James turned to look at Milton and glared at him. He was certain that he could probably take him in a fight, but decided that roughing up one of his team members would not be a good way to start things off.

James then turned to Thirteen. He figured he could probably take her too. She seemed all puffery and theatrics. He then realized that he didn't really have much in the way of weaponry. James then turned and walked away from Thirteen. "We're gonna find her, you know?" he said to her with his back. "We're gonna find her, and we're gonna help her."

Thirteen frowns, and one might get the impression that she was squinting, if her eyes weren't covered. "Very well. But keep in mind, I have warned you. Do not place the blame on me when something terrible happens."

She begins floating up, as a purple vortex appears above her. "With luck...We shall meet again, children of NEXT."

With that, Thirteen flies through her vortex, as it closes behind her. Their wireframe world returns to the representation of the comm-web they were accustomed to just a moment before, and in their computerized minds, the warnings cease.

They are, again, free to do as they wish.

"Okay, THAT was freaky." It was far more than Daniel wanted to think about already, and it was even hard for him to think about exactly how the Anaconda would've handled this situation. "And how the heck did she even know we were looking for a girl in the first place?"

"That might be good. They sent us a dossier update, they might not be sure we're alive now." It seemed an odd thing to report on--saw the thing you know we saw, and are still alive. Not the stuff of great reports, and with that feeling of I-just-wasted-everyone's-time. Milton opted for a shorter, more concise, less intrusive solution: He marked Thirteen's dossier as having been "read."

"Objective accomplished. What's next....er....sir?" he asked, not sure entirely whom he was addressing.

"Regardless, we still need to do our mission and find who we need to find" Agatha said as she recovered her composure from Thirteen's presence.

The group begins to walk, and just as James says "Kitties", the digital city starts to speed past them.

In a moment, they're surrounded by little pink buildings, with posters of, well..Kittens, plastered to all them of them.

In the middle of the pink-stone-paved street sits a girl. Her Wunderkind uniform is a very pastel pink and light green, and her blonde hair is a mess, to say the least. Her back is turned to them. She's sitting crosslegged, and cuddling something from the look of it.

James saw the girl, and turned to the others, smiling confidently. "Hah, told you she'd be here." He then strode over towards her confidently. "Hey, Exey? We're here to take you home!"

Milton, ever prepared for a sudden and unexpected mission success condition, hurried along with James, readying a first aid kit. You never know who might have lost a pint or two of essential bodily fluid, and needs patching up!

As the two boys approach, Exey responds, but probably not in the way one would expect.

She drops whatever she's holding, spinning gingerly, and falling to all fours, like an animal. Now that she's turning, they can see that her eyes are wild and feral, and that her teeth come to jagged, nasty points. Her gloves, instead of ending in nice, comfortable fingers, point off into wicked talons. Finally, she raises her head at the two, looking wildly back and forth...And barks?

"Arr! Arrarr! Raar! Rarararr!"

"Whoa," James said, putting up his hands, "Definitely not what I'm expecting here..." James backed away from the girl, his hands in the air before him. "Hey there, uh, doggy... girl... thing... We're not here to hurt you. Just want to help get you home." James then whispered back to the other two, "You two have any food?"

In all his preparations, Milton had forgotten to bring a field dentistry kit. That would have to wait, and now he would know some other things to get from The Closet for later missions.

For now, Exey, their mission target, was clearly in a disease state, her parameters well out of spec. She would have to be altered, she would have to be repaired.

It was time to go to work.

But the patient was showing no fewer than six signs of being uncooperative, which made her eligible for the Difficult Patient doctrine. Without looking, he drew a syringe of Wunderkind-specific anesthetic from one of his bags, and held it in front of him like a weapon. The words he said as he advanced were flat, scripted, emotionless; stated like facts, like demands. "Easy now. It'll be okay. This'll only hurt for a moment. I know you're scared but you have to do this."

Exey rears back, taking an animalistic defensive stance and growling with her comically high pitched voice.

"Uh...I'm starting to wonder if she was actually a kid when they changed her." El says, scratching at her mask. "Either way, they don't pay us enough for this crap."

James immediately jumped to his feet and rushed over to Milton's side, trying to hold him off and keep him from poking either Exey or him with the needle. "Whoa, whoa! Milton, put that down! We don't need to stick her with anything. We just need to talk to her!" James then held up his hand towards Exey in a calming manner. "Hey, Exey, it's alright! We're trying to help you."

It was really hard to figure out WHAT to think about this one. I mean, is this a girl, or did someone send in their dog and not tell us? "Okay, this is honestly weirding me out a little, guys." says Daniel. "I wonder, though... is this gonna be just a really odd day or a normal one?"

Milton was on the job. He knew what he had to do, and James didn't seem to be making any progress with his alternative methods. "This is trinitrohoxycillin-S. It's an anesthetic which metabolizes in Wunderkind models within sixty to ninety minutes, within two standard deviations either side. It won't hurt her, but its effects will render her unable to demonstrate further aggression towards us, which is the third step in protocol in dealing with difficult patients. I was trained to do this. I am going to do this. I am the best one of us to do this." He pulled his arm forward, attempting to loose himself from James's grip so he could administer the dosage and the team could complete the mission.

After getting free of the others, Milton manages to approach Exey well enough to only get a slight growl, and a yelp as he sticks her.

Almost immediately she looks groggy, before falling forward, landing on her face. Whatever that stuff was, it knocked her right out.

Now, all the kids need to do is pack her up and go home.

James made sure to carry Exey as carefully as he could, making sure that she was comfortable. Once that was done, James looked to the others. "Well, then, I guess it's time to head back." He then led the way back to Wunderkind HQ.

Transporting Exey is easy enough, especially through the Comwebb. The kids don't run into any more trouble on their way back to the Commons.

When they get there, they see the other group has already returned. Vi gives them a dirty look, and everyone's assembled again. Exey is taken to the Infirmary, but even without here, there's one new boy in attendance, with shaggy grey hair, and a black and silver suit. "This is Leo." Vi says uncerimoniously. "He's like Exey- New. Treat him that way."

Leo shakes his head irritatedly. "Whatever."

Vi shoots him a glare, before looking back over her assembled team once again. "Any more questions, fore we break for the night? Or do you all just wanna get back to whatever the hell you were doing before you got put to work?"

It's a good thing Milton was already distracted by some odd thing or another, because treating Leo like he treated Exey might result in wacky hijinks. And that would just be unprofessional--more so, even, than his dazed stare and decided lack of any sort of respectful discipline in front of a superior.

"Nah," James replied, "I'm good. Easy enough mission, though we did meet up with that Thirteen fellah. Very over the top and big on the whole dramatic entrance thing. No big deal, though."

Vi's expression darkened at the mention of Thirteen. "Listen to the database. Don't mess with her until we're ready. She's tryin' to screw us up for some reason and V--Uh, WE need to know why."

She turned, swinging her hand angrily. "If that's all, get the hell out of my sight!"

El mumbles something, then stands and begins walking away. The other random children do the same after a moment.

James shrugged. Vi seemed to be a bit more upset about Thirteen that he thought she needed to be, but hey, they got the job done. He kind of wanted to go and see Exey, though. He was curious who she was, and why she was so feral. He went off to wander about and try and find out where Exey had been taken.

Mission: 02- Ship-Shape
Location: Unknown.
June 20th, 3756
12:30 PM.

Several days after their encounter with Thirteen, another meeting has been called. The children are meant to be at the Commons by 1:00 PM, Database time. It is apparently a big deal, given that the orders are marked extra urgent.

Already gathered are the twins, El and Katey, along with Exey. Katey is, simply enough, sitting on one of the couches, reading a book. El, on the other hand, is screaming bloody murder and trying to run from Exey, who's barking at her and chasing her on all fours.

Milton, meanwhile, appears to have found himself a nice endtable to hide behind as Exey chases her mark, tensing his every muscle when the two pass too near for comfort, ready to scramble for safety if there's any danger at all of them brushing up against any simulated air within five simulated feet of him.

"Out of the way!" came a voice suddenly and through the doors to the meeting room came... some kind of tornado. A kid with yellow hair (blonde just didn't cut it), skinny like some kind of stretch armstrong and with a light gray and dark red wunderkind outfit that looked just a tad bit too big, even though they were supposed to be form-fitting. The kid had intensive blue eyes, wide and semi-shocked, semi-thrilled at the incredible speed he came boosting through the door at.

In fact, his legs were boosting indeed, a pair of XLR8 boots whooshed as he literally crashed into Exey, toppling through the air, somersaulting and landing with a loud thud on the table. His boots still on, he literally glided across the long table, leaving a deep track in the data behind him, before he flipped over once more, crashing loudly into the wall.

The boosting system kept thrumming for a while more before they died down, and the kid slipped to the floor, landing upside down with limbs splayed everywhere.

"Uh... hi, howd'ya do? Yeah, uh... I'm Zaft, Gene Zaft, call me Eugene and I'll punch ya. Yeah!" He flipped over pretty easily, moving remarkably like a monkey, actually standing on his hands before he pushed himself off, landing on his feets, wincing.

"Wow, how do you guys get used to this? Damn." He whistles and looks at the mayhem he's caused, grinning a little. "So, I'm your new... uh... what wassit... uh... light combat specialist, yeah!"

James had been walking to the meeting room when Gene had gone flying by. He watched as he went flying into the room, then crashed. He shook his head a little, but walked into the room. "Nice crash landing," James said, finding a place to sit and wait for the meeting to start.

Gene was all up in James' face in a second, puffing his cheeks and prodding the headband on his forehead (holding back some of his wild hair), the white cloth showing a strange symbol printed on it in gold and black.

"I didn't crash! You know who I am? You know what this means, yeah?" he was poking the headband with his index-finger repeatedly. "This means I don't crash, I did the Wukong stretch in 1 minute and 31 seconds!"

He puffed out his chest, looking utterly pleased with the beatdown he'd given, before opening one of his eyes, giving James a look... James, who had gotten over to sit somewhere.

"I'm here to save you guys' asses, yeah! Figured I'd get the drop on those G-Men spooks with some secret training, know what I mean?" He beamed, somersaulting up on the table again, before skipping down, twirling on his heel and slipping down backwards on one of the seats, looking smug. "Ain't no one get the drop on Gene Zaft."

He would've said Zoom there. In fact, there seemed to be some kind of... bubble on reality, a missing "zoom", and it hovered in the air for a while before it went away, awkward and embarrassed about having blown its chance to make it to the big-leagues.

James watched the antics of the newcomer, but he was not amused. If anything, he was quite annoyed by Gene. He stood up and walked over to Gene, standing over him, and he looked him straight in the eye. "You're here to save us?" He looked him up and down a few times, then laughed in his face.

Gene looked back in the other kids' eyes, puts his hands on his hips and nodded, "Ayup."

Then James laughed, and Gene's grin turned into a frown, "You don't look so tough, yeah. Wanna beatin'? C'mon big-guy, think you're tough, yeah?"

He put up his fist in a mock-fighting pose, shifting from leg to leg with the same grin returning to his face.

Milton popped out from behind his seat-barricade to announce loudly, "No fighting in the common room!!" As an afterthought, he added, "I like his shoelaces!!" without changing tone or volume.

He resumed hiding.

"He's right, you know." Katey says, not even bothering to look up from her book- Probably a digital copy, the way things worked here. "Vi'll have a fit if you do."

For the moment, with being plowed into, Exey seems to have forgotten who she was chasing and barking at.

Gene gave the other two kids a look, seemed to calm down instantly and grinned to James, giving him a knuckle-tap in the chest playfully.

"Yeah, you wanna try to tackle the Zaft later, I'm all up-ons, y'know!" he bounced on the heel of his feet before he suddenly remembered something and snuck up to Exey.

"Hey, uh, sorry for slammin' into ya." He held out his hand, not really looking sorry, just speeded.
