PS question: Absorb soul technique

I have 4 characters that can innately absorb souls. I had started to make it a purely vampiric type ability where it healed HP only. However, if they are absorbing a person's soul along with their life force, I would assume that it should technically heal HP, TP, and MP.

And since I kind of have to figure out damages on my own I want to offer this to Adam and Shaun at the very least.

Absorb Soul
Intentional ability to absorb soul and life energy from close physical contact.
Lvl 1-5: (3 TP) Absorb HP only. Absorb 1d10x1d10 percent of opponent's HP
Lvl 6-10: (5 TP) Absorb HP and TP. Same as first modified for HP and TP
Lvl 11-?: (10 TP) Absorb HP, TP, and MP. Same as first modified for HP, TP, and MP.

**If critical, instant kill for combat opponents or instant unconsciousness for PCs for 3 days.

It seems sort of...strange...to use TP for an ability that absorbs TP.

Bah.

Osmose's MP usage was, like, just there so it would HAVE an MP cost.

FD:
It's not so strange. If the chips are down, you still have to use effort and energy to attempt the task. If you have no TP you can't really absorb the soul. You don't have the stuff but if you barely have enough, it's a chance for you to get it all back. Kind like playing the lottery with money in order to get more money back.

The costs seem a bit low, given that you are not only healing yourself, but draining the enemy for what will average a significant amount.

Image Image Image Image Image ImageImage

I think the healing is a secondary effect of the draining. They aren't two seperate simultaneous actions.

Eating when you're hungry makes you feel better but but not at the cost of tiring you out. Unless you eat too much. And I should make a note of that as a penalty. Hmm.....

I've got a question.

What would happen if, say, you absorb 100% of the HP of an opponent, when the opponent has twice the HP you've got? Would the excess HP be lost?

Also, it seems that with a bit of luck, you could kill anything you meet relatively easy at level one. Even though getting a 100% absorb is unlikely, doing an avarage of 50% damage to *anything* seems a bit overpowered, unless you're fighting enemies with low HP. Maybe it'd be a good idea to put a cap on the damage? (Like the Demi spell from FF, that would take 50% of the enemy's HP, but couldn't do over 9999 damage).

I don't know that much about PhilSys though, so I might be wrong.

FD: I'm trying to give Rube the benefit of the doubt. You know like him saying something useful to help me out.

SL:
I should be referring to my HP not the opponents. I don't think it would make sense for a small demon fey to be able to kill something more powerful then him or herself. So if the PC has 50 HP then s/he can only maximumly absorb 50 HP.

Actually, the average percentage would be around 28.5%, since you're multiplying two random values, making low totals more common than high ones.

Really? Hm...then maybe it could be towards the opponents HP? I think I could add a penalty then for 'overfeeding' that I alluded to previously.
