"Come on! We're starting!" he called back to the others as he made for the arena....

Calynpen looked at the farmer with sympathy.

At least he won his first battle... I hope he backs out before he goes into any more, or dies... That reminded her of Taysir.

He... he'll probably be able to fight. Maybe even challenge the champion. And after the first rounds, maybe I can go check on him and see how he's doing.

At the sound of the bell Rebin suddenly looked up from the introduction. "we'll take care of formalities later."

Reaching into his pocket Rebin pulled out a pair of greaves and slipped them onto his hands, and after flexing his hands a few times, ran out the door to the arena entrance.

Taysir reached the waiting are for Vagantas. A large dugout area with two exits into the arena. Now, the gates were closed, but would open soon when the next Vagantas fighter was called.

taking a seat on a stadium-style bench devoid of other fighters, Taysir watched the guard in charge, waiting for his name to be called....

Hearing the bells ringing in the distance Gahleon thought to himself

"Darn it, I'm going to be late."

With a single movement his cloak started to ruffle in the wind and Gahleon was gone, he didn't care to wait for the other gentleman to explain himself. Gahleon was on business and business always comes before anything.

At an astronomically fast speed Gahleon appeared near the arena. He viewed the spectators and the warriors.

Gahleon totally oblivious of the people around him had accidently bumped into a worried woman, she seemed deep in thought on the battle.

"Hmm excuse me ma'am, I didn't mean to bump into you."

Gahleon peered at Calynpen again, he unveiled his shadowy transparent hood to reveal his face to her. His young pale face expose, he had slight bags under his twilight blue eyes. In a very soft tone he said

"Ah, so you are Calynpen. My name is Gahleon. I was looking for you last night. Unfortunately, I don't know this town very well, so I could not reach you. I was very reluctant to find a nice gentleman who helped me with my wounds. He wasn't the greatest, but he prevented me from further pain."

Hesitating a bit, Gahleon took a step back so he could turn to face Calynpen

"Are you the only healer in this town? Such a large town, and only one healer. I find this a bit odd."

((Just Post Your turn being called and going into Fight and then the fight based on how you think your character would do against the monster, During this section you fight the same monsters despite whatever Sect you signed up for. The Monster Line up is as Follows: Blue Slime, Beetle, Giant Wasp, Poison Mushroom, Boar, Giant Spider, Giant Falcon,Dire Wolf, Dire Panther, Bugbear, Harpy, and Orc. This is the first part of the Arena fights, aka Day 1. Day 2, the Second Series of monster fights and the second level of Competition involves the following: Ghoul, Zombie, Wraith, Iron Golem, Fire Dragon Whelp, and Ice Dragon Whelp. You get a rest between battles if you request it. Day 3 Will Be First to post against an NPC (played by poster, based on the consent rule) of one of the following Sects: Royal, Hunter, Fighters, Thantas or Magi *vagantas hardly make it all the way through the first two levels and tend to get eliminated in this one, I want you to make yerself have a challenge* the Fourth day of the Tourny will be the First to post vs the second to post, third vs fourth, etc. 1st winner to post vs the 2nd winner to post *Okay combat comes into play this causes some 'issues' at times, most importantly don't assume an attack hits unless the person says it does or for some reason forgets to mention dodging an attack, be realistic meaning a Fighter wearing Full mail wont be able to jump over the Thantas and slam a blade into him. ----NOTE: Thantas are agile and fast, Magis have powerful magic attacks but take time to cast sometimes, Hunters and fighters are average in speed with hunters being a bit faster based on the armor they tend to wear and Royals are powerful but slow.---- on Day 5 The winner after all eliminations will go against me as the champ)) Thank you for playing, hope this makes sense to you.

"If that is all you know, that is enough. I am actually looking for a few things. I'm looking for a temple for the red moon. I can't seem to find anything in this darn city. Anyway, do you think you can do anything for my wound?"

Calynpen relaxed, the fear and wariness gone. Now, he was just a patient. She reached out, and her delicate fingers clamped over his hand with surprising strength.

"Don't. The bandages right now are stopping the blood from going out."

She'd have liked to watch the fights and see how Taysir would do, but Calynpen placed this above her own desire.

Who knows? Taysir might not even be blooded, she thought hopefully.

"I can take care of that, then take you to one of the temples of the red moon."

Calynpen knew that she needed her kit, which was still in the slums. She tugged Gahleon along with her. "I need my supplies," she explained, and began leading him to the poorer section of Malfaire, not bothering to use the rooftop paths.

As they moved, the crowds began thinning, until they finally reached the decrepit area where buildings were in ill repair, bricks sometimes crumbling away from walls and with their mortar chipped away. Rats scurried in piles of trash, and skinny, bony children ran about, with vacuous-eyed adults watching them. The only ones here who seemed healthy and strong were the teenagers or young adults, all of whom wore gang symbols; an earring, a pendant, armbands, or even how they did their hair.

Calynpen finally reached the building where she had sheltered for the night. Several of the slummers there glanced up sharply at her entrance, but relaxed when they saw it was only Calynpen with a patient in tow. Two of the three scratched up gangsters were inside, as were Faya and Raf. Damian and the few others were elsewhere.

Taysir sat right up when the guard lifted high a list of names.

"Taysir Ravidal!" He called out, "Your Next!"

Taysir rose from his seat and made his way past sword - sharpening fighters and spell preparing mages. he reached the guard and showed his papers. "You may fight for 12 rounds, you may request for a rest at any time. Should you be knocked out, you will lose all your winnings. You may stop fighting at any time and keep all the money you have won to that point. Questions?" Taysir shook his head and walked to the open gate. "Good luck." The man said as he shoved him out of the gate.

The crowds roared as the new fighter entered the arena. Taysir gave a smile and a gentle wave as he walked to his fighting point. Around him was a 50 yard circle that was his designated fighting arena. As he watched, rays of light fired up from the circle and formed a wall and ceiling of clear energy. This wall was set up to prevent the monster from escaping, of course, and in case some mage lost control of a spell...

Taysir would not have to worry about that. As a Taskmage, he had learned to control his magic so that none but his task was harmed...

A soft, glowing light formed in the ring. taysir watched as the Blue Slime came into being before him. The thing's "head" darted around it's liquid body, and spied Taysir. "Well! Come on!" he called out, not thinking that the beast probably could not understand Human speech. The thing may not have comprehended, but it understood the implications. It charged, moving with amazing speed, darting from side to side as it charged.

"Easy." Taysir said, setting his staff before, he received the charge. The best had leapt at the final moment, aiming it's body for Taysir's chest. Taysir brought his staff to bear, sending it's gnarled headpiece into the body of the slime. The thing struggled on it's point. But a swinging smash into the ground brought that to a halt.

The crowd cheered as the pile of goo vaporized before the mage. 'One down, and i didn't even have to cast a spell...' He thought, 'Thing are looking good...'

(( Next creatures, Tomorrow! ))

Rebin looked up from his stretching as Taysir was called. Rebin watched through the gate as he fought the slime, making quick work of it. "Interesting fighting stance" he thought, "I'll have to ask him about it later."

After he was through watching, Rebin sat down and continued to ready himself. Reaching down to his ankle, he pulled on a draw string in his pant leg, and then tied a knot in the cord to secure it away from his feet. After he was done with one he repeated the process with the other leg. Taking one last moment to look at Taysir's progress, Rebin relaxed, folded one leg over the other, and tried to calm his stomach.

"At least my style isn't from around here, maybe it'll give me an advantage..."

Most of the people looked like they were straight off the farm. After a while, Rebin began to feel guilty. most of these people were starving, willing to risk their lives just so they could feed they're children. Glancing back and forth across the faces, Rebin thought back to the bread he had ate just last night. "I wonder when the last time they ate was...". Nathan heard the bell and made his way down to the Vagantas’ waiting room just in time to hear his name called out by the announcer.

‘Derek Savron!’

He pulled his hood closer around his face, overshadowing his features, and allowed himself to be led out into the arena by a pair of guards. As he appeared into the light of day from the Vagantas archway the crowd cheered – not for him, but for the action that his arrival meant that they would soon witness. Looking around, Nathan noted that there were others fighting in magically enclosed areas around the arena – not only did this setup save time, it ensured that the crowd never got bored, as there was always action to be seen.

He stood within the one of the Vagantas circles, and the barrier went up around him. He relaxed, and went through the mental exercises that he had been taught.

And then, in a flash of magic, the blue slime appeared before him.

‘Oh please...’ He muttered, unable to restrain a laugh escaping him. Immediately he chastised himself, remembering his first lesson.

To underestimate an opponent is to invite your own loss.

He nodded absently, withdrawing his sword and mace from underneath his cloak. Breathing slowly – in, out, in, out – he focused all his attention on the slime, letting all other thoughts loose from within his mind.

Free your mind from obstruction: The world is your opponent, your opponent is the world.

And then the slime leapt forward, a tentacle erupting from it’s gelatinous mass and lashing out at Nathan, who calmly rolled with it, coming up and slashing the tentacle with his sword. The severed end fell to the floor with a squelch and twitched slightly. The crowd whooped and cheered.

What followed was an intricate dance – Nathan could have finished the creature with a single blow, but he intended to give the crowd what they had come for – entertainment. First the creature would attack, he would avoid it and counterattack, always breaking down at it, never letting up. It became more dangerous – the slime shooting out multiple tentacles at once, and Nathan decided enough was enough. He dived and rolled, coming up to the left of the tentacles, and thrust his mace down with all the force he could gather on the slime’s mass – which promptly erupted, spattering the arena floor with gooey lumps.

Standing, Nathan acknowledged the cheers with a nod of his head, and simply stood there, waiting for the next challenge.

The leader of the troupe grinned. It was an unpleasant thing to witness.

"There's this girl Calynpen. We want ya to catch her and bring her to us. ALIVE. Pretty easy to spot— weird shiny skin and green hair. Her eyes ain't right either; like silver. When ye get her, bring her to the Old Man's fountain. It's one o' the fountains near the center of the slums in the northern half o' the city. Got it? An' if nobody's there for her, ask around fer Tiger. Tha's me." The boy, with his wiry body and lean musculature, fit his nickname well. There was a sort of feral aura about him, and one almost expected his teeth to be in points.

With that, the only girl in their group— a hatchet-faced, hardbitten looking young woman— took out a small pouch from under her shirt, flipping it up to Joke. Inside were several gold coins, along with silver and various copper pieces... almost a small fortune.

"Tha's only half," explained Tiger. "Ye get the rest later. But if you just make off with the money and don't get Calynpen..." His eyes went hard, and the feral aura intensified. "I got my ways ta make sure ye don't get to enjoy the money, catch my drift? Any questions ye have?"

"Rebin Ikarin"

Rebin looked up from tying a odd sort of sock-shoe to his foot to hear his named called. Instantly all his relaxing went out the window. He walked to the guard and listened to what he had to say, he didnt have any questions. Before he could walk out however the guard stopped him, "Do you not have a weapon to use? we can supply you with one." "Thats okay, i do better without one." replied Rebin. The guard looked at him for a while, the shrugged and pointed him out the gate.

Soon after Rebin found himself in the center of a 50' fighting circle, around him he saw taysir and some other man he thought he had seen somewhere. Suddenly the circle lit up as a tall field incircled the area, cealing him off. Sensing the start, Rebin bent his knees and slid one foot slightly forawrd. A bolt of energy took form and a blue slime appeared in the arena. The crowd yelled and screamed all around him. Rebin too one last look around him, the saught the void. He focused on himself and the monster, a bubble in his mind formed, sealing his awareness in with him and the monster, while sealing the guilt, the hunger, and everything else out.

The monster turned and charged toward him, with more speed the Rebin might of thought, but the realisation only flickered for a moment across the surface of the void, then faded away. Waiting, rebin lowered his stance. The Monster charged closer. Rebin waited. The monster leaped towards Rebin center of gravity, and Rebin sprung. As soon as the monster was within a foot, Rebin suddenly threw his front leg around and spun his body back and around the flying slime. then, using his momentum(sp?) he spun the same leg around behind him, smashing the ball of his foot square in what would have been the back of the slimes body. The slime continued it's flight, and smashed into the field of force. Rebin relaxed and released the void. Watching as the slime flashed a bit on the wall, then faded away.

"one down"

"Taydoryn Ulinhallow, you're up."*One of the guards he knew tapped his shoulder*
"Right, thanks..."

*He advanced into the field and looked around him. He could see that he was the only fighter in the Hunters area, but over in the Vagantas area, he could see three men. Two he recognized as the people he had met in the room, but the other one he though he could almost recognize but couldn't get a good look at him. 'Oh well, my fight's about to begin......'. The the barrier went up.*

*The slime appeared in a flash of semi-blinding blue light. The slime began to ooze forward, watching his prey actions, seeing what it would do next. just as it got about 10ft away, Tayd began to spin his volgue in a windmill style defense slowly, watching the blue slime stop and tense in ozzing body, waiting for an apparent rush. Tayd, still spinning the volgue slowly began to spin it over head, like a propeller. Then he stopped it, holding it in his left hand, throwing spear style. The he tensed his legs and in one quick movement he threw the double bladed spear and jumped forward just as the blue tendril of slime flew forward to impale him. The crowd yelled and hollered and applauded as the volgue sliced through the blue slime, killing it. Tayd landed to see the slime fade away, and he picked up the spear and began to wipe the goo offf of it.*

A shimmer on the field displayed Taysir's next foe. The Beetle took form and immediately charged in a mad fury. The blunt horn smashed against taysir's body and sent him to the ground. "Nasty..." he spat, righting himself. The blow wasn't strong enough to break anything, But he would be feeling the bruise for a week.

"Ok, let's give the crowd a show!"

Taysir raised his staff and emitted a beacon of light from it's tip. It wasn't a spell really Just a trick built into the staff to light passages and to showboat when it was warranted. The beacon grew until it encompassed the entire staff head. Taysir then set it forward and shut his eyes. The crowd could not see it, but a yellow streak of energy danced within that sphere. Taysir open one eye and watched as the beetle stood. Scared stiff by the strange light. Taysir didn't wait. He jutted his staff forward and the electricity shot out from the head, catching onto the beetle's ramming - headpiece. The power jolted through the entire creature and it finally slumped to the round. Dead.

Taysir stood straight and deactivated the beacon. He awaited the next monster...

(I'll just kinda skip through a few of these...)

The next few rounds were tiring for taysir. the Giant Wasp managed to jet a stream of it's poison onto his cape, before it fell to an thunderous attack. a Poison Mushroom would have seemed a challenge, except Taysir remembered to just not breath. the Boar was roasted by a flaming attack, and taysir dropped to his knees.

"Break!" he called

The next monster never appeared, and the soft-blue shield fell away. Taysir walked over to the waiting gate and found a clear seat not far from the entrance. He laid aside his staff and cloak (Which was taken to have the venom removed) and lifted his pant leg up. A great red gash bleed there from a Boar claw swipe.

He gritted his teeth and wrapped the leg in a crude bandage torn from his shirt and limped t the guard, "How long are the breaks?" "As long as you need, just let us know when your ready and we'll put you on the list to get back in. take your time, we have all day." taysir nodded and made his way for the exit. He wandered into the concessions area and looked around for a doctor.

A cheap doctor.....

Nathan lowered his arms as the beetle appeared, sizing up his foe. It was four feet long, three feet high, and had a large horn jutting out of it's chitinous armour from between it's eye. As soon as it saw Nathan, it charged forwards, intending to gore him on it's horn.

But the man was already behind it, and as the beetle tried to stop and turn at the same time, Nathan gored it with his sword. It twitched ineffectually for a few moments, then lay still.

~~~
The dire panther growled as he once again feinted, darting this way and that. His numerous wounds were slowing him as they seeped blood, and his senses were beginning to dull. Yet he knew that he wasn't allowed to call a break during the fight, so he would have to finish, one way or the other.
His right leg buckled underneath him, throbbing from the pain of the spider's sting. As Nathan fell the panther
leapt, sure that it would defeat it's wounded prey. It fell on him and let loose an earsplitting howl before all fell silent.
The crowds strained in their seats, trying to see the cause of the silence...
...And Nathan's sword erupted from the panther's back, piercing through flesh, bone, and sinew alike.
