World Travelers

Unread postby bunnygirle78 » Sat Aug 09, 2003 10:29 pm

"I cast to yee to the fires. .. Come forth and bend to the will of . ..That be steal. .. That be iron. . ."

This. . ..broken. . .come. . . .far."

May bolted awake, her face wet with sweat and strangely enough tears. She wiped her face on her sheet and stared out of her window. The moon was rising slowly threw the sky, and a cloud was trailing it making it appear as if the moon had smudge the stars.

She let out a sigh, her mind rapt and focused on something that she was slowly beginning to forget. She lay back down.

"What the hell woke me up?" She said putting a hand on her forehead.

The sound of loud laughter reached her ears, causing her to sneer and toss her stuffed frog at the door. Her Aunt was having one of her many up all-night parties, and like always she was forgetting to keep the slurred conversations down.

"No more chili cheese fries for me," May said staring up at her ceiling.

Her eyes began to droop as a soft breeze came threw her open window, blowing an oddly shaped Mobil around.

(ooc. It’s started. It will get better. Promise.)

Izumi awoke with a start, sitting bolt upright with eyes wide and shivering despite the fact that it wasn't really cold tonight. She ran one trembling hand through her two-toned hair in order to clear away some of the wisps of white that dangled over her face, the other clutching her black comforter in a vice-grip. The Hell had that been anyway? Whatever kind of dream she'd been having before now, it must have been above and beyond the call of creepy if it could get her *this* scared. Funny thing was that the more she thought about it, the less she remembered, which annoyed her to no end.

With an exasperated sigh, she released her hold on her blanket, flopping back down on her left side with the intention to go back to sleep. Unfortunately, even though she closed her eyes she just found herself laying there awake, unable to drift off again due to her nagging thoughts about whatever it was that had woken her up.

If it hadn't been the middle of the night, she'd have spouted some profanity at the top of her lungs right now.

Instead, she fumbled around in the dark --not that much light to see by, as she always had her shades drawn-- until she found her headphones, slipped them on and proceeded to listen to music that most wouldn't consider conducive to sleep. Izumi however, well, that was another story.

Nash awoke abruptly and immediately found himself sitting up in his old futon bed. He was breathing heavily and from the looks of it, had been sweating quite a bit. "What the hell WAS that?" the words from his nightmare still ringing in his head. He looked around his room, yep... everything was in order, everything was just the way he had left it.

He exhaled deeply and looked out his window. Recently the shade on his window had broken off, and he hadn't had the time nor the willingness to fix it. So his room was well lit by the moonlight. He checked his clock, it was still too early to be up.

Nash leaned back onto his bed, and looked up at the ceiling. He sighed as he turned over, and attempted to get back to sleep...

Through the little house a thump was heard in a small room in the back. Sharon sat up on the wooden floor, in a tangled mess of sheets, PJ's, and dangling limbs. The moonlight playing between her blinds, just peeking into her hidyhole of a room. This was her place, where she always felt safe.

"Well,..." she said aloud "at least I had a dream again. Though that one was the oddest." An involuntary shiver ran down her spine, and she grabbed for the throw at the end of her daybed. She looked about her room and everything was still in place, though she didn't feel right staying in there. Sharon crossed through her door and went for a glass a milk to help her go back to sleep.

'I don't get it. Actually I don't remember much ... but there was a voice...I think...maybe... I don't know. What's this?' She thought to herself as she walked down the hallway and noticed she was soaked from head to toe in sweat. 'This can't be good, this can't be right' She tried to stay calm but she split milk all over the counter because her hands were shaking so much. Sharon crossed to the living room and seated herself into a chair facing a large window.

The glass of milk had been finished for a while, and a glass of water soon followed. But no matter what she did or drank, she could not shake the remaining feelings the odd dream had left within her soul.

As the town slept, there were still many awake. Most were across town in the park, where many workers toiled to finish there project.

Tents were going up, the food stands had been well stocked and the rides were already being tested for flaws. They were behind schedule, and worked fast to put up the finishing touches.

"No. . that goes over by the Spider." Shouted the forman. "This is always a scrap. I thought for sure we would done by now."

No one noticed the strange tent that had seeming arrived out of nowhere, and even more strange, the tent was emitting a soft glow.

It had been about 3 am when Sharon got up, it now being 5 she decided to go for a walk and see the sunrise. She walks back to her room and slip on some clothes for the day.

Leaving a note for her parents, she heads out of the house and starts her way towards the city park. It was a little cool, but she warmed herself up by jogging the last half of the way. Once in the park she notices the fair is in town. A smile crosses Sharon's face and she wonders over to the edge of the fenced in wonderland of lights and thrills.

Nothing was on yet, but she could have easily placed lights on all the rides and booths. But something odd caught her eyes ... there were lights in a tent, but the workers were not around the area. The glow seemed a but unnatural, and subconsciously she climbed over the fence, wanting a closer look.

On the other side of the fence, Sharon began to search for the light, but in the process became distracted as the carnival lights flooded the scene. Wondering about she entered a fun house, and looked into all the odd shaped mirrors. Laughing at herself when her blue jeans shorts reached her ears and how her hair no longer looked tucked behind her ears but flaying all over the place. Her light brown tank top flowed up and down, and stretched from side to side making her look larger than a cow. Her skin changed from it's slightly tanned looked to a sickly green to an ocean blue as she ventured through the rest of the house. When she emerged on the other side the sun was up, and seemed the day would be full of interesting sights and sounds.

(ooc: Lost this is a good post but don't forget that you need to post your reaction to the dream. Thanks. Ps. I am going to go ahead and make it morning. How you find the flyer is up to you. )

The morning came slowly, like it often did in the city. It seemed odd though, that the morning would come so slowly. Often times the city was so alive with people that it seemed that morning was always and forever, never ending and always there.

The wind blew threw the open window, waking May. She sat up and rubbed her eyes, which seemed to refuse to open. She didn't bother to look out the window on this slow morning, she often did but today, her mind was on other things.

If she had bothered to look, she might have noticed the sky, which seemed to be blocked by the thick clouds. There was more to the sky though, on this slow morning it seemed to just end. The clouds fell around the city, seemingly becoming a wall. Impassable, no way in . . . . no way out.

May walked threw the house in a daze; carefully stepping over her aunt’s outstretched hand. She had passed out again, this time; at least she was wearing cloths.

Walking threw the streets, the city was slowly crawling to life, but the people looked odd. There faces were quant, as if they had not slept. May felt the same way, tired, and not willing to really do anything.

Come to think of it, why was she out? School was out for a week while the plumbing was being redone, and she didn't have any where else she wanted to be.

She leaned against a bus sigh and stared at the schedule that had been posted on the pool.

She just wanted to do something; boredom was a common thing in the city.

Her eyes shifted slightly as something bright and neon caught her eyes.

It was taped sloppily to the side of a mail box, and it seemed to be torn. But it was still readable.

COME TO THE CARNIVAL OF SIGHTS. AMAZING THINGS TO BEE SEEN. SEE THE MAN WITH NO FEET, NO HANDS, AND NO EYES. SEE THE LIZARD BOY.

FREE FOR ALL THE FIRST DAY.

May crossed her arms and sighed as she ripped the flyer from the post box.

"Nothing else to do, so why not." She said as the bus pulled up behind her. She got on, nearly falling off thanks to a fat woman with five bags.

At least the slow morning was off to a small start.

(ooc. If you want you can find your flyer. Do not jump ahead though. Don't go strait to the tent once you get there; think about things you would do if you were at a carnival. Each of you can make up an event or game if you like.)

Nash got up from his slumber, already the small incident last night caught up with him. He felt like shit, and slowly got himself into the shower. Thankfully this time he remembered to take off his clothes.

Nash knew how he had to wake himself... and he didn't want to do it. But he had to get himself up some way. He turned on the cold, and increased it close to the highest point. Then he clicked on the shower lever.

Instantly, ice cold water beat down onto his back. The result was obvious. "HOLY SHIT!!! THAT'S COLD!!!" he gasped through clenched teeth, already waking up.

He took a deep breath, and turned down the temperature on the nozzle. It was now alot more warmer kind of cold. The kind he didn't mind.

A few minutes later, Nash got out of the shower. He quickly dried off and got dressed, he was wearing a dark grey shirt. The shirt in question has some old engine oil steins on it, and quite a number of holes. His dusty old jeans hung up around his waist with his favorite leather belt. Yeah he was ready for the day... or so he hoped.

Nash plodded out the door, his mother still asleep. He was retrieving the morning paper, as usual. Something was different about this morning. Cause this morning, there was a large neon paper sign taped on his mail box.

"What the hell is this" he asked as he walked towards it. He hoped it wasn't some notice from an insurance company, cause his mother was already close to paying off one of their debts. Nash tore it off and read it.

"Come to the Carnival of Sights. Amazing things to bee seen. See the Man with No Feet, No Hands, and No Eyes. See The Lizard Boy?" he read as his eyes flashed across the piece of paper. He grunted, scratched his head and picked up the newspaper; which happened to be there next to the mail box, as he turned towards his front door.

The young man tossed the paper and sign on the kitchen table as he walked towards a cupboard. A single glass cup met his sights. Nash pulled it out as he walked towards the fridge. A cup of orange juice sounded pretty good at that moment.

The juice carton was almost empty, Nash knew he'd have to go to the store today. After sitting down in a chair, he took a look at the sign again.

IM:Hmmm... haven't been to one of those in a long time. Gotta check my list first.

Nash turned around and plucked down an old clipboard. "Let's see... that starter replacement won't be in till tomorrow, and Mr. Domanada's chevy isn't due till this Weekend. Yeah... I guess I could take a small little break. On the way to the grocery store." he said as he leaned back to take a drink of OJ...

Izumi would have liked to sleep until eleven, maybe twelve, especially after getting that dream that kept her up for a good hour despite laying in the dark with her eyes closed and her headphones on. However, this was not to be. She'd neglected to lock her door the previous night when she'd gone to bed, so her mother came in, took one look at her sleeping daughter...

..and flung the drapes wide open, flooding the room with sunlight. Izumi hissed and yanked the covers over her head in a vain effort to avoid the inevitable. The inevitable of course being made to get out of bed right now.

"Rise and shine, honey!", the woman chirped, pulling the covers back. "It's a beautiful day, and you shouldn't waste it sleeping!". With that she left the room, humming gaily to herself. Her daughter glared after her for a moment, mind still very much fogged, before sighing in exasperation, sliding out of bed and plodding down the hall.

Grumbling something about people who were disgustingly cheery during the morning hours and how they should all die horribly, she sulked off to the bathroom to brush her teeth, shower and perform the rest of the obligatory morning regime. Once that was done she trudged back to her room to get dressed. Might as well go out, since if she lingered about when her mom was in one of *these* moods, the woman might decide the three of them needed some "Family Bonding Time". Izumi *hated* Family Bonding Time, especially when it interrupted her sleep. Today's outfit consisted of a black satin corset, a long, poofy black taffeta skirt, black and white striped stockings, and black combats. A black lace collar around her throat and matching wristbands and there you go. On to fixing her hair. Izumi picked up a brush and a pair of long, thin dark purple ribbons from her dresser, brushed her hair out and wound it tightly into odangoes, securing these with the ribbons. Now for makeup: white powder all over her face to make herself look nice and corpselike, thick black liner around the eyes followed by smudgy dark grey shadow for that sunken-in look, black mascara and black lipstick. As an afterthought, she added a little trickle of fake blood by the corner of her mouth. Admiring herself a moment, Izumi giggled. Cute, yet scary. It'd disturb people alright. Grabbing her walkman and cartoony purple bat-shaped backpack, she headed downstairs. Her mother and father were sitting at the table, and despite the quick flash of dislike in her mother's eyes at her daughter's appearance, she quickly hid it as Izumi walked to the door.

"So where are you going, honey?"

"Out."

"Out where?"

"Just out. Be back later.", she said, heading out the door before her mom could continue asking. A brightly-colored flyer attached to the mailbox caught her eye and she tore it off, giving it a quick read. "Carnival, huh? Might as well go. It's something to do at least..."

With that she crumpled it up, slipped on her headphones and walked down to the corner to wait for the bus, her white-bleached bangs falling into her face as they often did.

Blue awoke.

It was morning, although nothing of Blue's room would be an indication of this fact - no light entered his room. His windows were covered with pieces of paper duct taped to the walls and glass. He lay on his back, holding a teddy bear.

"I think my bad dream means something," he said. "What does today hold for us, Mr. Bear?" With that, Blue held his teddy up and stared into its "eyes".

He soon descended out of bed and removed his pajamas. His room had a disturbing look to it - the walls were covered with stuffed animals and plushes. They littered all surfaces except his floor, and they all appeared to be smiling. Blue took some new clothes out of his dresser and placed his pajamas in the hamper. He was neat. *Very* neat. After strapping on the backpack Mr. Bear rode inside and placing his animal-ear cap on his head, he prepared to face the world.

Mrs. Russell was preparing breakfast when Blue slowly descended the stairs. His movement, as was often the case, was placid. As he sat down, Mr. Bear held tightly in his arms, his father lowered the newspaper he was reading and attempted, with a slight feeling of apprehension, to communicate with his son.

"Anything wrong, Blue?"
"You didn't protect me. Satan entered my dreams."

Mr. Russell sighed and directed an exasperated look at his wife. They were used to this. However, what had happened was unusual for Blue - in the middle of the night he had awoken, suddenly, sweating. As Mr. Russell stared into Blue's gaze of pure apathy he had no way of knowing that Blue, that night, was genuinely scared.

Blue sat up. "I'm going." His parents offered no objection as he placed Mr. Bear into his backpack and walked out the door.

As he headed down the street he removed a flyer from his pocket - "The Carnival," Blue spoke out loud. In his mind he imagined the games of skill and the prizes of hundreds of stuffed animals.

"Friends."

Humming to herself, Sharon paces herself in walking around the stands. She sees plenty of games and a few people walking methodically around. "OOooo....that looks like fun..." and she trecks off to a twenty foot ring with a rocket type cage which blast you around the circle. Strapping in she waits as others slowly join the ride...

Kane awoke with a start. Looking at his hand, he saw that it was shaking violently. "Just a dream... just a dream..." He tried to reassure himself.
Funny, he never seemed to remember his dreams after waking, but this one... He shivered again just thinking about it. Looking around his room, he saw his dinner from last night. "See if I ever order pizza from them again."
Terror still enveloped him as he took a shower, ate something, and put some money in his wallet. College, work, it was all so boring. He needed something exciting... while reading his newspaper, a flyer fell out of the pages, as if it was yelling READ ME! Complying with the request, Kane read the following: COME TO THE CARNIVAL OF SIGHTS. AMAZING THINGS TO BEE SEEN. SEE THE MAN WITH NO FEET, NO HANDS, AND NO EYES. SEE THE LIZARD BOY.
"Heh, sounds like a tabloid carnival. Oh well, today's classes aren't all that important, and I have some sick days left, so I think I'll check it out. Or rent a movie."

Arriving at the carnival, Kane noticed a tent with a glowing light inside it. It caught Kane's attention for a moment, but he moved on quickly. No one was near the tent, so it was either off limits or boring. Kane wandered among the booths and games, searching for something exciting...

(ooc: Ok this is where you meet your guide to the tent. I am introducing them to you only. Its up to you to find you way to the tent. But the only thing is the guide won't stick around.)

May walked threw the small crowd and stared at the large fairswheel infront of her. It looked rickety and seemed to shake as it went around.

The people around her looked the same, each had an odd gaunt look about them, and they seemed to sulk along as they walked. There arms hung to their side, and they passed the attractions as if they weren't there.

May sighed. She noticed things, things most people seemed to overlook. She herself was feeling odd and tired.

"Its. . .time." Said an erie voice.

May spun around and saw a small girl, dressed in a frilly blue dress. She was staring at May, her eyes empty. In her right hand she held a pink balloon, that moved as she walked towards May.

"Uh. . .are you lost." May asked looking around. She gasped when she saw that everyone was gone.

"Its nearly time." She said again.

"Uh? What?"

"Time. . .time. . .its nearly time."

May jumped back as the girl faded and disappeared. May stared blankly forward as the world came to life agin, only this time the people were laughing and playing as if nothing had happened.

May looked around, completely freaked out by what she had seen. As her head turned the pink balloon drifted down the path of games and towards a lone tent, that was being passed by many.

May followed it, not knowing why.

____________
For Izumi
____________

Your music suddenly warps, and you here threw the static.

"Time. . .time. . .nearly time."

__________
For Blue
__________

When you reach a game stand you see stuffed teddy bears. The world around you seems to freeze, and to your surprise all around you vanish.

"Time. . .nearly time." All of the glass eyes glint at you and one of the stuffed toys begin to speak.

"Time. . .nearly time."

_________
For Sharon
_________

As you star at the cage someone steps up next to you. It is a tall man who appears to be very pale.

"Time. . .nearly time." he says and then disapears.

"Hey now!"... This is absolutely insane!... Sharon thought to herself. The small amount of noises faded as the people in the rides and playing games disappeared with the sounds. "Oh wait a second...this isn't right ... hey you!" She called after the pale man as he began to walk away from her. No no no no NO! this isn't real ... this is too crazy to be real ... it's a dream, another of my crazy dreams ... that has to be it. So I bet if I follow that man I can get this done and over with. she pondered. "Ok...this is just a dream..." and Sharon began to follow the man through the park.

The balloon that May was following drifted onward, and as she kept her eyes on it she failed to notice a small boy.

"WHOOA," she said as she accidently ran into him and falling on the ground.

"Ow," she said rubbing her head. "Oh Sorry dude," she said quickly going to help him up. "Wait. . .your here!" She said with a smile. "At least there's another person here she said smiling and helping him up.

"Uh. . .I am so sorry for running into you. . .and over you like that."

"What a cute teddy bare."

Blue dusted himself off, then picked his little friend off the ground and, apparently unsure of how to respond, replied, "...thanks."

He looked around, taking in the scenery. "This isn't... 'normal', is it?" His gaze traveled upward to the teenaged girl standing before him. "There are some other people over there," pointing in a vague direction. And then, with a small hint of child in his voice, "what's going on?"

Nash had been following the stranger when he suddenly got knocked into from behind.

Now Nash had been creeped out this entire time so far, so someone (or something) knocking into is bound to cause a spontaneous reaction.

Which it did....

"HOLY SHIT!!!" He cried out, almost jumping out of his skin, as he spun around to meet his "attacker". It was a girl, looking maybe a year or two younger than he was.

Nash let out a deep sigh, "Whew. Finally met someone else. But damn, did you scare me." he said through deep breaths, regaining his composure.

Upon a quick glance to his sides, the young Pliscin asked "Any idea what the fuck is going on?" as he looked into the girl's Dark Hazel Brown eyes.

May stoped short as she heard a shout. She could see two peopel in the distance and smiled at Blue.

"HAY!" She called out waving her arms. "YOu two real?!"

She then blushed.

"Uh. . .that didn't soud to crazy. . .did it?" She said smiling at blue.

Blue shrugged. With what had happened so far seeming comparatively insane would be a difficult feat indeed.

"My name is Blue," he said, silently indicating his clothes' monochromatic color scheme. And then, looking in Izumi and Charon's general direction, "Mr. Bear thinks we meet them." He grabbed May's hand with the arm not holding his friend and started to drag her in that direction.

and they all meet...

A tinge of red sneaks onto Sharon's cheeks as she says "I am so very sorry about that... I was trying to catch up with the sick looking guy but he walked really fast ... so ... I kinda started to run ... and .... yeah"

Then she realized she had heard someone else yell in the past 10 seconds. Looking about she say another girl about her age and a young boy In all blue? carrying a teddy bear heading there way. "Oh wow! There's more people, this is great!" Whirling around to the guy she had ran into she introduced herself "I'm Sharon" and she offered her hand in a friendly manner smiling all the while.

Nash took her "Name's Nash... Nash Pliscin. Pleasure to meet you Sharon." he said as he gave her hand a firm shake. He turned towards the oncoming company.

IM:Good to see some more people indeed.

May waved back.

"Hay," she said waving. "Names May. "

May stopped short and stared past Nash. She stared blankly at it.

"Damn thats freaky." She said staring at the small balloon that was now hovering a few feet away above the ground.

(what everyone else sees)

Instead of seeing a baloon you see the person or thing you were follow standing a few feet away.

Following May's line of sight Sharon notices the sickly man standing calmly a few meters up the walkway. "Hey mister, you here too, come on over and introduce yourself!" she yells. Turning back to the small group she asks "And what's your name kid?" in a friendly manner.

He stared in the direction that Charon had looked when she had spoken. The bears were there. It's nearly time, Blue remembered. They had said that and then he had met these... people.

"...I'm Blue," he said more in the direction of the bears. "And I think it's just about time." He turned to face the apparitions completely.

"ummmm, Blue? Ok that works, but your creeping me out. That guy said the same thing to me a few moments ago..." pointing off towards the man. "What's the deal with everyone saying this stuff?" Sharon asked as she looked to the other two.

Nash looked at them, "What are you talking about?" he asked as he began to turn around. He was face to face with the man he had met at the entrance. "YOU!!" he yelled as he walked towards the stranger.

May stared past Nash and then made a weird face at him.

"Uh. .. why are you yelling at that balloon?" She said with a nervous smile.

"Wait. ..Time? I heard that to. ..I mean only it was a little girl who said it." She said looking at Sharon and Blue. "This is really weird."

She watched as Nash shouted.

Suddenly a ruff wind blew down on them, ripping threw the streets and causing the various tents to blow over, causing some of their contents to fall to the ground.

"Wo," May said as her eyes grew wide with surprise.

There infront of Nash now stood threw people and a small ready bear.

"Holly. . .crap." She said as all of them looked up. Their faces were pale and gaunt, and there eyes were distant and lifeless.

"Time. . .its time." They all said in unison. The old man stared at Nash and stepped forward, his arms shoot out at Nash. The old man had grabbed on to his shirt and was now looking at him with the blank eyes.

"GO. . .time to go. . .far. . .save. ..time to go." He said with a strained voice. His face twisted in pain as he and the others all fell to the ground lifeless, and then slowly disappeared.

As they all stood staring, the wind again blew and the crowds around them broke with rain.

(too all)

You see a small pink balloon drift into a very small looking tent.

"Holy!...." Sharon cried as grabbed her arms across her chest and bent her knees to steady herself against the tremendous winds. "Where did you all come from..." and as the bodies faded her eyes turned into the shapes of saucers "wait no! you can't leave.... This is way too creepy... "

As the rain began to beat down on her body Sharon began to hustle towards the tent where the balloon had entered. At the front flap she turns back to the others and calls out "At least one is still standing... I don't like it but it's dry!" This dream is by far the strangest yet.... where is this wild animal leading me, into my own rabbit hole?

Nash stood there, where the old man had fallen. His eyes were wide and full of fear, as the winds blew and rain broke out through the area.

He looked to May, "What is going on here?" he asked her.

This made no sense to him, he became more confused as he tried to fathom it.

He then saw the balloon.

At first May didn't answer. . .she then blinked and turned to Nash.

"Now How would I know?" She said. She was shaking now from the cold and from fear.

"Lets get out of the rain." She said grabbing Blues hand and dragging him into the tent.

As she entered the tent another bolt of lightning struck down causing thunder to sound around Nash.

***What Nash sees****

As you are standing outside, he sees the fair grounds shift and slowly become aged, as if the tents have been up for many years.

***what those in The tents see***

You can see that The tent is actually very huge. It is dark inside, and oddly warm. There is a single light in The center.
