Ethra, silently (Though probably not silent enough to noty be heard by a thief) walked up behind Verios. She asked a simple question, "Why do you steal?"

(Yes, because I'm the only Theif, Verios is a Thief-Conjurer.)

Kite had been following them listening in on some of there conversations, so far none of them had been too teribly interesting.

"Where did the hot wingra go to? I thought for sure I saw one eariler." Kite said looking at Verios.

Verios simply waved his hand heading out of town. "Don't know don't care." He shook his head heading off towards the nearby forest to try and find some treasure. He got there quickly flicking aside the weaker monsters with his spear, dismissing them easily. "Always weak monsters around Regs...." He shrugged and kept wandering about the forest ignoring any other players that were there. "Only Newbies here anyway... I should pay them no mind..."

Fighting for a while, Alyrra was then surprised by a sudden "feeling" she had... as though she had gotten more expert at what she was doing.

Have I gained a level or something? she wondered, absentmindedly massaging her hands, then glancing at the corpse of the skeletal naga she had been fighting.

When she went back to the trainer, she was pleased to find that she had been raised a level, and gleefully learned a few new spells, as well as a little bit of instruction on how to use them.

Ventriloquate... not sure what use that is, but it sounds fun. And faerie fire... weakens an opponent's armor. Plus 'see invisible'... yayness. And 'float'. If I cannot fly, at least I can float.

Alyrra continued her wandering around the NewB village, using 'see invisible' to battle a few more advanced monsters, and eventually combatting the gremlin again, which she now had a few tactics to use against.

Faerie fire! Makes my blows do more damage... then a few bursts of the galvanic whip or black hand.

She was also getting better at dodging, finding the ingrained reflexes she now had to be intriguing.

Now I understand some of the kids at school who say that Reyta is more fun than real life... here, you can be a mage, a dragonhalf, just... somebody more INTERESTING, she decided, finishing the gremlin off.

By now she had collected a few more motley scraps of equipment. A strong leather belt was tied around her waist, which she then tucked the dagger into. Another dagger she had found was also kept, and it had room for a small money pouch, into which she emptied the coins she had won. And the rusting sword she had gotten from the naga... she had no idea what to do with it.

Sell it? The blacksmith took it off her hands, although even with haggling, it only gave her a small amount of cash.

Well, it WAS rusty... and not in too good shape. I like my daggers better.

By now she was getting a bit bored of the NewB Village, and the monsters were providing a bit less of a challenge.

Shall I go forth for adventure then? YAY! Then, boldly stri— erm, floating— out, Alyrra went to see if she, as a newbie, was truly ready for the challenges of Reyta... or at least the challenge of a Reg town, exploring the streets.

(OOC: I'm just using a few spells and things that I remember from when I used to play MUDs... should I be keeping track of what spells I know, since my char is a newbie?)

((It seems "Regs" has become the name of our town...))

Reht spoke a moment with the druid, telling him where he could be found, and reminding him that he would be willing to work for compensation, and then wandered off. There were no jobs in town, so he set off for the forest near Regs. There were probably a few people who had gotten into scrapes with the monsters there, and would need a hand. Sure, it may seem to be a forest full of low level monsters, but there were always some sort of forest spirit guarding forests in Reyta. Might be enough to cause someone trouble. Or at least have some good loot to take.

A while later, Reht determined that the forest was entirely empty, with the exception of the wandering conjourer-theif. He didn't need any help, so Reht went back to the edge of the forest and climbed a tree, then commenced to admire the scenery. He might be a feirce man, with definitive ideas about what he should be doing, but he still liked to stop a few hours to stare at the sky.
It was peaceful...

Verios shifted his weight to one side as he placed his foot atop the wolf pack that attacked him. He laughed having not received any damage at all today. He chuckled once more before turning around shouldering his spear.

The monsters here are too weak, and there is no treasure either....... I need to find a quest....

Verios raced out of the forest his trenchcoat flowing behind him as he ran. He leapt over a few Newbies that were fighting a battle and jumped off the monsters head the Newbies taking advantage of this and killing it.

I should head back towards Kaja....I still owe the keep there

Verios stopped running when he came across the gates of the town that he most commonly visited. Mainly because he started here, and was well known among the players in this area. He walked in the gates glancing to the Reyta watchers that stood guard, whom despite knowing his record, ignored him. Verios also was quite feared by the watchers here. They had tried to capture him a large amount of times, but never really came close.

"Ahh.... Kaja, I never get tired of coming here. There is almost always something new to see here. Perhaps I may find another decent quest..."

Verios stopped for a moment spotting the Wingra from before, the Newbie whom was almost shot with a arrow. He glanced at her for a moment and placed his spear on his shoulder walking over to her.

"You are a Newbie right? A word of Advice, steer clear of the Kaja Tavern." He smirked placing his spear at his side and raising a index finger waving it at her. "Its where thieves hang out and Newbies like you are easy prey." He slowly grinned and turned around beginning to walk off into the Tavern he just mentioned. He walked over sitting down at the bar, and started to discuss something with the tender, a serious look in his eyes.

Kite standing there looking for the hot Wingra. He hadn't seen a good looking Wingra in months. He ran over to her when he saw her exit the Newbie village.

"Hey, you are a newbie right? Would you like any protection? I have nothing to do." Kite said standing in front of Alyrra.

Men'drakk'ar pondered his short conversation with Verios.

'Why, yes.' He mused aloud. 'I suppose I am rather large.'

I should find something to do.

'Anyone have a quest for me?' He asked loudly, 'Or perhaps any newbies that would like some help? If so, Men'drakk'ar is ready to lend his axe and his mind to your cause.'

Ethra had been following a ways behind Verios (or at least trying to, thieves were always hard to follow, even when they weren't caring about it), when she say him enter the tavern she sighed, "Eh, not like these foci are useful really to anyone else. I can always make new ones anyway." With a few words a small symbol started to glow for a brief moment on each of her short swords, then vanished. She proceeded to go into the tavern.

"Yeah, I'm a newbie... and right now I'm not really sure what I need help with. Just poking around right now, trying to gain levels and get more equipment. Do you know any good places for those?"

Zephyr

Postby Spleen » Wed Nov 06, 2002 11:30 pm

Zephyr logged in like he normally did, as fast as possible. In less than four seconds, he was in Reyta, on the login platform. "Whassup, yo?" the Masterblade asked, leaning on his sword.

"Well the forest over there is easy enough. If you don't mind I'll tag along, and make sure you don't Die." Kite said.

He leaned close to her and said, "You won't actually die, you'll just reconnect."

He straightened up and drew out a dagger. The dagger was a highly polished one. It had been made by the best craftsmen in all of Reyta. He had "borrowed" it from a noble he saw in a tavern one night(puns rule).

Postby Spleen » Wed Nov 06, 2002 11:48 pm

Zeph surveyed the general area and spotted Men'drakk'ar. "Heyo, Drakk! Want to duel? Promise I'll go easy." He drew his greatsword and rubbed the bright red pommel gem with his other thumb. The entire blade started glowing red-hot. "Well?"

Sitting with her legs crossed at one of the tables, she waved to the bar keep and asked for some cheap ale, momentarily interrupting the conversation between the barkeep and the conjurer/thief. Then she leaned back in her chair and closed her eyes for a brief moment.

Eh, no fun stalking this guy, heh, he seemed pretty interesting. It's all virtual money to him though, wierd.

Just relaxing

Postby JoshuaDurron » Thu Nov 07, 2002 12:07 am

It was a clear day. Reht sat staring at his curved blade. It was about as long as his forearm, consisting of four two-inch thick pieces of steel woven around eachother in a twisting flame pattern. Two of the pieces met to form a single point, the other two pieces formed their own points a few inches back. The whole thing met in a horribly complex grip that protected his entire hand, yet was still comfortable to hold. The weapon could be considered not only beautiful, but a work of art.
Reht hated it. In fact, he hated the whole necessity of it's existence. But it was necessary for him to use it to get by in this world. He had determined long ago that he would make a paradise for himself. The real world had proved a bad place to do that, so he had turned to the world of Reyta as the place for his perfect habitat. But to get that paradise, he needed the ability to influence people. He needed money. To get that money, he had to carry a weapon. So be it.
But for the time being, there was no concievable way to move closer to his goal. And there was no reason not to pause to enjoy something close to paradise right now. So Reht took a few more minutes to just stare at the beauty of a clear sky...

Alyrra felt slightly nervous when Kite leaned in close, but relaxed when he went back.

"Have you ever died before?" she asked, walking towards the forest.

Voices...
Reht looked down from his perch in the tree, spotting a familiar looking Wingra approaching. She was talking with another figure, whom he couldn't quite make out. Looked like some sort of thief, by the stealthy, calculated method he moved with...
Reht allowed his musing to break, and watched the couple in quiet amusement.

Verios glanced over towards the female who was watching him. He knew she had been and he had ignored it until now. He smirked as the barkeep walked over to her placing the ale on her table. He headed back over to the bar and leaned back in towards Verios continuing their discussion.

"So Verios.... You say you blacked out..?" The keep seemed puzzled but was listening to him for that was his job after all.

Verios nodded silently and held the amulet out for the keep to get a glance at. He stared at it as if in shock and shook his head. "Verios, I'll tell you this right now..." He leaned in closer to him whispering into his ear. "You had best be very careful... that amulet...." He trailed off Verios's eyes widening at his comment.

"Impossible!" Verios slammed down his fist into the bar counter leaving a nice big crack in it. "You expect me to believe that!? You have lost it old man!" With that, Verios picked up his spear, slid the amulet back under his trenchcoat and walked out of the tavern shoving players and npc's alike aside as he walked through the streets.

"Many times. It's troublsome, not all that bad, but very troublesome." Kite said walking towards the forest next to Alyrra holding the dagger with the blade pointing behind him.

"She got nervous back there, I could feal her tense up. Not that surprising, she doesn't even know me. I'm attracted to her, but I'm not going to do anything to her. Should I say it, no... it's better she figure it out through my actions." Kite thought while he was walking and talking.

Whee... *constantly changing subject line*

Postby SALSAlys » Thu Nov 07, 2002 2:01 am

"Does it hurt?" Alyrra asked curiously. Then she noticed a dark wolf lurking behind a tree. The wolf snarled, then lunged at the girl. Dodging to the side, she hastily broke off the conversation, muttering a 'faerie fire' spell. A sickly pink glow settled over the wolf's fur, then submerged into its skin.

Dancing back, the Wingra used distance as her friend, sending a gust of charged air snapping against the wolf's cranium. Reeling back, it eyed her evilly before lunging again.

Alyrra felt grateful for her small 'float' spell; she didn't need to worry about footing too much as she evaded her foe. She muttered another small cantrip— "Spectral Image"— and created blurred outlines of herself, helping her dodge.

Timing, timing... she found opportunity to strike several times with her two attack spells. Not a wide repertoire, but effective enough, bringing the wolf down.

Looking at the corpse, Alyrra then glanced about, wary for any more monsters. Flicking her wings, she remembered one more direction; up.

And saw Reht.

Oh. Him again.

She waved.

Sorune, meanwhile, had taken it upon himself to talk with a Watcher about what he feared.
"Sir, I know it odd, but...there's a reason I never became a Watcher. It's because I had a feeling I shouldn't. My feelings have served me well in the game, outside of the game, times when I'm not certain what is and isn't reality. Right now is one of those times. I have felt....how do I put this....I feel like everything is more real in Reyta than when I will log out, and pull off this gear. Everything...."He stopped for a minute, clenching his hands. "Everything seems like it can't be stopped. Like we've dammed something up, and now it will burst. All we can do is hold onto debris, and each other, and pray that we will reach the end safely. And I suspect that Verios is the cause of it. He may not have meant to be, but he is the cause. There is no doubt in my mind."

He regarded Zephyr for a moment, sizing up the Masterblade.

'But should you have a quest lined up, I would gladly help out.'

(OOC: Assuming this is a leveled system from 1-50, Zephyr's approximately 39 or so, in a 1-100 system he'd be 78. It's fitting because even though he's been playing so long, his hacker character got deleted, so he had to start anew.)

Action at the gates.

Postby ArgusDevilmen » Thu Nov 07, 2002 6:28 pm

The watcher glanced at Sorune nodding slightly. "Yes, well you should talk about that with a NPC. I honestly just got recruited into the watchers and haven't heard anything." The watcher shrugged his shoulders. "You should try talking to a older Watcher...."

Verios meanwhile was shoving people aside violently. He was visibly pissed, also considering he was now swatting the players aside with his spear.

Impossible! I can't believe such a thing...... How could I possibly be expected to?

He kept trudging down the street the players now stepping aside. In the street ahead 2 watchers stood at the town gates shakily holding crossbows. They knew Verios and his reputation, and were terrified. "S..stop! You are causing trouble and must cease at once or else we will be forced to shoot!" The one on the right still shaking, clutched the trigger for the crossbow.

Verios stopped a few feet away from them staring at the two grinning. "Stand aside watchers, lest you want to be disconnected..." He pointed his spear at them with one hand and slowly approached the one on the left.

The watcher on the right stepped back, while the left one pointed his crossbow at Verios's arm. "Stay back!" Verios simply laughed and kept approaching. The right one finally snapped, and fired the bolt of his crossbow at Verios's shoulder. Verios stepped out of the way but the other watcher shot at him as well. Verios moved out of the way of this bolt, but not enough for him to avoid it completely, the bolt ripping through the fabric of his trenchcoat and leaving a open cut where the bolt skimmed..

The watchers stared wide eyed as the cut they just made on Verios's shoulder was bleeding. The one on the left was freaked, as blood was not something that was never seen before in Reyta. Verios felt his shoulder touching the blood before the cut closed up. Verios stood staring at the blood for a moment before he laughed.

"Heh... So thats it then...." Verios ran up to the left watcher and with a quick motion slashed him across the chest, sending him to the ground nearly instantly. The right one paniced, drew his sword and rushed at Verios in a random flurry of sword swipes. Despite the randomness, Verios dodged them easily. After a few moments he waited for the watcher to stop, then with a thrust of his spear he sent the spear right through the watchers chest.

The two watchers slowly began to dematerialize into sparkling bits of blue light. "They wont be logging back in for a while..." Verios turned to some of the players who were staring in disbelief and confusion. Slanting his eyes he turned, shouldering his spear and walked out of the town gates.
