Popo's Character Thread

Unread postby PopoSujo » Fri Nov 14, 2003 12:27 am

Name: Xavier Galanodel
RPer: PopoSujo
Race: Human
Age: 17
Height: 5'8
Eye color: Grey
Hair color: Blond

Background:

Xavier didn't know much of his past. The only thing he knew is that
he was raised by an old man named Elgyol in a small cottage in the
middle of a vast wood. Elgyol raised him and cared for him, and Xavier
loved being with him.

Xavier could, since he remembers, talk to the animals of the forest, as
could Elgyol. Asking a rabbit how it was doing or singing songs with a
sparrow were normal everyday occurrences for the boy.

When Xavier turned 13, Elgyol told him that he had a gift for him.
This surprised Xavier, because usually on his birthdays they would just
go out into the woods somewhere and have a big lunch. Elgyol got their
packs ready, and they began to travel. For four days straight they
walked, before finally leaving the woods and going into a city.

Xavier was amazed. The sights and sounds and smells were all new to
him. Elgyol explained as they walked around that this is where Xavier
was from, and that his parents had brought him to Elgyol to raise him
because they couldn't. Xavier didn't really care much, because he
couldn't even remember his parents. That day was wonderful, and Elgyol
showed Xavier all around the city.

They traveled back to the forest that night. When they got back to the
cottage, they found that it bad been broken into. Nothing of value was
in the cottage, so it didn't matter, but Elgyol was furious. He raised
his hand at the walls that had been slashed and the door that had come
off the hinges, and suddenly it was fixed.

Xavier didn't ask anything about it, but after that point, Elgyol began
doing odd things with him. He emphasized how Xavier should always do
the right thing, no matter what, and how he should resort to force only
if necessary. He began making Xavier meditate and learn about the
different parts of life, like water, fire, the earth, and the air.

On Xavier's 15th birthday, Elgyol presented him with a staff. It was
metal, Xavier new, but it was very hard and very light at the same
time. Runes in a silver script went up and down it, and it was tipped
with a multi-colored crystal: red, blue, green, and yellow seemed to
shift and phase in and out of it. The crystal, Elgyol
explained, represented the elements, and these he would teach Xavier
about.

Thus the training began. Xavier would meditate for hours at a
time, and slowly his aptitude for elemental magic increased. He was
also taught how to fight with the staff, but only in a defensive
manner, with strikes focusing on incapacitating or disarming his
opponents.

By the time Xavier was 17 he had completed his training. Elgyol
praised his student's abilities and character; he had become very good
at both magic and the staff forms, and was very chivalrous.

Then the men came. A band of seven scruffy men came into the clearing
of the cottage one day while Xavier and his mentor were meditating.
Both immediately felt their presence and stood to face them. The men
asked about a staff with a multi-colored crystal in the top of it they
had been paid to find. Elgyol told them he and his "son" were just
simple woodsmen and didn't know anything about that. Xavier kept
quiet.

The men went by the Xavier and Elgyol and broke into the house. Elgyol
passively watched, but Xavier grew nervous because he had left the
staff beside his cot. The men came back out with hands empty, insulted
the two of them for a bit, and left.

"Master, why did they not see the staff?" Xavier asked. "It was
laying out in the open, I know it was." Elgyol told him that he had made the men's
eyes move over the staff, and then went into the house. He brought out
the staff, Xavier's pack, and a green cloak.

"Xavier, people are after this. This staff has abilities that certain
people want to, and must never get, their hands on. You are a fine
young man and a talented Elementalist. Go to the city, my boy. There
you will find answers." Xavier had always listened with perfect
obedience to his master, so with many questions left unanswered, he set
out on his journey.

--Spells/Techs--
[Staves=1]Disarm (2 TP): When someone strikes at Xavier with a weapon, he uses his training to knock the weapon out of their hands.
[Staves=2]Incapacitate (4 TP): Used to strike at the pressure points of an individual, these strikes are used to put someone out of the fight without killing them.
[Staves=4]Vital Strike (8 TP): This move is to be used only under extreme circumstances in which Xavier can neither dissuade combat nor get away. Xavier analyzes the opponent, finds a weak spot, and strikes there, causing an instant critical hit
[Innate]Speak With Animals (0 TP): Xavier can freely communicate with animals. This includes mammals, birds, reptilians, amphibians, etc.
[Meditation=1]Meditate (1 TP): Xavier takes a few minutes to enter a state of meditation. After meditating for one hour, all MP costs over the next two hours are decreased by 25%.
[Meditation=4]Walking Meditation (6 TP): Xavier can meditate while moving around or performing other actions. 6 TP must be used upon entering this state and 2 additional TP for every hour after the first. If attacked while in Walking Meditation, Xavier must make a Meditation roll vs. 10+(Damage Dealt/2). During Walking Meditation, all mana costs are reduced my 25%.
[Innate]Detect Elements: Xavier can sense the presence of elements in everything. If he were meditating in his room, for instance, and somebody entered, he would be able to detect them due to the air in their lungs and water in their body.
[Double Magic=3]Duel Wield (2 TP, 4 MP): Xavier can control two different elements at the same time, such as causing a ball of flame to hurtle towards a target at the same time as creating a wall of air.

Elemental Magic:
The elemental magic Xavier learned from Elgyol is all about controlling the elements, not creating them. So while Xavier might be able to control the size and shape of a bonfire, he wouldn't spontaneously create a flame the size of a pea unless he received training in fire magic itself).
Fire: Xavier can control any already existing fire. While he cannot create the fire, he could take a ball of fire from a torch and hurl it at someone.
Water: Xavier can control bodies of water. There are many defensive uses for this, such as causing the water in the streambed to rise up and interfere with arrows. An offensive use might be shooting highly pressurized streams of water at someone.
Earth: The defensive uses for this are almost infinite. Making a dome of rock around himself, bring up walls of stone, and making tunnels underground are all possible uses. Offensive uses might be causing a jagged rock to shoot out of the ground or opening holes.
Air: Air control is the easiest because air is everywhere. Hitting people with walls of air, stopping arrows, and calling down lightning from already present storms are some uses of this.
*Depending on how much effort Xavier puts forth in controlling something and the amount controlled determines how much the MP cost is. I will leave this decision up to the GM.

Tinuviel

Unread postby PopoSujo » Fri Nov 14, 2003 12:31 am

Name: Tinuviel
RPer: PopoSujo
Race: Anthropomorphic Cheetah
Age: 27
Height: 6'6
Eye Color: Amber
Hair Color: No hair, just fur
Appearance: She wears loose-fitting, brown cargo pants and a cheetah-print mid-drift
tank top.

Tinuviel was raised in the slums of Doma. An old woman, who Tinuviel only referred to
as "Nana" took care of her and fed her. Most of her time, however, was spent in the back
alleys and streets.

In the back alleys and streets, one has to be strong to survive. She quickly learned how
to fight and how to hide, how to run and how to chase, and many other skills. She can
pretty much be thought of as a Back Alley Monk: she can fight, jump, and run, but she isn't
really into the whole "humble, meditating monk" thing.

Is she a bastet, or another type of cat/humanoid creature? I like the combination. I have a bastet that I've been getting help with, if you want some inspiration for the conversion.

She is pretty much a bastet, based off of a D&D character I had (Monk/Street Acrobat). I would gladly take any advice anyone has to offer.

And also, I need help figuring out armor and weapon stats. Sorta confusing >_< <p>

Ju'lial

Unread postby PopoSujo » Sat Nov 22, 2003 11:19 pm

Name: Ju'lial Moonstar
Race: Elf
Age: Equivalent of 19 (not sure how Elven races age in Gaera)
Gender: Male
Hair: Platinum that reaches to the middle of his back (think Sephiroth's, but shorter)
Height: 5'8
Eye Color: Grey

Background: Ju'lial was born in a small elven village in the forest of (insert name here). He was a very roguish child; he was the one that got blamed for every practical joke and mishap (and rightly so, most of the time). Rather than the sword or bow that many of his brethren preferred, he liked using a two-weapon style consisting of two daggers: one about the length of a short sword with a wavy blade and the other half that size with only one edge. As he grew older he picked up pickpocketing, and was blamed for missing items as well as minor mishaps.

Ju'lial quickly grew bored with his home village and set out wondering, carrying his two daggers and a pack containing some rations, a hammock, and various other useful things for travel.

Skills/Affinities: Ju'lial is a very competent fighter; he can hold his own against several opponents at once. He relies on his speed and agility in combat, wearing only padded armor and no shield. Though not quite as skilled as with his daggers, Ju'lial can wrestle and fight unarmed when the need arises.

Ju'lial is also a notorious pickpocket. He steals things for the challenge, not for the theft itself, although if he sees a fat purse for the taking, it is almost impossible to hold him back. He is a mischievious person, and plays many practical jokes at random times.

Aside from being a competent fighter and thief, Ju'lial can't do much. He is untrained in magic use, though he wants to learn how to make illusions to further his talents. <p>

Arkady

Unread postby PopoSujo » Mon Nov 24, 2003 8:27 am

Character name: Arkady Armondo
Race: Fallion
Class: Axe Wielder
Appearance: His most notable feature is his foot and a half tall mohawk that starts out neon green in the front and works it way back to hot pink. He is 6'6 and very, very heavily muscled. Wears big jeans with a jester head on the back pocket and a tight wife beater-esque shirt. Has his lip, nose, left eyebrow, tongue and both ears pierced (as well as other places ^_^).
Level: 12

Personality: Arkady is that big football jock in high school that actually gets along with everyone. Defending the weak, flirting with everyone, and smashing members of the opposite team, Arkady is always getting along with people. In the game he plays his character the same way (which is why he chose an axe wielding Fallion).

Ryan

Unread postby PopoSujo » Thu Nov 27, 2003 3:04 am

NAME: Ryan Wolf
DESCRIPTION: Ryan is 6'0, weighs around 155 lbs., and is of medium build. He is far from fat, but he isn't extremely muscular/built. He has short brown hair that he puts up in a little wave at the front. He wears black and white Airwalk shoes, a pair of black JNCO jeans with a white dragon on the front of the left leg and another white drag on the back of the right. He wears shirts with various little sayings on them, though his favorite is black with white letters saying "Honer Role Stewdent." He has brown eyes, and no facial hair. Fairly pale skin.
WORLD: X-Men

ABILITIES: Ryan has the ability to shapeshift into many different things. Not just animals or monsters and the like, but also chairs, swords, spears, refrigerators, and even hand guns (though you would need bullets to shoot from him).

PERSONALITY/BACKGROUND: Ryan developed his power in an unfortunate situation. He was raised in a rough neighborhood, and his school was an extremely violent one. One day he got jumped on the way home from school, and bit a kids arm off by turning his teeth into those of a shark. He was quickly sent to Xavier's Institute where he spent several months in rehabilitation, and learned to control his power. Ryan is a fairly quiet person, although once he befriends someone a lot of his shyness melts away. He is extremely scared of deep water and somewhat uncomfortable in the dark (he doesn't like not knowing what's out there). He is fairly stable, mentally, but try and force him into deep waters and you may just lose a limb. <p>
