(OOC: I think it's reasonable to say that NQ's character left, since otherwise it would hold the RP way too much...)

Not realizing just how fucking stupid he just made himself look (not that he wasn't stupid anyway), the Hero continued to happily pick up carcasses, which he would later cook. Meanwhile, as he collected them and then (after putting them in the bag, of course) while walking towards the capital, he said...

Hero: Why are you coming with me anyway?

... Not that he really suspected anything, he was too dumb for that.

Hero: GOOD! Now, let's go to the capital! Not like we REALLY have to eat, or it's not like food ever rots, so I'll cook whenever I can!

With that, he went straight towards, and into, the capital... Capitalville!

FL: "Hi! Would you like to buy a flower? It's only 2 gyrupee!" The NPC/Female lead grinned happily

MCG watched the interactions of the not quite so plain NPC and the rather 'slow' man fighting with her.

MCG:IM: Well, either he's someone's mindless lackey... or he's some kind of co-hero.

And such began the tale of the Hero's first endevour into the first city. What he noted first, was that even though it was the main city, it barely consisted of more than eight roads that you could run from one side to the other of in 5 seconds flat... And that everyone, everyone, was just the same as back home, walking around or staying still, but always repeating the same line.

"Welcome to Capitalville!"

"Have you tried the pub yet? It's the best around!"

"I heard that the Village of Destiny has been razed to the ground!"

... ... No-one really said anything useful. As even the Hero was understanding that there was nothing to be gained there, he spotted a woman, a woman who amazingly was not wearing the same thing as the others (not to mention that her chest was bigger than any NPCs). In her arm was a basket of flowers, and he had... a strange feeling.

Some people describe love as a magnetic feeling towards the other... Others describe it as seeing a choir of angels all around the person who you have fallen in love with... In the Hero's case, it was more like a relief that someone's different, and a huge smell of plot device. There was a feeling in his stomach, but that was probably hunger. After seeing the woman, he walked towards her, and went to, finally, talk to her.

Hero: Um... Hi?

FL: "HI!"

The female lead then began to stare at the hero, that kind of stare that pretty my shouted the fact that she had found hre one and only soulmate! The man she was destined with to be until the end of time! The prince on his white stallion! THe knight in shining armor!

FL: "My name is...."

And thus, the player's mind was boggled.

The Hero himself had no name so far, he never knew it, and everyone seemed to know that he is the chosen one by... whatever, and thus called him Hero.

The mysterious cloaked figure... Was too mysterious. Same for that other girl...

... ... ... Which is when the player gave up and named her the default "Kate".

" ...Kate! It' so nice to meet you!"

And thusly having been named, the NPC clearly wasn't an NPC anymore, but bearing the title of "PARTY MEMBER!"

"What brings you to Capitalville?"

The ARV stalked closer to Kate and The Hero, slowly trying to take his chance to have an impact on the story...Wait, scince when did an NPC even have free will enough to care about making impact on the story?....The ARV brushed the thought off and continued inching closer....

Inexplainably, the Hero drew his sword and pointed it at the woman. Or rather, who was behind her. Now, this would be normally considered an action of madness and violence.

But no-one ever, ever, argues with the Hero's decision of drawing his sword. No matter how random it seems, it will always be for some reason...

But the woman still had a sword pointed practically at her, just over her shoulder. Poor girl.

"Holy crap!" the not-an-NPC exclaimed, "Don't point that at me, you freaken psycho!"

And as abruptly as the new character had joined the party, she just as quickly LEFT and RAN LIKE HELL from the hero/psycho.

The ARV watched Kate run, and decided it would be now or never. He quickly turned and began running after her, in an attempt to either become part of the story, or at least a little more than an NPC.

And so, was the Hero very surprised. Why would anyone be surprised or scared if the hero draws his sword? As long as they were NPCs, or at least not villains...

Ah well. She still was not a villain, and that man was following her. Therefore, trying to keep the drama levels high, he ran after the man, yelling out, to the woman:

"Watch out! Behind you!"

The ARV could only curse his luck. That sort of line, when used to refer to him, would be more damning then the greatest of sins. He'd be labeled a villian. Now and forever, just one of the bad guys. Destined to lose and probably return for more, untill the game was almost over, in which case he'd either give up or be killed....

Wait, game? What game?

"...what?"

Being the female lead, she was obligated to respond to the hero's cries by turning her head and looking over her shoulder at her pursuer. Of course, this meant she had to follow through with the union dictated consequence of looking over her shoulder while running, which meant the next step she took, she tripped and fell flat on her face.

".....ow."

The ARV quickly skidded to a halt by Kate, and held a hand twards the hero-

"Stop now, unless you want me to demonstrate my awesome...Uh...Powers...On you!"

And thus, the Hero readied his sword, but did not move at all, afraid that, of course, he would kill the female lead...

"Hey, wait a minute..."

The Hero thought for a second, before replying:

"You have no awesome powers! You're an annoying repetitive enemy!"

... Duh.

The ARV sighed. He'd obviously have to address the problem of the wouldbe 'hero' before doing much else. Though dealing with this bag of meat given sentience wouldn't be horribly difficult, he didn't think.

"Look, if I'm just an annoying reoccuring villian, how come I havn't started fighting you yet? And my name is ALL wrong for an annoying reoccuring villian. I mean, c'mon, Chris? What the hell kind of name is that? "Surrender now, or fall before the power of the almighty Chris!" It's crap. Utter crap. Oh, and by the way- YOINK!"

And with that, "Chris" took off after Kate. Annoying Reoccuring Villian needs to get his kidnap on eventually, y'know.

"um... Erm...

And so the hero said, finally running after the annoying recurring villain, sword in hand, and nothing between his ears!

Once again, the hero took chase. He knew the female grab area meant that the hostage was now unable to do anything. Even if she were a ninja or whatever.

So he ran, to save her like the hero he was. Until...

Hero: Heeeyy! Look! That shop has a sword sign on it! W00t! It's a weapon shop!

... And so was the hero's attention deviated to the weapons shop, where he bought weapons and armor for both himself and the cloaked figure using money he got from the ...

Narrator: Wait, the rabbits...? Oh, whatever! *gives up on common sense*

But then, was he ready to continue to follow! And he did!

Hero: Oooohhhh, a chest!

D'oh!

Chris also watched the Hero for a minute, before adding his own two cents-

"What, he got ADD or something? Or is he just that dumb? What the hell is his Intelegence stat!?"

Realising this was his chance, he looked to the left, then to the right, then when he made sure that no one (Or maybe everyone) was watching, he snatched Kates hand and began running. To where? Who knows. But the way he saw things, it didn't really matter at the moment anyway.

*OMG PLOT DEVICE*

Unread postby FF Fanatic 80 » Sun Sep 21, 2003 11:38 am

MCG watched the antics of the hero, sighing to himself. Ducking out of sight of the party in a nearby alley, he once again hopped onto his magic communication device.

"...yeah, Garry? Yes, some other idiot's trying to kidnap a party member. No... I don't know why the hero hasn't stopped him yet. Yes, I suspect brain damage is involved somewhere.

...Kill them now? Are you insane? The whole point of this plan is to leech off these guys going to far out of the way places during their heroic journey to fuel my own plans of world domination.

...Look I don't care how whiney the airship guy is being, just... get him a bagel or something. Anyway, I need 3 of our bigger, stupider minions down here to keep this guy busy, OK? Good"

MCG stepped out of the alley, waiting until he saw a telltale flash of light before the annoying man running off with the woman. Then, in his most meak, overly dramatic voice called out.

"OH NO!!! SOME MONSTERS HAVE COME TO STOP HIM AND KIDNAP KATE!!! =O"

"Huh? What? Monsters? Where?"

That was the hero's reply as he finally heard the voice after FINALLY turning back to continue chasing the ARV.

"Hey, mister cloak guy, what's this about monsters? You know anything about them? "

"Erm... I mean..."

"OH NO! NOT MONSTERS TRYING TO STEAL KATE!"

So, anyway, the hero finally went to confront the man. And the monsters. To save the girl.
