What this thread is for is to advertise a series of chat RPs I'll be running over the summer holidays (July through to September). As you can probably tell, it'll be all about piracy, plundering and swigging rum with a good lass on your lap. Among other things, of course. I've been toying and working on this idea for some weeks now, and have already approached a couple of people via IM about this. However, at this point I need to grab a full compliment of PCs (6 of them, or there abouts) before I can progress. Also, note that this will be a Phil Sys RP.
The party will be the leading members (more or less) of a single pirate vessel which has recently signed on as privateers with Barius after their popularity with the other pirates that sail the seas in the area took a severe turn for the worst. Either existing or new PCs may be used, although the former need a good reason to be working aboard the pirate ship. Perhaps they signed on when the ship was docked in more accessible harbors, or were already in Barius. Characters who hold a significant amount of loyalty to the crown of Doma need not apply. What I need, in terms of PCs, are listed below.
2 Barian "officials"
1 Captain
2 of the following -
Quartermaster
First Mate
Master Gunner
Boatswain
Surgeon
Master Carpenter
Boarding Party Leader
I believe that Shini and Bes will be filling the rolls of those working for the Barian government. If either of you no longer wish to do so, please post here. As for anyone who wants to play the captain, they'd almost certainly need to create a new character and contact me via IM and e-mail (jaksnide@hotmail.com) to hammer out exactly what happened that resulted in them and their ship resorting to work for Barius. They'd also need to be able to control the crew of the ship and keep themselves in power; hence charisma is needed, since an uninspiring captain will most likely be voted out of his position and marooned as soon as he makes his first mistake.
If you do decide to make a new character, keep in mind what life at sea is like. They'll most likely have ranks in [s]Sailing, be able to keep their balance on deck, be able to climb the riggings of a ship and perform any specialist duty well. The ability to navigate or act as a helmsman would also be desirable.
Finally, anyone who wants to take part must be available on a weekly basis. While I imagine that the day of the week will remain static for the most part it may fluctuate a little to accommodate people who can't make it for special circumstances. Also, as I mentioned above, while I'm looking for 6 PCs, I may be able to take one or two more.
