Silvie rushed in, worried by the (relatively) stern look on Rivendere's face.

"Yeah," she piped up, "What's the matter?"

Emily took a seat, mood rather dampened by Rverdare's serious expression. That reference to the weather. Was the mission a natural disaster after all? And what were they meant to do about it if so? Or was the weather unnatural? Or perhaps she was getting ahead of herself and the weather was just an unfortunate coincidence. Best to let the boss explain before jumping to conclusions.

Rivendare waits as the kids take their seats. The monitor shows Deck City from an overhead angle, along with one very large green blip on the Deck itself, and two smaller red ones- One on the outskirts of the Joker district, and one in the Trump district. "This map shows the unique electromagnetic field that you kids generate with your bodies. This-" Rivendare says, pointing to the large green blip on the map - "Is you. This little one here is like the one Casey put out when she was transforming-" He adds, moving his pointer to the one in the Trump district. "It's not fully grown yet, but it's really, really strong. It's already messing with electronics in the area."

He frowns, and moves his pointer to the one in the Joker district. "This one...We have no idea. I sent Diamond agents to check it out, and we've lost contact with them. All they've sent us is this." Rivendare continues, picking up a clicker and changing the image-

The map changes to a blurry image of a child standing on the edge of a rooftop. They're wearing a heavy brown cloak, but in the wind, it's kicked up enough to show a pair of the clunky Wunderkind boots, painted a shiny black. "As you can see, it's clearly a Wunderkind, but it's not one of ours. We have reason to believe there may be another group out there trying to make a force of Wunderkind for less than savory reasons."

Rivendare shifts his weight. "Your mission is to get to the Trump district and find the new Wunderkind, before the other- Presumably hostile- Gets to them first."

Rivendare leans back against the wall, mumbling to himself. "This would give us our thirteenth. Lucky number thirteen."

After a quick glance to the other Wunderkind, Sam's the first to speak up. "Um...do we know wnything else yet? Like...um...has anyone there said anything about seeing a robot kid or anything like that?"

"No, no reports yet. There's a storm rolling in, so people aren't really watching out for anything out of the ordinary. That's the other problem- This is a bad storm incoming. Lightning, thunder, tons of rain. We want to be in and out before it hits, if at all possible."

"No," Rivendare starts. "This is the first we've seen of them, and really the confirmation that we're not just paranoid. But we definitely didn't build this one."

He nods back to the blurry image of the becloaked Wunderkind.

Well, this sounded pretty straight forward. Almost but not quite easy even, since they had a team and their potential (but not for certain) enemy was near as they could tell alone. They should all be relatively close in power, right? He had a nagging feeling something didn't pan out about that logic but he didn't want to focus on it right now.

"Well, we should get moving then, right?"

Well, this had a portentous, destiny-laden feel to it. Best not to think too hard about that though. The important thing here was to keep the newcomer out of the hands of this other bunch of Wunderkind.

"What do you think?" she asked the others, "A couple of us get the new kid clear while the rest mix it up with this lot?" It was a fairly simple plan really, but it seemed like a sound strategy.

Alexis nodded, having not said much the last time. She'd been watching and listening, but now she tied up her long hair in a ponytail and folded her arms.

"I'll go wherever Enzo sends me, I'm not the best in a fight, but I'm pretty confident in snea... sn... not being seen."

She thought for a little while and added, "probably best to get a be... better look on this new k... kid too."

"So, Boss." Max used the word more like a nickname than a formal address to a superior. "You said the new Wunderkind was messing with electronics in the area? How big an area are we talkin' here? 'Cause me and Case' and a few of the others," this phrase illustrated with a general sweeping gesture to the rest of the kids, "have been feeling a little under the weather today. Nothing huge, but external senses are... fuzzy."

"Does that mean it might be dangerous for us when we get closer? If we feel weird now, what kinda stuff might happen to us when we're right next to her?"

He quietly thinks for a while, before adding, "But I guess that would make it easier to find her at least, we just needa go in the direction that makes us feel funnier."

Rivendare nods. "It'll be like that, I'd say. You'll feel funky to a point, and then you'll get through it and feel fine."

He begins out, before pausing. "You guys got anything else? If not, saddle up."

Mission: Thirteen
Location: Deck City, Trump District
March 12th, 3757
5:15 PM.

The children, along with Juliet at Anka's request, pile into the APC and make for the Trump district. The rain is getting steadily worse, as does the feeling that something is wrong within the kids.

AS they reach the designated area, they find themselves in an open square, something of an open-air mall. It seems to still have quite a bit of business, despite the impending storm- The thunder of which can be heard rolling in the distance. For now, they're lead into a cordoned off parking garage, ramping down under the mall itself. As soon as they're down under ground, the all clear is given to pile out and begin operations. The neophyte Wunderkind is somewhere in the area, and Diamond Officers are working to clear out the mall itself. But at least, for now, they can at least strategize.

Kid sits in her seat at one of the APC's terminals. "The stuff that Janet's sending is saying the Wunderkind is somewhere here. There's apartments over the mall itself, so I guess we're going to have to just keep looking until we find it."

Juliet sighs. "I'll remain here if you need anything. We're not far enough into the electro-magnetic field that the sickly feeling has let up, but if it gets overwhelming, just come back to me and I'll do what I can to repair you."

She frowns. "Not what I'd like to think. We don't get healed, we get repaired."

Sam nods, staring out over the garage. "Where should we look first? There's a Wunderkind all by themselves and with weird powers that make electronics work funny...where would someone like that go? Probably...um...probably away from other electronics to make it harder to find her, right?"

Max hops out of the driver's seat. "Well, possibly, but, like... we're electronic. It shouldn't be too hard for us to find something that's causing electrical interference, right? Can't we modify some scanners or something?" Enzo, Janet, help me out here. "Even if we can't do anything specific, we can at least try to figure out where we feel weirder. Or less weird, since the boss said beyond a certain point the interference would clear up. Kind of like the eye of a storm, I guess. How is everybody feeling, by the way?"

Enzo was having trouble focusing on what Max was saying, losing the finer details as he tried to ignore mounting feelings of unease and nausea. He got enough to the gist to try to comply, feeling for the thing that was causing the sensation. He tried to 'see' the distortion, willing it to become visible to him. Perhaps as a source of light or the presence of fog or something.

"I could take a look from above," Emily suggested, "Even if I don't spot anything, it could still draw out the others." She'd brought along that oversized sword from the fight with Ettezan, clamped to her back, and truth be told she wouldn't mind trying it out in a real fight. Not that she intended to start that fight herself, but if these other wunderkind did, they'd find her ready.

Enzo finds that, with some effort, he can cause the source of the disturbance to manifest as a glowing ball of light. It's on the top floor of the apartments, huddled in a corner.

He has little time to tell anyone else, though, as there's an enormous crack of thunder- And the ceiling shakes. Along with people in the open-air mall above screaming, that can't be good.

At the noise, Sam jumps, staring up at the ceiling. "...did you hear that, guys? We should go, I think people are in trouble! You don't think it could be her doing it, do you?" Concentrating, he tries to pick out how many people are screaming; that way he could tell if it's a bunch of people and so probably an open area, or just a few and so probably inside one of the stores.

Emily cuts her boosters on, and heads up out into the storm. A crowd of panicked people rushes past as she flies up, completely ignoring her.

Not far off, there's a smoking crater in the asphalt, and not far from that...That cloaked Wunderkind from the briefing, holding a large, smoking gun.

Emily dropped down to stand a short distance from the wunderkind. Although she had a hand clasped around the hilt of her sword, she didn't draw it just yet.

"So," she said brightly, "You want to tell me why you're running around terrorising people?"

With Emily running out, Sam decides to do the same; for now he hangs back behind her, keeping quiet and ready to attack if need be. He doesn't level his rifle either - and he really hopes he doesn't have to fire at another wunderkind - but he keeps it at his side just in case.

The cloaked Wunderkind spins her gun on her finger a few times, before catching it, and shoving it into a compartment on her exposed hip. How fortunate and convenient the wind chose that time to blow the bottom of her cloak back.

"For starters, I'm not running. I'm taking a perfectly leisurely pace. Second, I'm not terrorizing the humans, we are terrorizing the humans."

"Oh? We're all firing off our weapons and smirking at them while they run, are we?" Emily asked indignantly, "I daresay only one of us intends to scare people and revels in it."

Well, she had the girl talking, at least. However much she might set Emily simmering. Hopefully somebody would take their cue to slip past and investigate the blip while she was occupied.

Enzo headed for the source of the interference while listening in on the assailant through Emily. He was confident that he could still help the others through their ether-comms well enough. The number of kids on the team would offer more than enough overlays to assist in perfecting their targeting solutions if anyone needed to start shooting, and he didn't need to be on hand to offer advice or tips. Someone DID need to get to that new wunderkind and get her to safety, though.

I can see where the new wunderkind is. I'm going after it. I'll still be watching you guys, though. Until we know what her archetype is my best suggestion is to keep her surrounded and subdue her. I bet the boss has plenty of questions for her.

Enzo:

Enzo rushes up the stairwell from the parking garage, and into the apartments. They're unfinished, and abandoned. Lightning cracks the sky outside as he moves.

As he approaches the new Wunderkind, the sense of awfulness and dread subsides. He feels...Normal. Fine. He approaches the last door, and...Thirteen is hovering there in her full armor- A breastplate complimenting her normal armor, and eight swords floating behind her, completely ignoring the laws of gravity. He can't help but notice they appear like wings on her back.

Finally, she's got a visor over her eyes with a black screen. She smiles at Enzo, continuing to just...Hover there. She's glad to see him.

---

Everyone Else:

The cloaked Wunderkind grins. "Yeah, but will they really see a difference between us?"

She throws her cloak off, as it billows away in the wind. Her suit is blue and black, her skin is pale and her eyes are extremely dark...and the irises are red. Her hair is green, done up in dual..Pigtail..Like...Constructs coming off the top of her head. "I'm just ahead of the curve with the fear and loathing. My name is Viral, and I'm the Ultimate Wunderkind."

Enzo is dumbfounded at first. He somehow never expected to see her in the physical world. Yet there she was, being ridiculously floaty and mechano-angelic looking as ever. The visor was new, though. Also, didn't something frightening happen to her back in virtual space? It sure did.

"...Th-Thirteen? We were worried about you. Is this why you disappeared? Because you were coming here? We never figured out what happened. A bunch of files and stuff just popped up, and a giant weird symbol..."

He tried to stem the tide of questions he wanted to ask. She was cryptic to almost to a fault and he didn't want to ask her ten questions and get one or two confusing answers if he could help it.

Frowning at Viral, Sam already doesn't like this Wunderkind. She's a bad guy, who ever thought a wunderkind could actually be a bad guy? "...You're not the ultimate one, that's silly! How come the best one ever would exist already, we've only been around a little while! You're just being a bully and scaring people for fun, that's not what an ultimate wunderkind would do!"

Enzo looks a little confused. That didn't make sense. Well, it could, but the implications were kind of weird to think about. Like Thirteen's memory getting wiped for a set period of time, or this being her past self and already knowing his name. Or it could be something else completely but he couldn't imagine what yet.

"Uhm. Ok. I'm glad to see you too. I don't recognize the visor. New?"
