Stray shrinks away form Kyrie's gaze, inverse eye darting around the room nervously. "No, I can't...Cannon and Bastion'll get mad."

"Oh, we can't let the risk of people trying to kill us dictate where we go," Sana said with the breezy confidence of somebody who was really difficult to threaten, let alone kill.

Triya nodded, interjecting herself into the conversation with Stray, "That's fair enough. We should really talk to them ourselves rather than sneaking about behind their backs. You must have a few questions of your own. Tell you what, would you like to give us a tour of the camp while we talk?"

Cannon had, after all, asked that they make an effort to come out of the tent, and having a friendly guide to show them about ought to help.

"Um...Y-Yeah, I guess..That would be okay." Stray says after a moment's thought. She pokes back out of the tent, waiting for the others to catch up.

Having torn his attention away from Sana to watch the conversation, Rasmus found that Stray wasn't the only one worth watching. Informative as the answers may have been, there was plenty to glean from the questions as well. After all, he hadn't even been with the group for a day. The sudden change in direction from questions to tours brought a slightly puzzled look to his face, but it was short-lived.

"Maybe we can finally get something to eat," he said with a glance back at Oleai. "Sorry you didn't get to eat in town. That was hours ago. You've gotta be starving."

A few steps more, and he was out of the tent, and out into the balmy snow storm. As he got near Stray, Rasmus tried to put on his best pleasant face and said, "Hey there. Cannon said there was food," he put on a little smile and asked, despite having been told earlier, "What're they making?"

He let them travel a few more steps before asking, "Oh yeah, Stray, right? How old you say you are?"

At the mention of a tour, all confidence drains from Kyrie; a reminder of where she is right now. Her eyes go back to the entrance flap as she thinks on the undead going about their business outside, trying to focus on how friendly they've been. Trying to ignore what they are, and push those nightmares back away. She doesn't speak up in objection to the idea, even speaking up absently as Stray mentions the stew. "...snow hare? Oh...good, that's..."

Still, she's again fallen quiet, drawing on what discipline she can to keep herself together. She was asked outright...part of her duties in the greater world are forging connections to be used (or exploited) in the future...they've been nothing but pleasant so far...

She at least hasn't fainted again yet.

"Old Ben cooks." Stray says. "He's, um...He's the only one of us that died...Old. Um...We don't really...Do...Age here." She says.

As they walk, the group begins to pick things up about the camp- It's the size of a small village, and set up in quarters. There's not a tremendous amount to see, other than another large tent, and another entrance to the mine set up along the mountainside the camp is built along. They get a few friendly hellos from some of the occupants- Some solid, other spectral. Thankfully, it seems that with the exception of things that can't be covered up easily like extremities, there's a rule about covering your wounds up here...Or maybe that's just a revenant thing.

As they walk, the dragonoid keeps an eye on them- Stray occasionally looking at her, before nervously leading them back to her tour of what's mostly storage tents and a few shelters. "That's Bastion." She says. "She seems mean at first...And...At second, and third..."

Stray sighs, after a moment.

Oleai barely had time to respond before Stray, and the rest of the party, were clamoring out of the tent and back into the uncomfortable site. "W.. Wait up!" Oleai calls as she scampers to catch up to everyone else. A mix of cold, exhaustion and hunger having made her muscles stiff. Sitting down for even that little amount of time had her locking up this place and that.

Rasmus' concern had made her smile, and if not for the wind and heavy coat a few times others might've heard her tummy rumbling. Strong muscles and a fast metabolism - not that Oleai had any idea what a metabolism was - meant she spent most of the time hungry. Something quickly dashed at the mention of what was cooking, ".. Snow hare?" She reached up, tugging down on both of her long ears with a frustrated sigh, ".. Do you just have any veggie stew? Beets or something?" Snow hare was leaning painfully close to cannibalism, not to mention a personal reluctance to eat something that acted as your nickname not twelve hours prior.

In a camp full of Undead things. The idea of being dinner was particularly high up on Oleai's list of concerns.

Triya seemed to have gotten over her discomfort, at least to an extent, returning the greetings as they went along. Sana, of course, hadn't had any discomfort to shed in the first place, and was looking about with open, cheerful interest.

Nothing ever seemed to faze her, Triya reflected, and that was something of a comfort. Of course, it did make it difficult to tell whether the sight of a camp full of intelligent revenants was something unusual in her experience or not. Come to think of it, was it unusual for them to eat? It didn't seem like a polite question to ask.

"Oh! No..." Stray says, inching away further. Suddenly one of the ghostly children flickers into existence behind her, putting their hands on her shoulders, making her jump.Stray says nothing, but the ghost continues it's creepy sing-song method of spreaking.

"A lit-tle shy is our lit-tle Stray; she's not been so brave since she ran a-way!"

Stray makes a whimpering noise, scooting away towards the campfire, as the ghost just blips back out of existence.

Rasmus held up his hands again.

"Okay. Go ahead and ask that guy. Old Ben. We'll see you again soon, right?"

He smiled in what he hoped was a comforting way. It probably didn't help that, for a moment, he was glancing around for danger. To him, there had been a somewhat abrupt shift in the camp's mood. A shift that very well could have been only in his mind, but which made him feel even more wary anyway.

Kyrie starts at the sudden appearance of the ghost kid with a slight hiss, for that first instant her heart feeling as though it's about to burst. Just for an instant, though, before she settles; though she hasn't exactly grown used to the sights here, not by far, the utter mundanity of how everyone here's behaved has done much to keep her from having another attack. Seen that way, this isn't anything more than one kid gently teasing another. Even if that kid's an incorporeal spirit.

With a frown, she clenches her fist, her instincts torn between fleeing and empathizing. If slightly, she finally settles on the latter, though her voice still quavers. "...if you don't...would you rather not go alone, Stray? Is that it? Or...is it is?" The idea of an undead being frightened of them strikes her as more than a bit strange, but on some level, it almost feels appropriate.

Watching as Stray runs off, Kyrie actually manages a small laugh. "I...guess it's only fair, hm?" With Stray gone, it's admittedly a little easier to control herself, as nice a kid (revenant) as she is. She watches the bonfire, starting to feel a little settled now, taking in the others around it and trying to force herself into thinking of them as just...people. To get herself in a better frame of mind. So long as they don't...surprise her, they don't rush her, she can feel almost calm with them.

Taking another breath, she slowly releases it, placing herself under as much calm as she can manage right now. "So...should one of us...go talk to this Bastion or Cyrano she mentioned? See...what we can find out about Null?" Her voice still has a shake that she can't seem to get rid of just yet, to her annoyance, but she does her best to at least put on a facade of personal balance.

Guy had been silent for the most part since Cannon had left the tent, apart from exchanging names and a handshake with Sana. He still wasn't completely sure how he felt about the existence of a settlement of revenants, but he'd done his best to keep his thoughts and feelings concealed. Their hosts had been gracious from the first meeting, so if only for the sake of staying in their good graces it only made sense to try to return the gesture. However he wasn't eager to be the one to question Bastion and Cyrano, especially not alone as Kyrie had implied. Of the lot of them Triya seemed to have handled all of this the best so far, and she had Sana to back her up to boot. Definitely better for the job. Certainly not just because he didn't want to volunteer. Yes.

"Well. ... How about Triya and Sana?"

Oleai kept her arms hugged tightly around her midsection, not so much to hold off cold as to try and reduce her profile to these ... unnatural things. Hovering somewhere in the middle of the group for safety, animal instincts seem to take over when we're not paying attention.

"I.. I would go, but I don't think I'm the one for the job.." She trailed off, eyes lingering on the draconic Revanent for a moment longer than she'd have liked. With a start she brought her attention back to the group. Her mind already playing through avenues of escape. Places she could run more easily - and if worse came to worst, she could always ditch the heavy coat and take to the sky. Not that being skybound in this storm was anything less than suicide, it was preferable to being eaten.

With a shudder, Oleai shook the thoughts from her mind. Whispering to herself, "They're not gonna eat you.. they're not gonna eat you."

"...that would probably be safest." Kyrie nods abesntly at Guy's suggestion, glancing over towards the two of them. "Is that all right with you two? I don't think...either of you could be at any risk from...anyone here, really. At least...not if all I've heard about genies is true."

Oleai's whispers perk her attention, and she moves in nearer to her, a slight glance over with a sympathetic eye. "...I don't see any problem with you staying back. We...don't need a lot of people swarming out, right?"

"Oh, I doubt any of us is in any danger," Sana said, sounding perfectly serious for the moment, "But certainly, why not? Less insular huddling in future though, hmm?" she waggled a stern finger at the group. It wouldn't do to let them think they could simply coast by relying on the djinn, after all.

Triya nodded, "We'll see what we can find out," she said, falling in with Sana and strolling towards the person Stray had identified as Bastion. She'd been thinking that they shouldn't all swarm Bastion at once herself, and could hardly complain that she'd been volunteered. Introductions would no doubt be in order, and she intended to emulate Sana's hand-shaking policy.

Taking Stray's introduction as a guide, the Djinn and her master go and introduce themselves to Bastion.

The trick is, Bastion is a 6'2 hunk of (rotting) draconic beef. Like all living dragons, Bastion is fairly muscular, perfect for hauling large, heavy parts and working on machines. Unlike others, she has putrid green scales and hair, and huge gashes all over her body, cuts in her tail, and holes in her wings. She seems a little surprised at the attempt at a handshake, but relents after a moment, thumping her heavy tail on the ground as she narrows her inverted green eyes at the pair. "What do you want?"

"Well," Triya said, taking the initiative, "We heard you might be able to help us. We wound up here because we were looking for someone, you see. An elf woman who lived in a cottage not far from here. We found the place abandoned, with three sets of tracks leading away. One of those sets led us here." She paused to see if Bastion had any comment to make on the subject.

Sana seemed happy enough to let Triya take the lead. Indeed, she was wearing an approving expression.

"And," Triya went on, "Stray mentioned the cabin, that you and Cyrano had been to see the woman living there, and that she'd gone missing. Stray didn't want to say more than that, and we felt we should talk to you about it. As to why we're looking for her, it's because she is, or used to be, Null." Triya had decided there was little point in disguising the reason for their interest in the woman, and tried to be honest in her dealings with people unless there was some reason not to be. Besides which, she suspected Bastion was already well aware of that piece of information.

Bastion's tail thumps heavily on the ground again with barely concealed annoyance. "Yeah, she was connected to Null. Something spooked her and got her running. I couldn't tell you where she went, but if she's smart, she's heading towards Kokoniel and finding a way to get even further out."

Triya nodded thoughtfully, "Do you have any idea what might have spooked her? Strangers prowling about, unusual happenings, that kind of thing?" She and the others certainly qualified as strangers prowling about, but she didn't think they'd given much warning of their arrival on the scene.

Oleai, still huddled near Kyrie nods her head - Able to hear the Dragon-woman-thing speaking, but not wanting to interject at all. She speaks to Kyrie, "Can we.. go back to the tent? I don't wanna be alone here."

She would stand, ears held low and back, hands curled up over her tummy nervously as she wandered back toward the large tent shown to them all earlier. Kyrie in tow.

For a minute or two, Rasmus watched the exchange between Bastion, Triya, and Sana. Bastion in particular. Seeing that Stray had said Bastion always seemed mad, the apparent annoyance wasn't too surprising, though odd nonetheless. When he found himself idly wondering what dragon meat tasted like, Rasmus decided it was time to turn his attention elsewhere.

He decided to move toward the campfire. It was possible Stray would come back around, and also possible there would soon be food to be had in that area. So he meandered toward the fire, inconspicuously evaluating the Revenants nearby as he did so. Not that he expected trouble, but if there were it would pay to know who had a weapon he could take. Or who could pose a threat to him, but that seemed somewhat less likely.

Stopping a safe distance from the fire, Rasmus stopped. Hands in pocket, rocking on his heels a bit, he briefly hummed a single note while looking around again.

"So.. what's up?" he asked none of the Revenants nearby in particular.

"Uh...Nothing." One of the stew-cookers says. "Just preparing the meal...Your Plainsrunner friend wanted straight veggies, right?"

At that exact moment, a young boy with a slightly green pallor stumbles past, clawing at his throat. "Don't eat the food--It's POISON!"

The heavily bandaged cook glares at the kid as he stumbled away, laughing like an idiot. "So," The cook asks, "Where're you headed? Not a lot of reason to be passing through this way."

Triya nodded again, "We'll have to see what we can find come morning," she remarked, "The other sets of tracks will be long gone by now, so I doubt we'll be able to track her down, not easily at least. But we might be able to find whoever spooked her."

"That or they might find us," Sana observed helpfully, "If we've got two groups looking for the same person, we're bound to stumble upon each other."

Rasmus stared at the kid with the green pallor, then broke into a slightly forced wolfish grin before giving the cook a nod.

"Yeah, she did."

He cast a quick glance back toward Bastion and Triya. A little idea occurred to him. With his focus back on the cook, he replied, "I'm headed back for Frostbyte in the morning. I don't know about them. Bastion was talking to that lady there about what they found at the cabin. It's interesting stuff, ya know? S'not really my business though. I'm just a guide."

Rasmus shrugged and gave the cook a look that said, 'Whaddya gonna do?'

Guy had spent a while watching and listening to Bastion and Triya. When it became obvious that the Dragon didn't plan to crush and consume her, Guy gave in to his personal feelings of repulsion and returned to the guest tent. As he went to open the tent flap he was surprised to find Kyrie there, just about to exit.

"Oh, hey there."

Kyrie stops with a start and a light gasp as she nearly runs into Guy, settling once she sees it's not a revenant lurking outside, waiting for her. "Ah...hello. Is everything all right? I figured the rest of you would be out here until nightfall. Nothing's happened, has it?" With a slight frown, she takes a look across the grounds, noting if nothing else that the others are, surprisingly to her, still chatting amiably with some of the locals.

"Wouldn't dream of overstaying our welcome," Sana said, flashing Bastion a smile before continuing thoughtfully, "Well that's not strictly true. You'd be amazed how many people have ridiculously limited hospitality. But anyway, morning's fair enough. Plenty of time to meet everybody, sit around the fire telling stories, that kind of thing. Don't wait up, kiddo," she told Triya, before wandering off to investigate the stew.

Triya shook her head ruefully, "She'll be at it all night," she told Bastion, "She's not really big on sleep."
