Character Theme Song!

Unread postby Kai » Mon Dec 31, 2007 10:23 pm

Okay. Using the fabulous esnips.com, either locate or host an mp3 of a song that you feel best represents one of your characters.

JOSS!

Ready Steady Go. Yes, that's from FMA. Lyrics are here! Along with the actual opening video! Click this!

Edit: It occurs to me! If anyone finds a song that reminds them of someone else's character, that'd be a neat thing to post as well. So do that, too!

Next song on the list! Pistolero by Juno Reactor. In honor of Kite and Mercutio, played by FlameRaven and Oniichan respectively. I couldn't get it up on esnips because they were worried about copyright stuffs, so this is youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QF7W0V_NRI). I don't recommend watching the video, as it's basically people in tribal paint under a blacklight. The song's good, though! Just listen.

And for Spleen's Boreas, here's Don't Be Worried, by Cyril Morin. This song would either inflate Boreas' ego ("Don't be afraid. You'll be famous... you'll be famous...") or just make him incredibly paranoid (basically everything else). Both are important enough to my image of Boreas that this song seemed good. I also had trouble with esnips on this one, so an alternate site might be 4shared.com (which, though it requires you to have the WMP plugin for Firefox, seems to work okay).

Still working out the kinks on this process, but it's more fun finding a way to let people listen to the songs than just posting the lyrics.

The only character of mine that's ever had anything remotely like a theme song is a maniacal priest in an RO-based RP setting whose theme is Vast's song, Turquoise (and that's largely because someone else suggested it to be so, but it does fit pretty well). The perfect music to walk down cobblestone paths, grinning, clenching and unclenching one's hands with wicked designs brewing in one's mind.

I'd post a link, but these music sharing sites seem to be kind of shit, so hell with that.

Edit: Youtube link for music.

"Anything that might be of interest to Slitscan. Which is to say, anything that might be of interest to Slitscan's audience. Which is best visualized as a vicious, lazy, profoundly ignorant, perpetually hungry organism craving the warm god-flesh of the anointed. Personally I like to imagine something the size of a baby hippo, the color of a week-old boiled potato, that lives by itself, in the dark, in a double-wide on the outskirts of Topeka. It's covered with eyes and it sweats constantly. The sweat runs into those eyes and makes them sting. It has no mouth, Laney, no genitals, and can only express its mute extremes of murderous rage and infantile desire by changing the channels on a universal remote. Or by voting in presidential elections."

Shada's themes lately (atleast, since End of the Chaos) have been "Live and Learn" by The Cardigans, and "Extraordinary Machine" by Fiona Apple. I can't actually find the latter song at the moment. I know it's on my hard drive, it comes up randomly on my winamp playlist now and again, but I can't figure out where it actually is on the drive. So I can only send people the former song if they're curious about it. ... Or, you know, youtube maybe.

Took me some time to think of Shiranai's. Here goes! (Thank God for youtube)

Shiranai: "Godspeed" by Anberlin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YGCG-Fhfkk
Taryn: "Reduced to Teeth" by Finch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gb3Omwxo7pI[/url]

Having been nudged here, I feel compelled to compare Zea and She Blinded Me With Science.

Other thoughts include Shiny's Selene as Stayin' Alive, or Still Alive if you prefer; it came up one time that had things turned out differently, she could've been a disembodied computerized villain. Perhaps she would've been oh so happy to conduct experiments?

And my own Romulus with Bill Nye the Science Guy.

I'm gonna start with Taiar, because he's my avatar character and overall great fun. Bump of Chicken has been named as his official band, but for a specific themesong I'm gonna have to go with...

Sailing Day with Lyrics.

I think they provide a good "Fight Against Destiny" and "Live For The Moment" sort of feeling that Tai seems to exhibit; his slightly good and heroic nature even though he is a Mazoku, and his fairly often wandering.

Ode is Heard Somebody Cry by Oingo Boingo, because it's totally the song that I based her backstory off of. Also Left of Center by Suzanne Vega. There's also Rosemary by the same artist, although in that case I see it more of her sister, Aede singing.

Mink is Jewel's Hands, and also All the Way, because unwavering hope and optimism is essentially Mink in a nutshell.

And as for Kite and Merc, I usually think of Scalliwag by Gaelic Storm.

...at some point when it is not 3 am I may try to put up music links, and not just lyrics.

Molo's would have to be Sashimi to Wasabi by the Sex Machineguns, which is a riveting rock ballad about a man who lacks the proper coin to purchase some proper high-grade sashimi, but still holds up his pride by enhancing the flavor of his low-grade choices by slopping tons of sashimi on it. Truly a man ahead of his time.

Firstly and Randomly: Kino no Tabi was great.

Molo's summary of the song Sashimi to Wasabi depresses me for some reason. Lack of responses in this thread also depresses me, so let's hit another one of my characters.

Siyun Yuendai Badoa, with his theme song Danger! High Voltage! (ESnips was giving me problems, so here is the song disguised as an FLCL AMV.)
For Lyrics, Please see Here.

With lyrics like "Don't you wanna know why we keep starting fires?!" and "Danger! High Voltage!" and most importantly "Fire at the Taco Bell!" how could I ever pass this up for the theme to my favorite walking magical accident. Just don't read too much into the other lines...

Originally I wanted for it to be "I'm the Bomb" but those lyrics were way too far out. Oh well.

Also happens to be Boreas's cell phone ringer for when Romulus calls him.

Ashley's Boreas submission is pretty cool, but for Boreas when he's not climbing through his friends' windows in the middle of the night to offer cryptic suggestions, there's How Much Longer by Eve 6. Music and lyrics are both on this site http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9KsFo2_WTU in the guise of a Naruto AMV. That song's very appropriate both in lyrics and style.

For Seryntas, http://youtube.com/watch?v=xZdL1BupbhU System of a Down's ATWA. But if you want to hear the sort of thing that's going through his head in a fight, it's more like Bounce by System of a Down: http://youtube.com/watch?v=bf6r65_iHL4 and that video is pure madness.

Ake Tanner. Let's go with I Like Dirt by Red Hot Chili Peppers. http://youtube.com/watch?v=Yu71kXDocZ8 I don't know what the hell is going on in this video, but it's a good Ake song, but not necessarily the words.

Telerak Zekail, from Elemaer. Tel's gotta be Tom Sawyer, by Rush. http://youtube.com/watch?v=JBTvSlhXgiI

Jagen Turlis, also from Elemaer, gets Hero by Chad Kroeger. http://youtube.com/watch?v=etp8L9pbqeM Ignore the Spiderman-ness of the music video.

Niranjan Kandadai really likes the Red Hot Chili Peppers, so let me see if there's one by them that fits an Indian guy who can become a giant conglomerate monster. Purple Stain works if you ignore the words. http://youtube.com/watch?v=hXW-_PSj9cQ Again with the stupid penguin music videos for RHCP songs.

For Larifien Starfinder, there's The Analog Kid, by Rush. http://www.esnips.com/doc/c4908b4d-684e ... Analog-Kid

I think that's it.

Jessie gets either No More Mr. Nice Guy (Megadeath) http://www.esnips.com/doc/c7488bfe-7ff9 ... r-Nice-Guy or Sunless Sea (Mythos) http://www.last.fm/music/Mythos/_/Sunless+Sea dependant on if you're looking for lyrics that describe pretty much the events of his life (No More Mr. Nice Guy) or a song that seems to pull out his dmeanor (Sunless Sea).

Anasia gets Angel's Weep (Mythos) based on nothing more than a hazy recollection of her. http://www.last.fm/music/Mythos/_/Sunless+Sea
