human isn't going to have strength or toughness above d10 unless he's truly exceptional or wired up with bionics.
I'll be going up to university tomorrow and, while I'll be able to get on the net, I won't be able to get onto AIM for any meaningful amount of time. Since I'm planning to run this in chat the RP will start in around 2 weeks or so. Please post what times/days are best for you along with your character sheets.
