Rivan Dragoons

I've looked through the RP Stuff section and found information on the different groups of dragoons, but where can I go to find information on dragoons in general?

Dragoons wear heavy armor, favor spears, and pass down secret jumping techniques that allow them to clear twenty to thirty feet, horizontal and vertical, from a standing start, despite wearing heavy armor and carrying a heavy spear. There you go. <p>

There's nothing on dragoons in general on the Gaera Guide. There's a little bit of info on Baronian dragoons in the Baron info, and some about Rivan dragoons in the Riva info. Whatever's not written down is pretty much open to reasonable interpretation. <p>

...until now, I've based all assumptions about dragoons on Legend of Dragoon... ah, that game sucked.

I know dragoons are a mythical character-type that existed long before that game, but I have little to go on.

Thanks for the info, Josh/Rydia. I'll keep it in mind.

Yes, yes it did.

Also, no problem. <p>

Yeah, our basis is more Final Fantasy.

Also Dragoons are hardly mythical, I think it's a French military title.

Dragoons = A type of mounted rifleman soldier.

Indeed, I think it's French. Though I'm not going to claim anything. But, yeah.

You're all wrong, they're four-legged cybernetic soldiers that fire plasma bolts at land and air targets! You need a cybernetics core to build them. <p>Image</p>

In Gaera dragoons are generalized as soldiers that emulate the fighting style of dragons through use of heavy plated armor and jumping down upon their enemies. <p>

I agree Choark. That game was alot of fun. Though, they could have worked on his first name. Who name's their kid Dart... I mean.. Honostly.

"Yes Dart, I will cook now."

Anyway, I guess I should note that all original dragoons were, at least originally, soldiers/followers of Ryuugami. That...kind of got corrupted in certain states (*cough, Riva, cough cough*). <p>

So they don't fly, or have dragon wings, or any wings for that matter? They just jump?

They just jump, for the most part. Some might fly. The ones who openly follow Ryuugami all have magical powers granted by her, so that can include levitation. Shaun has RPed his (devout, of a sort) dragoon with a dragon form when very provoked. I suppose other dragoons might get wings when provoked, if you wanted to do that...it's pretty open. Having wings wouldn't be too common, though. <p>

Naw, it's cool that they just jump. Levitation, that might be for special occasions... I've been doing a lot of research. Hmm... are dragoons employed by other countrys' militaries?

Gunnir Academy keeps a lot of dragoons around, most of which are still at least somewhat tied to the holy dragons. They serve as guards and a small form of independent military that supplements the wizards in case of attack. <p>

It's also noteworthy that those who practice dragoon techniques but are not tied to any religious organization are often called Lancers. Lancers tend to have Dragoon Jumping, and little else in the way of gnarly granted powers, unless they research them on their own.

Baron keeps dragoons, which are almost invariably devout followers of Ryuugami. <p>

Since we're on the subject of Doma (tho we're not), how likely do you think it'd be for me to have an RP character break into Doma Castle? Is it possible I could somehow get past the various security measures?

It's generally pretty difficult. It's been done, but you need a pretty good plan to pull it off. If in doubt, run the plan by someone with a good knowledge of the security. <p>"80% of my so-called friends would happily push me in front of a bus. Well, that depends, I would think. Has it been rebuilt since the NeoVanists vaporized half of it and had a gigantic pitlord fall on it? <p>Image</p>

Yep. Rebuild and restaffed.

Kelne has the right of it; essentially, though it's happened enough times in the past that the guards have learned from their mistakes and are especially paranoid about it.

All depends on how it happens, really.

Kelne has the right of it. IM someone who knows, which would likely be either Shini or I.
