Rasmus gives the cook a smile and takes the stew with a nod. Gripping the bowl around the edges where it's not quite so hot, he blows on it for a second before responding, "Thanks! Nah, we'll be quiet. This is interesting and all, but why should I tell anyone? I'm more interested in what Bastion and.. and Cannon found at that cabin. They tell you about it?"

"Some sort of dragon device." The cook says. "Seems all it does is make noise. Bastion says it's broken."

Guy stepped back a pace to steady himself when he bumped into Kyrie, and laughed nervously before she started to speak. After, he replied:

"No, everything's fine. I just decided to head back for the night."

"...Oh. Good." Relaxing, her ears pressing to her heads, she nods as her tail sways behind her. "I was getting some food to bring back...did you eat yet? I could bring back an extra serving."

With a slight huff, she looks past Guy, ears raising again with a slight twitch to them, a slight grimace of discomfort as the fear that she hasn't quite managed to brush away starts to stir again. "...what do you think of all this, anyway? This...place, these people. You don't seem near as bothered...I wouldn't mind a less...er...biased opinion?"

"A broken dragon device, eh?" Sana asked, inserting herself into Rasmus' conversation with the chef while picking up a bowl of stew, "Sounds interesting. Anybody taken a shot at fixing it?"

"I don't suppose you found anything that might be helpful at the cabin?" Triya asked Bastion, "The place was a bit of a mess when we arrived. Not a great many clues to be found. Or," she continued as the thought occurred to her, "Any friends she might have made during her time here we could talk to? I gather she lived in that cabin for a fair while."

Rasmus jumped a little as Sana interjected. Fortunately, he was quick to collect himself without a drop spilled.

"It's broken now, but what it used to do is a lot more interesting, am I right?" He gave Sana a bit of a forced smile before continuing, "Someone'll be able to fix it, I bet. They haven't had it here all that long."

Oleai looked up with a bit of a start as the tentflap was pulled open before Kyrie got to it! Ears pointing straight up and eyes going wide!

But, she relaxes the moment she sees who it is, "Oh, Hello Guy." She gives a weak smile before sitting back down. Finally taking a moment to pull her gloves off, so she might warm her hands on the fire. Having not wanted to get too comfortable in this camp, but it seems at least for now they're stuck here.

Outside:

The cook nods slightly at Sana. "Bastion says she'll have a look later. She's the best bet...Being a dragon and all."

Meanwhile, Bastion thumps her tail again. "No." she says simply. "The place was trashed when we got there. That girl didn't want someone finding something or other. We grabbed anything worth a damn left and moved on."

-----------------

Inside the tent:

An odd noise from a darkened corner catches Kyrie and Oleai's attention...As someone steps out of the darkness.

She's just a couple hairs shorter than Kyrie, but she moves with a fluid grace combined with solid intent. She wears form fitting armor of black and charcoal grey, Kyrie recognizes it as a much more advanced version of the padded armor Jonin wear...Though on her harness is the jeweled emblem Kyrie's never seen in person- Three black kunai, crossed over one another on a red background. Even a lot of her face is covered up, with a facemask covering her mouth and her messy grey hair hanging down over her right eye. What can be seen is pale, with a dark patch around a piercing red eye. What may be the most interesting thing, however, is that this is no Nekana- This is a human.

She quickly, silently approaches Kyrie, quickly tossing her a small roll of message paper, before backstepping back into the shadow. Never making a noise. Never blinking.

And just like that, she's gone.

Kyrie:
Spoiler:
The emblem on the Jonin's harness is, as far as Kyrie can tell, that of the Shi clan-- Supposed masters of stealth and infiltration, so skilled that no Nekana has ever been able to actually prove they exist!

Oleai's calm was instantly shattered by the presence in the tent. An ear, extra sensitive by her already growing paranoia of the bitey-bitey creatures outside, twitching in the direction of the 'covert agent'. Who unfortunately for Oleai, was positioned directly behind her. The situation could not have been worse.

Already on her haunches, the Plainsrunner easily hopped from one end of the tent to the other, spinning about to look at this new 'threat'. "Ahh!" She gave a little shout of surprise as she did so. Though her sudden alarm was quickly muffled as the agent simply handed off a message and vanished out of the tent.

Giving a relieved sigh, Oleai bundled her hands together over her stomach in the guarded position she'd taken up ever since they arrived in the camp, scurrying over to Kyrie's side after recalling that the edges of the tent are the least safe. "W-what does it say? Does everyone here have to frighten me so?" She frowned, leaning over the much shorter Nekana woman to try and read.

Kyrie freezes with a gasp, staring back at the jonin gape-mouthed as she's handed the message. It couldn't be, they're just silly rumors, but...

She glances to Oleai just for an instant at the shout, in the very moment the jonin vanishes, to Kyrie's great confusion when she looks back. Looking about the tent, she looks for any sign of just how he could've gotten out, but there's not the slightest sign. "What...did you see..."

Glancing down to her hands, back to the message scroll, and unravels it to get a look, too flabbergasted to even bother hiding it from Oleai.

Oleai, who seems to have bonded to Kyrie somewhat, clings to her shoulder. "Who was that? I don't recognize those last words. Is that a name? Can we.. Is this reason enough to go now?" She tugged on one ear with her free hand, fretting over the stress of even being in this camp and looking for a reason to flee.

"I don't...that was...a Nekana emblem he was wearing, but he was human, and..." She scowls, looking again around the tent before turning her eyes back towards the outside, past Guy. "I suppose it might be, Oleai? Guy, did you just...see that too?"

She mutters, "...the zealot and the outcast...?", as she thinks to herself, trying to work out for herself exactly what just happened in these last few moments.

"See... See what? The scary lady who gave you the note? Yes. Can we please go now?" She pulled a bit more, even turning slightly to push gently on Guy's chest - like she were trying to nudge them out of the tent.

"I've had enough of this place."

"Well, none of us imagined this would be easy," Triya said philosophically, "We'll just have to keep at it and hope we catch up with her in the end. It'll definitely be harder with her running scared though. Anyway, thank you for your time."

It seemed Bastion had said all she intended to say on the subject. Perhaps the others were having better luck. In any case, it wouldn't hurt to continue asking around.

Guy had been about to answer Kyrie when the dark figure appeared, and in the time it took him to get over his shock and draw his knife it was gone again. Guy didn't answer Kyrie immediately, instead rushing into the tent to check the spot where the Jonin had disappeared. When he had been over the corner throughly and put his knife away he sighed.

"If it wasn't for that scroll, I'd say we all hallucinated that just now."

He ran a hand through his hair, looking and feeling very flustered. More to himself than to Kyrie, he quietly asked:

"Why would someone be delivering you a message this way?"

"...that was actually the most normal bit of that for me." A light snicker to herself as she glances to Guy, as she lets herself get nudged out of the tent, the slightest of shudders as she's forced in view of the other inhabitants again, keeping her voice low. "But it...as much as I'd like to just take this as an excuse, it didn't warn us about...the entire camp. Just two of them...if it even meant the camp. And there has to be a reason why I was warned about just these two. Guy, you were probably paying more attention than I was to...everyone else here." She frowns before continuing, a small shake to her voice. "Do you have any clue who it might mean?"

The bowl pressed to his lips, Rasmus paused and looked to the cook. Gears turned in his head as he contemplated what next to say. Were his questions not phrased right? Did the cook see through what he was trying to do? Did it matter?

He lowered the bowl and asked the cook, "Yeah, so did she say what it should do?"

Rasmus stared at the cook for a moment, then into the fire, then down into his bowl, and finally back at the cook.

"That doesn't make sense. If you can't hear it, it's not noise."

He finally lifted the bowl to his lips and took a sip.

"I dunno." The cook says, offering another bowl to Sana. "Talk to th' dragons. They made th' thing."

Inside:

As the three speak near the front of the tent, Stray approaches, three bowls of soup in her arms- One with noticably more veggies. "I B-brought you your dinner!" She says...almost cheerfully.

Looking over from Guy as Stray makes her way over, Kyrie can't help but smile a bit to see her again, thankful that she can speak with at least one of them without freaking out and relaxing a bit just from that fact. With a small nod, she takes one of the bowls from her. "Thanks. Why the favor, kit? You want something?" She gives Stray a small smirk as she finds somewhere nearby to sit and eat; not ducking back into the tent, but still looking for somewhere where it might at least block her view some.

Oleai takes a step back toward the tent as Stray approaches, taking her hands off Kyrie to once again bundle near her stomach. Her thumbs twiddling nervously for a moment as she deliberates with herself the worry of eating anything from an undead camp's cook - and the fact she was very, very hungry.

She opts for the bowl, at least to look at. Carefully approaching Stray to take the bowl with fully outstretched arms. The kit wasn't as bad as the others, but still made Oleai uncomfortable.

Raising the bowl to her nose, she would sniff it for a time to try and gauge its contents. Instead of drinking the broth, which was almost certainly the same as the other bowls, she opts to take two of her nails and fish out a larger veggie. Shaking it off before biting into it.

Her eyes turn to Stray for a moment, and she nods a quiet thanks.

Kyrie eats slowly at the soup as Oleai takes hers, a food that tastes surprisingly better than she expected for undead-cooked food; another bit to ease her mind. Her mind on the food, Stray's question takes her by surprise, though she doesn't show it beyond the slight raise of one brow. She hadn't expected any of them to have any interest in leaving peacefully like this, though if anyone, she supposes Stray might be the most likely.

"...come with us? Really? Why would you want that? Aren't things well enough here? It's not a pleasure trip, kit. We're doing a job here."

"Hey, this stuff's delicious," said Rasmus with a nod of approval. He took another couple of gulps from his bowl, before pausing to give off a steamy breath, and to let his mouth cool off a bit. Another sip, and still no acknowledgement of Sana's question. Finally, having apparently had enough for the moment, he glanced over with a slightly cheeky smile.

"They don't count. It's people that can hear that count, least with noise. I oughtta know. I have the ears for it."

He broke into a lopsided grin for a second before raising the bowl back to his lips.

"Well then, if you can't hear the noise but the device can, it's the device that counts," Sana said cheerfully, "I've seen some pretty strange stuff done by some of those devices. Storing sound for later is a popular option, now I think of it."

Her conversation with Bastion at an end, Triya moved on to see if she could find a smith. The cobalt had sounded interesting, and a smith seemed like the person to talk to if she wanted to know more.

Sipping from her soup, Kyrie keeps a light-hearted smirk towards Stray; it's obvious she's hiding something, and she can't help but needle at her to find out what it might be. "You've got to have some reason, hm? You don't just up and decide to run off with some travelers without something behind it. You're either trying to get to somewhere else, or away from here. Boredom, maybe?"

Outside: The chef looks tiredly towards Sana for a moment, before going back to work. "You've prolly seen a lot of odd things like that, though. Maybe you'd be able to fix it with that magic of yours."

Triya, in her search, doesn't find a smith- An anvil is probably pretty hard to get out this far. But, near the mouth of the mines entrance down here, Cannon stands, watching as workers go in and out.

Inside: Stray just grumbles after a minute. "I don't care about finding a stupid spear in the mountains. I don't see why Cannon can't just have a new one made."

"...her Razorbeak? Hm." She falls quiet for a moment, thinking on the matter Stray's brought up, stirring her soup without eating as she considers this new information. Cannon had mentioned she was a Skyrazor...before. The note warning her of this, or informing her...is she the zealot?

When she speaks again, her voice is lower, her tail still as she meets Stray's eyes. "...she's looking to regain her status as a Skyrazor, isn't she? For the revenants rather than the elves, maybe, but...is that what she's looking to do, Stray?"

"...you'll get in trouble if you say more, huh? I know how that is." With a slight smile, Kyrie leans in. "You probably have people telling you what to do all the time here, huh? And I heard those people poking fun at you before. Must not be too fun for you here sometimes."

While the spear, Cannon's plans, the note she got left by the mysterious ninja, they're all definitely all on her mind...she can't deny that at least a part of this is legitimate too. It's tough not to respond to a kit like her.

"Probably," Sana allowed, "I've picked up a few things, and I could certainly take a look at it if anyone wants me to." So saying, she tucked into the stew, giving an appreciative nod at the taste.

Triya made her way over to join Cannon, observing the passage of the workers in and out of the mine. It was definitely an organised operation. The cobalt must be a valuable trade good to justify the effort involved.

"Hello again," she said to Cannon, "If you're not too busy, I wondered if I might learn more about this cobalt ore?" It was, she reflected, interesting how she was adapting to her surroundings. Walking and talking to people had definitely helped.
